I went for the bouldering area and although Im trying to find a new gym to switch over too I dont think Id decide to join crg. The route setting isnt bad but its just lack luster to me. top rope and lead is definitely the focal point here but I didnt get a chance to give it a shot.
Excellent rock gym. Very new and clean. I go often, and my 2 sons are members here. The coaches are great, and I love this as an alternative sport to the more traditional sports, which arent for everyone. My kids are part of the Rec Team and always look forward to going. They have definitely become stronger since starting here about a year ago.
Great place, The staff is friendly and fun. Has a Wide variety for different skill levels. Something I should add is that I had no prior experience with climbing. But they got me hooked!
Great gym. Clean and large space.. Lots of opportunities for top rope, lead climbs, auto belays, and boldering. Bouldering routes are pretty challenging. Did not use the other amenities but did see they had a large gym with weights, weight racks, and cardio equipment as well.
Such a cool place! We went for the first time and Jim really went out of his way to teach us, help us with everything, and stayed with us most of the time. He was so knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. The facility is very clean, spaced out, and safe. Thanks again!
This is a grea and, relatively new gym. Routes are updated regularly and there is a good variety, even though the gym is not huge. Plenty of bouldering, top roping, and lead routes with a variety of settings. Staff and members are laid back, friendly, and helpful. Be careful of the walls though - they are roughly textured and you will lose some skin to them if you are not careful.
Its horrible. Stay home. Get fat. Stay safe.
Friendly staff and very good about covid guidelines. Would recommend this place to friends
Amazing. They made me use a different belay technique than EMS taught me, but it makes sense and it’s easy. I guess their insurance co. requires it. Lots of great climbs here, all different difficulties, and lead climbs too. The bouldering overhang section is pretty cool too.
The instructors are great with kids. Kid 1 is really enjoying all the options here. They seem to do a very thoughtful job setting up routes. I think the bouldering wall looks different every time I come (but I guess they are new so still setting up?). My other son doesn’t like to climb so just boulders a bit. I was really impressed with the facilities. Even the bathroom seems really well thought out.
Great gym, but there are some grumpy staff members.
Great facilities. Nice, well equipped fitness center. Pretty frequent turnover for the routes. Lots of membership benefits and events including discounted equipment rental/purchase. Not quite as extensive as some of their other locations but still great.
This place is awesome. I was apprehensive getting back into climbing after 12 years and had never really been climbing at a gym. I went to Randolph first and loved it (facility, service, staff, community) and then signed up for a membership in Stoneham. The Stoneham facility is incredible and I get the same good vibes. Its incredible to be able to visit any of their facilities as well (most in area I believe). Overall, literally nothing bad to say...just a great company/facility.
Gorgeous facility, equipment is new and well nourished. The staff holds a perfect balance between providing personal space and assistance, leaving you with an unforgettable experience. They have plenty of options for all types of people, from the experts to beginners, members and non-members, and everything in between. Offers a quality, lengthy workout as well as a spacey, social atmosphere. I recommend this gem to anyone seeking a good time.
Beautiful, new facility, however the route setting is kind of rough. Grades seem accurate I guess, but the style doesn’t vary much. It is also really expensive. Those are the reasons I’m rating it 3/5 stars. I’d rather go to a cheap gym with better setting
Great routes, and they change a part of the wall weekly so there’s always something new to do. I love how personable the staff are, and how I can just spend half my time at the gym just talking about cool climbs with them. Everyone is super friendly, and eager to work out routes together.
Not too crowded at 10AM. Nice and cool
Been climbing here since it opened and I love it! The facility is new as of January 2019 and it’s great. The staff is extremely friendly, the amenities offered are nice, and the whole atmosphere is awesome. I reccomend this to all my friends and tell everyone I know about it. I plan on being a member here for a long time.
Everything a climbing gym should be and nothing more. Clean, fun music, cool routes, and a well equipped gym. Wasnt that crowded on a rainy Sunday, which was great for me. Will definitely be returning.
