My catalytic converter needed replacement and I was referred to Austin’s Pro Max from my car repair shop. They were able to see me and fix my car by the end of the day. Very communicative and helpful! Would highly recommend them.

Unfortunately, I had both catalytic converter‘s stolen off my truck. When I called Austins ProMax, they were able to see me same day, provide me an estimate, and get the work completed by closing time. Prices were great, and they kept me informed of the progress. I’ve taken my truck there previously to have a custom exhaust installed. That to was great work, so much that I’ve actually had compliments on the exhaust. I highly recommend this shop

Dropped my car off at 8am on a Saturday (since they dont take appointments) to get the exhaust tips and mufflers replaced due to corrosion. They called soon after with an update and options for replacement, and had it turned around by noon. Very fast and courteous service - I felt like I was in good hands and they got my car looking great again. Would recommend these guys to anyone in the area looking for great service.

Short Story: They did not install an exhaust system as I requested, but fixed it under warranty. However, they installed too small of a catalytic converter the second time and refused to replace it. The price was a ripoff given the lack of their claimed performance specialty in knowledge, training, and ability.Full Story: I have been to Austin’s pro max for maintenance and exhaust work in the past to great satisfaction, but my most recent experience here was unexpectedly bad.I brought my Chevy K2500 truck in to have an exhaust system fabricated after installing headers, with the goal of maximizing performance. We drove it in using one oxygen sensor without issue, to which Austin’s would install two oxygen sensor bungs in the collectors for both factory fitted oxygen sensors to be used. I requested that 2.5” pipe be run from each header collector to a Y-pipe, where it would then continue at 3” pipe all the way back, including the catalytic converter, muffler, and over-axle bend. Initially, Austin’s installed the 2.5” pipes from the headers to the Y-pipe as requested, but only installed single 2.5” piping from Y-pipe back including catalytic converter and muffler. Only the tail pipe was 3”. They agreed to fix it under warranty the next day in the 3” size as initially requested, including the catalytic converter and muffler. After driving only 15 miles, I noticed the exhaust temperature at the tail pipe outlet was unusually hot. I inspected the catalytic converter and found it to be extremely hot. Upon looking up the part number for the converter, I found it to be undersized for the vehicle. The truck is a 454 C.I.D./7.4 L engine with a registered GVWR of 10,000 lbs; the magnaflow 99039HM catalytic converter that Austin’s installed was rated for a maximum limit of 378 C.I.D./6.2 L, 6375 lbs GVWR limit.When I returned a third time with both the information on the converter and the EPA catalytic converter requirements, Austin’s refused to fix it, making claims such as “we’ve installed these converters on this size engine before without problem,” “you only have one oxygen sensor installed,” “it would be purple if it was overheating, and claimed it wouldnt be a problem for emissions testing. During this third and last occasion, there were two brand new oxygen sensors installed. Further, one of the bungs was not centered on the drilled hole and I had to use a dremel so the oxygen sensor could even thread in correctly.I used HPtuners VCM scanner to verify that the air/fuel ratio was correct across normal driving conditions, and the engine was not running lean. COT, Catalyst OverTemperature protection, has always been enabled. The engine itself is in excellent, like-new condition after an overhaul with all-new OEM components in the fuel and ignition systems.After more driving, the catalytic converter case has now turned purple and the once-chrome exhaust tip (which is >6 feet downstream of the converter) has now turned tan from overheating. See pictures attached. The pipe bends are nice, but that’s about it. The quality of work and lack of their claimed “professionally trained performance specialization,” ESPECIALLY considering the steep price, will never have me returning, nor can I recommend this shop to anyone else.

My husband had a horrible exhaust leak. We dropped the truck off Saturday afternoon and got it back Tuesday! We haven’t had any issues with it so far! They told us the exact amount and if the bolts broke off during the process it would be $100 more a hour. We paid almost exactly when we thought we would spend! We got recommend by Green Pea Auto that we bought the truck from! Thanks for fixing our truck!

