When our dog Buzz had some issues for two days pertaining to a dangerous low blood glucose level, the staff here were able to get him on the road to recovery as a head start. Given the nature of this animal hospital, they choose to prioritize some cases over others, which makes sense. They took our dog right away and began treatments and tests. If I had anything negative to say, it boils down to a few main points. The wait times were a bit long, which is tolerable given the nature of the business, the hours are a bit strange; we had to either pick up our dog and transport him somewhere else due to CPVets closing at 7:30 am, or as we ended up doing, taking him to Metzgers at 9 PM that same day. The Covid measures too are a bit off-putting as you must wait in your car and wear a mask during communication as staff run in and out of the building. I get its in the name of safety, but if Metzgers allows people to enter, even without a mask, then I wouldnt see harm in CPVets allowing to do the same, but its their choice to enforce this sort of policy. Due to his limited time here, the bulk of his treatments came from Metzgers who discovered other various issues. In any case, I still appreciate CPVets for being here and able to tend to Buzz for the 3 hours he was in their care. They were able to get him on the road to recovery and facilitate the transfer to Metzgers for us. After 6 days, hes back to a stable condition as we closely monitor his health going forward.
Told that my gecko would be fine and was hopeful he would live the rest of his 14 years. Contacted them about his conditions the night before and told he was okay. He passed away the next day. Waste of an exam for him to not actually be okay.
We are visiting from out of town/state. Our dog developed a cough late last night. We called this morning and were strongly encouraged to bring him in for an evaluation.1) We filled out the forms online and were seen faster than people who waiting in the parking lot who had not done so.2) The staff was friendly, sympathetic, and accommodating.3) We spoke directly with the doctor after he had examined her dog and agreed on a course of treatment which we began to implement right away.4) While he is still coughing some, the medicine appears to be helping. The treatment for dehydration has been clearly effective as he has more energy and he’s more himself.Bottom line: When you are away from home, and have to drive an hour and a half or more to get medical care for a loved pet, you have high expectations. Ours were met, and exceeded. On behalf of the canine and his human parents, we thank you.
I just called there this evening Sept. 28 to have my doxie looked at they wanted $135.00 up front before they would even look at her. She has all the symptoms is acute pancraitas spell ck. I hope she lives untill my vet opens..
Wonderful place. Had an emergency with our bunny on a Sunday morning, this was the closest place (2 hours away) that would take him. Although they were very busy they still got him in as fast as they could, and worked with us on a price that worked for us while still having our bunny taken care of properly. They were very kind & professional, definitely recommend if your pet needs emergency care.
I brought my rat to be treated here and the staff was so kind and lovely! They updated us while waiting in the car and the staff we spoke to were compassionate and understanding. They saved my rats life and I am so grateful for their service. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and they gave her the best care even though she was a smaller animal. She is doing so much better since seeing them.
We have been here twice now unfortunately. The first time my dog had a bad allergenic reaction. They got him the treatment we needed and we’re on our way home in a few hours. This past Monday we weren’t as lucky. Although the situation was difficult they were very open about the options we had. And would do whatever we felt was necessary. Gave us the time we needed and were supper great with the whole situation.
A trip to the emergency vet is never a good time, but I’m really happy with the care we got from start to finish. The phone receptionist was really helpful, and up-front about costs from the beginning. I haven’t taken a pet to the vet since COVID, and I was nervous about just dropping him off. This clinic has a really good, organized system for check-in and patient history. They worked very quickly and kept in contact with me over the phone so I knew what was going on. They made it clear that they really cared about my cat and wanted to do everything they could to make him feel better. They were able to balance efficiency and organization with a gentle touch and a great “bedside” manner. I was even pleasantly surprised with the bill. Vet care is always pricey, but in this case my cat’s care was much less than I feared. Obviously I hope we never have another pet emergency, but if we do it will make it easier knowing this trustworthy practice is there for us.
I personally am not happy with this place at all. I had called them to tell them my cat needed to be seen today because she couldn’t eat or drink anything without getting sick. she is very dehydrated and was throwing up and going to the bathroom constantly. Long story short we got there and waited for 3 hours for my pore kitten which isn’t even a year old yet to be taken in which never happened!! This is supposed to be an animal hospital, where they take care of our pets, and just the fact that after I called them to ask how much longer the wait was going to be, they couldn’t even tell me whatsoever. Believe me I know things are hard for a lot of businesses out there because of the pandemic we are currently facing but that is no excuse for what happened to me and my kitten tonight, it’s just something that has me so furious and I definitely won’t be coming back here in the near future!!
We came in to Penn State from Ohio to give a rescue kitten to her new family. Unfortunately she started having issues at the hotel, and thank God we were able to bring her here that night. The staff and vets were very diligent about getting her medical history. They were able to identify pretty quickly that she was having an allergic reaction and also had a skin infection. The vet came out to the car (Covid protocol) and explained everything and made sure we were okay with the course of action. They kept her for the night so we could sleep, and we were able to take her home on meds the next day. About a week later, the same vet who took care of her called me to discuss how she was doing, and go over her biopsy results. They really seem to care - thank God they were right there. We followed the plan, and shes doing great now!
The vet we regularly take our animals to was unavailable to perform a csection on my dog. Because it was the middle of the night an emergency center was our best option and my girl received amazing care here! The staff was so incredibly friendly, talked through all of our options with me, and kept me updated every step of the way. In previous experience many emergency vets are most concerned about how you are paying for your visit, but I did not get this impression at all from CPVETS. I truly felt like my dogs well being and her puppies well being was their top priority! Thank you for your help and wonderful care of my girl and her 3 perfect puppies!
