This is my second time taking my car to be inspected/oil change. Each time the staff was extremely friendly and considerate of my time. Today they were very booked but were still able to have my car ready and out of there fairly quickly. In addition, I was told a helpful recommendation on what to do next with rust on my tires. I definitely recommend taking your car here if your in the area!

Every issue is explained thoroughly and my options are outlined concisely. It is always clear that the manager is attempting to lower my costs in every way possible. Manager Chris is extremely professional and kind and patient with any questions or comments I may have. Chris is always very pleasant, honest and respectful. I am always impressed with the treatment and work I receive from this location regardless of how small or large the job may be. I also find the costs to be very reasonable. They are great! My new muffler needed attached properly after having some issues getting it on. I took my vehicle in, they attached the new muffler properly. It took less than an hour and they did great work!

Every time Ive been here, theyve been super helpful. I came in with a flat tire (without an appointment), and they were able to replace it and get me back on the road within a couple hours. They were also able to get snow tires on my car in the fall on short notice ahead of a big snowstorm. Every time I go in, theyve been really friendly, very fast, and great about going over the details of the bill and offering me options that suit my schedule and my very limited grad student budget. Best car service experience Ive had anywhere, for sure.

I came in to the shop for a small issue with my car (plastic shield under the car came loose), and they took care of it for free! It was fixed very quickly and the gentleman at the front desk was very kind and said it would be no cost since it was a small repair. Great experience and would definitely come here again for any vehicle maintenance or repairs.

Short version: do not do your state inspections here.Long version: I had an experience very similar to other negative reviews of Monro. I took my car in for an annual state inspection and was failed on numerous charges totaling thousands of dollars of necessary repairs. My car was recently inspected out of state with no such issues arising, so it was obvious that they wanted to charge me for repairs I did not need. I got a second opinion at a different shop and passed my state inspection immediately. Im clearly not the first person theyve treated like this, so I recommend not going here for state inspection. I cant speak for their other services, though.

This place is amazing. I had issues with my hubcap and they not only instructed me on how to fix these issues and where to purchase new ones, but also offered a free instilation for my new hubcaps. The workers were kind, respectful and responsive. Everything got taken care of in such a short amount of time- if you need any work at all done on your car in the state college area I would recommend to go here for all of your needs. Great place and great people.

I called on a Saturday and was able to bring my car in to Monro on the same day to patch up a tire. They were incredibly generous and inspected my car for free. After finding a lot of safety issues, they worked with me to figure something out that would work with my budget and would allow me to drive safely for the next few months. They also offered another free inspection a couple of months from now to ensure that the car was still safe to drive. Excellent service, patient and understanding staff, will definitely be going back!

A very good place to go for car maintenance. I went there to replace outer tie rods ends I thought they need to be replaced but after inspection they told me the suspension is fine I don’t need to change anything. They could charge me for that but they are very honest people. I definitely recommend this place.

Their ineptitude in making an incomplete diagnosis cost me hundreds of dollars. They charged me for the same issue(s) more than once. I do NOT recommend them.

The check engine light in my car went on and I needed to find a mechanic in State College and I am so happy I found this place. The staff was amazing and fixed my car within a few hours after dropping it off. I was also given frequent timely updates about the status of my car. Would definitely recommend Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers!

I called about my check engine light being on and they were able to take me in immediately. They gave me a breakdown of what needed to be done, and sorted it by importance and price. I am not very knowledgeable about cars, so I appreciated it when they took the time to explain to me what each process was. Everyone here was very friendly and accommodating and I feel comfortable to come here for all of my car needs.

We had an appointment and we had two flat tires. Chris the manager helped us as soon as we got to the store with our tires. His crew replaced them and within a half hour we were on the road again to get to our appointment. Such nice helpful people. Excellent service. Highly recommend.

These google reviews are deceiving - check out Yelp.They didn’t look at my car for 2 days - I had to call 3 times because they never called me. Ultimately quoted me over $1,300 for a brake job (although they couldn’t tell me if it actually needs all 4 or just the front) and $715 for a CV Shaft replacement.When I came to pick my car up, they couldn’t find my keys and then asked me what work they did on the car.I’m getting the brakes done elsewhere for $500 and the CV shaft replacement for $240. This is $1,400 less than their quote.

I came to check my car’s breaks and alternator the staff were so nice and kind. At first they gave me a quote and later did it for free! Thank you for the quality service. I recommend this for car repairs.

They saved my vacation....Mckeesport,PA Monro did a tune up and they didnt tighten my spark plugs all the way. We broke down and this Monro fixed it. They were nice and fast. I would recommend to anyone if I lived near there.

