I contracted with Flowers just before the buyout and was told this was the last Flowers service as they had been bought out. As usual they delivered promptly. With my project now over, I called for removal and that’s where it all went wrong. I called the Flowers number for pick up only to get a recording from Republic that hangs up on you after 6 minutes. After a week of trying I finally called Republic directly. The person informed me there would be a $235 pick up fee. Flowers never charged that. They said there is no record of me being a Flowers customer and I have a Republic roll off. The picture attached proves them wrong. The complete lack of customer attention from an automated system when calling the Flowers number is unacceptable. I was told when ordering this service that it would be my last one with Flowers as they had been acquired by Republic and starting the next week they would be part of the larger company. I have no problem paying Flowers fees for this but will not be paying Republic fees as I did not contract with them. I understand growing pains but this is as poor as it gets when it comes to handling this situation.

Service was good until the last month. Missed pick ups. Called six times to get garbage picked up. Was told the same thing each time,”Entered account for missed pickup. Will pick up the next day.” Four no-shows. Billing messed up. They said I closed my account. I did not. New account opened with different account number. Over charged. They changed the pick up day without any notification. They said date was changed because I was a Flowers Sanitation customer and they bought them out. I have NEVER been a Flowers Sanitation customer. They said I was notified by mail. I was not !!!🤬

I owned a motel in rural IL for over 16 years. We had Republic Services for our trash disposal. During this long association there were times when we needed to reach out to their office staff. I as the business owner do not remember if any of their staff members let us down ever! Among them all I was greatly impressed by the professionalism and efficiency of one lady out of their Springfield office - Ms. Brittany McLaughlin. Brittany always did her best and beyond, and saw that our requests were met in timely manner. If it was something that she did not handle personally then she would ask the concerned people to reach out to us and then follow up with us! Of all our vendors Republic Services in general and Ms McLaughlin in particular would top the list for top reviews! Our thanks to everyone at Republic Services. We enjoyed working with you guys!

I had service here for 10 years. I always thought their customer service was poor, but I liked that they had a whole can for recycling. We have moved and are trying to get our account closed and inquiring about moving service. I have spent HOURS on the phone with extremely RUDE reps and no one can help me. Supposedly then there are no notes from my previous calls. I literally can’t get help!! We have obviously decided that we won’t be using their service at our new homenow, but now I can’t even get the account cancelled or the cans picked up! They were supposed to have closed the account and picked up the cans at the end of July. They didn’t and now we don’t own the home. We have neighbors that were kind enough to allow up to put them there for pick-up (next door), but now Allied is suggesting we should have left our dirty garbage cans with the new owners when they didn’t pick them up!!!! And they are saying they won’t get the cans from the house next door!! Not only that they are rude while doing it! I encourage you not to use them - if you ever need anything you won’t be able to get help!!!!

We tried Republic for regular waste and recycling service after recently moving to Springfield IL. Truly awful experience. Repeated missed pickups, repeated assurances about getting it fixed that were never kept. Lots of happy BS from their customer service reps operating from a phone bank in Boise. Finally had to drop their containers off in their local parking lot to be rid of them. You would be better off burying your waste in your back yard. Republic sucks.

My initial phone call was to a local resource in Bloomington, IL for Republic Services, Renee who told me to reach out to Jeff. I called and as I was leaving my voicemail for him he was already returning my call!I have great things to say after speaking with Jeff Holt, Construction Account Manager!He acted quickly and professionally resolving a scheduling issue for an upcoming job site, not only did he listen but followed up and got the appropriate persons to contact me for a quick resolution. I was very impressed with the level of customer care that I received today. Thank you Jeff!

I have had service for 10 years and never any issues until the last couple of months. Numerous calls for missed pick up of recycling container and now our trash. Every time I have called was told but the customer rep that the operations team for my local office was going to be getting a note for request of call to us as we offered to temporary move out container for easier access of pick up. After 4 escalations still have not gotten a call back.As friendly as the reps are I would not recommend this service as there is no way to actually talk with someone from the local offfice to get this reoccurring issue resolved

Republic services you have some great drivers /workers. just witnessed a driver stop and pick up a large fallen tree branch that I forgotten to put on the curb for yard waste. going the extra mile in service quality. Will definitely consider your services when my other contract expires

Started service with this company 3 weeks ago, they have yet to pick my trash up, I’ve been home all week and tried to lie and say my container was not outside, I have cameras to prove it’s been outside since Monday at the end of the driveway.. tried to offer me a credit to stay with them, I’mCanceling and going with someone else, they won’t refund me my 3 months I paid for in advance and they haven’t done their job once!!!!

