We recently moved to Springfield from Texas and needed to establish a new vet. If youve had pets for a while, you know this is as traumatic as finding a new doctor for yourself! Dr. Holbrook and Capitol Illini were highly recommended by a colleague. They were phenomenal. We have 2 senior dogs - one who is very shy and one who is very loud. They handled them both with love and care and put everyone (including the nervous fur mama) at ease. I would recommend them to anyone.

We have a 4lb yorkie who is 17 months old. Our veterinarian who is very skilled and qualified, was not comfortable spaying such a small dog. (She personally reached out and spoke with Dr. Christina Holbrook who is her friend.) We had a consultation with Dr. Holbrook and the surgery was scheduled. Unfortunately our girl fell into the 2% category who had a reaction to the anesthesia and the procedure was aborted. Dr. Holbrook spoke with us and advised that she would do some research to find a different drug cocktail which would possibly be better suited to our dogs’ system needs. Surgery was then rescheduled for July. The procedure went perfectly and our little girl came thru with flying colors. Dr. Holbrook was very attentive to our concerns and personally reached out to us the day of the unsuccessful attempt and again after the successful surgery. (She also personally phoned and responded to a couple questions we had prior to the day of surgery.) The vet techs who readied our dog each time were assuring and we felt she was in great hands. The office staff are patient and professional and all of them work to provide quality care. Although we will be returning to our vet for her routine care, we would not hesitate to utilize this clinic in the future should our circumstances change. We HIGHLY recommend Dr. Christina Holbrook and thank her and all of her staff for taking such wonderful care of our baby.

Originally my dog started going to Capitol Illini because Dr Holbrook is an orthopedic specialist. She started having other issues and now sees Dr Armour as well. Both women are extremely kind, helpful and thorough. They take the time to listen to me and answer all of my questions.

I love Dr. Wisdom even though she wasnt a permanent staff at Capitol Illini. I could ask her anything and she answered directly. Rosie kitty loved her too.

Prices are absolutely way too high. I have worked at multiple vet clinics and I have never seen prices like theirs. The techs do not do their own fecals? So you have to pay outrageous prices to have them sent to a lab which almost triples the price of what a tech could do it for. I had to call for the results, they were in but apparently a tech could not give me the results or go over treatment. What do the techs do here? Of course the doctor wasnt available and even though I asked for a call back I still didnt get one until the next day. Over all not impressed with their knowledge of bearded dragon care and will not be returning.

The vets are very good with your pet. You can always get an appointment usually the same day.

They are wonderful people, from the receptionists to the veterinarians. You can see that they truly care about animals and do their best to help them. I feel my cats are in good hands whenever we visit.

Capitol Illini and Dr. Christina Holbrook are some of the best!! The care Brooklyn received before, during and after her surgery from Dr. Holbrook and her staff, I can’t thank them enough!! Dr. Holbrook was so wonderful, besides being a top notch vet. she is also so caring and compassionate, she made me feel at ease even in such a tough situation. I have brought my 16-year-old kitty with kidney disease here twice now. Everyone has been really nice to me, and to him. I have been really impressed with Dr Antonini. He has taken quite a bit of time to talk with me, and, unlike some vets, is not patronizing. He has gone over and above by reading through the notes from our previous vet, trying to figure out how and why the kitty came down with this. I can’t recommend this practice enough!

Great service. My doctor was personable even only being over the phone and seemed really interested in giving me the best treatments for everything. Overall great experience even as a roadside pick up for a pet. Doobie(my cat) came back seeming untouched and unbothered by the experience.

We have been using Capitol Illini since we got our lab/collie mix when she was 1. She’s going on 6 years old and is as healthy as an ox. Always friendly and professional even in COVID times and very safe. Always has everything in house needed for routine yearly visits and can almost always make an urgent appointment the same day or next day for acute problems. They routinely call to check up on the dog after a visit as well. Would highly recommend!

The staff at Capitol Illini Vet Clinic are amazing! They were willing to help answer a multitude questions that I had and were as patient as could be. I had to drive about 4 hours to get to the clinic so they were incredibly instrumental in assisting me on what I needed to know and have before embarking on the journey. The knowledge and experience that they have in incredibly evident!Upon arrival, we were greeted at the door and they were very welcoming to us. I have been taking our cats to Capitol Illini Vetrenary Clinic since we moved to Springfield 4 years ago. The location is very convenient as well as the hours they are open.All the doctors are very caring to the cats. They have helped when they are sick, as well as keeping them healthy with checkups, teeth cleaning and diagnostics.They have the ability to do all kinds of care, but dont mind if you need to just get the minimum.I absolutely recommend taking your cat to them.

Our guinea pig started having some issues. Capitol Illini got us in to see the vet quickly. From the original call to leaving after seeing the vet was beyond professional. The whole staff was very caring. I’m very happy to have a local vet for our piggies and one we trust.

After having a bad experience with another vet, I took my cat here and it didn’t even take 10 minutes for Dr. Holbrook to find out what was wrong with him. Everyone was so nice and helpful I’m glad I took my cat to this vet it was worth every penny!

