Very reasonable pricing as well.They not only did a great job with the paint and in fantastic time (dropped off for Monday morning - picked up Tuesday afternoon), but I was pleasantly surprised to find my car spotless on the interior as well - floor mats washed off and all.Its the little things sometimes, and I truly appreciate that extra added detail. I will now be using this business for routine car maintenance as well as my fiance and will be recommending to friends + family. Rudy Scmid was great as always! I dropped my daughter’s car to have a new headlight, taillight and the front fender repaired in the morning, and picked it up the next day. I just wanted to leave a review for Rudy Schmids Total Car Care as they we so excellent from start to finish. Brought my vehicle in to get the bumper replaced from an accident. They made the entire process so easy for me and handled everything from my rental car, to dealing with the Insurance adjuster and all the financial end of it. While there I thought I needed new brakes and rotors, and asked them to replace them while my car was there, but after they test drove it and inspected them, they told me I had a lot of life left to them and that I really did not need them at this time! Instead of just replacing them because I thought I needed them. Totally honest company...When I got my car back they had completely vacuumed and cleaned the inside and the outside! It looked awesome! I would never bring my car anywhere else...they do it all! Thank you so much Rudy Schmids!!

Brought my new car in to get it protected from CNY weather. Rust Check to keep it protected and costs half of what the dealership tried to offer me at a discount rate with other similar services. They did a undercoating my vehicle a 2021 outstanding job they put a brand new it trailer hitch and wired the lights great job and when they were done the undercoated the new trailer hitch I highly recommend going to them and this is my third time return to them

These guys are NO BS, if it doesnt make sense to do a body/rust repair because your car is worth next to nothing anyways they will let you know that, they dont do any hackey stuff and the turnaround times are great. They work magic on the frame puller. Go here for sure.

Dont take your vehicles here..left new york 2018 had my used 31ft. rv serviced at rudys...what a nightmare from a couple days to 3 weeks...AND THEN IN VIRGNIA THE BLOATED OIL COOLING LINES THAT WERE NOT REPLACED DURING SERVICE....ENDED UP BEING A $400 EMERGENCY REPAIR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED....AND ALL RUDYS HAD TO SAY WAS THEY PUT NEW CLAMPS ON THE OLD BLOATED LINES....OVER PRICED AND RUDYS SUCKS BUTT......

I had my rust- proofing done there . At that time I was quite impressed by their professionalism and timeliness. So much so, that I asked for a quote on a bit of damage I had gotten over the previous winter.In February, 2020, I was involved in a not-at-fault collision . The staff at Rudy’s very kindly and carefully helped me understand the insurance tangles.As they began the work, they kept me updated all along the way. All work was completed as expected according to their estimates, and perhaps a little ahead of time . They have my loyalty wrapped up !!

Rudy does excellent work. They were honest about when they could start the project (about two weeks out). They didn’t just lie and say they can start immediately to get the vehicle in there. Once they started working, they responded to all my calls and emails promptly. They dealt with all of the insurance company things that I never saw. The vehicle was completed when they promised and appears to be in perfect condition. Highly recommend.

The staff At Rudy Schmid was wonderful as they helped me navigate through the details of my first motor vehicle accident. They helped facilitate the contact with the other insurance company as well as arranging for the rental company to pick me up to get the rental.The shop did a magnificent job repairing my Sienna and kept me updated on the progress of the repairs and time table for completion. My van looks wonderful and the sliding door works flawlessly. I wish that other caretakers on my my life would make a similar effort to make things smooth and keep me informed . Rudy Schmid is an old fashioned family run local business. You can tell you arent at some chain store when you walk in. In 2018 I went to Jefferys auto body for the collision insurance pic and the inspector commented on the great condition of my used Ram 1500. I asked them (being a body shop) if undercoating was worth the money and the 2 Jefferys employees said yes. I then asked where to have it done and they both said Rudy Schmid at the same time. When a local well respected body shop, who see the innards of cny cars every day recommends a shop, listen to them. I visit Rudy Schmid every year for Rust Check re-application as recommended and I am certain that if I have a problem or question, they will be sure that I will leave happy.