Horrible place. Idk how those people sleep at night. My dad and I brought our dog in while she was dying and gasping for air. After she died they wanted him to leave me there as collateral while he ran to the bank to get the rest of their money. They could care less about your animal, its all about the money to them. $500 for less than 30 minutes of their time.
They refused life saving treatment of my nieces dog causing the dog to die. They were extremely rude and all they cared about was the money. I don’t understand why work with animals if you don’t actually care
We had to bring our furry little big boy up here tonight. The staff was soo kind to us. They set our mind at ease soon as we talked to the Doctor. I will bring my furry babies here again for all emergencies.
Like most of the other 1-star reviews, our check - in experience was less than great. We needed to bring our dog here for one overnight stay after an emergency surgery at our primary vet. This was during COVID, so I understand staying in a vehicle, but the lack of compassion at check in when were worried about a pet and all the upfront estimations of costs and the DNR clause were extremely overwhelming. That being said, this is one of very few after-hours and emergency pet vet clinics in the area, there were several cars/pets/owners in the parking lot and we could hear chaos over the phone inside the clinic when talking to inside reception/techs at check in. I suspect our Friday night at 7pm check in was prime time for emergencies in the area.I called around 11pm to check on our dog and the overnight receptionist and techs were helpful answering how our dog was doing and took the time to check our dogs chart and update us on progress and medication. They called us right at the 12-hr mark and let us know how he was doing, asked us to come by sometime that morning for him, but did not rush us in and were helpful answering questions.Pickup was also okay. The overcharged us for the estimation of costs and were helpful and accommodating with squaring up the bill. We also have pet insurance and they were helpful and accommodating with making sure we had the appropriate invoice to submit for insurance and I believe they may have had to email or fax something themselves to our insurance on our behalf.
Excellent service! I give credit to all the veterinarians and staff at CPVETS. They can be busy at times, but always give you and your pet the special care that is needed. My regular vet is in the process of moving clinics, so CPVETS have been a huge help for the past week! Thank you for everything you do! It’s always nice to have an emergency clinic you can trust when your regular vet is out for a couple of weeks. I also LOVE how Dr. Tartaglino was able to get in contact with my regular vet to discuss treatment and medication options. Dr. Tartaglino is an outstanding DVM!! Thank you!! I definitely recommend this clinic!!
Fortunately my pets injury was not life threatening, but needed attention. They begin services without consultation. Overbilled for surgery time when the time was documented on the invoice, And billed for multiple medications that were the same. Because my animals injuries weren’t life-threatening I had the wherewithal to look at the bill and one question to staff they cannot provide any answers but made me pay all of the charges. Very unprofessional and clearly out for the money.
Horrible place. Greedy and care more about money then saving an animals life.
Had to have my baby put down late at night. The staff was so sensitive, passionate, understanding and comforting. And they didnt drain my wallet.
DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE! They only care about making a profit not thoroughly treating your pet. Overcharging and treating clients disrespectfully. Should be shut down
Shouldnt be so costly.
We lost our beloved Daisy yesterday who we lovingly had for 11 long years, Daisy became a tripod 2 years ago due to cancer and having her as long as we did afterwards meant the world to us. Dr. Kerstetter was the most kind and gentle person as we stayed by Daisy’s side till the very end. Daisy was not only our dog but also our child and very best friend. We will forever miss her.
If you want your animal to live I suggest going to a different vet. They spring prices and procedures on you out of no where and when you call to complain they ignore and hang up on you. Horrible people. Horrible service and worst of all they refuse sick animals. If you care about you pet like family go somewhere else or youll regret it
This place is rude and unkind. Greedy unprofessional place.
Both the vet and techs came out to talk to us each morning to give details about how our dogs night was - the staff was extremely kind and knowledgable. We felt very comfortable leaving our puppy in their care and would highly recommend them to anyone needing emergency care or night monitoring.
Rude, disrespectful, very unprofessional. Refusing service because of financial income.
I paid $3,996.74 for a misdiagnosis of a dog that I rescued as a stray less than a week before (which we now adopted). My 5 year old dog was admitted on Saturday 11/23/19. She had bloody diarrhea and wasnt eating or drinking. The vet told me she tested positive for parvo (after they did xrays, ultrasounds, blood test, etc). They werent even going to test her for Parvo until I asked if it was a possibility at her age.Paige was admitted for 4 days and was treated for Parvo, but made very little change in health. CPVets made a huge deal saying her treatment needed to be continued and she needed to be transferred because they were closing. On Tuesday 11/26/19, I picked her up and took her home because they were trying to transfer her to some random place to continue treatment she didnt need. The only thing my dog needed was an IV due to her being severely dehydrated. When I picked her up, she was in worse shape than when I first took her in. The vet claimed she perked up during their care but yet she could barely walk to the car.I took her to my primary vet (All Pets Vet Clinic) where he analyzed the test results in the transfer papers. He said the results for the parvo test were incorrect. He diagnosed Paige with a severe abdominal infection and gave her 1 medication, an IV, and a dewormer. 30 minutes later, my dog was back to normal.I requested a fecal exam during Paiges care at CPVets that was never preformed or else they would have known what was actually wrong. I tried calling and explaining but CPVets claimed that Paige needed the continued treatment, yet my dog recovered fully from treatment at All Pets within 30 mins and was sent home with a clean bill of health.Save your time and money - try to wait until your primary vet opens so you know youre taking your dog to a vet that cares about their health rather than a paycheck.
