One of the worst hospitals I’ve ever been to.I tried bringing my cat in due to some concerns we’ve been having regarding her bowel movement and her not eating nor drinking water. I had to wait outside with my animal to begin with and was checked in by a nice male. However as soon as I was brought back was outright terrible. The male who took my cats vitals seemed more concerned than the dr herself. The woman came in and was more concerned about my mask rather than my animal, she cut me off after every sentence, did not ask for her past medical history or even examined her properly. She picked her up for 2 minutes at the most then left saying they wanted to run some test but all in all to give an estimate of what I’m going to be paying for. The nurse after had came in and started explaining what she wanted to do then stated the price. I refused and did let him know that I was very disappointed in his dr and her sense of urgency. He said he was sorry then proceeded to get my papers. As he came back he told me that the dr was stressed out and that’s why she was behaving the way she was. Unacceptable, it’s not mine nor my animals fault she’s stressed. He then proceeded to tell me that just like an emergency unit at a hospital is relatively the same response we would’ve gotten. Which is funny considering I’m an ER nurse and REGARDLESS if I’m having a stressed night would I EVER treat my patient the way she treated my animal. He then proceeded to argue with me about the situation while I clearly was finished talking to him about his colleague. All in all WORST HOSPITAL FOR YOUR PET …. Please if you’re like me and your animal is basically your child… do not take them to this clinic
On Labor Day 2021 our Maltese developed a problem. All local vets around Joplin were closed. I called the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Springfield and they said to bring our Maltese in. They were busy but only took about 30 minutes to work her in. The problem turned out to be a minor one and they were able to take care of the problem in about 20 minutes. They were very friendly and when asked how much we owed they said there was no charge as the problem was minor and easily repaired. We were expecting to pay an office call and a clinic charge for looking at her. They could have easily charged us $100 to $150. We were very impressed as well as with the service we received.
I am grateful for them getting my dog in quickly. Dr Lea and the staff were very friendly and took great care of him. Critical patients come in all through the night and I felt they surveyed situations based on severity. ER clinics can cost and can take a long time to get your pet back home. As a pet owner, my pets are worth the money and time.
Brought my 3 year old dog in with symptoms at 4:30am from an hour and a half away. I was able to get right in as no other patients were there. My dog has high anxiety and would not let the vet examine her so I suggested a light sedation. I also HAD to tell them to take her to the back on a lead instead of trying to carry her. Once they were in the back, they gave her ANOTHER sedative (more on this later). The doc finally got results and reported to me at 7am - Pyometra early stages THEN said if I did not have her spayed by the end of the day, she could die - BUT it was too close to closing for them to do it. They suggested showing up at her regular vet and demanding an immediate spay ??? They gave me Amoxicillian and brought her back to me-- she was completely unresponsive - as if she had been anesthetized. I was mortified. I was able to talk to my regular vet, who told me the antibiotic would hold off a major uterine infection until a spay could be done and not to panic - I waited another 6 days til we could get her in to spay and during the 6 days she was just fine. Meanwhile, I did take her to another vet for IV fluids just to pull her out of sedation. When we arrived at that vet, they though she was dead, she was so drugged and it took almost 3 hours to wake her up. We were both traumatized. If they would have just lightly sedated her, gave me the antibiotic and told me she would be fine but spay as soon as I could, I would have left happy and been fine with the $600 bill -- NEVER again!
I’m so grateful to see some compassion people that doesn’t look at dogs and cats as just animals, they take pride in caring for fur family babies! We were trying to rush our baby princess a hour away from this Emergency Clinic to get the care she needed, but within 45 minutes still away, our baby princess passed away. We were devastated to losing her, we called the clinic told them she didn’t make it, so sincere and offered us to bring her up there, asked if we needed a room to say our goodbyes, gave us different options, so we had her cremated. Very reasonableWish we had an emergency care for our fur babies closer to home, she might be still with us today. Thank you everyone that helped us that terrible night it’s not an easy situation ❤️🐶❤️
(Im not going to go completely into details but) Sunday I took my sisters kitten in she was unresponsive and they told me it was low blood sugar she seemed to be doing better before we left purring responding to her name etc I FINELY got an update call at 1:30 Monday and the doctor said that she was doing fantastic that she should make a full recovery and shes good to go home she failed to tell me she had fading kitten syndrome which has a fairly low survival rate and needs veterinary care i didnt find out until RIGHT before they brought her out if they would have told me over the PHONE I wouldnt have brought her home yet they made it seem like she was perfectly fine even one of the techs seemed surprised the Dr discharged her I feel like she lied to my face to get her out the door she was dehydrated and wasnt responding quite right my primary was able to see her and they said they are extremely surprised they sent her home her health dropped just the time it took to get to my primary she did everything she could but she passed away in hour after they discharged her 2 hours after the Dr said she was doing fantastic they pretty much lied threw their teeth so please dont take your fur babies here their horrible communication took our baby away from us😭😭😭😭😡😡😡
Amazing staff. Kept my husband and I up-to-date on our babys progress. Very responsibly priced for emergencies. Our time here has been 7 hours and still going. Staff handled my anxiousness and questions very well with understanding and concern and the knowledge of recognizing our Great Dane isnt just a Dog. He is our baby, he is family. Facility is very clean and well kept up with in every room and seating area. They offer water for people like myself who cant leave their baby.
I brought my cat here while she was actively dying. Twitching, drooling stiff and cold. Im convinced theyre miracle workers because my cat lived to tell the tale. The vet was compassionate and answered all my questions. The techs were all super nice and very gentle and loving with my cat. I felt comfortable leaving her overnight knowing she was in good hands. Very professional and I got to hold my cat for a couple minutes before leaving to see she was going to be ok. The next morning they had everything sent over to my vet already and ready to drop my cat off at the regular vet with no hassle. I couldnt be more grateful for this place!