Bought in my C7 Z06 for a exhaust upgrade first it was rattling my peddling and a serious vibration thru car brought it back they didnt want to look but did and looked at it with no real effort got car back still vibration called them guy says they want to charge me to fix it bought it to another muffler shop they where quickly to fix problems bolts hitting tunnel also ask them to keep my stock mufflers they did but instead of loosening bolt to take off they cut them with a Sawzall like a hack job on a C7 Z06 wanted to keep others with only 2000 miles on them really disappointed

Some mixed reviews here, but from my personal experience, Pro Max has come through TWICE in this last week.Last weekend my friend was stuck in town with a bad alternator on her Jetta VR6. Complicated as hell alternator removal/installation on that engine, and literally EVERY SHOP we called either 1) wasnt about it, 2) needed days because they had to order and install their own alternator, 3) was well above at least $500, or all of the above. Randomly called Austins Pro Max on a whim and they say they could do it that day AND had no issue installing the alternator we got from AutoZone! Couple hours and $250 later my friend was good to go.TODAY I took my truck in early because the differential was leaking a bit and making winding noises. Turns out the pinion needed tightening (bad job on my end) but even so the knowledge and advice their technician, Esteban, had on it was not just helpful but relieving. Noise is gone along with that mental frustration and I now know better for next time. AND Ive found a reliable shop!Seriously, I get the technicalities of warranty and profit of other shops selling their own parts, and absolutely nothing wrong with that. But if you simply need your vehicle back on the road and feel confident about it, COME HERE. Its good to know that there are still some shops that can operate the good ol fashioned way if need be: sheer honest knowledge and labor at a fair price.Ill definitely be recommending this shop and should I ever have car trouble past my ability, this will be my go to. Absolutely impressed and thankful.

They dont do transmissions. Although earlier i had a pre purchase inspection. Was very detailed. Should have went back again. Although they want vehicle without appointment. Then keep vehicle for hours.

Excellent experience.I called around to see how easily I could get my alternator replaced. The responses ranged from weeks! (what??).. to the part coming in 4-5 days and then the work beginning.They were able to not only get the part I needed the same day (being notified after 12:00pm) but finishing the work and getting my car back to me before 5:00pm. I had a clutch changed by Austins. They completed the job and I picked up the truck. On my way home I noticed my center console shifting around and the check engine light was on. Upon closer inspection they had broken the mounting locations when reinstalling the console around the shifter. I spoke with Mike about it and he told me to return the next day to fix the issues. I returned Saturday at 8AM, the check engine light was on because they forgot to plug in an 02 sensor. Mike was not there to address the broken console, yet he told me he would be there the day prior. I called Mike on Monday and he told me that he would order the center console for replacement. Well, he never did that. He never called me again. I also discovered that my 12V lighter extension was missing from the truck along with my cell phone charging cable. The truck also developed an exhaust leak either from where they unbolted it from the manifold or from where they cut off and welded the exhaust Y pipe back together for removing the transmission quicker. All in all, I would never bring another vehicle back to any Austins location nor would I recommend them to anyone.

I had an exhaust put on my truck, overall it was a good installation. They messed up a couple things under the hood to save time I’m guessing but the service manager was professional and fixed it right away. I think a couple of the techs that originally worked on my truck were not professional by any means and leaned on my engine bay, bending and breaking a few things to save time but ended up costing the company more time and money. One of the employees, Dan, was not professional and kept rolling his eyes at me for whatever reason. Anyways overall pretty good company! Most of the people there were friendly and professional

This place was recommended to us by University Place Auto Service as they only install direct fit exhaust parts and would not weld in a new flex pipe. Glad they did. John told us the repair would cost only $120 over the phone. I was honestly expecting them to increase that quote after inspecting the car. Nope! Had us out the door in a few hours and at the price he quoted. Perfect place to take an older car for a quick and affordable exhaust repair. Very pleased! Thank you!

Have used them in past with great rusults,got a quote to install a single 3 exhaust on my 1986 Chevy truck with me supplying the muffler and tip,then dropped the truck off the following week since the price given was good.Did not hear from them all day after dropping off at 8am so went in at 3pm and was told they had called multiple times and left messages,which my phone clearly showed they did not,further more they said it was going to be more money than what was originally quoted the week prior.I was given the go away price at the end of it so will be going another route.MAKE SURE TO GET QUOTES IN WRITING

Got us in same day I called them. Needed new exhaust system. Took about two hours. Price was good. Cat back duals. Only complaint is pipe runs within a quarter inch of mud flaps on each side and should have cut off bottom of support rods that hang down by tail pipes.