UNRELIABLE! We rented a dumpster last wednesday to clean out our house as we prepare to sell it. I called them the following Tuesday to let them know we’re ready for the dumpster to be picked up. I am told they might not make it until Thursday. Okay, fine. Thursday comes and goes. No pickup. I call again and am told they can’t come out until MONDAY which is when we have someone coming to take pictures of our house…You know, so we can sell it! I say Monday is unacceptable... three people and three phone calls later, eventually a supervisor says someone will “guaranteed” be out TODAY (Friday) to pick up the dumpster. Still no pick up. Will NEVER use their services again.

If you can get trash pick up from anyone else I would recommend that.I have been moved out for about five months now. I am still getting miscellaneous fees from anywhere between $30 to over $100. These include account closure fees, container removal fees, etc. I was told at my last payment that we were done paying these fees but was just charged another $30 fee.This just doesn’t seem right, very unprofessional.I will say during my five years in Chatham, Illinois, there were times when we had to call Republic services because they were increasing the charge on our account for no good reason even though my neighbors were being charged for less for the same services. Obviously they are just trying to make more money for no increase in services.At my new location I am paying less money for trash removal with much better quality, and my trash is removed 2x/week. I would not recommend this business to anyone and I doubt I will ever use this business ever again no matter where I live. Do better, Republic Services.

At the end of April, I signed up for service and a $50 deposit was taken out of my account for the garbage can. The garbage can was not delivered and after a week, I called back to cancel service and ask for the return of my $50 deposit. Since it was the beginning of May, I was told that I had to wait until the end of the month, after the billing cycle ended but they would close out my account. Mid-May I received an invoice requesting payment on my account that was supposed to be closed and called them again. June 7th, I hadnt received the return of my deposit and tried to call. After being on hold for 10 minutes, I decided to email. The reply back was that the refund amount of $30.37 will take 6-8 weeks. That money was taken out in a matter of minutes but can only be partially returned in 3 months after they received it? Dont waste your time or money.

This is the worst company on the Midwest. As a small business doing business with them for 15 years I will recommend you stay away from bullies like this. A company that thinks because their size can have a contract that never expires and that renews automatically for ever regardless of the service or prices. Watch the small print, always. What they are doing is a monopoly buying all the small companies so they can rule the market and charge insane amounts of money. This should be ilegal because the consumer will end up hurting. During COVID we all helped each other in my community but not republic services they don’t care about the community for what I’ve seen on the reviews. Stay away !!!!!

This place is the absolute worst. Let me preface this assessment by saying I have never had any trouble with any other waste management company in my entire life. With this company it is constantly something.The main issue is that they frequently (at least 1-2 times PER MONTH) don’t show up on the scheduled pick up date. The first time or two this happened I gave them the benefit of the doubt. A new stop on their route it’s not implausible that they just forgot right? Six months in and they are still having the same issue. Upon calling their office they will tell you they will send someone out by the end of the day. In every instance this has happened, not one single time has anyone ever showed up the same day. So you’ll call them the next morning and they’ll say the same thing. This cycle repeats until the next scheduled pick up date. When they do show up they won’t take any additional bags of trash to make up for the previous week they missed. I have had to make multiple trips to the landfill to get rid of the waste they are being paid to dispose of. They’ve given zero compensation for that. No credit on our bill, additional week(s)of service, or anything at all.As if this wasn’t bad enough, they will also try and bill for services that they offer but then refuse to provide. I’m mainly referring to recycling. They’ve billed us for delivering a recycling bin that they have still not delivered. Calling about this led to a similar run around as them not picking up the trash. “Oh we’ll get that recycling bin delivered in the next day or two.” After about three months of dealing with them just completely ignoring the issue, the person on the phone finally agreed that it was likely we would never receive a recycling bin from them and they grudgingly refunded the charge for the bin.As far as getting your trash disposed of goes using republic is bar none the very worst option you could possibly choose. Any other company in town does a better job. I believe even not having a trash pickup service and hauling everything to the landfill yourself would end up being more convenient in the end.

