Jose at Fox rentals was pretty great! He was very friendly, very helpful. Gave us advice to keep us safe. Discounts that he didnt have to and was a lot of fun to chat with. We showed up 6 hrs early and wanted to drop the car off 8 hrs late and he made it affordable and started our girls vaca off great. Thanks Jose π
New beautiful location with fantastic service. I was expecting to be in line for a while since my flight got in after midnight but the 3 guys working multiple companies behind the counter were fast and effective at doing their jobs
We rented from Thrifty. This will be the last time I rent from them. It was part of a bundle with my airline. I tried to verify the rental before we departed but they had no way to very since it was done through the airline. When we arrived in Tampa the line from check in was crazy long. It took 90 minutes to get to the counter. When I final got to the car it had scratches, dings, and a cracked windshield. Getting out of the parking garage was a hassle too. They had signs directing you to the thrify exit, but when you get their the exit was closed and said to go to the hertz exit. This was a problem too several of us drove around until we could find a way to get over to the hertz side. Most of the lanes were blocked. Worst rental car experience of my life and I rental cars for 25 years.
I reserved with enterprise and the process when very smooth for pick up and drop off. Not a hassle at all will definitely use again!
Worst car rental experience ever! Waited in line close to an hour to pick up the car, even with a reservation. When we got to our assigned vehicle, it had almost 30,000 miles on it, had significant damage in multiple places, and was close to 3 years old. Had to go all the way back to rental counter inside the airport because none of the employees on the lot would help us. Assigned a different car that wasnt much better, but by that time we were so tired we just took the second car. Signs everywhere about extra cleaning done for Covid, but freshly washed cars still had bird poop on them sitting in a covered garage, so its hard to believe any special care was given to cleaning the inside.Hard upsales pitch on everything from prepayment of tolls to extra coverage and car upgrades. AVOID!
With rental car prices at an all time high I was quite pleased with the price, service and vehicle I rented from Hertz in Tampa. Hertz made it so easy to pick up & drop off my Nissan Rogue, which I loved the car btw. I hope Hertz will continue to offer great rates so I can continue to rent from them when Im in town.

The airport services are excellent but we experienced extremely long wait time at dollar rental car. They were more interested in up sales during a time of extreme holiday crowds. Took about 12+ minutes per person to complete the checkout service.
For someone without family in the area this would have been a mess, but i have family to help out on a 3day vacay that turned into a week because I miss my 1st reservation because I was stranded in Baltimore due to weather, when we arrived in Tampa the rental car center was over booked and deposits were $400 without a credit card and closing, day 2 no cars, by day 3 I was able to reserve a car with Avis/Budget and my week day trip was nice afterwards and touch free.
Signage to rental car return was not clear. Missed the turn and had to go around. Roads around were in construction state and somewhat difficult to negotiate. Appreciated the restrooms at the escalator! Train was prompt. Bad balanced good.
I really liked the fact that one line goes to like ten service stations for multiple car rental companies

SUCH A RIPOFF! I rented a small regular kia rio car for 2 people for 3 days on RENTALCARS.COM and they said it was going to be 264.02 at time of pick up but when i went to the AVIS windows it went up to over 500 why?? Id like to know too i only added the toll fee of course they offered other covers which i declined, they also put a 200 hold on your card which made it go up over 700. I guess being unexperienced and my first renting a car made it easier for them to take advantage of me. NEVER AGAIN renting a car thru rentalcars.com or AVIS.

The Dollar/Thrifty experience when we arrived was terrible. We waited in line for over an hour, and we were charged extra when we got our car. But on the way back into the airport, the TPA remote baggage check was WONDERFUL!! We were able to check our luggage instead of dragging it through the airport and on the trams. Very very appreciated!!! The gentleman there was courteous and helpful!

