Very nice facility. Came as a guest of a generous member and enjoyed invigorating racquetball, a therapeutic steam session, relaxing jacuzzi, and refreshing shower. Will be thrilled to come again if I get the chance.

Outdated. Company uses this location to pay for the other locations that do not make money. If you liked Ballys in the 80s you will feel right at home.

Toured the gym but decided against membership. Facility has dated appearance. Restrooms look like they are 30+ years old. Dirty ceiling tiles in pilates reformer room. It needs upgrades and better aesthetic. Location is a bit tricky to reach.

The gym closes at 7 on weekdays and 2 pm on weekends. If you work and busy on weekend mornings, there aren’t many options when you can use it. As the weather is getting better outside, I found myself working mostly outside rather than in the gym, so I decided to cancel the membership. But they said they have to charge us one extra month of membership fee for April. I don’t get it and not quite sure what economic damage we have done to them that we have to compensate. To me, it is a pure greedy management policy. Before the cancellation decision, me and my husband decided maybe we will rejoin in winters, now I don’t think we will ever want to work with them.

Always love coming here. From Amelia who greets me at the counter (currently with a mask on but I can tell by her eyes she is smiling like usual) to all the trainers and the GM (who is always super energetic and kind), everyone here is very professional. This facility is super clean and the employees care about their gym. Glad I became a member 3 years ago. I’ll continue to refer people here as it’s a great place to work out, get healthy, and socialize.Go HIAC!

Zero stars should be an option. They have been charging us dues since June even though we put our membership on hold in March because it is unsafe to attend packed gyms at this time. I got the run around from the membership office-they pinged me to some lady named Debbie at the corporate office who was rude and snotty and basically told me tough luck deal with it and she will have someone named “Greg” the Regional Manager call me. Harbour Island Athletic Club is preying on families and charging them fees for services not used. Shameful and probably illegal. Don’t join this gym.

This place is a unique facility. The staff is on top of their game and it is worth every penny. Everything you hate about the people at the gym are kept out of this place. It is more of a sanctuary than an athletic club. I hate they are not open 24 hours because I can’t live there.

My husband and I love the gym. Its right across the street so its easy. LOL. That said we would love it anyway. Is a little more expensive but the staff is really nice and because of the cost its mostly professionals that come here. Gym is a little outdated though. They could use some upgrades. Still we love it.

Me and my husband live in Channelside and we joined this HIAC a while back. We stopped going because we couldnt get a situation resolved with the gym for a few months, but today my husband walked in, asked to talk to the General Manager Scott and he, not only took the time to talk to my husband but he listened to his concern, promised to look into it and resolved it the same day. We are very impressed with General Manager Scott, with his level of professionalism and commitment towards his gym members. We will definitely go back!

The HAIC is more than just a gym or athletic facility...Its a team of employees who truly seem to care about what they do for a living. Its a group of members who make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in and are never to busy for a friendly hello.Everything from the machines and weights, to the courts and the pools is kept clean and in top condition, and you dont have to worry about those members that like to hog machines during their 20-minute rest sessions between sets or the ones that mistake workout time for social media photo shoot time.A huge thank you to Sue for getting signed up and making me feel at home from day one! I definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for more than just your average workout spot!

Place is a scam. They allow you to try it for a day and tell you it’s 94$ for the month. You then look at the fine print and it’s a 3 month minimum which they fail to verbalize. It was obvious it was calculated and not a mistake. Decent gym, locker room was dirty with ppls trash in sauna from who knows how long and ants everywhere. Way too expensive for what it is. Staff acts however they want as they know you can’t get a hold of cooperate.

This club has some service oriented and friendly staff and pretty good amenities. However, the playground is atrocious ... unsafe, an eyesore and very disappointing to all the kiddos that would like to play there. It’s well past time to replace it or refurbish it. For 25$k HIAC could get a new playground and keep kids safe.

Not the best or cleanest gym in Tampa but it’s close to my residence. People are friendly enough. The workers aren’t that competent when it comes to staying on top of their job, especially the cleaning portion.Daycare workers are 50/50, not the best, not the worst, not always paying attention. What can you expect with so many forms of social media and distractions.Every other gym in the area does 3 hours of daycare for the same price... they only do 2 hours. Parents aren’t allowed into the daycare but anyone staff worker who works there is, Ive also seen a guy that they know very well. He doesn’t have any children but he has been allowed back there as well... that I am a bit weird about as to why you would allow anyone who works in the gym into the daycare but not the parents. Which is also not the case at other gyms but they do allow you to bring food in for your children... so it’s kind of a trade off... 2 hours of daycare not three and able for your children to eat a snack... but you could also give your children snacks at a daycare that has three hours and work out more..I did notice that recently they started charging for cycling classes, that used to be free, a lot of the classes used to be free... so I’m confused as to why they started charging for those. If you are ethnic you may get confused for a trainer if you’re in good shape, but that’s a compliment, right....Again, not the best gym in Tampa but close to my residence. Only really come here out of convenience.Always check what you get charged on your account at the end of the month.