The most compassionate, kindest team. Everyone involved explained everything to us thoroughly and in a way we could understand, and was there to support us through the whole process. You can tell that they are animal lovers and that they understand what each client is going through with their pets. They took good care of us and our kitty. Everything was very affordable too. Thank you CPVets.Edited 3/19/2021 to add: We took our other cat to CPVets for something less serious, and the team was once again amazing. Everything was explained thoroughly to us, and they treated our kitty with love and care. Thank you again, CPVets, for amazing service!
5.5 hrs for an x-ray of my dogs leg the wait at the hospital emergency room isnt this bad
I took my 13 yr old Jack Russell terrier here. She was puking all day, hiding, not eating, bloody diarrhea and plain bad shape. The staff was very nice, informative, educated and helped my fur baby. She is fully recovered and I couldnt thank them enough. It was expensive but worth every penny. My only complaint would be they said they would send me emails of updates and pics of my fur baby and they didnt. It made me worry she wasnt well and that was the reason. It wasnt the reason they were just busy but I wish they wouldnt have told me they were going to if they couldnt. Love this place and would recommend!
Wonderful, caring staff. Thank you for caring for Dinkle as if he were your own pet. The card and paw print was so thoughtful.
Im sorry for the last review I left. It was rude and unnecessary. I apologize. I felt like we were just pushed to the back. No communication. Now I do realize youre a smaller operation and with this pandemic things arent going to be normal. I just would have liked a little heads up. Again I do apologize for bringing it to this review!
I had to bring my 19-year-old cat, Lottie, into CP Vets late the other night. She has been in pretty good health despite her age, so I was really concerned that she suddenly seemed sick and kinda out of it. Ive had this cat for 18 of those 19 years, so I was sobbing like a fool when I brought her in. All of the staff were extremely kind and gentle. There were at least two other patients in there before us and someone still came to check on Lottie immediately to make sure she was stable enough to wait with me. The technician that brought us into the room and took vitals/info was kind and thorough. Dr. Loar was excellent and it did not take her long to find a tumor in her stomach as well as deduce that she had eaten a bunch of cat litter in an attempt to ease the pain and nausea she was having. Dr. Loar gave me a few options, but gently told me that she was probably near the end of her life. She respected my decision to take Lottie home - I wanted to spend time with her (I had been away from home that day), I wanted to wait for my partner to get home from out of town the next day, and I wanted to be able to take her into her regular vet. So, they gave her IV fluids and meds for the pain and nausea before we left. She rested peacefully through the night and we said goodbye the following day at our regular vet.I want to address finances because I have seen so many negative reviews about pricing. I paid $450 for the visit, x-rays, an x-ray consult, an ultrasound, IV fluids, and two injections of pain and nausea medications. As a member of the struggling middle class, I feel that this is completely reasonable. Emergency services will always cost more and they should. These people are working odd hours for our convenience. They probably have to deal with emotionally exhausting situations all of the time. I really felt like the whole staff cared about me and my kitty and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.Rest in peace, sweet Lottie.
They are very nice. Had my dog there for an emergency. My dog had pups and there were 2 left inside her dead. They did a good job.
I had to bring my senior 16 year old Carin Terrier here to do what no one ever wants to do with their fur babies. Our regular vet was closed. Of course, I was hesitant to take him there because he hates the vet (even the one he had been doing to since he was 4 years old) but I didn’t have a choice. He was suffering and I couldn’t let that continue until our vet opened on Monday. I called to let them know we were on our way. It took us a half an hour from home to their office and when I walked in, they knew who we were and came and caught us right away. No waiting. The decision we had to make is the hardest thing any pet lover could have to do. But they were kind and compassionate every step of the way. They explained the entire process from start to finish and put me at ease that the transition would be a peaceful one for our baby boy. They gave us much time as we needed with him before and after he went to sleep. While it was the most excruciating process for my husband and I, they made it a little easier but by showing us and our baby extreme kindness. I got lots of hugs and support the whole way through and I will be forever grateful that they showed us so much concern and empathy as we did the most difficult thing of our lives. Thank you to all the vet techs and vets that helped us yesterday! You have a truly thankless job but there are people who appreciate you!
Brought my 10 month old shepherd mix to this hospital. Drove an hour to get here. She tested positive for parvo and they wouldnt even take her in to start treatment without a down payment of almost $1,800!!! So because i cant pay that at this very second i just let her die then? Real nice.
Wow! Great and fast service. The doctor was so kind and helpful and listened to my concerns without making me feel like I was overreacting. She explained everything she wanted to do and why she would not do other procedures. I felt like she truly cared for my pup and was not just looking to over charge!! Thanks so much for making this scary time a little less stressful and reassuring me I was a good dog mom.
Incredibly grateful to the staff here for taking care of my cat today. He is home now recovering. Its good to have a place to take your pet for an emergency. The vet was very friendly and informative. The office was busy and I could see they were juggling emergencies. Despite this they kept a great attitude and were kind and helpful to everyone who came in the door. If your pet has an emergency I would recommend you take them to CPVets.
Our little guy was not doing good. CP Vets were there when our vet couldnt be and helped him turn around. Thank you to all of you
Brought in my dog for an emergency. The vet was knowledgeable and explained the problem thoroughly. Sadly my boy didnt make it, but the staff was sweet and sent me a sympathy card.Service was rapid, the price was reasonable, they offered a payment plan, and they didnt ask for payment until the emergency was over.
