Called for an emergency about my dog, was very upset, and when asking me questions he decided to be rude and instead of helping, he decided to take his time to make me feel dumb when providing him with answers of my dog. Would not recommend for anyone who cares for their pet and needs urgent care and answers.
All the Vets are so knowledgeable. I would rather bring my diabetic cat here than my own vet anyday. They have literally saved his life 3 times when my vet just sent him home to get worse. So much peace of mind having this wonderful facility for our beloved family members!!!
We took our 4 year old cat here to be put down after she lost drastic amounts of weight, wouldnt eat, and had blood in her urine. They refused to put her down because of how young she was. We had to watch her suffer for 3 full days until we could get her into a different vet. They found a lump in her abdomen which turned out to be cancer. If the vet would have put her down when we asked, it would have saved her a whole lot of suffering. Instead they acted like we just wanted to put her down for the fun of it. I will never take another animal to this place again emergency or not. If you want someone to actually listen to your concerns, save yourself some heartache and choose a different place to go.
Called every clinic around our hometown and surrounding areas. We apparently don’t offer 24 hour emergencies near here anymore. Just as we thought we were at a loss and our kitty would be in pain screaming through the weekend, this amazing emergency clinic answered our phone call right away.I debated waiting until our vet opens on Monday since it would be a long trip late at night, but my boyfriend knew it would be worth the drive after hearing the care and concern of the gentleman on the phone and insisted we get him to aid. When we got there, they offered curbside service. (which was great since our little one was asleep) The service took MAYBE 20 minutes for a pain injection, X-ray and immediate care. They copied the X-ray on a CD and faxed all the information to our local vet for Monday. The sweet doctor walked out in the snow and cold with her tablet. She was so compassionate and was able to show us the X-ray image right outside our car window. Pain meds for kitties are so hard to get and expensive. They supplied us with 2 kinds and gave us thorough directions on how to administer the syringes and keep our kitty comfortable. Figured it would be a thousand dollar visit at least. It was only a small cut. Cheaper than a checkup/X-ray in our hometown during daytime week hours! Couldn’t be happier with the care we received as we get our boy on the road to recovery. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
Thank you for saving sabastions life you all did a great job!
I called at 6 am and the phone was promptly answered. I explained what I thought was my dogs problem and they said no problem to bring him in. They did immediately tell me that the service was more expensive before 8am and left it to me to decide when to take him. I feel bad I have no idea the tech or vets name that took care of my 14 year old Brutus but they both were very compassionate and caring for him as well as me when I had to decide what to do. They offered to let me come in and be with him but I opted to let them handle their job without a bawling woman to deal with. I would recommend this clinic any day.
My poor little 11 week old puppy was taken here late at night because he was not eating or drinking and his heart was racing. They did a whole bunch of tests on him and still had no answer as to what was really going on. Well I was told to bring him back the next day is his symptoms did not improve so I did and when I took him there they asked me why I didn’t just take him to his regular vet etc. well they put him on oxygen because his breathing was very fast and told me he was improving so much through the night and everything. He ended up passing away within 20 minutes of leaving the clinic with him. I truly think this place is a huge reason why my little guy passed because when I read the actual reports it was completely different from what they had told me. The bill ended up being $1400 because of everything they wanted to do when the report said he had very little chance of surviving from the first night he was seen. I asked about putting him down because he was in so much pain and everything and they told me not to and that he would be fine but clearly the reports said other wise! They basically try to rob you of your money! DO MOT TAKE ANY PET HERE because if you do they will probably not survive. I read the received before hand and it made me uneasy and I did it anyway because I couldn’t find anywhere else to take my puppy and because I figured some people just have bad experiences! I wish I would have listened to the reviews because if I did my dog would probably still be alive!
My poor pup was severely Miss diagnosed by this JOKE of a animal hospital. My dog almost went blind in it’s eye due to following the after visit care recommended.I’m so glad that I followed up with a REAL VET instead of following up here.
When an accident happens to your pet around the house after hours, this clinic takes walk-ins 24-7. Your regular vet is wonderful of course but cannot be on call for every client all the time. We have driven 35 miles to get here on several occasions (one dog, one cat) and it was worth the trip for the assurance that we did what was reasonable for a companion in crisis. [Covid era note -- we had to wait outside while pet was attended to, just as required by our regular vet.]