We brought our baby (Cole) in for a visit for a blockage yesterday night. Knowing good and well this is an emergency facility I knew it was going to be pricey but I didn’t care when it came to Cole’s health. Whatever had to be done was going to be done. The staff (specifically Dr. Seals, Zeth, and Connor) were friendly, comforting, and patient with all of our questions. They explained things to us in a way that made sense. The gave us all of the information. I’m so grateful for the care and comfort provided. Cole is already back to his playful self. The bill was shockingly low. I was expecting at least $500 more than what we paid. Thank you so much!!! I hope to never have to see you all again but it’s nice to know you’re there if we need you!!
The registration process could be better. The doctor was very knowledgeable though and determined what was wrong with my dog right away. They treated her promptly and I felt comfortable with their diagnosis and treatment.
Brought our dog over after he threw up a huge blood clot. The Doctor that came into the examination room did not even ask questions or made contact with the dog she just went on to say we could do blood work or send him home with nausea meds. Didn’t ask basic questions about his diet or behavior prior to. She said dogs throwing up blood is normal and she sees that all the time!!!!! I’m no vet but everyone else including 3 other vets agreed is never normal for a dog to throw up blood. When questioned about never giving the dog a physical she said she had done it while we talked which is a lie cause she never moved from standing against the wall and only kneeled over once when I asked her to check out a mass on his neck which she also blew off as fat tissue. I didn’t feel as the vet had any concern for the dog or any basic people skills she was just taking the easy way out rather than trying to figure out the problem and get us out of there. If you are willing to pay that much money for your pet you should at least get the level of care and attention you are paying for!!!! Unfortunately there are no other emergency vets clinics but I will never ever bring my pets there.
Called to check on information for my pet during emergency. The vet on the line kept cutting me off, and seemed more concerned about closing up and going home for the day rather than offering any hope. Seems others havent had a great experience here, dont know why I bothered. Anything for the love of an animal in my eyes, but anything for a dollar or bust in theirs- first impressions last.
We waited 8 hours with a sick kitty. Staff was rude and unprofessional. It was $360 for antibiotics and hydration and the cat is still sick. I had to advocate to get help and that even took 8 hours. They have no competition in town so you are forced to use them. Avoid if possible.
We experienced a truly traumatic beyond words incident with our dog. We didn’t get to leave with our dog but the staff was extremely compassionate and quick to action, the vet took my phone call again later to answer my questions which she had already done multiple times. I fully expected to have a massive bill and walk out with no dog on top of that but that was not the case at all. The compassion and genuine care that was exhibited was exactly what we needed during this tragedy and I could not be more thankful for them.
Worst place to ever take your animal. They do not care about animals at all. Took my dog in today and all the woman vet did was argue with my husband. She wouldn’t listen to us. She basically had no compassion. We ended walking out and not paying. They wanted us to pay 1300 for treatment that the dog didn’t need. Went got a second opinion from another vet. Needless to say they are only out for money.
I have been here before, a few years ago, with my Kitty Cat Billie, AKA SnotNose. Then they were absolutely fantastic. Tonight we brought her in, in an advanced state of kidney failure. They got us in quickly and promptly. They were very kind and very helpful and understanding. Absolutely will not find a better staff, will NOT find a better staff anywhere. Thank you all!
We had an amazing experience Friday night. In just a few short days my dog lost 30+ pounds with matted eyes at 11 years old and they treated him with so much love and compassion. Everyone we had any experience with there was so kind to us and our dog. Yes I spent more but it was an emergency situation so I totally expected it and would do it again. I would bring any of my pets here. Thank you EVC!! Two days since our visit and you can already see such an improvement he is already put on weight, his eyes arent matted and has so much more strength back... Bullet thanks you too!!!
This is an emergency clinic, and I understood it was going to be expensive. That being said, bringing in my dog who was having a true critical emergency, they went above and beyond my expectations. This is not a general practice veterinary clinic and it is a business, but they really are compassionate, caring, and extremely skilled people who came through for us when we needed it the most. I cant say enough about how valuable they truly are and how appreciative I am to the doctors and staff here. I wouldnt hesitate to return if heaven forbid I ever needed to again. My deepest thanks and highest regards to you all at Springfield Emergency Vet.
Ill never come back. They made us wait 6 hrs. Then still charge it as an emergency visit. They have a couple decent tech guys running around while no one else seems to be doing much. Only as a last resort and youre better off driving to the next closest vet. And I got to step in dog poo right when I entered the building.
I had a positive experience here a few years ago, but something has changed. Very rude staff. When people come here, theyre terrified that theyre losing their pet. Being snide and belittling isnt helpful. Pricing is also incredibly high. Yeah, I get that its emergency services, but why should it cost 4x or 5x what a regular vet charge? Because your options are to pay it or hope your vet hold on until your regular vet opens.
Due to an an emergency situation my beloved cat needed to be euthanized suddenly. This clinic was unbelievably kind caring and understanding and allowed me the time I needed I could not have gone to a better place for my loved ones last moments
Took our dog in late one night paid $400 just to hear them tell us what we already knew and didnt have an answer to any of our questions made us wait 2 hours and then pretty much just told us to take her to another vet.they dont know what their doing. Not caring staff at all. dont wast your time or money.(Dont know if the day staff is different) wont go there again
Its 6am on a Sunday morning... Im pretty sure my dog is running a fever. I just read 15+ bad reviews. With the owner only responding to 1. And that was about a problem with their phone system. If I was the owner... I would be embarrassed and ashamed of so many horrible and bad reviews. And I would investigate and reply to each and every one. Many said vet and staff rude & uncaring, basically making sure they can charge a big fee and then tell you to take your furbaby when your veterinarian to them when they open...Hoping my girl is ok... Not going to chance it with this place...
If I could give zero stars I would. Took our 15 year old girl in last night thinking she had a stroke. When we walked in we were told to wait outside. And wait was what we did. Finally, after they started taking people who arrived after us, my sister went in and demanded they at least check us in. Rude man finally ce out, looked at her and when we told him she was confused and unable to walk. Begrudgingly said I guess Ill go get the gurney. We ended up leaving with her and taking her home to make her comfortable until her normal vet can see her. Im so upset I cant see straight.