I found a very ill stray kitten and rushed it to CP vet. They were very quick and pleasant. Unfortunately the stray was in bad enough condition that euthanasia was the best option. Dr. Loar called me and said because he was a stray she would do the euthanasia and cremation at no cost. She thanked me for bringing him in. It was so nice to see someone who cared more about the animal than the money. I appreciated the true compassion they showed!
Made it in at 9pm on a Saturday night with our 3 month old cat who hurt her paw. We didn’t wait too long before getting her examined by a vet tech and it took about 10 minutes or less after that for the doctor to come in. They were kind and thorough in checking what was wrong and truly seemed to care about each patient! Definitely recommend. It ended up being $105 (I think) for the consultation, $165 for the x-ray, and $25 for the pain meds (~350 total). But totally worth it to make sure she was okay and to have had such a kind staff!
I have had to use the services of this business twice and was 110 % pleased with the results. I had two cats (at separate times, different yrs.) that were euthanized (put to sleep) there. The staff Ive encountered there have always been exceptional. Now, given, thats been MY experience and mine alone. But to those complainers out there, some tips: DONT HAVE AN ANIMAL IF YOU CANT AFFORD ITS MEDICAL CARE!!! I believe most responsible pet owners and all veterinarians would agree with me. Give the animal to a more caring and responsible person. Others of you dont seem to ask enough questions or listen fully to the answers you get. I suspect sometimes this is a language issue. But most often, I think it is just people feeling bad and angry that their pet passed away and they hate themselves for not being a good pet mom or dad, so they lash out at the one person who wants to try and help them -- the vet.
Misdiagnosed my dog’s injury. She could have gone blind if we hadn’t taken her elsewhere a few days later. Now she is better thanks to a simple treatment from another veterinarian. Not only did Central PA Vet misdiagnose but they also charged more than 4x the cost of the Vet that actually successfully treated my pup.I won’t go back.
Yesterday started out as an ordinary day, but ended in devastion as we had to say goodbye to our beloved Zeus. Thank you so much for your professionalism and compassion!! I would highly recommend your facility and if I ever need an emergency vet again I will be coming to your hospital.
Very kind and helpful
The staff at CPV is outstanding and very caring. I took my little buddy Kiki to them on July 13th unfortunately she was sicker than i thought so i had to make a very tough decision and have her put to sleep. They let me in the building to spend time with her and i was so happy to spend that time with her before she took that big cat nap .Now i miss my little buddy so much but i know she isnt suffering anymore.
We had to take our 14 yr old cat in on a weekend as she was not doing well. Much like when I go to the ER there is no good news that comes from the staff. The good news is that they are there for you and were able to provide more information quickly than the local vet ever did. We got some answers but not the ones that we wanted. The staff was very helpful and informative right down to the end. The service is not free, but we felt it was fairly valued and did I say they were there for you when you need them.
They clearly want to make a HUGE profit, and they don’t care about serving animals. My dog attacked a porcupine, and they charged $565 AND didn’t even get all of quills. It’s been five days and my dogs paw is very swollen, and they refuse to see him unless I pay another $50 JUST for the visit (excluding any additional care). And it’s Sunday, so I can’t go to my regular vet. What kind of vet does not honor their services and offer additional care if they do not properly treat them the first time?I called one hour before we arrived, because we were hiking 30 miles away, and we still waited one hour in the parking lot. When I called to explain that he was frantically pawing at his face, they HUNG UP without saying anything. I was absolutely shocked, but was nice because I wanted them to treat my dog well. When I called today to ask if they would see him again, the receptionist was SOOO sassy and kept saying, “mhmmm yaaaaa” while I was talking. When I said that the vet missed SO many quills that were very visible to me, she said, “well that vet is the owner,” as if this status excused the fact that they did not thoroughly check his paws and coat. I am appalled that they take advantage of pets and their owners when they are desperately seeking care when other vet’s offices are not open. They also would not prescribe any pain medication, so expect to spend additional money buying your own.
I recently had to put one of my pet bunnies down. I didnt have an established vet for her so we went to CP Vets. It was a heart breaking experience of course, but CP Vets made the whole experience as good as it could be. Because of covid-19, we werent allowed in the building but somehow they made the experience a positive one. They were kind and sensative at the door, they sent a condolence card, and the whole memorial package was very touching. Every step of the way, they spoke kindly to us and just all around were very kind at such a hard time. It wasnt my first pet emergency with CP Vets, we had to take my cat there for something small. Its always stressful when you have to go to emergency care and they seem to understand that and handle things wonderfully personally and professionally.
Poor experience will never go to them again
They were compassionate and understanding during a time of great sadness.
Awesome service! Wonderful people.
This place is great. We had a late night emergency with our bunny and our vet was closed. So we decided to take him here. They diagnosed him quickly and were extremely thorough with asking every detail that led up to his issue. The vet there was knowledgeable in rabbit care and explained everything to us well. He showed us the x-rays and further explained the problem. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who has an emergency with their pet. The fee is fair for emergency services and the other fees for medications and procedures are also fair. Thank you for your services!
Had a emergency at 2:30am. Was wonderful with my 10 1/2 year old chinchilla. Very informative, gave her medication and my family a piece of mind. Shes doing great, I cant thank you guys enough.
I had a 14 yr old Brussels Griffon that became severely ill on Easter Sunday. My regular vet was closed so I got an emergency appointment here. Following all of the recommended tests, my little girl was diagnosed with IMHA. After discussing things in depth with the medical staff there, we agreed that it would be best if we ended her suffering. If you dont know what IMHA is, I can tell you that it is about the worst disease your dog can develop. The staff was very compassionate and allowed me all of the time I needed to say goodbye before they put her to sleep. After the procedure, they allowed me more time with her as it was the most painful decision I have ever had to make and it showed. This is a first-class facility, and while I hope I dont see them again anytime soon under similar circumstances- I would not hesitate to return should the need ever arise.