Finding a trustworthy auto shop was on the top of my to-do list when I settled in Syracuse and I am so thrilled that I found Rudy Schmid on the first try. Their prices are reasonable and the work done is fantastic. They will always give you a quote before doing work and will be honest about what is in your best interests. They are also very efficient and run on time. I highly recommend going to Rudy Schmid with any car troubles, general maintenance, or general questions.

I took my car here because they gave me the lowest quote for what needed to be replaced, and they had decent reviews... my experience was poor. The mechanic damaged the body of my car, and damaged parts to my car while installing a new part. When I realized all this damage, I continuously tried to get PJ Smidt to repair the damages to my car; and even offered to pay for the parts, there by they only needed to install them for free. Each time (3 times) I called, and once went in person, I was placated by PJ, and he refused to acknowledge that his mechanics did the damage to my car: a mechanic named Lonnie. In the end, I was told to leave by PJ, and never come back. I couldnt believe the unprofessionalism, and that they caused over a thousand dollars in damages to my car. Ive since taken my car to repaired, and I regret even going to Rudy Smidts. This was only my experience, and yours may duffer... but although their quotes are relatively cheap, they dont take care of your vehicle. If you are looking for a good, reasonable price and good service, and good professionalism in the North Side area of Syracuse, then I strongly recommend Davco Automotive on Catawba Street.And mark my words, someone from Rudy Smidts will comment on my review, about how they tried to remedy my situation, or how they tried to work with me and its all fmy fault... but I am a very reasonable person, who gave them 3 opportunities to make things right before I wrote this review. BEWARE OF RUDY SMIDTS! Bottom line.

This is long overdue. My 11 year old daughter and I visited Syracuse for the first time this past June, 2018. My daughter and I were new to the world of competitive Horseback riding...Syracuse was one of her first Big Shows. It was HOT and our A/C had stopped working. Rudys told me to bring it in and they would fit it in. I needed to get back to the show..my daughter was scheduled to ride, and the hotel shuttle was painfully late. I must of appeared anxious...staff kept asking if I needed a ride..offered to drive me! I made it back in time and the shuttle did finally arrive. What sticks with me ..along with having AC working again! was the kindness, compassion, and effort demonstrated to an Out of Towner from Maine. My repair was not a big ticket item. Other shops had told me No Way we can fit you in. Rudys did. Thank you Rudys!

This was my first experience with Rudy Schmid and from start to finish the process was flawless. Our commercial truck arrived at the shop with significant ($25k) damage. We picked it up last week and it looks brand new. The work was extensive and meticulous. Communication was timely and forthright. While we hope not to need more collision services anytime soon, there is no doubt we will call Rudy Schmid if we do!

I have had my cars Rust Checked at Rudys many times over the years. Diane and PJ always make sure I’m satisfied. I have had one body repair and paint job there also. The car looked better after they were done with it than when it was new.

Rudy Schmid is my go to for suspension service on my Class ARV. They have the knowledge and facilities and they do great work with a positive and professional attitude. They also applied Rust Check to my new coach which is good protection for a substantial investment and certainly more practical than the traditional tar-based material.

Two months ago I brought in my car for an oil change and new breaks. I then took my car back for some body work and snow tires. They gave me a quote for the work, called to confirm the work in progress, and the work that was done was what I had asked for and for the price they quoted me. The women at the service counter are wonderful. I would highly recommend Rudy Schmid.

Rudy Schmid Total Car Care is outstanding in every regard. The entire staff is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and kind. They treat you as if you are a member of the family. I brought my car in for bodywork after an accident. They gave me the best estimate of three that I had and worked closely with my insurance company to simplify the entire process, including arranging a rental car--taking all the stress and worry out of the procedure. Initially, they thought the job would take four days but then more damage was found and so they estimated it would take a week. Then I got a call just 2.5 days later the car was finished early! When does THAT ever happen?! And what a tremendous job the mechanics did! The car looks brand new. They even washed and buffed it before I arrived. I cannot speak more highly of this local family business that dates back to 1930. They provide high quality and respectful service that you just dont find anymore. I highly recommend them if you need car service in Onondaga County.