My wife and I want to thank Dr. Toner and the staff for helping us say goodbye to our friend Max. They were so kind and compassionate. They made an unbearable situation bearable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
If your pet is in critical condition do not come here plz..
I dont know why there are so many low star reviews. We took our furbaby on recommendation of our Vet after being seriously ill. Upon arrival front desk was very friendly, got into examine room quickly (was a 1.5 hour wait but thats to be expected with an ER), they explained costs of everything upfront before proceeding, we had x-rays done, IV for hydration and antibiotics, she was given barium and left there to be monitored, it turned out she had a blockage. During her overnight stay we were kept informed every step of the way, the helpers and veterinarians were always extremely friendly and compassionate. Unfortunately our girl did cross that rainbow Bridge in the end. However, I could have not asked for better care! The costs were really not much more than taking her to her regular veterinarian and again to be expected because they are an ER.
Had our border collie slash her leg open tonight - they did a great job stapling up her leg! They were extremely comforting to us as well. Thank You so Much!!
We took our beloved 3 year old cat in Saturday because she wasnt feeling well and getting worse by the hour, Dr. Lea was absolutely AMAZING! The staff was all very kind, helpful and even though they were very busy, each one of them did a great job. Dr. Lea explained all the procedures, tests and the costs involved before doing anything without our consent. I truly appreciate all of them and the care they provided to our Squeakers.
This place will work in a pinch but I have now taken 2 Animals to them, that they tell me should recover, get hundreds of dollars out of me…only to send us to our vet when they close, for the animals to be euthanized! I feel like this place is a scam. They know they’re the only ones open, and people love their animals/are desperate for a vet but all others are closed, so they tell you what they need to in order to get your $$ and then kick you out the door. I hope and pray that they actually give the treatment and do what they say they’re charging you for, bc I’ll never understand how they say an animal is going to recover and be just fine, and then after their all night treatment, $500, the animal has to be euthanized bc it can’t survive without a blood transfusion, and only a 10% chance of surviving with one!!…not to mention an even less chance at a quality life if so. I Highley recommend going to your vet if at all possible. It’ll save you money And heartache and grief!!
Dont waste your money our baby girl broke her leg took her in X-Rays and meds over $400.00 and they basically doped her up and told us to take her to her regular Vet. The next day. This place is a joke so seriously dont waste your money I wouldnt even call this place a vet clinic. I really wouldnt even rate them 1 star honestly.
My friend’s cat was SHOT twice, and tried bringing her baby in for emergency care at your “animal hospital.”“When I took my cat in to the emergency vet, I was given 3 options.1. They could take his leg and tail and I take him home today.2. They would take his leg and tail, keep him until Monday to recuperate a bit before sending him home.3. Euthanasia.I went with #2. Do the surgery, keep him and make sure he gets the antibiotics he needs and start the recovery process.I call them a bit ago and was told that they were making sure he was stable before performing the surgery, and that they hadnt done it yet and then she literally hangs up on me.I call back a few minutes later because I hoped to talk to someone else but no one was available, so I left a message. The Dr called me back just to tell me that they never intended on operating and that they were just keeping him until I can pick him up and take him to another vet for his surgery. So basically my cat is laying in a cage somewhere with 2 bullets in him until I can find someone else. That would have been fantastic information to have at 2 oclock in the afternoon and I could try to find some help.”Horrendous place. Do NOT take your animals here🤬🤬🤬
My dog got into a fight with the neighbors. He was messed up pretty bad but they stitched him up and gave him pain meds and antibiotics. He was back to his playful self in a week. Highly recommended.
Our cat had a good sized gash on his leg. We showed up at about 9:30 at night. And they were busy. While it was a slight inconvenience that due to covid, only one of us was allowed in with our pet at a time, they were very upfront with everything. From pricing to aftercare procedures and what was expected. They got him sedated and stitched and ready to go in a decent time frame. Its never good when you have to take a pet to the vet, but this place is a good option when you need it.
Its called Emergency Vet clinic but trust me their in no rush! My dog was extremely sick, unable to walk straight, lethargic, in bad shape. We got their at 730pm no one in front of us. Were the only patient vehicle in the parking lot. Our dog didnt get treated until 950pm and didnt get to leave there until 1045. Ive never in my life been to such a slow vet. After all said and done not only did I sit there for 3 hours but it cost me $400 dollars for an IV and some pills. If its an emergency go some where else!!!
Absolutely terrible, I would give it zero stars if possible. I would like to say it was just a bad night for EVC but we have had two very negative experiences here. The doctor was rude and did not seem to care about the problem, she cared more about enforcing the mask policy, even though Springfield’s mask ordinance is over, than she cared about our dog. We waited 6.5 hours our first time and 4 hours the second time. If your situation can wait for you to see your regular vet, I would highly suggest it. Don’t put your pets through a traumatic experience if you can help it.
Even with covid restrictions we were able to get to the front desk within 5 min. Explained what the issue was with our small dog, the lady asked a few questions, noticed a piece of grass in his nose and went ahead and took him back to the vet. He was returned to me within 3 min. With A vial that held a 6 piece of grass. That was causing all the problems. In and out within 10 mi. Couldnt have had a better experience. Thank you so much everyone for making a scary experience as stress free as humanly/canine possible.
We brought a kitten in a few days ago with a botfly, maggot eggs, and ticks. They got the botfly out. They said they got all the eggs, but we kept finding more as we made the journey back to MN where we live. The kitten ended up taking a turn for the worse and we had to take her to another emergency vet in SD. The vet there said the botfly wound was not properly treated and had to keep the kitten overnight to give her fluids and bath her to remove the rest of the eggs and ticks and whatever else was on her.
We had a great experience with The Emergency Vet Clinic tonight. When I called to talk to them about my dog getting into some medication and my concern of an overdose they were so nice and got advice from the vet quickly. I called again to let them know we were bringing her in and talked to another person who yet again was so friendly. My husband was the one who took her and said that the vet and the staff were great. He did have to wait in the car but he was kept informed throughout the whole time. We were so worried about our dog but she was in good hands and they got her all taken care of!