Your paying for stature not for a good gym. It’s chaotic most times of the day in terms of children running around. Yes there are tens of kids at all time running around the halls, locker rooms/spa, gym, pool area. They are always throwing balls and essentially just being kids but for 100$ a month I’m not trying to join a kids camp. I told brook at the front who signed me up that I wanted to buy a month for my girlfriend and myself. She said great and gave us a little discount at 94$ for the month. She calls me close to a month later and tells me that we both signed up for 3 month Minumn(which I was never told about). I tell her I’m not interested and she says “nothing we can do you signed up for 3 months and if you don’t pay it will turn into collections for you” I kid you not she said this. I would never pay 600$ for 3 months at a gym that is chaotic. Gym itself C+, spa C( watched a employee cleaning the bathroom floors washing it all into the HOTTUBE as well!), customer service C. Do yourself a favor, take 30-40$ of that monthly 100$ and join a diffeeent gym and take that remaining 70$ and bring yourself To diner beucase this is a pretentious rip off of a country club/gym knockoff.

Awful Weight Room - Cons: There is too small of a selection of free weights and exercise machines, if there are more than 3 people in the weight room it seems crowded because its so small, there is only 1 flat bench so if someone is using the flat bench for dumbbells you cant use a flat bench for bench press, and Tennis costs $27/month extra. This is the only gym Ive ever been to that charges by age. If youre under 31 its $94/mo + $129 Enrollment fee and if you are 32-45 its $127/mo + $200 Enrollment fee. Also, they let little kids use the facilities too.Pros: Great amenities such as Treadmills with fans and tvs built in, Racquetball courts, Indoor Basketball Court, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Heated pool, Tennis courts (costs $20 extra). It really feels like a Country Club.If you are interested in working out hard and getting big, this isnt the gym for you. If you are interested in leisure sports, this may be the gym for you.Better Alternatives: Power House Gym off Kennedy, Lifestyles Gym off Swann

These people are THIEVES! I moved from Miami to Harbour Island and toured the facility with a representative named, Sue. I mentioned that everything looked quite outdated and old, she PROMISED they were starting a massive remodel that very next week in the Mens Locker Room with brand new steam rooms and saunas. Reluctantly, I signed on. On my first visit, the group fitness studio had no air conditioning and the mens locker room was filled with bandaids in the lockers, hair balls and cracked tiles in the steam room, moldy shower curtains and dust filled air vents.I emailed Sue and requested my membership cancellation considering the club was not how she described nor were the renovations actually underway (or actually happening). They charged me 3 months minimum to cancel my membership and then charged me a 4th. month on top of that! I drove the club to speak with the General Manager, Scott who refused to see me because he was “in a meeting” even though I said I would wait. Sue was no help and literally put me on the phone in her office with a corporate representative and she walked out. I have now been charged over $700 for stepping foot in that place TWICE!They are liars, deceivers, thieves and manage a glorified YMCA. The club’s conditions are horrible, it’s dirty, unkept and outdated. STAY AWAY - You are way better off hiring a personal trainer to come to your house for the amount of money they will scam you from and the condescending treatment they will give you.

I have been a member of HIAC for over 10 years. I love the place. Some of the excellent facilities that I use regularly include a 27 meter heated lap pool, indoor basketball court, child care facilities, free weights and machines area, a ton of tread mills, a dedicated spinning room, playground for the kids. They also have 15 clay tennis courts that I do not use enough. Very family friendly as well!I also wanted to give kudos to Mike Ridder who runs an excellent Boot Camp class on Tuesdays at 6:15.The staff is extremely courteous and professional. There may be newer and possibly lower cost gyms but I think HIACs facilities are hard to beat and the location is perfect for anyone downtown or in the immediate surrounding area.

Instructors do not show up to classes on time, or at all. Those working at the front desk are incompetent and rude. I received unprofessional emails addressed to the wrong person when I tried to address my complaints. It is entirely too expensive for what you get. Additionally, the weight room is very small. I would suggest any other gym but this one.

I have hated working out for 101% of my life for several reasons! Too name a few:1) It sucks; 2) Its exhausting; 3) Its boring and the list continuesWell, this place is conveniently located in a nice part of the city offering great views on the outside. Then, when you enter the building, its the Disney of gyms. It has indoor racquetball courts (my favs), indoor basketball courts, great classes, like Zumba (my second fav), clean showers, a steamy steam room, a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, towels on deck, weights, aaannnnnddddd the worlds friendliest staff! They actually remember you by name! I feel like a celebrity when i go over there.Well, that took care of the boring part for me. Now, I look forward to going to the gym :-)
