My Syrian hamster grew a sudden cyst and was unable to eat, drink, and exercise. It was roughly 1/3 the size of his body...hes young and even though hes a hamster, I wanted to make sure he wasnt in pain. They fit me in the same day and performed minor surgery to remove the impacted material and stitched him back up. They walked me through the whole process and demonstrated post op care. They saved my hamster and my sanity, never making me feel silly for bringing a rodent to the vet. I literally could not recommend this hospital more

Hands down Kocher is the best vet. She has tons of experience and also constantly cites newest research. Shes aware of new treatments, trends and options (example - injections for dogs joints). I heard of her from other locals whove had dogs for 15 years when I moved here and am happy I picked her then. The office never forced or suggested extra tests as some vets would to make more $. Her surgical skills are superb - shes done hip surgery on a friends dog and growth removals on mine. And they do everything for the dog. Example: 2 vet techs and the DVM were crawling on the floor to remove sutures from my dogs paw to avoid unnecessarily sedating him.

Only vet out of 4 that would give an estimate on cost. Cheerful knowledgeable staff that went out of their way to help with my daughters best companion ( a little chorkie named Ollie). Would recommend.

All 3 of our cats lived long and prospered under Dr. Kochers care. She takes the time to talk to you in detail and we trust her opinions. Were currently without a pet gor the first time in 25 years. When we get a new critter or two, well definitely be back.

We have been with State College Vet Hospital for 10 years. I had not met Dr. Tagg until recently when we had to have a beloved pet put to sleep. Dr. Tagg and her assistant Jessie were so very kind and thoughtful. They made such a tough time easier. I would highly recommend State College Veterinary Hospital. They always treat you and your pet like family.

Phenomenal service, very reasonable prices, convenient hours and even the option of boarding. My animals and I have had many positive experiences with both Dr. Kocher and Dr. Guffey. Their staff are excellent too! They are thorough, take the time to explain all the details, follow up promptly, and genuinely care about their clients. My family and I are very pleased with SCVH and feel blessed to have stumbled upon this gem. I trust them 100% and would highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you, SCVH, for all that you do!!!

SCVH was my vet for 14 years from the time we got our dogs to their final day. They are very knowledgeable and more importantly make the furry patient and the owner feel at ease. The staff is also great. When we moved I drove my dogs to the scvh because of the staff and the care they provide. Yes, the wait has sometimes been long but thats because they are willing to take the time needed for their patients and owners. I would definitely recommend SCVH for anyone looking to add a pet to their family or who is dissatisfied with their current vet.

I am so glad that I brought my stray kitten here. When I first found my kitten, Saroo, I took him to Metzgers animal hospital. At Metzgers, they spent very little time with him (initial examination was no longer than 5-10 minutes for a kitten who has very sick!), didnt inform me of certain things to look out for in a kitten, and I was slapped with an outrageous bill.At the State College Veterinary Hospital, I was amazed when they walked me through the initial examination step by step. They always gently handle Saroo, give great advice, spend an extensive amount of time during examinations, and have in depth answers to any of my questions. The prices are great and the doctors really care about the animals that come in. Ive had both doctors look at Saroo and I always leave feeling like I made a great decision. Last time I was here, the doctor gave me a coupon for flea medicine and spent 40 minutes with me to discuss Saroos health/give him an exam. Love love love this place!

I couldnt be more grateful. This was the second veterinarian that I went to with my parakeet when she began to have trouble with her right leg. C. P. Vets was able to stabilize her in an emergency when het breathing became labored from the stress of her injury, but they dont have an avian vet, so they made a very common mistake in her diagnosis. I dont hold it against them, and they got her through one especially bad night with the resources available there, but taking her to Dr. Scholz at State College Veterinary Hospital from there was an answered prayer. Shes so kind and respectful, incredibly gentle with my delicate little bird, and astoundingly knowledgeable. Before even performing x-rays, Dr. Scholz theorized that my birds evident foot problem was probably a kidney tumor compressing her sciatic nerve. The films showed the same. She offered medicine that was helpful for her pain, great advice and wisdom, answers to my many questions, empathy, and the peace of mind of knowing what was wrong and knowing Id done all I could to care well for my budgie. After a few weeks, the tumor predictably grew and exacerbated my birds condition. Today it was finally time to have her euthanized. Dr. Scholz was very gentle and compassionate while also providing such careful explanation of the entire process. It was, of course, very sad and difficult. I was deeply attached, and the staff were all very understanding. I was allowed to stay with her through the process, and they helped me to cast an imprint of her foot in air drying clay after it was done as a keepsake. A brief autopsy afterward, which was done with my approval, proved that the tumor was indeed what we suspected and was very large and destined to cause more suffering if I hag held pin longer. It was such a gift to have the knowledge to make exactly the best and most informed decision I could, and the kindness shown by all the staff was exceptional. This office can absolutely expect my continued business for my remaining parakeet and any future pets, as well as my recommendation to anyone looking for a vet, especially for a bird.