They knew why my cat was sick.........but theyll run every test they can if you let them........they couldve handled it better, I only went to them because they are they only emergency vet.......they know people are there because they love their pets and in need of help and I honestly think they benefit from that. Everyone I know that goes there regrets it
Everyone I talked to was very polite and friendly, and they got my dog right in with very little wait. He had eaten mouse poison, and he came out of it just fine, so I am happy with the treatment and care that he got. I would give 5 stars for the staff and service. BUT, after paying a $300 deposit just to get in, I got a call, AFTER I had left the dog and was headed home, that they needed another $400 and would not continue treatment until I had paid it. Seems like this is something they should have taken care of while I was still there. But, they may have saved Coopers life, and I am very grateful for that.
They guy who checked me in was polite.Don’t go here unless u have $800+ on the spot. Ended up euthanizing my kitten bc I couldn’t pay $600+ for a heating pad and IV and then had to take the chance of finding him a place to go at 8am (he could’ve died in that time period). Couldn’t refund my money from the deposit and tried being rushed out of there. The lady tried sending me home without my kittens body and didn’t give me the blanket back either.
Their rating is 3.1 with 350 reviews after my experience with them I’m shocked that it’s above a 1. I was concerned about it being so low but I needed to have my dog seen & had been told by other vet clinics to bring her to this sorry place.I called before I took my dog in to make sure I could get my her seen. She started developing an ear infection late last night 9/10/21, (like she has 2 other times) & since it’s Saturday & I called 3 other vets that were open to get her seen, I was told they were full but I should take her to this place & get her seen before the infection gets worse. I then called and I was told they took walk-ins. After driving 1.5 hrs. was told she need to be critical & she wasn’t serious enough for them to see her and that I need to take her to be seen on Monday. More than likely she will be serious by Monday, 48 hrs later and she is getting worse. Oh, by the way she’s my service dog.If I could give them a negative 5 I would. Also if they had been busy I’d have waited. But they weren’t. I had even expected to have to wait. It was an animal ER. Serious cases get seen 1st & less serious get worked in. Very sad.
We have been trying to get a hold of the only emergency veterinary clinic in Springfield. My husband was put on hold, and then the call was lost. We have been trying to call again and no answer. My mini schnauzer got bit and has been bleeding bad since. We are hoping we can figure it out ourselves. So, thank you for nothing!
We had to take our 8 month Goldendoodle here, transferred from her regular vet on a Friday night, on Memorial Day Weekend. She had a suspected bowel obstruction. I arrived around 530 pm and waited for them to open. There were already 12 people in line by the time they opened the doors! Everyone I encountered was friendly, helpful, and were working so hard to keep up with all the patients, from the lady who checked us in to the doctor. They work like a regular ER, triage style, so obviously the pets in the worst shape are prioritized, as they should be. I did have to sit and wait for about 2 hours to talk to the vet, but again, they were SO busy. My dog was admitted and the vet called me around 11 pm to let me know they would be doing surgery and then again around 2 AM to update me after surgery. She called me twice daily to update me on her status. Everytime I called to check on my dog, I encountered friendly employees who provided me with peace of mind. I appreciate everyone here so much and dont have a negative thing to say! There are only so many employees to deal with so many pets in the only overnight pet ER in the area! While sitting and waiting, I heard so many rude pet parents come in, angry about a wait for their dog who had a cough or the sniffles while there were several critical illnesses that took priority. I imagine these are the folks who are complaining and leaving bad reviews. As far as cost, yes it was expensive but not unexpected, especially for the care my pup needed. And of course they have to take deposits prior to care because imagine how many people would get care for their pets and never pay! Its still a business that has to pay their employees, cover supplies, etc. I dont see how you could not expect that! They saved my dog so I am forever grateful!
Called today 5/31/21 & tried to setup appointment. The woman on the line disconnected midway through the conversation.Tried to call back & was greeted with a message saying “This number is temporary unavailable”.
Very kind and knowledgeable doctors and staff. Thank you for what you do.
I recently needed to take my dog there for care overnight from our regular veterinarys clinic. I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the staff was. From the front desk person the hallway, to the technicians and the doctor treating my dog. I left there knowing she was in the best hands that night. I hope I do not need to go back but if I ever do, I have no need to be anxious. I trust their care 100%
Place is terrible, our dog had massive swelling and could barely walk and we waited 4hours for them to yank his arm that was swelled and basically gave him a shot and told us to see his main vet. The doctor was very rude also, we asked what the best option would be and she said “I can’t pick for you that’s your decision”.
Complete scam!!!!!!- They charged me 300$ just for fluids and an xray. The same exact thing done at our regular vet only ran 130$ ... They then told me I needed to spend 2000$ for a surgery in the next 2 days, my dog had swallowed a small necklace. The xrays we had got a few days prior compared to the one we got at the clinic was a 90% improvement. The majority of the blockage and necklace was gone.. They never even attempted to compare xrays even when I presented the previous scans. Only that my 7 month old puppy needs to get cut open to remove it. Online it quotes the MOST expensive possible procedure for a dog (hip replacement) runs on average 1700$ .. how would a stomach incision cost even more? Thats almost impossible, EVEN if I was considering surgery.. which Im not. They seemed rushed to do the surgery, which was completely unnecessary. Making me feel like they only care about money and not your dogs health or care, adding unnecessary things to your bill as well..Then acted extremely rude when I was questioning their outlandish pricing. Do not ever take your pet here unless it is the last resort. Or if youre made of money and dont mind waiting 4 hours to even have your animal discharged to you.
Apparently “critical status” (I’m guessing covid restrictions) keeps them from seeing a dog after being bitten by another dog. Leg is swollen, puncture wounds are visible, but because we were (thankfully) able to stop the blood, they wouldn’t even see him. Told us to go to our regular vet, who isn’t even open and is by appointment only. Didn’t even offer any information on how to help him at home until we can get to our regular vet.Although...with these reviews, not sure I want to bring my injured dog here anyway. Seems like a complete joke of a place.