I would give 0/5 if it was allowed. I do not recommend this company for your home or business. The worst costumer service experience I have had and they provide very poor service as well. I will be taking my complaints to the BBB were you will find this company has over 1100 complaints in the last 12 months. Please do your homework before agreeing to do business with this company.

They have missed our house for 3 weeks in a row now. It has happened at least 10 times since we started our service in February. Every time we call customer service they never have a reason for the missed pickup. Theres always a promise to have a supervisor call us back but its never followed up on. The customer service reps are always rude and unhelpful. We always have our trash out the night before our scheduled pickup day so theres no reason to miss our house whenever all of our neighbors have their trash picked up with no issue. I am done. We will be finding a new trash pickup service. This company is a complete joke.

My neighbor talked me into trying this service as it seemed that having one really large can (96 Gallon?) seemed to be easier than having two smaller cans. However, she did not tell me that you get charged Per can (the recycling can too) over $50 dollars for delivering each one (you don’t own them). You also get charged over $50 per can to have them removed/picked up. Had I known this, I would have never tried the service. In addition, they have a monthly “administrative fee” others don’t charge, and an additional recovery fee that is over $20 per quarter. My bill went from $94 in Sept 2019 to $101 in July of 2020 with no explanation- thank goodness I wasn’t on auto pay. I returned to Lake Area Disposal because they only charge what Springfield allows to charge and doesn’t hide fees in administrative fees, road recovery charges and recycling fee charges. The difference between bills will be just Under $50 per quarter year= $200/per year!!! That’s not counting the container delivery and pickup charges I lost but would have saved had I stayed with Lake Area Disposal. The customer service at Republic Services is professional and all, but not worth the price tag in my opinion. Also, Lake Area has recycling pick up WEEKLY. Republic only does it every other week, which is awful if you miss your pick up day for some reason and recycle fairly well. Republic doesn’t make you separate your recycling either- which strikes me as odd and makes me wonder what they actually do with the material. Lake Area asks you to keep paper products together, glass in its own bin/bag, and plastics/tin/aluminum can be in one bin...they send you a flyer that explains details. So if you don’t have a lot of space the extra cost to have Republic Services might be worth it to you. The other negative for Republic is if it doesn’t fit into the bin you have to call to arrange special pick up- and pay more. Lake Area does do that too but in my experience is ok with items that don’t fit in the can as long as you use some common sense and courtesy and don’t do it a lot or take advantage of them, which I think is fair considering they are more flexible and affordable. There are stickers you can buy at Ace Hardware and other places when you need to put another full can’s worth of items out ~ for $2 each. Very reasonable in my opinion. So when you price out quotes be sure to ask what a quarter’s “bill total” will likely be and any extra fees and charges other than the per can charge. They only told me what the per can charge was, which by the time you pay for the drop off of the cans (And inquire about stopping service and discover a charge to pick them up) forces you to feel like you have to stay with them until you can off set/ justify those costs when canceling. Definitely ask about pick up and drop off charges of the cans too. They may have gone up.

So I have several different issues with this company. Mostly it comes dowm to the fact that they refuse to get out of the truck. I just had an issue where I had to place some extra recycling out and it was not in the container. They of course dont get out of their truck for anything and didnt pick it up. Now 4 weeks prior I did the same thing and they got out dont know what the difference was but oh well. I called them and they told me for an additional $24 they would come back and pick up the one piece of cardboard that they didnt get. Also, by the way recycling is picked up and dumped into the same truck as regular garbage which I dont understand at all. I would think there is a contamination issue but I am no expert. Now today I go to bring in the garbage container when there is a small pile of trash right next to it. I bag everything in that container so somehow maybe my neighbor or some other container had it-who knows. They left a nice pile of trash for me to pick up and I took a pic and will post if possible. This company is ridiculous with their lack of professionalism. I pay for my garbage to be picked up not for myself to have to pick up trash. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Easily the worst Company Ive ever had to deal with. I wish I could give zero stars. Between them messing up my account, charging ME delivery fees when they messed up the delivery. I called, several times, escalated my issue, was told 3 different times from 3 different people that a supervisor would be calling, and Ive yet to get a call. They so grossly overcharged my residential account, that it shows I have s $270 balance for last month. Ive only had service with them for less than 2 months. I called, again the associate couldnt fix the issue, but could tell what happened, so sent an order in to have a supervisor call me, and no response other than I received a termination of service letter today for non-payment OF A $270 BILL THAT I DID NOT ACCRUE AND WILL NOT BE PAYING! Before you ask to send an email to [email protected], Ive done it and guess what? No response, no reply, no call, nothing. Ill note, this issue is from before COVID-19 was an issue, so no excuse there. This is poor service, plain and simple. Unless you are a district/regional supervisor or higher, do not ask me to do anything else, Ive done enough. Its your turn.