Recently my older cat had a health emergency on a Sunday, of course. I took her here after using another emergency vet which was very expensive for my dog. I was happy I made that choice. The vets here came to me before running tests to say they had found evidence of cancer and wanted to know if they should do the further testing. They helped me make a choice which ultimately was to end her suffering. Then I recieved the nicest hand written card in the mail with her foot print for me to keep. They go above and beyond to treat your pets like theirs. Very compassionate and overall a great vet.
Its great to know theyre there when you need them. If you find yourself here, Youve had a bad night or weekend and cant get into your vet. They have served us on holidays and late nights on the weekend when we needed them most. We lost a pet when we couldnt get into our normal vet, and they said definitely come in and they were very comforting and great in a hard time. Another time we had an emergency and they took our dog at 11 on a Friday night and after they did everything they could, they consulted with us and handled everything for final arrangements. They provided a paw print mold as a nice remembrance. They are staffed by local vets as well. A great local service.
I was extremely grateful that we were able to get out baby in to them so quickly. They were extremely compassionate and treated our baby with love. I will say that they are a business and like all businesses they need paid. How do you put a price on the needs of you babies, shame on you. Thank you CPVETS. I have recommended you to several other pet owners. I have my own vets but if I am ever of need of you I will be back.
So I had to put my dog mya down and everyone was very kind and helpful especially the vet definitely recommend this place
Taking your pet to any emergency hospital is expensive. We ended up paying 1400.00 (which we we had to borrow because it was so unexpected and THEY HAD TO HAVE 900.00 down) for our furbaby who was there 4 hrs and didnt make it :( I was curious as to what we paid for and they told me I was charged $262.00 to have our boy cremated JUST so we can keep the ashes!!! Id pay anything to save our boy, but they took advantage of my husband when they FAILED to tell him any costs too this :( We loved our dog and of course we wanted his remains, but they charge 3x as much as the SPCA and dont even tell you the cost up front especially with everyone out of work due to this virus (and asking was the last thing on my husbands mind at such a difficult time...shame on them!!! ). We will NOT be going back to a place that would take advantage of someone like that!!
Although CPVETs are not my normal office to take my three cats; my Lynx needed an emergency appointment on 8-17-19. They explained everything which helped me decide what was best for my fur baby. They were very sympathetic and sent me a beautiful card consoling me. My other male cat, Skye, had the same kidney disease and I had to put him down also, a couple days before 8-15-19. So, thank you to everyone at CPVETS and my long-time Vet for all you have done. My other fur baby, Bengal is having some trouble accepting the huge change. But she is a strong girl (all my pets have been rescues) and I am so thankful to have her. God Bless!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone they are excellent and so caring!! ❤️
I was not very satisfied with their “work” when they discovered our 2 year old puppy had kidney failure so they admitted her for the night. That was over $500. Then they say she needs a blood transfusion, so they were supposed to do that but they said since her levels aren’t going up to give her one. We asked what was wrong and what we can do.. we’ll pay anything to get her better but all they said was that they can’t determine what was wrong. So they told us to either take her home and let her suffer or have them put her down! They sent her home with no medicine. She has nothing. They don’t care about the animals, they care about the money and it’s sick. Take your money somewhere else people! This place is a joke.
They killed my pet. He was a three year chinchilla with a minor respiratory infection so we called this veterinarian to get treatment for the little guy. They took him in and made us wait in a room for 2 hours while they had a pizza break at 11 o’clock at night. And they said that they would “get him the proper medicine to get him better” well they didnt have any medicine left so the lady, who told us that they didn’t have the proper medicine, had mixed up some crack batch of medicine. We got home at 2 in the morning and we gave it to him that morning and about 30 minutes later he passed away. He was only three years old with a minor respiratory infection and their supposed to live for 15 years. Don’t go to this Veterinarian!
Staff is nice but very slow. Its an emergency place...I get that but I waited over 4 hours just to find out my pet had a uti
I took my cat there a few years ago, she was very lethargic & I knew it was her time to go. They made the process so easy & they were so kind and compassionate. They sent me a sympathy card with her paw print inside a few days later. I thought that was amazing.
The traveling vet associated with this establishment is horrible! She does not know listen to the owner, she does not give correct advice. She treated my animal for elevated pancreas enzymes then hospitalized him in her basement, kept the medication i paid for without giving me a reimbursement. Told me one thing and did another. I would not recommend this person to ANYBODY for ANY ANIMAL. My fur baby passed away in my arms at home thanks to her lack of knowledge as a vet.
Definitely only after money! I had called this place December 14, stating my beloved pet cat had a medical emergency, and asked these people to take a look at her, stating they would ABSOLUTELY receive payment December 22 (payday). They completely REFUSED, saying they valued money more than an innocent animals life. My cat succumbed to her condition December 18. This place helped contribute to her untimely passing. Her name is Kairi and she will NEVER be forgotten.
Experienced and caring staff who made my dog and me feel comfortable. They also quoted a price estimate up-front, which was good to know too. Thank you!Unfortunately (for us) I had to return a couple of weeks later, this time with my cat. I had the same positive experience: Caring, supportive, professional staff and reasonable pricing. An emergency situation, be it for a human or a pet, is never a desired event :) But when you come to a place where you feel in good hands, where your worries are eased, relief is provided, questions are answered and procedures explained, that can shift everything and bring such peace. To everyone on staff, Angelina, Kathi, Dr Vet (sorry, didnt catch your name) - Thank you!