Since I bought my brand new Tacoma I have been going to Rudy Schmid for Rust Check rust protection. One day I had a mishap where I damaged my tailgate on my brand new Tacoma and as always Rudy Schmid took care of me in a very professional and friendly manner, they got me a new tailgate and painted it, it was like it never happened it was like having my brand new truck back. I can not say enough good things about the service I received at Rudy Schmid Total Car Care. I have moved back to the area in the last year after living in Texas for 35 years. I own a 1997 Honda Civic that is in excellent condition after no winters with salty roads and regular maintenance. Last summer my vehicle was hit in a parking lot and the front bumper was torn off and it sustained some front end damage but no engine damage. Unfortunately the other owners insurance decided to total my car. I knew it was worth repairing so I contacted the people at Rudy Schmid after a recommendation from my brother-in-law. After reviewing pictures I sent them, they said they could repair it for less than the insurance company was going to pay me for it. So it was towed 60 miles and it was completely repaired just as I was quoted! I was so pleased and I have never been disappointed in the any work I have had done here. I am so glad I found a reliable and honest car repair. I would highly recommend them for any of your car needs.

I have never had a bad experience when I have dealt with the Rudy Schmid family!! Today I took my perfectly fixed 2015 car to my dealer for regular maintenance. He had the car fax on the automobile and said that Rudy Schmid did a really good job and he wouldnt have known that there was anything done except for the car fax. They have always worked well with our insurance company. I feel that the pressure is relieved when I hand my car keys to them. Their Dad would be proud of his family, as he taught them well. I feel bad giving only two stars but after reconsideration I decide I couldnt possibly give three.First off it took a month to get my car back.. which I would not even complain about had I not realized a few things after the fact.My car was vandalized and Im still finding plenty of glass everywhere. #annoying dashboard etc.. between seatsI also had ask that they change my wipers, providing my own. When I picked my car up they mentioned that one wiper didnt fit and that I would have to exchange it etc.. not a big deal or so I thought. Two days later driving home through a snow storm I quickly realized I had only one wiper... they told me the wiper didnt fit, they didnt tell me I was missing a wiper entirely. I assumed they put my old one back on. Hello that would make sense right?Anyway its unfortunate that I have to give such a crappy rating. The people were nice/friendly that I encountered in person at least.

Great work done by Rudy Schmid on fixing my husbands car after an accident. They completely went over the vehicle and kept me updated of progress. They made it very convenient to order the rental car right from them at the time of appraisal so I didnt have to make arrangements for transportation. I drove my Mustang (yes… I am Mustang sally) for the first time this week and was remembering this same time last year when we pulled the car out of storage. I wanted to give a quick shout out to Rudy Schmid Total Car Care… My husband had picked up the Mustang from storage and drove it to work. On the way, he hit a piece of broken radial tire in traffic on 81 North. The team at Rudy Schmid Total Car Care were able to come to the scene and immediately tow my baby to the shop for repairs. This is not the first time we used Rudy Schmid for a repair (and none of them were my fault!) The team at Rudy Schmids is second to none. Unlike other repair shops, they took the time to properly and thoroughly repair a vehicle that would have been declared a total loss anywhere else. The entire left side of my truck was damaged/smashed, and all of the interior air bags were deployed after a major accident. My truck now looks brand new thanks to Rudy Schmidts incredible work. I brought my car in because my breaks were shuddering upon use. They had my car for 30 minutes and said nothing is wrong with it and it must be a sensor. I requested they look again because I don’t know anything about cars and my breaks make me nervous about driving. Came back and stated I needed wheel bearings. Quoted me for 80$. Just got my bill for approx. 380$!!!! Although this might be standard cost, I stated I knew nothing of cars. Their communication skills are egregious and I am shocked by their good reviews.