They were empathetic and thorough in explaining the problem, checked to make sure they couldnt fix it with a basic/cheap weld, and (while it still wasnt an inexpensive job) helped me save around $40 on my final cost.I appreciate that one mechanic (Bill, I think?) focused several hours on the repair (which involved making a new exhaust pipe) immediately, so that I could get done the same day.Because I was in the waiting room for a couple of hours, I heard the young man at the desk take a lot of calls and inquiries. There was a consistent warmth, kindness, and willingness to help in how he talked with all of their customers.Finally: this location is walking distance to a Panera Bread Company . . . which is helpful if, like me, you didnt expect to spend several hours in an auto repair shop and need to keep getting work done!

I took my vehicle to the State College service center for first time last week (2/25) for oil change and state inspection. The service center insisted I needed a license light bulb assembly to pass inspection, though the vehicle was purchased in PA with fresh inspection last year in this condition. They also insisted I had a bad bearing which the cost for both the bearing and light assembly was quoted at $160 and $626 perspectively. I declined the inspection service to get a second opinion at another service center which passed the inspection with no problems and confirmed there was nothing wrong with bearing nor was the light assembling required.This being said, Im certainly not planning to have my vehicle serviced there again, since I simply cannot trust their services.

I went for the state inspection. I had an appointment at 11am and called before coming to my appointment. I left my car and waited 2 hours to my car get inspected. My car wasnt inspected during the 2 hours.

As someone who doesnt know a ton about cars, I always get nervous that Ill get taken advantage of at auto shops. Chris and the guys at Monro do a great job. Ive been using Monro for my and my wifes vehicles since we moved to State College 4 years ago. They are always honest and Chris makes sure to call with a summary of what the car may need as well as any other findings before going ahead with any repairs. They even recently checked my car for me for no charge to assess the body damage and make sure the car was safe to drive. This should be the Service Center you use!

I made a call last minute to have my tires replaced and my car inspected on the same day. The staff here was phenomenal and Cared about my situation. They not only got me on the same day but at a lower cost compared to their competitors. I was able to get four tires put on my truck—a wheel alignment and inspection within 20 minutes of calling. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to have their car repaired or a last-minute vehicle inspection.

Until I moved further away, I was a regular customer for a while at this Monro location. Staff were always courteous, helpful, and professional, frequently going out of their way to get you back on the road. Recently stopped by to have wheels balanced, and they discovered I had suspension issues that needed repairing. Rather than doing work that would have wasted money for me, they let me know their recommendations for a better long term solution, and I left that day with a free diagnosis. Some things dont change there at Monro - once again, super helpful and professional staff, mindful of costs to the customer. I would recommend again and again for people to get their vehicles serviced there.

Being a single female, Im always worried when I have an issue with one of my vehicles, however, I have found the folks at Monroe always go the extra mile in checking things and I have never felt overcharged for any of the services that Ive needed.

I had popped a tire one a sharp turn and needed to get it replaced as soon as possible. I was able to get an appointment the next day, and was in and out. While I thought the price was a little higher than I was anticipating, the speed and quality of their work warranted the cost. Would recommend others to come to this location, but to just keep in mind standard questions around cost and what not.

Got rotors replaced on the rear axle here. Service was fine, but they charged $250 more than they guys down the street who did the front axle a few weeks later. Didnt mention that they were replacing brake fluid either.Take the free brake inspection, but call around before you let them do anything. Learned that the hard way.

Normally when you think of mechanics you think of them trying to overprice you or try to scam you. This place does not do that. They have a friendly staff and they handle your car with excellent care. Additionally, the quality of work they do for you car is outstanding and their prices are quite low. Overall, this is a place I trust and will keep coming back here to fix my car.

I cannot understand why it is so highly reviewed in google maps. I just expected to do a normal oil change a couple of weeks ago. They drove my car out and back for a while. Then they told me there was something wrong with my brake system. They charged me hundreds of dollars to replace them. However, when I ask my friends working in a body shop, they told me no needs at all to do that. What is worse, they gave a quote about replacing other parts, totally would be 2k dollars and warned me I would not pass the inspections without replacing them. I didnt accept that. When I went back home, I asked my friends again. They told me those parts are rarely broken. Then I went to another inspection station. They were very friendly and checked my car carefully. I was informed that my car is perfect and has passed the annual inspection successfully. Finally, I would say Monro is very rude to customers. Sometimes they took masks and sometimes they didnt. With masks, sometimes, I could not hear clearly and asked whether they could repeat please. They didnt have any patience at all. I felt really bad.