Highly recommend this place. Very thoughtful staff that tried to make a difficult day easier on our family. Would use them again in the future!
Great service. Very very lucky to have them in our community. It is worth any price to have piece of mind for your furry family!
I made several times a trip to you guys all you want excessive amount of money... you didn’t care for cat and approximately 7:58 this evening my belove Felix passed away
BE AWARE OF THE CHECK UP PRICE!. My bird was very sick. I did take it to them and they took a look at him for like 10-15min and I was charge $95 !!!!!! The Place is clean and faculty are nice and professional but $95 is way too much for a visual check up and some oxygen for like 10min.
I had to take my dog here because he had surgery at his vet and trouble with bleeding. The whole staff was so great to deal with, and very compassionate.
Pleasant staff and friendly vet. The emergency visit was smooth and they took the anxiety away from nervous parents. Considering it was a weekend emergency visit the price was more than fair.
After paying over $350.00 to get porcupine quills removed from my dog(who was sedated fully) I noticed my dog was limping and I found two quills in her paw pad they had missed...they refused to remove them without charging me additional fees. Go elsewhere if you need an emergency vet. Rip off.
Wish I could give negative stars. We rushed our cat over for throwing up, uncontrollable bowels, and just not himself behavior. Within two hours the cat was dead. The staff was great but the vet refused to help us unless she had the money upfront. We just had a baby and the holidays are right around the corner, money was tight and we were not asking for a hand out but for help. We accepted treatment we could afford after discussing our options, needless to say the cat died in my husbands arms on the way home. I blame the vet 100% for this, there had to have been other ways to handle the situation other than no money no service.
I had to take my sister’s 8 or 9 week old puppy there and they were very helpful.
My cat Baxter got a pretty serious case of fleas and he got an infection and started bleeding from his nose and mouth. I rushed him there and they just let me sit in an exam room for about 30 minutes before they even came to look at him. He was coughing up huge blood clots, it was so terrifying. Anyway they kept him overnight and got him stabilized. He was to be transferred to Centre Animal that morning. They told me to pick him up at 8am. I got there at 7:45. No one had a clue what was going on. I told 3 different people over a 2 hour time span why I was there. Finally they brought him out and I whisked him away. When i got to Centre Animal, i was seen right away even though i was late to the appointment i had scheduled with them. Immediately, the vet tech, got upset because where Bax had his IV port in was wrapped so tightly his paw was almost double in size. She was so angry that they wrapped his paw so tightly. It took about 2 weeks for his paw to heal. Longer than his infection. Also, CPV charged me about $2000 for giving him fluids and an antibiotic shot. I will try to find somewhere else if an emergency arises in the future.
Refused my cat to been seen, kept suggesting metzgers or a place in Pittsburgh... ridiculous! Metzgers is money hungry and Pittsburgh is over 3 hours away. Needless to say both emergency vets in state college are useless. Its sad.
These people are only after money!! They are keeping our dog sick so they can keep making money off of him while letting him suffer! Our 7 month old puppy has a blockage! They kept him over night pumped him full of fluids gave him a pill and said if he throws up he probably needs surgery. They then sent him home. They are an hour away from us and made us come pick him up at 10pm or they would send him to his primary vet (he doesn’t have one) and then the next night he threw up. Made us bring him back in at 11:30 pm and said we had to pick him up my 8:00am the next morning. They just pumped him full of more fluids not surgery like they previously advised! Then they sent us away and told us to take him to a different vet to fix him! These people do not care about the well being of animals! They sent our puppy home with a catheter in his leg! They just care about money not animals! Avoid this place at all costs if you actually want your animal fixed!!
We had a difficult decision and the staff was compassionate, caring and respectful. I will recommend them to everyone.
We took our German Shepherd in at 10:00 pm on Wednesday, discovered she had bloat and a twisted stomach. She went into emergency surgery with Dr. Parks. Today is Friday and we have our dog back home! It is expensive, but how do you put a price on a life saved? Especially a beautiful, much loved family member. Thank you CP VETS for saving Baileys life and giving us more precious time with her since she is only turning 7 years old this summer. We are very grateful!!
Ive heard awful things about this place, from lack of care to neglect. Ive also heard from multiple sources that they dont really care about your pet and just want a lot money to do a mediocre job. I will never take my pet here, there are other places in the area.
We took our 1 year old pup to this facility as an emergency visit for a simple ripped toenail. I knew the flat rate of the emergency visit was $105, $20 cheaper than my usual medical facility(metzgers) I figured due to the simplicity of the injury I could save $20 and go here. Was I ever mistaken, all these people want are money and not only are they upcharging you, but the vet is RUDE. Our pup was taken back to remove her toenail and get wrapped up. She came back doped up on pain medication ( 25 upcharge) and a wrap with a plastic bag ($28) which is fine to make her not be in pain) however, we didn’t even get to speak to the vet himself until requesting it. The vet assist brought our pup back and said we are sending you home with this and that and immediately I know that was just $$$. I didn’t mind purchasing the necessary items but metzgers never made me feel the way the vet did when he came to explain the prescriptions. He basically looked at my boyfriend and I like we were low life’s. I feel bad for the people working in this facility because the vet totally ruined it for me ! $200 later I am thankful I went to a vet but I am disappointed a vet can act this way to people who clearly would do anything for their pet.
