Barrus installed my system about 10 years ago. They have provided excellent service and repair along the way. Best investment ever.

From the professionalism that we encountered from our first phone call with the lady that answers the phones to the expertise that we saw when James first came out to check our system, Barrus is definitely a first class establishment. They were very thorough in the process of discovering our AC system issues and Bill Barrus had different options for us to choose from in terms of how to rectify our problems. He spent plenty of time explaining each option to us and helping us to understand what our choice would mean for our final outcome.Our home has required the services of many AC companies in the past but we are thrilled to have finally found a company that we can be with for the long haul and trust to do a great job.

Great price and the AC Tech had no problem teaching me the basics while he worked. He knew his stuff and my system is literally working better than when it was new.

Connor was super professional and open with his diagnosis that we had a blown blower motor in our HVAC system. He made sure to prioritize us and got us up and running in the same day as it was pretty hot in our home. We made sure to sign up for a maintenance plan so that our unit runs smoothly and extends the life of the new motor.

I gotta say Conner (my technician) was excellent yesterday. He was very polite, punctual, and efficient. Definitely someone you feel comfortable inviting into your home. He informed me of each the status of not only the repair but also condition of my entire system. Every company could use more Conners.

Mr. Barrus was hands on through the entire process. Warm personality and very professional, he presented well priced options and even lended us a few window units to ensure my pregnant fiancé was comfortable in the days leading up to the install. During the first heat wave of the the year he and his crew were right on time!

Up until today, I had only good things to say. While Bill and his crew maybe a little more expensive, they do excellent work. Today, I called because I needed help with the ductwork that was installed by Bill and his crew but was told that they no longer service our area, not even for an extra fee. While the issue with the ductwork has nothing to do with the workmanship or any kind of warranty, I was still very disappointed for having been turned away. Considering the business we did with Bill in the past and the money we spent (2 a/c units ~$13k, ductwork and minor repairs ~$2500k), turning us away is simply not acceptable and I am sad to say that we will no longer conduct any business at all with Barrus Heating & Air. However, if you are in their service area, I can highly recommend them, but be careful as you might end up outside their service area as well.EDIT: the driving distance is exactly 37.9 miles and per Google Maps, which is usually very accurate, the drive time is ~1 hour and 3 minutes.

We woke up on a Monday morning with no heat. I called Barrus and they had somebody out to my house within an hour. James was very polite and thorough. He found the problem and was able to fix it quickly and ensured our heat was working again before he left. The cost was much lower than we were expecting. If we have any problems with our heating and air in the future, Barrus Heating & Air will be our first call.

Our AC wasnt maintaining temperature. There was about a 5° difference. The tech said there was a freon leak and it was considerably low. I was told my entire unit needed replacing (which it will in the not so distant future). Called a different company and they said the freon wasnt low enough to mention and certainly wasnt the issue. The heating coils were stuck on and competing with the AC. So essentially I paid this company to come out and lie to me. Im only giving 2 stars because the service tech was nice and it was only $70, which is reasonable if the were to give accurate information. My AC is now fixed and it took less than an hour and $140 with the other company.

After another company came out numerous times and could not fix my hvac Barrus came out and had it running perfectly in about an hour. They were on time, very knowledgeable, and a reasonable price. It usually takes really good service or really poor service to drive me to leave reviews of companies, and in this instance I had an incredible experience. Our A/C unit stopped blowing cold air and the company was able to quickly and professionally respond to our request for a system diagnosis.The lead technician, James, was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and willing to share every minute detail; which I appreciate being an engineer.Our issue turned out to be a capacitor and quick fix. We also had our Freon levels properly adjusted. The pricing for all of these services were clear upfront and very reasonable.While this was only my first experience with Barrus Heating and Air, based on their customer service and professionalism, they have totally secured me as a customer!

Technician was courteous. Problem was fixed for a few hours then started again. Called back around 2:30 pm and was advised no tech could come out that day. Now I have a full hot house with no a/c minus $100. Called the next day with no assurance that I wouldnt be billed another service fee for a tech coming back out so I decided to go with another company. I was advised that the wire that I thought was repaired wasnt. Wire was replaced by another company and a/c runs fine. Thing happen I suppose but I just dont have money to waste and I want people to stand behind there work.