I took in my 8 week old puppy in the middle of the night. She was so sick snd they were very kind and helpful. They treated her quickly and helped her recover! I am so grateful!
Horrible customer service. Had to beg for proper testing to see what was wrong. Absolutely positively will not go here ever again unless it’s my absolute last resort.
My husband took our cat here early in the morning thinking maybe they wouldnt be as busy at that time. He was waiting in his car a total of SIX HOURS. This seems to be a very common complaint even with true urgent emergency cases and I just dont get that. 6 hours for things that should have only taken maybe an hour at most. I get that theyre busy and have a lot of running around they need to do in there to see every patient but they NEED to improve on their efficiency in handling their patient load. I dont know if theyre severely understaffed or what but its just mindblowing that theyll make people wait in their cars for hours and hours on end like that AND with VERY little communication and with a price tag of almost 500 dollars. I hate to think of any severely injured animals having to wait that long in suffering before receiving any care.
They paralyzed one of my dogs from the waist down with a shot years ago. I have a new dog now and over memorial day weekend he started coughing, my vet was closed so i took him into the emergency vet, they prescribed him 5 diff meds. I go home, i call my regular vet that following tues when they opened, my vet told me to immediately stop giving my dog all the meds they prescribed. My dog has never been aggressive towards anyone until the trip to this emergency vet, the vet tech came in and just instantly grabbed my dog and lifted his tail and my dog snapped at him. My dog has not been right since that visit and taking the meds they gave me for 3 days. He is just not right and edgy and aggressive now. This is my 2nd dog that has gone to that vet that hasnt been right since the visit. So i advise that you seriously wait it out for your regular vet if possible. These people just want money and give 0 about your pet. $350 later and my vet told me through the meds away and do not give him anymore. All this for a small case of kennel cough.
It took me a little bit to realize I should of left a review of the outstanding of care I received at the ER Vet in Springfield. About a year ago, my family found ourselves at the ER Vet three times in one month. Three different childhood dogs, out of three, in a month needed care after hours. As our dogs are family, we did not wait till the morning or Monday and decided to go to the ER Vet.Two of the dogs did not have the outcome anyone would of wished, while one has made a marvelous recovery. The way the Vet and staff handled these situations was beyond incredible. For me, my heart was shattered when my almost 18 year old Maltese had a seizure around 7/8pm on a Sunday night. I knew this dog longer than I have known anyone besides my parents. My boyfriend and I talk a lot of the night we lost our boy. We mostly talk about how incredible the vet was EVERY TIME we discuss it. She came into the room to relay the lab results and begin to cry as she said this was one of the worst cases of renal failure she had seen and was not sure how he was still with us. Had it not been for her going above and beyond in the situation and relaying what she would do if he were her own, we might of made a decision based off of our emotions instead of his pain. I can not thank the Vet who took care of us enough for the compassion, support, and most importantly care of our dog we received that night until early morning. She told us to take him home for a few hours(as long as he did not seem in too much in pain) and come back when we were ready or to see if he passed on his own. We took him back around 1 am. These words helped us to measure out if we were making the correct decision for him. I can tell she has experience in this area. What I find particularly valuable is the time they let us spend with the two of them. Not once, in either situation, did they rush us when saying goodbye as we waited for other members to say goodbye. They did not ever push to collect money and let us make the approach to them when we were done.Yes, the cost may be higher than your normal hours vet but I would not hesitate to take my dogs here anytime they’re open in the case of an emergency. I don’t know how a staff maintains such excellence in an industry where most patients are critical.I so wish this could be my primary vet and would be interested in using them for more than emergency situations.
Positives-They were openThey were friendlyNegatives-The price kept changing without discussing going further with care. We said that our vet would be open soon and we would go there. But we were reassured every time that would be the final amountThe price kept going up a couple hundred dollars each time again without agreeing to further care before our bill had already went upI was told total price would be $80 to start then when I talked to them next we were at $300 for the exam and that it would $521 for exam medication and X-rays and when I went to pay it was $650That price included exam X-rays and medication only and to follow up with our vet because her leg was broke.Nothing resolved for $650 other than what we already knew, it’s broke, we still have to go to our regular vet to have the bone set.I only write this not to complain but just to help the next person make an informed decision. Thankfully we had an emergency fund but if we had not and had to use our bill money it would have been good to know she wouldn’t get anything resolved until seeing our regular vet anyway and saved several hundred dollars.
They are very nice and helped get Charlies nose to stop bleeding long wait but they are pretty busy all in all wearth the wait thank you.
Dr McCann and her team were such a relief to our little family! Even with COVID restrictions and curbside service, they were attentive, thorough, efficient, affordable, and comforting. We arrived around 8pm with our kitty Sasha and by 9:30 we had clear and easy after care instructions as well as discharged. I had seen other reviews from previous clients and were somewhat concerned, but after the care we received, my husband and I can affirmatively say that we were beyond satisfied with services. We have spent more $$ on vet visits in the past than we have for our personal care and were satisfied and blown away by their low rates.
In 5 years with 4 animals we’ve had to come here 3 times. Twice we’ve been able to get right in and once it was really busy and we had to wait a few hours to be seen but no matter how busy they are, they always take the time to provide excellent care and communication which is especially appreciated when you’re worried about your furry friends. So glad this place is here!!
They were extremely rough with my dog claimed that he is aggressive WHEN HE IS NOT. He was just terrified and they were so mean to him. Vet was unpersonable and the vet techs would trash talk us the second they left the room ( like I hear you?) Not to mention they didnt even treat my dog who was very ill. They literally shrugged their shoulders.
All I can say is dont bring your pet here unless you absolutely have to!! They are rude and I waited for 4 hrs and didnt find out anything other than she tested negative for parvo! They were more fixated on that than anything.
Worst place ever! My dog was having an allergic reaction to something and his left eye and mouth was swelling. Drove about an hour to Springfield since no other vet was open on Sunday and when we got to the emergency vet. All they did was barely look at my dog and told us to just give him Benadryl because they were only treating more serious issues right now.