Too bad we can’t rate 0 stars. We had high hopes for this service because the first receptionist we talked to was very nice. Then when we finally had their service they kept missing our recycling. When we tried to call and get it taken care of after months of them missing it the area manager contacted us back. Told us we were liars and we had been missing the days (even though we would put it out the night before like they told us to)... literally told us we were liars. So we cancelled the service. And the charged us $30 PER CONTAINER to pick them up. Writing this I’m trying to find something positive and the only thing I can come up with is that we are finally done with them. You know, after the $97.89 bill they sent us.Believe me there are better alternatives. We are now happily using Lake Area Disposal. Last interaction we had with Lake Area was them going out of their way to pick up blown over trash and trash cans in the pouring rain just to be nice. No prompts, nothing in it for them, just them being nice. So happy to have switched!

We had an unusual situation affecting our recycle. I made a call to Republic, but the recorded phone service, when I chose option 5 other issues transferred me to a man located in Indiana who said that Republic Services couldnt help me. A wonderful local female city employee called for me to the local Republic Services number, and Springfield Republic Services took care of our problem within 45 minutes!! Also, we have never had an issue that wasnt resolved quickly with trash or Recycling, and the drivers are fantastic.

My landlord texted me and informed the cans are still at the house. Representative: It looks like the pickup was scheduled for last Friday, please be sure the cans are curb side for pickup. Customer: VERY FRUSTRATED.Whats wrong with this picture? A customer calls, has moved, and was told one thing (in lieu of storms, place cans in an accessible location for pickup), only to be told something completely contradictory two weeks later (cans must be curbside for pickup). On top of that, a pickup date was never communicated in the beginning and service-receiving parties are left to guess when actions will happen.Ive been a loyal Republic customer for many years across households, but it feels like there are significant and unprofessional miscommunications between company and customer. I find this experience to be beyond frustrating, primarily because Republic Services is sending mixed messages and now making requests beyond my control when Ive already moved. Highly dissatisfied at the dissociation in customer service.Come on, Republic, get it together. Lets end on a good note. Please come and get your cans at your earliest convenience.

Have called 6 times, 2 weeks later and I still don’t have my trash cans. I paid and then when I didn’t received my cans the first time I called to find out my account still wasn’t active and I needed to wait yet another week to get my cans. Also there’s no where around to drop off trash and they won’t do pick ups without the can because it involves them getting out of the truck. Each time they tell me they can’t do anything about it because they’re in NC or IN and can only send an escalation to call in which I’ve never received a call and this has been requested 4 out of the 6 calls. Requesting my money back to go to another company.

I haven’t even had my trashcan two months and they keep taking it for no reason and then when I call and complain that my trash is piling up they say set it by the road we’ll pick it up and they never did. I put plastic matress shipping covers in my regular garbage can and a wine box. The covers (think huge garbage bag) are not marked as recyclable. For this action Republic moved my garbage can from next to my house (I pay for house walk up & take) and refused to empty it.Dont put anything they deem WRONG (they do not tell you what wrong is) in your garbage can or they will refuse you service.

Republic is horrible! Our bill started around $45 two years ago and our most recent bill was $105! We havent added or changed anything either! Ive had enough of the constant price increases. I called to cancel services and they want to charge me $43 per can (I have 2) for them to pick them up! They tried to tell me that I still have to pay my next bill and then will get refunded at a later date. Im ending services in September and they want me to pay for October-December....how does that make sense??They also miss recycling all the time. We havent had our recycling taken in a few months and when I call to report it nobody answers or they transfer me and then never pick up the phone again.Switched to Lake Area today and had wonderful customer service from them, plus a bill of less than half than republic!