Tampa international airport rental car center is quick and easy. Just like the rest of the airport. Tampa international is very fluid and smooth. Ive probably only had a couple of times where its been kind of like Minneapolis Saint Paul international airport not smooth.
Car is gross inside and out. Needs to be cleaned like they promised. There are gross white spots on back of car seat and up toward roof of car in rear. Great running car tho. Price was very high due to rental car shortage. No discount was offered for any reason. Ill continue to ask for $ back for poor condition. Oh yeah, footprint on inside of windshield on passenger side too. Obviously not cleaned at all during this pandemic era. Wouldnt recommend this rental agency
You fly in, hop on a people mover, and then in a few minutes, you are at a super, really nice rental car center. Several different companies are located here. Some big names and some off-brand. Just be careful... some companies may have a MASSIVE wait. I always recommend joining the rewards programs for your rental compan and try to avoid the long lines if possible. Budget rental car was a 2 hour wait just in line in mid July 2021. Plan ahead. Nobody else had a wait.
Really fast and efficient experience, both at picking the car and returning it, although I may be spoiled by the Hertz Gold seamless experience, where I just need to pick any car in the corresponding section (no paperwork, no sales guy trying to push more insurance fees). Spacious, easy to navigate and well connected to the terminals by a train.
Easy check-in, pick up, and return. The airport is big but they have plenty of signs to direct patrons to the rental car center as well as the correct level for the company being used.
No fuss, no muss. Easy car retrieval and drop-off. Didnt deal with any persons from the car rental company.

Terrible! Hertz was a rip off. We rented a van because we have 6 people. When we got there they said we couldnt have it and could only give us a 5 passenger car!! Even though we paid fully in advance and took out added insurance they said we had to have a major credit card. They also said they could not give us back the difference in price!!
The only one I would go to is Enterprise. They have great service. I went to 3 others, they were overpriced and unacceptable

Hi. Rates n service was pretty good according at what we were looking. I didnβt not refuel gas tank, I use almost in full, so Im waiting for charge on it. I do not spect a big amount on gas refuel. Looks like we still can trust in American business!!
Such an easy experience for renting a car. A tram drops you off right in front of all the different companies. We rented from Alamo. They had a self serve kiosk which made the process quick and easy. In the parking garage, the cars were ready to be chosen and driven out, again, quickly and easily.
Car drop off is 24/7, well lit and SkyConnect to the terminal is also 24/7. Easy process! At least at 4:00. π
YIKES!!!!!! Finding the car rental area is easy; however, to pick up a rental is horrid! Instead of parking in the garage where the rental cars are located, you must park at the airports short term parking and then ask someone how to get back to the rental area. Its not a simple process. We parked in short-term, didnt see any signs in the airport that showed where to go. I asked an employee at the airport, and thats the ONLY reason we didnt get lost. Im a Tampa native, so if I have this much trouble, I cant imagine what someone who is from out of state would have. There must be a simpler process! Highly disappointed!!!

Plan for long lines and delays. Car rental sales people try to up sell you on fees your dont need. Sign up for loyalty membership due elite status to reduce wait times.
Car was not clean. Car has 40,000 miles on it. I have never rented a car with this many miles. The steering is loose. Car has a tendency to wander while driving. There is a maintenance light on in the dash. So still trying to figure that out. Is this car safe to drive.

My $300 rental ended up a $400 rental because of all the FEES!Be Warned!Why only two stars?When you get off your plane, tired, and then have to STAND in a long, slow line for 20 minutes with only your cane to keep you upright -just to get the car you have already reserved online- it kinda takes that whole customer service thing out of the equation.Not sure what other options there might be, but if I go back to Tampa, Ill certainly look into that. Dont wanna do THIS again! And whilst I certainly appreciate the train that takes me from the airport to the car rental building- having to hall all the luggage to it and drag it around with me left something to be desired, too. Just not a great experience overall.***Suggestion for Tampa- why not have seating available and have a take a number system like the DMV? At least people- and their kids and luggage, etc - could SIT and wait their turn. It would certainly help improve the situation.

Quick experience when using the kiosks. In and out and most times with no line. Just be sure to have a credit card ready, these places dont take debit cards.