Highly Impressed with Dr. Holbrook and the staff at this facility. Dr. Holbrook came outside and did the orthopedic exam for my dogs hip dysplasia with me. All of the staff were very knowledgeable and made sure I had all questions and concerns answered as it was a lot of information to process. They are very attentive to your pets needs and it’s clear how much they love their animals. I will be moving all of my dog and cats veterinary care to Capitol Illini!

My boyfriend has used Capitol Illini for years and turned me on to the clinic after we met. Dr. Armour has gone above and beyond for us for so many years now, I cannot say thank you enough. They were so friendly and knowledgeable there. Our Boston Terrier was quite at ease when she got there, and was treated like she was a real important item. i would highly recommend this vet, and will be returning.

I’ve taken pit bull mixes to this location (2019) to see Dr. Shores for accupunture and Lazer. He was extremely personable and respectful. One of the dogs is slow to get to know others and he took care with handling her. They both loved the peanut butter and the care they received. I’ve also taken my bunny here to see Dr. Armour. You can tell she cares deeply for her patients and very knowledgeable. She’s not afraid to give you her suggestions on how to improve your exotics care. She sees almost anything except birds. I would argue the prices are a tad expensive but I would also argue their professionalism is worth their time.

Capital Illini is exceptional!!! I absolutely LOVE Dr. Armour. She is so personable and shows true passion and love for my fur family. Her expertise and knowledge. She goes above and beyond her role as a veterinarian... Dr. Armour would personally call me to let me know how my dog was doing after surgery and consistently keep me updated and informed with phone calls or texts (even if it was after business hours). Very impressed and so blessed to call Capital Illini our home.

My dog Pippin went into anaphylactic shock and they got me in and gave him everything he needed to be better. Was incredibly scary situation that was made better by the care he received ❤️

My experience was phenomenal. Dr. Armour really went above and beyond for Bugz. I’m so thankful that she was there through this scary time! I appreciate everyone at Capital Illini and I am so thankful that my baby is feeling better. I have a year and a half year old Mini Lop who stopped eating, pooping and drinking and I truly believe that she literally saved his life. He is improving so much everyday.

The veterinarians at Capitol Illini have been caring for my animals for years. I currently have two mini Schnauzers who have had multiple problems over the nine years I’ve had them. Dr. Armor has been their treating physician from the beginning. She is so sweet and caring with them and always gets to the root of the problem very quickly. In addition, she has a way of calming and relaxing a very nervous pet mommy. She listens to you and works to find a solution. For example, at my request, she worked with the board to extend promotional periods on their Care card, lessening the financial stress of getting the necessary treatments for my girls. She is the best! The whole staff is very knowledgeable and kind with the animals. I highly recommend the clinic and feel confident that any animal will get top notch care.

They were so patient and good with my stubborn, cranky dog. She is nervous and afraid of getting her nails trimmed and they were so kind and understanding. They were very professional and accommodating to me as well. They explained all procedures and charges beforehand which I appreciated. We found a new place to take our Rotties!

House rabbit people, this is your place. I was nervous I wouldnt find decent care for my elderly bun when I moved to Springfield, but Dr. Armour is fantastic. She took enough time to explain everything to me, and she didnt try reducing Derbys treatment to the palliative care a lot of vets would offer once they heard his age. She even provided fresh hay from her farm when he got finicky about the pet store stuff. My darling bunny is no longer with us, but he lived to a ripe 12.5 years of age, and we are so grateful for Capitol Illinis role in giving him the life his wonderful self deserved.

The staff here are fantastic. They make our pups comfortable enough to drag us to the door when we get there. They always do a thorough exam and answer any questions we have. They do their best to keep costs reasonable while giving the needed care.

My 6 dogs all see Dr Holbrook at Capitol Illini in Springfield, and there are not enough words to describe how wonderful she is as a veterinarian and how boundless her compassion is. Everyone at the clinic is outstanding and they always go the extra mile to make sure everything is right.

All of the staff at Capitol Illini are great and very nice! My cats normal vet recommended Capital Illini to me after my 18 year old cat started having problems requiring more specialized care. I could not be anymore thankful for the care provided by Dr. Holbrook and Andrew! They are simply the best!!

Dr. Shores and the staff at Capitol Illini are excellent- they answer all of our questions, discuss all the options and provide alternatives, and really listen to my concerns. Scheduling appointments is incredibly easy with the app, and when I call with a serious need they are always able to get me in. Services are reasonably priced, too. Its a great vet clinic that is very responsive and treats my pets well!

Capitol Illini got my puppy in right away in an emergency situation without having her on record, and I’m grateful. As a person requiring a wheelchair for mobility, I greatly appreciate their user-friendly accommodations; it makes me feel like they welcome my business by making it easier to navigate the parking lot and facility while wheelchair-bound.