9/20/20I want to start off by saying that I have taken my car here a few times between 2018 and 2020 to have oil changes or other things done and Ive always had a pleasant and professional experience. Always good service, and always had my car back by the end of the day. Trust in my mechanic is, of course, a big thing to me. And until now Austin promax had my trust.Because I havent driven much since March of 2020 I havent needed to bring my car in for anything. But since I recently bought a used 2009 Subaru I decided to take it in for an oil change and to ask if it needed anything else done. They completed my oil change and checked out my car within an hour which I was pleased with, until they told me everything was wrong. Besides saying I needed all new brakes and rotors, they also said I needed an engine flush, along with other things. The bill would be between $800-$900. I completely believed them of course, but then a family member begged me to have the car checked out at another car mechanic that our family has used for 15 plus years and has always been honest with us. I was happy to hear that, after an hour of looking the car over, my familys mechanic couldnt find a single thing that needed to be replaced anytime soon. We even pointed out what we were told needed to be replaced and they looked it over and said that it wasnt true.Bottom line is that I will not be returning to pro Max or referring any of my friends to it. Granted, there could be a number of reasons why they gave me bad information. Maybe someone was having a bad day, maybe they dont like to work on Subarus, maybe I looked gullible, I dont know. Again, this is the first time Ive had a negative experience with them, but once that trust is broken what valid reason would I have to go back?

Guess I should have read the reviews before bothering to go. I recieved nothing but attitude and guess what I wont be back. Wasnt happy with the job done to our vehicle and Im glad we didnt bring my other car due to the managers comment when I came back. I took my car in today to get my A/C recharged and mount two radiator mounts. They charged me $100 to put in two mounts. Instead of doing the job right they did it as fast as possible and bent my metal car frame to pry the mounts on. I had to go back to the shop because one of the mounts was not even put on the radiator. I asked for a discount because of damage done to car and the manager told me no damage was done when they clearly bent the lip of my radiator and metal frame supporting the mounts. Poor service and overcharged for 5 min job not done right.

This auto repair facility had strong communication prompt service we had a vehicle dropped off for a pre-purchase inspection they found two items that needed to be addressed and repaired we will definitely consider them for any other future repairs if were in the area.

Austins Pro Max is A little on the expensive side but not too bad. I would say they are well with the little extra they charge. Their mechanics all know what they are doing and they are one of the only place around I can find same day service consistently.

Made appt to have the high preassure fuel pump on my mercedes changed. Had it special ordered.. Took my car in paid $1,900. Dollars... I go pick up my car and drive away... Same problems start happening... On the way home ... So i go back and get threatened by the manager john w. He was mad that he put the wrong part in my car. Called to get some muffler work done, was told to come on down and the wait was 20 min and I would get a call with some options after they looked at the vehicle. 90 minutes later I walk into the garage and apparently the manager is just raising the vehicle. Over the next 20 minutes he takes 3 phone calls helping other customers and then comes over and says, yup both exhaust gaskets leak, about $450 to fix. LOL I say I came in for an exhaust upgrade. I dont have an exhaust leak and they wont be getting my business ever.

So i come in wit a bolt on piece muffler a simple job all that had to be done was bolt it in. Wow that wasnt the case. I got here at 1030am its now 2:40pm still here when i walk in and ask how much it will be they said jus about 1hours worth once it was on the air they came back out an said it needs to be welded. It will be $153 plus tax let me tell you that i did ask for my keys 2 times so i could live an they made up excuses not to get them to me so if you ever bring your car in keep in mine it will be hold hostage an they will not let you live even if you ask multiple times. An am still here waiting. I finally got out of there by around 3 pm crazy.

John took great care of my 06” Subaru took care of my control arm and when the part was faulty called up warranty for me and took care of the rest ! Fair deals and they also did my breaks ! Rudy was also a great deal of help will definitely be going back.

These guys brought out the growl on my 2019 Corvette. I had been looking at performance aftermarket exhaust kits that would have cost between $1500-2000, but they were able to build me a custom solution that sounds hundred times better for a tenth of the price, while I waited, and I was a walk in.The only problem I have now is I can’t stop driving my car cause it sounds like it drives now. I’m going back in two weeks for custom tips and they’ll be my first choice for all future exhaust work.