Two of our dogs were having diarrhea and vomit for the past few days. Brought them here tonight, waited about 4 hours in the parking lot. Only wish they told me it would be 4 hours so I could make it to work but thats okay! It was well worth the wait for the health of our family members.Otherwise, It was very affordable for 2 dogs. They are sleeping way better right now. The veterinarians and technicians were top notch. Very informative on post-op care. Some of the negative reviews on here confuse me. This is because these people are complaining about bringing animals in and saying they arent able to pay the vet fee so they complain about it on the review? That makes no sense! Of course you pay a vet fee if you take any animal in YOUR care, to ANY vet. The vet fee is higher for a REASON (honestly isnt THAT much higher for an emergency clinic)!I thought they did a really good job. If I ever come in next time please just let me know that I can leave if it will take this long for some test :-) !
Went to this clinic unexpectedly this morning when our cat became lethargic and not himself. It was busy but just like any ER you go to for yourself, especially during the weekend when vet clinics aren’t open, you should expect a wait. When you are waiting you must keep in mind they treat the most urgent right away too which again, you should expect and not be mad about. We filled out paperwork and were kept informed that we would have the next available room and to wait in the car. When a room opened we were promptly seen and my concerns were addressed and I was definitely heard. The veterinarian was very friendly and very informative and treated my kitty very well. I was very pleased with the care and friendliness of staff despite the business this weekend. (So grateful for your work!)It may be expensive, but you should expect that if you don’t have pet insurance and you are taking your pet to an emergency vet clinic. You can’t put a price on your family member! Thank you to all the staff, my kitty is already feeling much better after only a few hours of treatment.
This clinic is the epitome of the term maskholes. Absolutely ridiculous. Disorganized because they are more concerned about face masks than they are about efficiency. L o n g waiting times. Vet that did NOT inspire confidence. Our dog had a slight temp, low white blood count. Thats all. After $500+ in tests, vet says the generic word for anything they cant figure out... Parvo. Kind of like the dentist that says you need a deep cleaning because it will cost five times what a regular cleaning would cost. Well, we didnt leave our dog there, though the vet suggested we leave him at their hospital. After several days, our dog is doing better and weve figured out what was wrong. Hes allergic to pork. Pork allergy. Not Parvo. This clinic gets a vote of NO CONFIDENCE. Taking monetary advantage of people that fear for their pets should warrant fines and penalties.
Took one of our dogs in last night. Their covid procedures are a little confusing, but greatly appreciated. They made sure my dog was stable before we went back to the car to wait. Once they took him back, they called me with their evaluation, then a few minutes later i was called with an estimate. After a short bit, they brought me the meds and paperwork, and told me he was taking his time waking up. They kept me updated on everything, took care of what he needed, and the price was completely reasonable. The initial consult fee was much less than I thought it would be. This was a great experience in a horrible situation. Would greatly recommend when needed.
The grotesque lack of compassion, empathy, or any basic human emotion that I encountered here will forever be with me. I drove a dog and its owner there after the dog had been hit by a car and left to die. There is no excuse for how uncaring the staff was and how little dignity and/or respect that sweet dog and its owner were given in its final moments. Get your staff trained on showing elementary emotions that we are taught in kindergarten or hire people who can keep their hearts soft. If you care about your animal even a small amount I recommend taking your dog elsewhere or letting it die in your arms, because either would be better than what I experienced today.
Our 14 year old arthritic dog slipped and injured his leg while we were in Branson and after hours so all local vets were already closed. We took him tothis emergency hospital in Spinngfield. They were busy so we had an extended wait. When we got treatment everyone was very sympathetic and professional. We were given a written estimate for the diagnostic tests and were told that the treatment would probably be additional. The vet suggested a treatment after the initial exam and gave us another written estimate. It was determined that he had dislocated his hip and they could attempt to replareposition it..All options were explainef and we agreed to have them reposition his hip. We left him overnight and returned the next morning to pick him up. He came through well. We also received a credit on the bill that they had ooverestimated.Only complaint was the long but understandable wait and the very early pick up time.
In mid March I needed to get care for my ill Seeing Eye dog and this was the nearest clinic available... Upon entering I explained that the V.A. paid medical bills for my guide dog. I provided them w/ all info needed to get an invoice paid through the 3rd party vendor the V.A. Uses in such cases. They could not folow instructions and kept me alone in a room w/ my sick service dog for 2 hours while they continued to fail in figuring out what to do w/ me... I finally asked for meds, canceled any testing, and told them I’d personally pay the bill to get out of there and away from their ableist treatment of me... Upon exiting the exam room I asked where to go to pay the bill, at which point a staff member told me it was taken care of, so I left... Fast forward a month and I’ve started getting calls from a collection company concerning an unpaid bill at said clinic... I was never presented w/ any bill, or even called to take care of this bill. Furthermore, they refuse to answer my calls, and the aforementioned collection company has graduated from harassing me to including my wife in the harassment... Neither myself, nor the vendor mentioned above can get any response to any calls and/or inquiries... They are condescending, unethical, unprofessional, and loaded w/ serious bravo sierra.... Not a single person at this clinic should ever let the words “thank you for your service” come out of their patronizing mouthes...
This place is a scam, took me for $427, said my dog had Parvo and they were wrong. Thank God I took him home,. He had chewed on a football and was blocked. All the dogs that day had Parvo or so they said. I dont know what they are up to but not taking my pets there ever. This place is very crooked. Call a Moble Veternarian for they are worth it. I recommend to stay away from this place. They dont even deserve the one star.
Worst vet ever!!! We live 1 hr away drove all the way after we called just to get there and be turned away because they said they were to busy. My dog was in pain all night till I could get him to the local vet this morning to get him help.