Great routes, great terrain, great staff.
Everything I can ask for is in this gym. It has a great weight room, cardio machines, bouldering, top roping, lead climbing, yoga classes and more.Im especially grateful for the technique classes that have helped me take my climbing to the next level and prevent injuries.Keep up the good work guys!
Perfect gym off the highway for my ride in/out of work. They have showers, locker room, full gym and free weights. Of course, the bouldering and rope climbing is well maintained. They vary the routes in sections weekly so there are always new projects!
Awesome gym! Ive been climbing here since they opened, and joined the adult team, which has been a great experience. Facilities are always clean, theres an exercise room with plenty of equipment,a yoga room, and plenty of lockers and cubbies for gear. My favorite place to workout and hang out with friends!
Ive been climbing for about 6-7 years and climbed at most of the gyms in the Boston Area. This is one of the better ones in my opinion; they cater to the whole gamut of climbers. They have very kid friendly routes, and a super friendly staff that will help outfit the new climber. For the intermediate climber, they have a wide array of climbing grades, with really creative route-setting. Their dedicated bouldering area upstairs is top notch with a wide variety of angles. If you are getting into lead climbing almost all their routes have quick-draws on them, so you can warm up on something easy before getting on the hard overhung stuff. Their workout area has everything you might need to get swole, and they have a yoga studio as well. The community there is still pretty small as its a relatively new gym, but its super tight; every time I go there I know at least 4-5 people even if I dont go with my climbing partner. The only thing you might find a little disappointing about this gym if youre an advanced climber is they dont have a systems board or a moon board. Luckily, as a CRG member you have access to other gyms in the area that do, if thats something you absolutely must have. Even so, you cant really go wrong with this gym. If I could give more stars, I would.
New clean rock gym. Older, calmer clientele than CRs other gyms. Well set, fun routes. Limited classes and parking.
Wonderful addition for the Central Rock Gym family with tons of top roping and lead climbing. Bouldering area upstairs is filled with fun and puzzling routes, and the walls in the gym are covered in all variety of routes, suiting everyone from the newest climbers to the most seasoned veterans.
Relaxed atmosphere is perfect for learning or improving climbing skills.
Awesome place to go exercise! There are bouldering walls, top - rope walls (auto belayers too!), and also has a small gym to work out in. The employees are very friendly and the locker rooms are clean. The membership is a little pricey, but there are deals that are available. You can also take courses if you wish to get certified in certain areas (such as a belaying certification). The routes are all varying difficulties, theres even a starter bouldering wall available! Chalk is also provided for bouldering. If you dont have gear, you can also rent gear ( free for a certain period of time after your subscription starts!).
CRG Stoneham is a great place to be. I love climbing here. Great route setting with new routes regularly. Fun, friendly, knowledgable staff. A great community to join!
Great bouldering wall for all levels. Fitness facility is good for all types of workouts.
Brand spankin new facility. Bouldering is a smaller area upstairs that offers a variety of angles and styles. Sport and top rope downstairs has pumpy heights and a good variety of angles.Parking can be very tight during busy hours, which mean you just end up parking further away on the main road to the industrial complex.
Great climbing atmosphere, regularly reset routes, engaging staff and friendly groups of climbers.
The community chalk at this gym is everything! Very clean and Organized establishment.
Best climbing gym in the Northeast. Setters are great, place is clean, walls are tall. What more can you ask for?
This is a BEAUTIFUL gym, absolutely top notch facility and I would recommend it to anyone. Friends and I have started going here instead of BKB Somerville because the commute is easier, the parking is easier, and this place attracts a good crowd - but, 4 stars because this place doesn’t open until 10am, leaving BKB the only place to climb in the AM before work.
New gym with bouldering routes changing weekly. Friendly staff, clean space with nice locker rooms.
Simply dope
Great fitness centre ! rock climbing.
Da gratest!