If I could give more stars to them, I would. I unfortunately have had to go to this vet twice, once for my 14 year old cat, and tonight for my 8 month old German Shepherd. When I went for my dear cat, we found out that that she had cancer, and that her abdomen had been filled with fluid. The vet on duty that night (Andrea, I think?) was great and I wish she had her own practice. We decided to put my cat down, as she was 14 years old and couldn’t keep food down anymore. Andrea gave me all the time I needed, explained all the prices for me, explained the euthanizing procedure and let me decide what course of action I wanted to take for her remains. All in all, I was probably there for 3/4 hours and they never complained. They also sent me her paw print in ink and clay, something that has helped me grieve, as well as a beautiful cremation box. She purred up to the last second.Tonight, we took my GSD in for a limp. Long story short, after X-rays and an exam, it looks like he has a torn ACL. When showing us the X-rays, Dr. Haines remembered every question we had asked her during the initial exam and went over the entire scan and covered all those questions again. She also gave us multiple treatment options more in our budget, even though we’re deciding to get the $4,000 surgery at an orthopedic vet. Thanks to her, we now have peace of mind that we are making the best decision for our boy.The technician on duty also took great care of my puppy and even said he was the most well behaved pup during her 12 hour shift and she enjoyed seeing him.The only thing I have bad to say about this clinic is the waiting area is very small. Another dog was in there for treatment and my dog isn’t socialized with any other dogs than our Jack Russel, and was a little scared of being so close to another dog but all in all the other dog was friendly and we didn’t have an issue, but I do wish there was a bit more space. For anyone reading this and seeing people saying that all they want is your money, just know that both times I’ve gone there, they have never charged me anything I hadn’t okayed first, and also outlined numerous other more cost effective options. They are an emergency vet, they’re going to be pricier because they are open when no one else is. I can not thank them enough for the care my pets have received.
Staff loves their animals its so clear they do.
I can’t express my gratitude enough to the vets and techs at CP. After a long and terrible experience at another ER vet I called CP explained what was going on and took my dog over. They got Gunner right in, kept us updated throughout his entire surgery. He’s home now and still recovering and doing well. For any(I really hope none) further pet emergencies I will definitely go here. Many thanks- Gunner and The Shriners
This place had sort of helped me once. My cat was pretty far gone and very old and died anyway, which may have been unavoidable.Recently, my 3.5 year old cat developed jaundice from not eating and was awaiting test results for Leukemia and various feline viruses from our regular vet, and I was having a hard time feeding her at home with the syringe. I came into CP Vets on the weekend for help with feeding her, to find out if they could take over for a few hours or at least teach me how to do a better job. The tech said Well, this is a weird one. Weve never had anyone ask to board and feed a cat before. Let me ask the doctor. She disappeared and we sat in the room for about 30 minutes. I poked my head out the door after a while and saw them hanging out in the main room just talking and no one else was around. The tech looked up at me and said oh! when I came out of the room. We thought they were blowing us off, so to confirm we started to leave. No one even came in to politely say Im sorry, we cant accommodate your request. The secretary saw us leave and was on the phone. She barely flinched and never asked us to pay, which was evidence to me that she was in the plan to blow us off. Id been sobbing all day over the cat and looked rather unkempt from having spent the day running between vet offices in my pajamas, had cat food stains on my shirt from feeding attempts, so perhaps they thought i was insane. If they are not insightful enough to at least see through the initial impression of a client who is stressed out, then Im not sure how insightful they will be with regards to your pets needs.
At 10:30 at night, a lingering mystery pain our dachshund was having seemed to suddenly intensify, and we brought him to CPVETS, despite reservations about the cost. Google indicated that it would be our only 24 hour option, but in hindsight we should have called around a few places, as it turns out Metzger also seems to have a similar setup. My wish to have called other places is primarily based on wanting to have found the best price, though, because the overall service was all we hoped for.Winston was quickly triaged when we arrived and was handled very carefully. The doctor and other technicians examined him and checked all of the most likely problems for his breed, especially looking for issues with his back and neck. They explained that if the pain persists, theres a chance he could need further tests to be certain, but for the time being prescribed us two medications for his pain and advised that we keep him minimally active for a couple weeks to give time for healing in what seems to be a minor injury to his paw.Though the service didnt come cheap, 160 dollars isnt outrageous to be seen in the middle of the night and come away with two medications we are confident will be safe for our little man.As others have said, the peace of mind is so valuable. We could otherwise have been waiting until Monday, and the cost of missing work to get him somewhere else would have likely canceled out most potential savings, in addition to two days of worrying about what could be bothering him.I am very glad we went and pleased with the experience.
Expensive, but they were absolutely fantastic with my hysterical self when I had to bring in my baby. Im so grateful for the staff.
Wonderful! They handled a horrible time of having to put my beloved best friend down perfectly and with such care.
Dr. Kimberly Ferretti and her staff made a very stressful time much more bearable. All of You Are Awesome and Suzy and I are So Grateful!
I have seen some negative reviews about Dr. Parks and I wanted to write a positive review about her. She was wonderful and caring to my mothers dog. He came in with bloody diahrrea and vomiting. He was diagnosed borderline HGE. She wanted him to stay the night to get the treatment that he needed. That evening I spoke with her with an update on his condition. He was doing great!Next morning Dr.Haines (I apologise if that is not the correct doctor) called to give me another update. Again great night and still wanted to keep him for the day to see if he would keep his food and meds down. The technicians and receptionist were also very nice and caring to me and to my mothers dog. They gave me an estimate so I knew how much everything was going to cost.Yes, people have complained about the wait time. But would you like the doctor to rush through the appointments and not take time to speak with the owners and thoroughly examine your pet? I would rather wait and have to doctor take their time with each client. There is only one doctor on staff. Please be patient! I know how hard it can be to see your pet very sick or hurt but please understand that they are trying their best to accommodate to everyones needs.Thank you, CPVETS!