Upon recommendation from a friend with experience in the HVAC business, I called Barrus to check out our system for the summer. From appointment setting and confirmation to the appointment itself, I couldnt have been more pleased. There was no pressure, but an offer to do a twice-yearly check-up was made and I gladly took them up on it. Great folks.

Great company. Our compressor locked up on a Saturday night. I waited until Monday AM to call on a recommendation from my neighbor. (He said, Barrus is the best.) I explained Monday morning to the dispatcher my wife was 8 1/2 months pregnant and we had no AC. They got a tech out that morning, diagnosed a locked compressor, had a quote ready all in the same day. Also it turns out they moved some scheduling around and came out the very Mr day to install the new unit. James was the veteran tech on site. Very professional and knowledgeable. They had the unit installed in no time and running. Eat work, above and beyond for their customer and great follow through on their word. This level of customer service is a dying art and people should know just how much I appreciate what this company did for me and my family! Thank you!!

They are Unwilling to work with a home warranty company. All that is needed is to communicate repairs needed to get payment approval and payment would be immediate. I would understand “if warranty does not pay then you will be fully responsible” but they didn’t even offer that. Service call was flat stopped with “we don’t ...”. I cannot comment on their service as we never got that far.

I have dealt with Barrus 2 separate times. Both times they have been super punctual and always arrive the same day that you call. I found out that I needed to replace my whole unit, so the owner of the company, Bill, came to my house to discuss my options with me. He was very thorough and very informative. He even got a crew to come out on the Saturday before memorial day, instead of having to wait until the following week, due to the high temperatures.I would recommend Barrus to anyone who asks. I was in a jam and needed to get a followup from a home inspection to be able to complete the sale. Time was critical. It was handled quickly and efficiently.

I called at 0900 and the technician was at my home by 1400. They even called and asked if he could come earlier at 1200 but I was at work and had to do 1400. He still got there early, and had it fixed in 15 minutes. Then asked me if he could change my filters for me; no charge to me. The whole experience was just refreshing. The office was so polite and accommodating over the phone, updated via email of my appointment and when the technician was on the way, and then quickly got a bill. No extra charges or surprises. Will definitely be going with them in the future.

This company is one of the most professional and down to earth heating and air conditioning that I ever encountered in my 63 years of life. When the owner came to give estimate he removed his shoes as to not dirty the floor as did his employees did when they arrived to install.His employees were down to earth and answered any questions we asked.The owner took well over an 1 1/2hours during the estimate and was more concerned with our needs than his profit. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.One other thing I would like to say before the install began the employee but down cloth runners to catch any dirt or insulation dust that might fall . When they cleaned up they also picked up anything that might not of fallen on the runners

Amazing experience from beginning to end! Bill (the owner) personally came out to look at my old (broken) AC and assess what would work best for my home. He sat down and explained my options to me and never tried to sell me on the biggest and most expensive ones. He gave me prices and options on the spot. When installing my AC unit, they had seen that my front glass door was hanging off of the hinges at the top, I had to go run an errand and they were gone before I returned home and they had FIXED my front door for me!! Obviously, at no charge and left me a note saying that they had put a few extra screws in it and hoped that it helped. It completely fixed it! Now that is service!! They also sent someone out to my home on a Saturday to help me set up my thermostat to wifi and showed me how to use the special extra features on it. Amazing service at an amazing price!! Recommend these guys 100%!!!

My AC quit working on a humid September day. I called and spoke with the scheduler at Barrus and had an appointment for the next day, on a Saturday morning. Im very pleased with the service and appreciated having cool air again in less than 24 hours. The technician explained everything to me.