I had a box truck, an E450 van. I had the fuel pump and the pressure rail line sensor fixed but I quickly found out it wasnt fixed because not long after leaving the shop the truck started doing the excite samething that it was doing before and this time it almost cost me my motor my guys had it towed to a shop in portland that they were near to this shop ends up doing a wonderful job fixing another shops mistakes so i pay that shop and they gave me all the parts and told me that if I need them they would do any thing to help me get my refund back. So I contacted Chris At Pro max on 56st in Tacoma, he came up with every reason he could so to have to do somthing else or to have another thing to look at i just told him straight, hey brother how come you have to look at every single thing when I showed you the problem, this shop did not change the fuel filter when you changed the fuel pump that was supose to be changed simotenously. There was rust in the fuel pump from the fuel filter when i showed Chris, he said you done want us to go in side your truck but you might have to I agreed that as long as i could be present then that was fine. Chris walks out and walks back in and offers me 350 dollars on the spot but I paid them 1100 dollars I didnt make an excuse I paid the cost why should i take less when the job that was done costed me more an extra 668.00 that i paid the other shop that did it right i lost money time and Insurance on the truck while it was sitting because of Pro Max lack of respect for people of color. Chris the man that i was talking to the hole time was calm and we communicated well but that number was insulting all the same. So the owner busts in and started shouting demands, and tells me that i need to shut up. But i was talking very respectfully at a respectful tone. I said sir and I began to tell him what they had done wrong they did not replace the fuel filter the fuel fuel filter was old and when they changed the fuel pump they should of changed the fuel filter if they changed anything at all. Then out of no where the owner says your Irate call the Police! but I wasnt Irate neithor was i talking loud, call the cops now. So I waited for the police feeling alienated and alone I waited for the police to arrive and sadly none showed up. I was calm he had no reason to say that he wanted to call the police so I feel that he did it because I was black and black people are supose to be afraid of the police. I feel like he called because of the color of my skin. He hoped i would run he raical profiled me and then he executed his judgment on me he had decided he wasnt paying nothing and this was how. Call the police on and innocent man who just wanted his refund, This is very wrong on so many levels.

They Wouldnt print me up an estimate of how much theyd charge me for Labor when other shops happily did, But would price match vocally for my money. When all i needed was a print out of how much theyd charge me for their work. Awesome job! I was able to get a totally 100% custom exhaust for my BMW E30, with a M60B40 V8 swap in one day! I wasnt sure what I wanted in the way of mufflers, they talked with me for a bit and made some recommendations, They nailed it, I got the exact sound I wanted. They started working on it about 8:30am, and finished at about 4p,. Impressive work, Fast, reasonable price. These guys are true car guys, who have a passion for their work!Thanks again guys!

This used to be The hotrod spot. I must say I am disappointed with the lack of help and parts in stock or parts they say they cant get and then told me to goto Autozone. No SBC thermostat housing in stock at all🤔. No heaterhose. Had a cheap AF heater hose fitting. hotrods are still IN and there needs to be a Real hotrod shop again. Not just a muffler shop.

Got my straight pipe on my 18 sti done there. Welds look really good and you get bang for the bucks. Excellent service and quality. I also got my front lip installed there and they did a awesome job. Definitely a place to go to get things done for your car!

Poor workmanship, it’s almost as if a child had worked on my vehicle. One star is too many!!!Disorganized (depending on who I talk to, they have no clue if my car is repaired); they typically don’t inform me when I can pick up my vehicle (I have to inquire); if there is a problem after I had my vehicle worked on, I am brushed off because they have no time. They come across as arrogant, dishonest, rude, and dismissive.They owe me a repair, and I’d rather eat the cost and go somewhere else. While I might not be a wealthy car collector who has the cash to dump on them while getting the wool pulled over my ears, I will make sure I spread the word about how bad this business treats their customer while gladly taking my money.Screw You, Austin and crew!

These guys did the exhaust on my truck about 8 years ago. A weld on a hanger finally broke. I took it in, expecting to be charged for the repair because, you know... who warrantees a job for 8 years? But the guys were really nice and fixed it for free. Thats some excellent customer service.
