Had to replace my battery and thought I needed to have the battery registered since the window didnt go up all the way. Another repair shop quoted me $60. Called Das Mechanic and he explained over the phone in several minutes how to reset the windows. Thank you!

TL;DR: If you have a European vehicle in need of repairs and you value integrity as well as the cash in your wallet, seriously, stop looking - Das Mechanic run by Gabor and team is where you need to take your business.My 2012 Volkswagen GTI required critical repairs and I had taken it to 2 different well-known European car dealerships in the Madison area for diagnostics and estimates. The dealership starting with a big Z, gave me an estimate of $7300 minimum; another location told me to junk my vehicle and buy a new one from them. I know enough about my vehicle mechanically to know that I was getting fleeced and charged for services and parts that were not needed, so I went looking for a reputable, highly-rated, independent mechanic specializing in European cars.On my initial stop into Das Mechanic to talk with Gabor and to show him the estimate I had received from the big name dealership, he immediately knew with high confidence what the problem was with my vehicle just based on my description alone. Gabor took things a step further by popping my vehicles hood right there and SHOWED to me and explained to me WHAT was going wrong and WHY. It was at this point that I knew I needed to get the fixes done here and I would NOT be bringing my vehicle back to the dealership to get hoodwinked.Throughout the repairs Gabor stayed in contact with me as needed through email and phone, even going so far as to send me several photos along the way that he took of my vehicles engine to show me the extent of the build-up and damage done in certain areas. No stock photos or vague diagrams ripped from the internet - just straight and to the point with hands-on evidence. He also made recommendations along the way while giving me upfront and fair pricing so I knew just what I was getting myself into every step of the way.When all the repairs were completed including other components that needed to be replaced and the dealership had missed in their inspection, my bill to Das Mechanic was $2,613 - a FAR cry from the $7300 big-Z wanted to charge me.My vehicle is running fantastically now and Gabor himself called me afterward to check in with me and make sure everything was running as expected!As long as Das Mechanic is in business and I own a European vehicle, I will always be bringing it to Gabor and the team - hands down no questions asked.Thank you Gabor! The Google reviews on Das Mechanic, Gabor, and his work, made me very comfortable looking to him for service on my new (new to me at least) BMW. Im in the service industry, so relationships matter to me. To me there is comfort in knowing that the guy you hand your keys to is the guy who is going to work on your vehicle, and the guy who is going to hand you your keys back. Taking care of your vehicle is important to Gabor, because taking care of YOUR vehicle is HIS business. I brought my 2006 VW Jetta 2.0t with a suspected hydraulic leak in the slave cylinder. It was at another shop, and after $850 it had the same issue. Das Mechanic quickly diagnosed the car correctly and with an accurate and fair estimate. My car is slightly modified, and I was given the option to go with a heavier clutch and its perfect. Also needed some other minor maintenance that was also easily handled and within the estimate amount. I was informed and updated with pictures and video of my car to help understand what was required. I highly recommend Das Mechanic, and will bring my cars here from now on. I have almost always driven German cars and it can be a challenge to find a shop that will work on them. I will happily continue to buy German cars knowing they are in good hands with Gabor. Gabor is a wonderful mechanic. His expertise and his humor has kept my husbands car alive for over 330,000 miles, Mine is only 100,000 miles old. He is honest, willing to investigate and learn about unique problems and willing to pull the plug when the car has gone too long (he just did that with my husbands and is consulting on the purchase of a different one). I appreciate having this resource.

If you have a European vehicle that is NOT being looked after by Das Mechanic, you are wasting money and likely do not have the best person possible working on your car. The only way I will continue to own European cars is by having them serviced at Das Mechanic, if and when they close shop Im buying a Toyota.

I received very high quality work at fraction of the price that I would have paid at the dealership. Gabor loves what he does and he has a reputation to keep up. Dont expect a coffee lounge like the dealership, but rather expect to experience an expert mechanic in a no frills shop. My beemer runs better than ever!!!

I had a issue with my BMW where a cylinder in the engine was misfiring which had been an unknown cause until Gabor had looked into it. The issue had been with the car for a long time as he had concluded that it had been worked on before that the previous owner had never found the problem. He had gave me a very fair price on the cost as the dealership would have charged me triple! One of the best mechanics ive met.

If you have a German car and dont use Das Mechanic, youre wasting time and money. Knowledgeable, honest mechanic, I trust him implicitly with my vehicles.

My car started to leak coolant after adding coolant at BMW dealership. It was always overfilled whenever I visited there. I suspect they might tried damage my car.So, I looked for trustworthy mechanic around my area. And, I found this place by getting recommendation from Bimmerfest.Gabor looked at my car and he found my radiator was broken and show me how it was leaking. I could see which part was broken and which part he will fix.I was low in my budget, so I asked Gabor to let me bring my parts to lower the cost and he accepted it. So, I could fix my car with very economic price. Around $200 for Gabor and around $160 for parts.I would recommend this place to anybody who has european cars.Trustworthy!

Gabor has provided great service on my 2002 VW Golf TDI. He has corrected problems that other mechanics have not. He is reliable, knowledgeable, and reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone who has a VW.