Cleaning of whole system went well and reasonably priced

I was happy with the initial service Barrus provided. However, their follow-up service left me extremely disappointed. I came home from work to a cool house, but my garage and outside power outlets no longer worked (they worked when I left). I knew it was no coincidence. I called Barrus to ask them to come look at what could have happend. I was told I needed to contact an electrician, because they didn’t touch my electricity and it wasn’t their problem. I called an electrician and they quickly diagnosed the issue as a GFI outlet that tripped (most likely due to something Barrus plugged into an outlet while they were working). All it would have taken to make a happy lifetime customer is some ownership in their work and a quick look at the problem. Instead I will never recommend or use them again.

With pollen as it is currently this season I had to flip on the A/C early and sadly the unit I had was on its last leg. Barrus came out quickly, assessed the unit and was able to secure everything needed to come out within the next day. Having company in town they made the install their #1 priority, coming out in the early hours on the day of the Bridge Run! Due to the quick turn around and it being over the weekend they werent able to get all parts but they did have the a/c up and running within just a few short hours. The owner himself came back Monday to check on everything and to finish off the job. He made sure that I was satisfied and knew how to work the new system. Ive had Bill and his guys install a couple Mini Splits and do service on some units and he even gave me special deal one-time owner unit always on top of their game and theyre honorable. He knows his stuff about HVAC

We had a great experience with Barrus Heating & Air with the installation of our new system. Bill Barrus was the only HVAC contractor who did a very detailed load test to determine the proper size of the systems we needed. This resulted in us downsizing one system by half a ton, which saved on the cost of the system and will save energy by not having the system short cycle. The new system works great, and it can be controlled by phone app even when were not home. Additional devices (ex. door locks, cameras, security system, etc.) can be added to this system as well. The cost of the systems was also lower than two other American Standard/Trane contractors.

We have been using Barrus Heating and Air LLC for over 5 years now. The first time we called Barrus was on the morning of July 4th with temps expected to be in the upper 90s. They fixed the problem promptly, at a fair price! Since then, we have been using them exclusively--even for a new system. We have always been satisfied with their service!!!

Just had my 10 year old unit replaced by these guys in Poplar Grove Charleston. Excellence in everything they did. Price was better than other quotes we got plus I got higher rated system with some special discounts from their suppliers. The installers were on time, fast & left my house cleaner than when they arrived. Barrus is my HVAC repair from now on! Oh, i also had my son call them on a his down stairs unit that had been giving him trouble (not fixed by another firm). Barrus sent a tech that found a leak in about 15 minutes and got him fixed too!

Wonderful company to work with. Needed a new AC unit and needed it ASAP and they were able to get the work done quicky and at a fair and reasonable price. When you live in a house built in the days when the central HVAC system was a coal stove in the winter and an open window in the summer, it is really important to have an HVAC installer who understands the Engineering behind a properly designed system. On this coldest day of the season, as I walk over a floor vent, my toasty toes remind me of the flawless HVAC system Barrus Heating and Air installed several years ago. I have recommended this company to many friends. Some companies just want to sell you a new system but my friends have told me that Barrus provides economical repairs. For the past 6 years I had a company who wouldcome out to maintain an service my unit. I never had any issueswith my unit in the past. I called an set up an appointment to havemy unit checked as I had done in the past. He arrived on time anwent right to work. After checking the system in my attic he wentto check the outside unit. He came back inside an told me he hadto shut the power off on the outside system because it was badan had to be replaced. Then he was gone. I was sick over what todo. I talked to a friend of mine who told me to call Barrus Heatingand Air in Summerville. I called an spoke to Miesha an told herwhat had happened. She was Amazing, very friendly an professionalan took my concerns very serious. I didnt have to wait weeks forthe next available appointment. My professional technician James,who I highly recommend, showed up on time. He was alreadyaware of my issues. He filled me in on what he was going to doan went to work. After he finished checking the unit in the attic anthe unit outside, we sat down to discuss what he had done.I was expediting the worse case scenario that the unit had to bereplaced an the cost of a new system wasnt going to be cheapan knowing that I was not in a position financially. In todaystime money is really tight for so many people. Had a problem with my furnace, called barrus hvac, the very courteous phone attendant set the appointment out for the same day, the service technician came out identify the problem and fixed it fast, didnt try to oversell me, really liked the service and ill recommend it to everyone I know!