Went over there to help my friend with her car, the were nice and quick about fixing her tire. No hassle and no trying to sell me things I didn’t come for. In and out in 35 minutes. Great experience

I’ve been in State College for 2.5 years attending law school; I own a BMW-which needed the entire front end suspension rebuilt when I arrived—welcome to PA.I was referred to Monro on Atherton and decided to give them a call to find out how much this was gonna hurt.1. Listen to the way that the manager, Chris, answers and greets you on the phone each and every time you call. His sentence always ends with “whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with?” This SHOULD be normal-but has been lost in the last 10 years. That’s your first clue.2. Each and every time through the process of the rebuilt front end; the tire installation and rotations as well as oil changes-every employee has been courteous, respectful, and professional. Clue number two.3. I’ve lived in both NYC and LA. I’ve dealt with a number of mechanics-something they don’t tell you at the foreign car dealership...service is inevitable and the prices are astronomical. Not here though—each time I’ve come in, someone has searched for a better price than any dealership can offer; the work is always exceptional and guaranteed. Clue number three.4. Lastly, mechanics-like lawyers don’t have reputations for taking care of their clients: they have the reputation of overcharging and taking advantage-I’ve experiences this from both professions unfortunately—but I have never experienced that here, not have I suspected anything close to it. Clue four.I do, have and will continue to recommend Chris, Sebastián, and Monro in State College to everyone I meet. This is the only establishment that should work on your vehicle. Period.Best,Ryan

I go to Monro for all of my car needs! I moved to State College in 2018 and after trying out a few different auto shops I landed on Monro and have been going since! They are a great group that is trustworthy and always take the time to explain each process to me. I have an old car that frequently has issues and they are great at helping me sort through what is needed and what is not. I definitely recommend this place! They are the best!

Told me what was wrong with my car, great!However, after the terrible customer service by Chris in the service department, I decided to take my car elsewhere. 3 out of the 3 conversations I had with him on the phone, he had cut me off mid sentence, didnt care what I was saying, then proceeded to attempt to overcharge me for things that werent even necessary to fix my car.Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone looking for the even half decent deal on a car repair. Terrible experience.

What can I say... The customer service along with the communication was exceptional and out of this world. I thought I was handy with my car and was able to fix the purge valve on my ford focus.... I unfortunately then broke my radiator house. Most car shops were closed, but this shop was open and got me right in the door. I called them up and the manager himself then took a look at my car. They lifted my car up and gave me a nice quick fix. The service and help was so exceptional that I gave the mechanic a tip. Hands down recommendation!

Impressed with State College Monro Muffler service. I had water leaking on the passenger side of my car from a plugged AC condensation line and a rear running light that was burned out. Manager Cody got my right in and had the line cleaned out with an air compressor and bulb replaced. Didnt charge me. Wow--that doesnt happen very often.

New muffler, just over an hour, $100 less than other repair shop. No appointment. Price at the register matched the estimate.Flawless. I highly recommend them.

In state college for the summer/school and needed a car inspection. Made an appointment for 8am here and got my car inspected along with a list of other fixes to my car.. was finished by 12:30pm the same day! Best prices and staff in town.

I went in for a state inspection and got new brakes and a few other minor things. In and out quickly and feeling like a valued customer. Chris at the front desk is very professional and willing to work with you. Does not seem like a place that tries to up charge you for everything. I think the service here is overpriced. Replacing a set of rear brake pads and rotors was around $700, with 2-year warranty (including labor cost). They told me my car would also need an alignment (~ $110) and rear struts replacement (~ $800). That was very strange because the car passed state inspection at Midas in July and I took it to Monro in September after hearing some squeaking noise.So I took the car to a local mechanic recommended by a friend. The mechanic told me the suspension was fine, but an alignment would be good for the car. He suggested going to TireTown. TireTown quoted me around $70 for a four-wheel alignment and appointment was available the following day so I chose to go there.I don’t know why this place got so many good reviews on Google Maps but I would definitely recommend checking with your local mechanics (e.g. Graham Exxon, Traditional Auto in State College) or other auto service centers before going to Monro.

The employees were very nice, but they are not very good at dealing with cars. I went in with a broken tire pressure sensor, and they said it was one of the front two, but they couldnt tell which. By the way, only one person in the entire place knew how to operate the machine that determined which sensor was broken, and then that machine wasnt even working when i went in. So they said they would have to replace both front tire pressure sensors. I then went to Grahams Exxon where they told me it was the left rear tire sensor and fixed it immediately.

I work for a local business that has their fleet serviced at Monro. They always do great work and go above and beyond for us! Their service is always timely and reliable.

AVOID AVOID AVOID, took my car over here for a general inspection and oil change, since I just bought my car and about to take it on to a long road trip during thanksgiving, I was willing to spend more to make sure everything was ok. Spent over 1 grand on breaks, oil, sparks and two weeks later I was shocked to find the simplest part --BATERRY DEAD, car wont start at all. Jumpstarted my car and took it over to Monro, wanted them to check my car again to make sure whether if I need to get a new battery or just because of cold weather -- drive more to charge it. The guy assisted me simply did not really care about my frustration and printed me a bill of freaking 470 bucks. For you reference, I later called mercedes benz of state college, who is not even my dealer, for a battery change, they only billed me 320 which is 150 bucks lower than Monro. This place will rip you off if you are not familiar with your car or asking for a specific service!! AVOID AVOID AVOID