Dr. Armour and the entire staff are knowledgeable, kind, patient, and welcoming. We originally sought them out as we needed a vet for our exotics, and the care they gave our mouse was excellent— we now take all of our pets here. I feel safe and confident having them in Dr. Armour’s care.

We usually see Dr. Armour and find her to be caring, compassionate and understanding toward our cats and their care, both preventative and healing. The various assistants we see are also caring and respectful of us and our animals. The facility is always clean and neat, with informative literature and displays in the lobby. Being a cat lover, I really appreciate their cat-friendly designation.

We are very happy with the service we get at Capitol Illini Vet. They get you in to see the Dr as soon as possible usually the same day you call. Both vets we have had there have been very friendly and very good with us and our dogs. The receptionists are nice and helpful and the assistants and techs are friendly and helpful too.

We absolutely love everything about Capitol Illini - both Chatham and Springfield locations. Weve been taking our dogs here for well over 11 years and I would never consider taking them anywhere else. Every single doctor and person working there is so kind and they take such good care of our pups. I dont know what Id do without them!

If you have any exotic animals, such as rabbits, ferrets, or reptiles, Dr. Armour is the only vet in town I would recommend anyone go to. It may be slightly more expensive, but it is 100% worth having an actual expert take care of your animals. Ive witnessed her literally save animals lives.

I was very fortunate to have Dr. Colleen Helgen as the vet for my two 14-year-old cats, Stripes and Nani Girl, who I brought with me when I relocated to Springfield for a job. The entire staff is efficient and pleasant--from the receptionist to the tech assistants to the vet. They were always accommodating in trying to find appointments that would fit my schedule and always treated me and my kitties with interest and empathy. I highly recommend Illini Vet Clinic.

Love you guys!!!!! I have had all my animals with you guys. The vets are all top rate and so are all the techs, assistants and office help! They give you that personal treatment that makes you and your pet feel like you are truly loved. I had to put my baby down after 13 years last year and Dr. McCall and Makayla stayed way past closing hours and held my had until I got the strength to let my Dippy go. There are no words to describe how I appreciated the extra TLC. Top notch place and crew!!!! Far more then 5 stars!!!

We have always found that when you walk in the door and are greeted by the receptionist(s), until you see the veterinarian, that all personnel are courteous, kind, efficient, empathetic, and knowledgeable. They are all trained to know the latest techniques and treatments available. They also understand the bond and love between a pet parent and their pet, as well as the value of community outreach to improve knowledge and care of pets. They are a 10-star provider!!

The technical staff is very knowledgable and take great care to express their observations and recommendations in clear and understandable terms to clients. The admin staff is very friendly, polite, and efficient. In addition, this is the cleanest veterinary facility we ever seen.

Just took my kitten for his very first vet appointment and we were so happy with Capitol Illini. Dr. Holbrook and Ashley took great care of my kitten and were very attentive and positive. I could tell everyone working there really loves animals. My initial visit was expensive but worth every penny.

With a severe kidney infection, Theo was literally on the verge of kidney failure. All the folks at Capital Illini were great and treated me and my pet like family. I could not have asked for better veterinary care. I truly feel that due to the outstanding care and the expertise of all the folks at Capital Illini, if it were not for them, my pet would not have survived and my heart would now be broken. Dr. McCall is everything you want your veterinarian to be. I needed to find a new vet, which was rushed when my dog had a seizure. My previous vet referred me to Capitol Illini, so my first visit to the clinic and with Dr. McCall was under scary, emergency conditions, and i left knowing my dog and I were in great hands, and that my family and pets would be returning here from now on. Its such a great feeling to find a thoughtful, detailed, and easy to work with care provider!

The doctors and staff at Capitol Illini are great! Dr. Holbrook takes such good care of our dog with his allergies and orthopedic needs. She keeps up on the latest treatments for his conditions and recommends treatments that work for him but are right for our budget.

Winnie, our little chug, had a difficult and challenging lux patella surgery July 1, 2019. Dr. Holbrook did an exceptional job, along with The Ortho Assistant, Andrew. Both have all the characteristics every Animal owner could want in an Ortho Surgeon and assistant. Phenomenal skill/knowledge, passion and compassion for our fur babies and their Fur Parents, Best communication skills I have ever encountered and very patient! She always has a Plan A, B and C and is very accessible ! The entire facility is super clean and the entire front staff are warm and welcoming. My words alone cannot describe what a Top Notch Facility and staff they are. Illinois Animal Lovers are so very fortunate to have Capitol Illini Vet Hospital/Clinic available to them! I would gladly travel hundreds of miles for them to care for my pet.

I was visiting Springfield from out of town and needed to see a vet. I chose Capitol Illini based on its great reviews and AAHA certification. They were wonderful! My 75-pound mastiff mix has a lot of nervousness and anxiety with vet visits. The entire staff was friendly and understanding of my dogs issue and worked patiently with me. They practice fear-free exams, where the work is done with the owner rather than taking your pet to a back room. Although my dog was still nervous, there was an obvious improvement in just one visit. If Im ever in the area again, Ill come back here!