This is pretty convenient, but airport luggage retrieval area could use more and bigger signage for tourist to figure out the route to rental car and extended parking.

It was pretty well laid out. I was in and out quickly. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease and time it took to roll out. I used Sixt car rental for the first time and it was nice.

Professional great system for picking up a car and dropping one off. Just a warning its very busy there allow yourself some time to get your car. It took nearly an hour when I was there. Drop off was much easier. Self service.
The only thing I do not like about is that they didnt have the car I wanted to so I end up with the Kia and its okay its not bad but you always more contour with a kind of car you want to drive so its all right you can try so you can experience on your own

Pretty efficient operation given how many people were in line waiting. We had a Reservation with Budget and the Avis counter helped us, which expedited processing the long line. Then I learned Avis owns Budget. Who knew? Regardless, the experience could only have been better if the woman helping us didnt seem so frazzled. She wasnt rude or condescending, just hurried and robot - like. Getting to the rental car was a snap, very easy, but getting out of the maze of parking lots and ramps was a little nerve wracking. But hey, I like wracking my nerves while on vacation. Thats what I live for.

Enterprise rental was great, I rent from them all the time no hassles or problems very smooth process.
Moving sidewalks and extreme escalators as well as an efficient tram system handle the human flow from terminal to terminal very well. Quick check at the counter then down an escalator to a massive ground level sea of awaiting car rentals from which you can select.
Car pick up was great. Car drip off not good. There was no one outside when we dropped off our car. Not even a person in the kiosk. We had to catch our flight with no receipt in hand. Have never had that happen in all of my years of traveling. Completely understaffed, which is hard to believe for how much they charged us for the rental car.

Takes a bit of time to get to the rental car service counters coming from the baggage claim area but the customer service is great (Alamo / National)!
Some signs or a late night help desk would be really nice for peoples flights who come in late. I blame that more on Dollar rental, but overall some sort of help in that region of the airport would be nice.

Leave yourself extra 30+ minutes after returning your car you need to take a Tram ride to Main Terminal, a short walk to ticketing if checking bag, then catch Tram to get to your gate. Good system just takes a minute.Car rentals cost more than the flight these days so make a point to reserve a car when you book air and cancel if needed. 0 cars available online when I arrived so canβt complain about price.
My first time renting a car at the Tampa Airport and I have to say I really like having a train that connects you from the airport to to a rental center with all the car companies. Hopefully they will start doing this at other major airports I know they have it at some. Its so 1980 have hundreds of shuttle buses filling up the terminal lanes to pick up customers that old-fashioned way. Not to mention congestion and environmental impact.Just do not rent from Fox car rental! We had our reservation with them as did apparently hundreds of other people because when we arrived all the counters were relatively calm except for Fox Rental which had a tiny counter with maybe one attendant and a line of customers that extended around the corner and down the hall and around the next corner. No one could believe that this was the actual line to wait in. We promptly canceled our reservation by calling the travel website where we booked it and I walked over to Alamo and was fortunate to get a car despite the busy weekend. It was worth paying a little extra to avoid at least two or three hours waiting in that wretched line.

Just get on the train to get to the rental center from the main terminal, pretty convenient and easy for anyone who comes to Tampa for the first time .
All the lady that took care of my son at the Dollar Rental she wasnt as pleasant but the manager that works there he was very nice and very respectable and he actually helped us out so the lady you know that was trying to help us she wasnt really trying to help us at all but the manager number one manager he was just all over the place open everything everyone trying to get the people out
Convenient to have all the rentals in one place. Also super convenient to have the luggage check in there instead of lugging it all the way to terminal.
Hertz was very easy. I did everything online, went to the garage and picked out my car and then just showed my ID as I left. No hassle and the car worked out great.
Woman in customer service desk in the garage was by far the best employee at Thrifty. Dont even waste your time calling the 1-800 number to get anything resolved.
While the wait was a little long, because of multiple customers, our host was very nice, professional and courteous! She made it worthwhile!