ANGELS AT WORK! Needed to bring my aged dog in for euthanasia. Filled out the paperwork and met them in the exam room. I was able to spend 45 minutes loving on my pooch before the procedure, then hugged him while he passed. best $182 I ever spent. I may never take a dog to my vet again for this procedure. Dr. Kaitlin was amazing also! She talked me through the procedure (even though Ive been present for 10 other euthanasias) and basically held my hand, listened while I cried, etc. Do not hesitate to go here for this procedure! My dog passed peacefully and painlessly. My heart is broken but Im at peace. They did goof up my dogs name and breed, which upset me under the circumstances, but apparently they had a new person entering data. Hence the 4 and not 5 stars.
Sent to voicemail with a very sick dog and needing to know if they’re busy. Would ring 20 times, then would only ring once. The employees don’t want people to come in late at night, the only reason anyone even uses them. Don’t use them.
Would gives 0 Stars if I could.. took my cat up last evening was told he should be okay after procedure done they left him hooked up to a catheter and told me to take him to my regular vet this morning which upon reading the blood work the vet decided euthanization was best. Givers of false hope with no explanation given other than take cat to my normal vet. Should have just let my cat stay at home last night where he was comfortable and taking him to pass today. I will never use this location again and I recommend anyone else to not use this location as I feel I have been steered wrong and given false hope
Dog ate rat poison they got him to vomit it up right away and gave him some extra attention at 1230 at night...visit plus meds 210. Very reasonable for an emergency visit thanks for the fast action and quality care. Thank you so much.
Drove from Joplin after calling them to be told to go home and put the bunny I rescued back in the wild to let him die. It had a paw injury. This was the only place open. My regular vet isnt open on weekends. If I can keep the little guy alive until Monday thats where he is going.
We have used this clinic many many times over the years, Monday March 7 2021 we had to rush one of the fur kids running a fever and had an allergic reaction in the throat in. The Reception person was HORRIBLE RUDE referee to my little dog as THE ANIMAL. Then could NOT get the details of what was going on correct, I repeated several times, then ask for another person . I was afraid his throat might close up while we were waiting. They took him back and 4 hours later I hear from a vet to approve the tests she wanted to do....4 HOURS, no one had seen him. 2 more hours before he was released . Was right at an hours before I got him I went and stood by window and everyone I could see was standing around EATING PIZZA. We had seen 2 pizza deliveries in the time we sat in the parking lot.Next morn I was getting ready to give him the Benadryl recommended by vet when I noticed the amount wrote down vs the amount wrote on my bottle from my regular vet was more than double. So I called and the kid got all flustered and couldn’t even answer my question. It wasn’t just us two other pet owners went in and demanded their pets back after sitting for 5 hours. The guy in the truck next to me was calling the police when they finally brought his dog out, with out doing anything. He said they demanded 400.00 for doing nothing other than taking his dog in in a stretcher .Oddly my bill was 375.00 after getting estimate of 250. Which the only thing they added on after the estimate was novox and cerinia.I’ll NEVER BE BACK.
I called this place because it was on our veterinarians answering machine for emergencies. Something happened to our dog and he is acting very weird, foaming at the mouth, whimpering. He has been fine all afternoon and this started maybe a minute after I got home. We are worried and all she said is this is for emergencies only.
My neighbor took her dog here last night with a broken leg. They told her they had sent the images to her vet. Her vet never received the images. There was no attachment on the email. Seriously? You had ONE JOB!
They told my friend her dog was fine and sent him home with a jaw that was broken in 3 places but telling us hes fine and we shouldnt worry they are the worst emergency vet i have ever went to and sadly the only one in Springfield dont recommend ever taking animals there they wont help CLEARLY and now reading everyone elses horrible experiences i now know for the future...
On Saturday 11/7 we took our cat in, he was very obviously sick and a true emergency situation. They looked at him, acted like it was no big deal that his gums were gray and he was completely lethargic and sent us to our car to fill out a form to get in line. We waited an hour after filling the form out and as our little guy started to become less responsive my wife called our normal vet to see if there was anyway at all they could see us. Unfortunately he was unable to but did call the clinic manager and told him we had a real emergency. They had us in pretty quick after that phone call, but unfortunately they were unable to save him. This is where my real frustration and anger begin as I know he was probably not going to make it regardless of how long they made us wait. They called my wife and very robotically told her he was going to need to be euthanized. Then when we went in to be with him while they did it the only thing they would talk about was money and cost. I would have paid them anything to save him and had made that clear, but now before letting us see him in his final moments they wanted to make sure we had the money to pay. When they brought him in we were told we could have as much time as we wanted with him, but it was still very rushed. We let them know we were ready and my wife held him as the vet injected him. She gave my wife little warning at how fast it would be, he was gone within seconds. They again left us alone for a few minutes before coming back in and speed rushing through the options for his little body.It really felt like they only cared about the money and not the fact that we had just unexpectedly lost our little guy. They came across as very unsympathetic. They called us last night to let us know how remains were ready to be picked up. I went over and called from the parking lot to see what I needed to do, the woman on the phone was hesitant when I told her I was there to pick him up. When I went into the lobby the woman working there also seemed to not know what to do.All in all the experience was very negative and not just because of what we were going through but how it was handled.
I found a stray kitten that had been hit by a car late at night and took him here. They were very helpful and professional. I was sent home with thorough instructions and pain medication. The doctor was very helpful and I trusted her to take good care of the kitten who has made a good recovery. For all that they did for him I felt the price was very reasonable. I asked that they treat him for worms and fleas and do a feline leukemia test so I could safely take him home and have him around my own pets. My new cat is very happy with the care he received and so am I.
The Veterinarians around where I live would not allow us to be there there when we had our dogs euthanized. Ive lost my 2 senior dogs to cancer in the past 3 months. The Emergency Vet Clinic allowed myself and my son to be there in their final moments. I would NEVER just drive off and leave my animal to pass away without my being there to comfort them. The employees are so caring and for that, Im very grateful!