Vaughn Watson has the right dog and the right hospital. I brought Bo Myers in because he was throwing up and getting really dehydrated. I had to leave him over night because they were doing X-rays. They found some foreign materials in his stomach from the X-rays. Dr. Parks told me he needed to have surgery and said it would be a simple procedure to remove whatever was in there. She was supposed to call me before Bo went into surgery. She did not. I called several times in order to get updates on my dog. Finally she called me at 7 in the evening and said that she removed a foot of bowel and the foreign materials. She said it was a rough surgery for a dog at his age. He was 14. I was obviously very upset and asked how he was doing and she just was very unsympathetic and just kept saying he was doing as well as to be expected. 2 days went by and I visited Bo both days... and each day I got a different doctor. Some told me he was okay to go home. Other doctors said no you cant take him home. Neither time did I get Dr. Parks. I was so upset because of all these conflicting viewpoints from different doctors... I eventually took him home that second day because I could see how sad and uncomfortable my dog was. He was not eating or doing anything for the techs at CP Vets..As soon as he got home he was wagging his tail again. The next morning Bo threw up a lot of fluid.. I called CP Vets to see what I should do because he shouldnt be throwing up. They said bring him in again. We came in... and bo just collapsed on the floor and all of the Vet techs were saying to us how sorry they felt for us and for Bo... they took over an hour to see us with my dog laying there on the floor.. we eventually got in the room and sat for at least another 45 minutes before finally we got to speak with Dr. Parks, who did his surgery. She poked on his belly for literally 3 minutes and gave him some nausea medication and sent him home. Said he was fine. We were charged $400 for just bringing him back in when she did absolutely nothing... and they told us around 2,000 for the total bill and it was over 4,000. My dog died less than 12 hours later. The next day someone called me for an update on bo from CP Vets, as a follow up I believe... and I told him he was dead and they apologized and hung up. I called my mom..who called and told them to stop contacting me and to contact her in the future about the bill because I was devastated after losing my dog of 14 years. He was a family member... when my mom called back in to tell them not to contact me and change the info they had to hers... she voiced how upset she was over how we were treated to the tech. She told them I was never given any information regarding the details of Bos surgery and I was never given the option to put him down. At 14 years of age, had I known what was going on with my dog, and had Dr. Parks informed me and explained the risks and benefits of having the surgery versus not, like a good doctor, I wouldve made the decision not to put my dog through all of that at his age.. my parents were away on vacation and he was our family dog at the time all of this happened.. so I was alone and trying to save my dog and I feel like Dr. Parks took complete advantage of me and my emotional state. She absolutely explained nothing to be about the risks and benefits of the surgery. I was never even given any other options... so anyway, my mom was explaining all of this to the tech that answered her call, she was very apologetic and kind and agreed with us. She offered to let my mom talk to Dr. Parks, Dr. Parks told the tech she was unavailable to come to the phone and she would call my mom at a different time. She called my mom at 2:30am in the middle of the night and left a message... imagine had my mom woken up to this call from this random number at 2:30am. She wouldve thought something was wrong or there was emergency... not only that, who returns a patients call at 2:30am?? A coward. I never wouldve made my dog suffer like that and I struggle with this pain every day since hes gone.
This was a quick and convenient experience the vet and the vet tech were very empathetic and caring.
I took my 8lb dog there late at night few weeks ago. We didnt know what was wrong, if she was in pain, she was acting crazy, crying, inconsolable. Making the most terrifying noises, didnt eant to be touched. They were on call for and who my vet suggested to call in an emergency. We went in explained what was going on, they took her back to a room without us, gone 20-30 minutes. Then come out and we expect some type of report on what is happening. Instead we get a la carte list of things they can start with...they had done NOTHING at this point. A separate fee for even providing basic vitals on the dog. Then proceeded to tell me my dog was COMPLETELY BLIND. Which was absurd unless she had gone blind in the 20 minutes she had been back there. Just the lack of empathy ontop of that I had made decision we werent staying. I asked can you just give her something to calm her until we can get to our vet when it opened? She said NO only if she spent the night to be observed & started rattling off something about $2000 MRI or something. Now I love and adore my dog, however she is 15 years old but until this relatively healthy dog BUT at her age I just wanted to know if she was suffering, if she was in pain. I wasnt doing any MRI. I made that clear. They seemed all about the money so I said Id pay the office visit and something to calm her otherwise Im leaving. They consulted and did give her something that knocked her way out!! For hours but probably was a good thing. #1 MY DOG WASNT AND ISNT BLIND, LET ALONE COMPLETELY BLIND. #2 My dog ended up with Kennel Cough after being there. I was very dissatisfied and upset about the visit, misdiagnosis. I did give 2 stars instead of 1 though because they did after much persuasion give her something to relax her which i believe was beneficial.
My vet told me after 2 visits in two days I needed to take her CPV....Took my dog in due to infection in her uterus... was giving 50/50 chance that she was going to make it thru emergency surgery...They called me after surgery....i got to call during the night, and they sent me pics. Of her to make me feel better...Due to she was so sick..she made it thru her surgery and gets to come home in day or two... very expensive but worth every penny...
Took my dog there after having seizures throughout the night. They were wonderful and very friendly.