Highly disappointed. I called them to set up service. $50 to set up with a $30 delivery fee for the cans. I give her my card info and she charges me $169.91?? She refunded the money saying that it will take up to 3 business days to receive it back, then tried to charge the $50 from me again. No thanks. That was on a Thursday and it is now Friday, money not in my account, so now I’ll have to wait til Monday to get my money back. Republic just lost a potential customer from this.

My experience with Allied Waste is excellent all around. I am glad to be given two big, sturdy trash cans one for recycling and one for real trash. Payment online goes smoothly. No problem whatsoever so far. Definitely recommended!

These people are the worst in Springfield. Originally had Lake Area and switched when I moved because I thought the big blue cans Republic used would be easier to use. After repeated complaints about yard waste not being picked up and switched back to Lake Area who has always been dependable.Now the city hired Republic to pick up city wide yard waste and its the same problem over and over again. Rotting yard waste is sitting on our driveways because they fail to pick it up. The city needs to revoke their contract and go with Lake Area.

Started using their service recently and it is severely lacking. They only seem to be able to pick up my trash but not my recycling or yard waste. Been told different locations, curbside and alley, for yard waste. Customer support is not very responsive. Tried to call twice and was put on hold for 15 minutes. Requested a missed pick up for recycling through the My Resources app that wasnt carried out despite the request in the app saying it was completed. Recycling is only done every other week. They seem to be very inconsistent maybe due to a lack employees or internal communication. They give off the vibe that they dont really care. I feel like this shouldnt be a very difficult job to accomplish.

I hate making complaints but Republic service is very horrible about picking up recycling. I have had my recycling can out several times and no one picks it up. I have called to check date on the next recycling pick up. Pick up was to be today and still no one picked up. I know if this keeps up I will change service.

At times, their service is TRULY TERRIBLE and the phone people seem wildly unconcerned. We used them for a few years but eventually had to give them up. Too many missed pickups (especially around holidays). Our Xmas pickup this year was supposed to be Tuesday. On Wednesday, we called bc they hadnt picked up. NO sorry or anything. Just well get you tomorrow. No pickup on Thursday. Called on Friday. Oh, youre schedule today. No pickup. Dropped them after that. Never an apology or anything. They arent a cheap service either. They just cant handle the work.

This is the WORST company Ive ever dealt with. Messed up our service, weve talked to at least 10 people over the last 4 days, spent hours on the phone. They promise its remedied, then nothing. They guaranteed our garbage would be picked up today after 4 days of saying it would be and wasnt, and guess what? After confirming with two of your useless employees today that it would indeed be picked up, it wasnt.We are so stressed and praying to God that our HOA doesnt complain about our rancid garbage after 5 days of sitting in 100 degree outside because this company is incompetent!I dont know what the hell youre supposed to do when they wont do pick up your garbage and they keep saying they will!Republic needs to train their employees, you should be able to talk to a supervisor, and they should pick up your trash when you pay for the services!

This company is a JOKE!! I have never had to deal with more unprofessional people. The lady in the office telling me that I ran a bad business because I didnt answer the phone when she called was the last straw. If I had employees like this company I would be out of business!!!! I also agree with whoever said they are unresponsive. It took over a month to get someone to call me back on a quote. Absolute joke!! They will no longer have my business!

Great service, competitive prices and excellent customer service. Free recycling, no separation required. I had a problem with my first bill, called in, and had it taken care of within minutes. I thought I had a problem with my second bill and called in, only to find out that I had read the wrong line on the bill and only owed 30 cents. The rep credited the thirty cents because it was less than the cost of a stamp. I dont know what this fool means by unresponsive!Theyll pick up yard waste so long as youve bought pre-stamped bags or picked up a city stamp for whatever bags you do decide to use.Finally, every now and again, they come through my neighborhood while Im on my lunch break. My wife and I have both seen them, on many several occasions, stop the truck, run behind her house and grab her trash bins, and haul them to the truck. My neighbor is an elderly lady who can probably barely remember its garbage day, let alone drag her own trash to the curb. Thats just good service, plain and simple.This company has always responded to my problems - even when theyre not real - and I havent spent more than a few minutes on hold. They not only provide the service, but go out of their way to make peoples lives easier. And thats something rare to find in any company, let alone a garbage disposal company.In short, I cannot find a single bad thing to say about this company, which is rare. When Im compelled to write a good review about something so mundane as a waste disposal company, you can bet its worth considering. One of the other reviews is 4 years old, and Matt is just dead wrong about the yard waste. Have no idea what he means by unresponsive, since theyve always been quickly responsive to me. I can only imagine he cut down a tree and tried to argue that they should haul it away.