I learned about Rust Check and Rudy Schmid Total Car Care from a friend who had been going to Rudy Schmid for several years. I have been having applying Rust Check to both of my vehicles for a few years now. One of my vehicles is a 10 year old minivan with no signs of rust. I live 1.5 hrs away and drive to the shop annually to have Rust Check applied. Great product and great customer service at the shop.

Rudy Schmids was absolutely phenomenal to work with. Most importantly, the body work was expertly done - I cant tell where my car was repaired and painted! The icing on the cake is, they were so easy to work with. They coordinated activities with my insurance and auto rental companies, so I didnt need to worry about everyone being on the same page.

I recently lost my husband who used to take care of the car and I needed a repair and had to deal with insurance, and estimates and all the details that go into getting a car fixed. One of the absolute WORST service experiences Ive ever had with any business. Refused to even give me an estimate on my damaged fender because, we would have to blend the paint into the hood and surrounding parts, and I just dont want to do it. Are you kidding me?! Youre a collision repair center/body shop. Didnt care that I was willing to pay them for the work, regardless of how much it may cost. So completely unprofessional.Update: Since for some reason I cant reply direct to owner. I asked to use my own parts. When they declined (for understandable reasons) I requested an estimate to repair the fender with THEM handling all of the parts. Still refused to even give me an estimate.

I have owned 17 cars since 1969 and in that time used many car care services. Four years ago I purchased a 2011 Honda Fit and wanted to get it rust proofed. I had heard from several people Rudy Schmid offered a service called Rust Check and that it was a very different and excellent rust proofing application. It is indeed. That experience has led me to use many of their other services including body work, oil changes, brakes and tires. When they take your summer tires off to mount your snow tires they store them for you until your next seasonal change...each time they are rotated. Appointments are always on time. I have found their pricing to be very competitive and often less than other car care services. The people who work there PJ, Diane, Ron, Missy and Lonnie are professional, courteous and friendly. A great place to have your car serviced. I originally posted the previous review eight months ago. Since then I have had another Rust Check treatment, a tire and oil change, NYS inspection and just two days ago I had an air conditioner cooling recharge and new ventilation system blower motor installed. Lonnie the mechanical advisor once again came through for me with courteous professional advise and service. These folks are just the best.

If you need body work on your car, this is the place to go. They do excellent work. Just had my fender fixed and im exceedingly pleased.

What a great experience. Diane, PJ and their staff make you feel like you are part of their family. Service is done right, on time and is affordable. The body work I had done was spectacular; Ron even helped ease me through the pain of leaving my car in someone else’s hands! I would like to say Rudy Schmids body shop is one of the better ones around. I have used them several times for repairs from accidents that were not my fault. They were very helpful. I have been there twice this year, and they seemed to fit me in. My brother used to work for Cazenovia college and they would bring all their vehicles in to the shop. The staff is very friendly, I would recommend the place to anybody. five stars .....

I have a 2006 Nissan Titan and have taken it every year for Rust Check at the Rudy Schmid shop, after all these years I have had more compliments about how good my truck looks for its age. I was informed about this method by a friend and have to admit I thought it was not believable that it would protect a vehicle from rust (but it does) and after ten years I am a firm believer and would recommend it to anyone who wants their vehicle looking great after driving on the winter roads of N.Y.

My husband had is Honda Ridgeline done and just raves about the service. We werent left waiting when we showed up and it was finished when promised. I cant wait to get mine done!

This is the first review I have ever written, but I had to do it because Rudy Schmids has been the best car repair shop that I have taken my car to in Syracuse. I have lived here for almost 40 years. My present car is 11 years old and I love it. I take good care of it and Rudy Schmids has helped me keep it in great condition. Their reminders of when to bring it in for servicing and their patience in explaining to me the things that have to be done are wonderful. In addition, both my husband and I have had them do a repair that required matching metallic paint. About 8 years ago, I hit a deer and the paint job they did was awesome! My husbands car was metallic silver and the result was also wonderful. They are reliable, honest, and friendly. They know their stuff. You will not be disappointed.