My 12 year old dog suddenly got sick. He was throwing up and couldn’t even hold himself up. I laid in the backseat with him and had to hold his head up or it would just flop down. We thought we’d lose him. We rushed him to the Emergency Vet. These people kept him over the weekend and somehow managed to save him. He does have three organs shutting down and he is old, so we know his days are likely limited, but for now, he is back to his regular self, thanks to the ER Vet! They took such great care of him and we could call anytime during the night for updates on our baby. So thankful for them for saving his life!
My daughter and I were simply amazed by this veterinary clinic last night. The staff and doctor were wonderful. Our dog has a very special situation that most vets in town cant help with or wont. They took her right away at 2:30 in the morning with a life or death situation for our Nillie and immediately took care of her. The doctor and staff were so nice and so comforting for nillie and us. Thank you so much for being true veterinarians and taking care of a sick dog when she needed help. You are a true blessing to us and we are so grateful.
They have always been prompt and very kind when I have gone here. Once my dog needed a very basic service, and they did not even charge me for it.
The staff is extremely compassionate and caring. On both times that I have been here they worked with me to meet my needs. Not at all expensive especially for an Emergency Clinic. I would highly recommend this facility.
This was probably the worst vet experience of my life. I arrived at 9:45 pm and am currently writing this at 12:26pm waiting on my animal. They will not let me come get my animal until an estimate was made. We only came in because we called and the lady said they could get our dog pain meds for the week after she ran out from her surgery. She made it sound like it was gonna be a painless The dr told me that was not the case and she won’t be prescribing any meds, so my 2 hour wait was $80 and they did nothing for what I came in for. I will never be returning and I’d suggest waiting and going to your normal vet unless it’s an extreme emergency.
My senior Great Dane hasnt been feeling well and so we took him here last night to get answers as I was afraid he wouldnt make it to his appointment later in the week. I could not have been more pleased with the care and compassion my pup received by the doctor on duty and her staff. They did everything they could til we got an answer. While his prognosis from his visit was heavy hearted, I have my answers and can move forward with his care. I highly recommend this facility.
My sweet 4 week foster kitten was bitten by my foster Great Dane. It was completely my fault for not watching. We took Maximus to Emergency Vet. This my second time here and both times this office was nonjudgmental, professional and very clear the going home instructions. Thank you guys for treating my fur baby like family.
Best and worst place I have ever worked at. The whole staff is so incredibly rude and inappropriate to their coworkers and clients. I was supposed to get two to three weeks of training, instead I got a day and a half. Then magically got three write ups within one shift and got fired over a text message. They still til this day haven’t explained a thing on why I was fired and never game me the HR number. Worked there for almost three months. Worst place!
I brought my pitbull here for an injured toe, everything was decently priced and everyone was super kind. They were professional and gentle with her. She is a well taken care of pup.
Dr. Katlin Hornig, technicians, and assistants were all very nice and attentive to us during a scary time with our sweet cat. During COVID it is curbside service only (which was really hard to not be with our sweet cat); but, they called us on the phone to discuss exam findings, treatment options, and status throughout procedure. Very thankful for this staff that works over night to ensure our fur babies are cared for. Thank you for your kindness and care to our sweet Jack cat.
I was calling for my elder dad about his dog,the woman who answered the phone was extremely RUDE!!!! She told me that he needed to call and she couldnt tell me anything, since she clearly is miserable with her job and helping people and animals she should find somewhere else to work!
All I can say is Im so thankful for them. My Akita Midnight was having a long seizure, and as always they are so nice and helpful. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all you all do.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!This vet charged 500 dollars before they would even start care for Buddy who had been in a fight and was tore up pretty bad. They said he needed surgery and they would start it as soon as we paid the 500. The next morning they called saying they couldnt do the surgery do to swelling and tore tissue. Then said we could pick him up for 30 more dollars. When we got there with the money they told us it would be even more. And they recommended we take him to an ordinary vet whos pricing was cheaper for overnight care. So basically for our almost 700 dollars buddy got pain meds and a small wrap around his ankle. While we were scrambling to scrap together more money to get him back out of the vet, they threatened to charge us with neglect if we could not pay the price. I would give this vet absolutely no stars. Dont put your family members through this😭😭
I took in a kitty that I rescued a couple of days ago who has been having incontinence issues. I was really scared there might be something majorly wrong. The staff was friendly and the visit was faster than I expected. They sent me home with medicine, special food, and written instructions. The cost turned out to be less than I was expecting as well. All around great experience.
This is an amazing service. Most of the negative reviews here are because people didn’t want to pay, left against medical advice, etc. This is like an emergency room, it will cost you more than going to the normal doctor and you are going to have to wait, sometimes for a couple of hours, to get in if there are other people in front of you. In addition to that they will do everything they absolutely can for you and your animal but will likely give you a referral to another veterinarian for follow up or further treatment—also like an emergency room. Please don’t be upset that they’re literally just doing their jobs. They are also professionals, they likely know more about your pet than you do so please listen to them.I called around 10:20pm on a Friday night to ask if they treated reptiles (they do!) and to ask about my crested gecko that had blood with his stool. They told me to bring him in, so I pulled up around 10:40, filled out the paperwork and waited in my car until they called me saying a room was ready. I waited for about an hour which was not bad at all considering how busy they were! The staff were nothing but kind, informative and compassionate. My gecko is jumpy and hard to handle, but they were so gentle with him! The main vet that night introduced herself to me but I unfortunately can’t remember her name. She was so kind and reassured me that since he passed some stool while we were there he would be okay. They ended up not having to do any large procedures and did not charge me a dime for seeing them. Even if I had to pay an exam fee I would have gladly done so because the care we received was so great. This is a great place to go when you need help in the middle of the night or on the weekend. Thank you so much EVC!
This clinic’s current COVID-19 policy requires waiting outside the door until the staff opens the door for you to enter. We waited our turn outside the building tonight in 18 degree weather, when two people with pets walked in front of us saying they were told to come right in since their cases were emergencies. Their foyer is quite a large space, and after waiting outside for twenty five minutes I opened the door and asked if I could step inside to wait our turn, and without inquiring about our visit, I was told to wait outside. After a thirty minute wait, we left, very cold, dog still in distress, and greatly disappointed.