Ive never had a problem with Republics timeliness of taking my trash and recycling. What I have had problems with is their lack of work ethic when it comes to using those trucks that pick up the cans. Ive come home to have my cans in front of my driveway, overturned and broken. Two weeks ago the trash truck knocked over my full recycling can and didnt even bother to get out and pick it up. They left recycling all over my yard. Just yesterday the recycling person missed their truck and left plastic bottles in the street and my yard. Thats unacceptable. Get out of your trucks if you make a mess and FIX IT. I will be changing my waster hauler.

I called to set up local business service with my sales agent who sent me a quote my trash can was supposed to be here Wednesday the 14th it is now Thursday the 15th of January 2019 I spend 30 minutes on the phone with Republic to find out the nobody even set up my service and the only thing they want to do is continue to ask me questions and now theyre telling me even though they failed to do their job they cant get me a can or service until next week good luck getting your garbage removed they dont even pick up the business next to me on time one from these people Waste Management I am a local business owner and they cant even seem to get me service started

Terrible customer service, rude, BUT they can quote their contract word for word...we will sue you for the breach. it is however ok for them to breach the contract by not picking up in accordance with their contract, which also can be changed by them at any time. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

After numerous missed recyclable pickups and complaints over the past few months I thought we would have settled the scheduling issue by now.......well we didnt, because they missed yet another pickup shortly after talking to a rep who said this recurring complaint will be registered and addressed at the next higher level.I spoke with a rep for a missed p/u on the 9th and here it is 2 weeks later and they missed the next p/u scheduled for the 23rd. TOTAL INCOMPETENCE!!!!The only reason I gave it one star is because it wouldnt accept ZERO

Ive had thier sevice at a vacant house I own and am in the process of remodeling. Out of the last year they have picked up my trash on average once every three weeks and recycling about every month and a half and only because I call and bug them. Trash is supposed to be picked up every week and recycling every other. Their probably the worst company Ive ever dealt with. Essentially its outright fraud.

I have been with Allied Waste for a while now. I have send payments to them by mail, online, and over the phone. Every time that I send a payment other than talking to someone directly on the phone, they never credit my account. They have cut my services of 3 times now even though I paid the bill on time, each time with them wanting to charge a huge charge to restart the services. What does it take to restart a service that your getting paid to do? Today was the last straw, we will be moving to a different carrier.PS: they dont pick-up yard waste and they are one of the most expensive services in town. huh?

They overcharged for a couple of years before I caught it. Then the customer service rep made up a new rate even though rates are controlled by the city. They would never fix the bills. So every billing cycle I would have to call up to tell them they were overcharging. Finally had enough and dropped them. I’m sure they do this often and see if the customer catches it. Many people don’t know the rates that Springfield allows them to charge.

Mark Starr and Molly Angsten are two of the most dishonest people we have ever dealt with. If you are considering using them in a commercial capacity I would look elsewhere. They come in low on the price and within a couple of years it is out of control and then they tell you how stupid you are. I switched changing my bill from $489 per month to $200 per month and when we switched they refused to remove their container essentially trying to stone wall us into continuing with their service.

Trying to cancel service and have trash and recycle bins picked up. My mother has sold her home. Called on Sept 7 and they said to place the bins on the curb for pickup on Sept 21. New owners graciously placed bins curbside....didnt pickup on Sept 21. Called again...this time they said to duct tape the lids shut and write on the bins that these are the ones to pickup and place curbside for pickup on Oct 5....again new owners placed them curbside. Again they werent picked up. Again we no longer live at the house. Called this morning and told them they must pickup bins today. Horrible customer service. I will never use this company nor recommend this company to anyone. Situation is still not resolved