We have taken our wonderful super senior cat here multiple times. They are kind, helpful, and informative. On one occasion they even saved his life. Sadly, on this last visit they werent able to.Despite covid, we were allowed inside to be with our 17 year old boy for his last moments. They gave us as much time as we needed and helped us through the decision itself. The doctor that helped us had to stay past the time she was supposed to be off but didnt make us feel like a burden or inconvenience. We were sent a very nice sympathy card signed by the staff. We are very grateful for the work you all do and even moreso for your kindness. Thank you.
I want to take a moment to thank Dr Erica and the team at AEC for the way they cared for our golden {Macy} and the way Dr Erica delivered the news to us that Macy was not well. Dr E was kind, caring, empathetic, clear and direct about what we inevitably will need to do for Macy. Our family is grateful for the care they provided Macy last night and the way that they all helped us through this challenging time.
Super helpful. Go out of their way to help you understand the situation and make things go smoother. Helps more than any vet office Ive had animals at.
Prompt, caring and awesome staff. Very reasonable. Dr Erica was excellent! She was very thorough and not only calmed Winnie down, but calmed us tremendously! As a side note—-ALWAYS check before closing one’s recliner. We were lucky to have an ER within 30 minutes of our home. Highly Recommend this facility!
I have worked in vet clinics all over the Midwest and have yet to encounter one as unprofessional as this one. I even got attitude when I called in to ask to speak to someone. They have zero clue what a behavior issue means and put all blame on the owner. I wouldn’t even trust them to give my animals a vaccine.
Guido had a rough weekend. But definitely in a better place thanks to AEC. Love you all.
My wife and I Recently put our kitten down. It was a very emergent situation that we did not see coming. The vet tech was very helpful on the phone and also once we arrived at 230 am. The professionalisms the tech and vet displayed was during a difficult time was top notch. I will always remember them going above and beyond during such a difficult time.
DO NOT TAKE YOU PET HERE if you want to see them alive in the morning this is the second time I took a puppy here against my better judgment and have had the same out come paid almost 300$ just for them to inject my puppies with something and have them dead in the morning this place needs to be shiny down immediately we need to take action
Dog was having acute pancreatitis. They pumped him full of some drugs and sent him home. The normal protocol would have been to keep him on treatment for 4+ days under very close observation, not 3 hours. Because of Covid the doctor would only meet over the telephone which made it hard to ask questions (most other vets are open up, not still restricted). After the quick turnaround he died in less than 24 hours.Wish to God Id driven him to the Illinois Vet School in Urbana, now the house is so very empty.
After seeing my 10 year old beagle go downhill with a total obstruction due to a tumor and after much discussion with my family, it was time to take him in for euthanasia. It was 2 in the morning when he was going downhill, and I called the Animal Emergency Clinic. The staff was so helpful and told me they could help. Upon arriving, I was promptly greeted. The staff and vet were so helpful. REMEMBER: this was 2:30 in the morning. Dr. Fox made the process easier than I could have ever imagined; he and the staff were a true blessing. He kept me informed about how the process works, what I could expect to see, etc. (anticipatory guidance). He gave my dad and I as much time as we wanted to say goodbye to our forever friend. When it was time, the process was so smooth and calm. My old boy is in a better place now, and the staff and vet were the best. Thank you so much for making the dying of a pet the easiest process it can be. Beyond thankful for Animal Emergency Clinic on Wabash.
We couldnt have asked for more a caring and compassionate staff in such a hard time. They even stayed late so we could say our final goodbyes to our best friend. They never rushed us with any of it. I wish they could be our regular veterinarian! Thank you for all your kind words to help.us get through such a rough time!
Our family has needed to use this Clinic on a few different occasions for our family dogs. In one instance we had to make a very difficult decision to have our ailing dog euthanized after he suddenly became very ill . The staff at this Clinic is very professional, but also caring and compassionate. I would recommend this facility to anyone who has an emergency situation with their family pet.
If you have an animal emergency. Come here. I speak from too much experience and I can safely say they are my #1 choice from all the places I have lived and gone to.Ive been here twice. Id prefer to have never been here for an emergency, but dogs dont listen, and accidents dont limit themselves to puppy-pads sadly.I took in our poor puppy when shed hurt herself and they were incredibly kind and accommodating to our young pup, we were in and out in record time, and as far as the bill goes? I honestly cant complain, the amount I paid would have been the same rate had I paid to go to the vet.The second time, and arguably the most miserable one for me, was when I brought in our oldest dog-she was howling, disoriented, weak, unable to eat, old, and it was sadly her time. The vet looked her over spoke with us about her condition and explained to us that it might be best to put our dog down. We were given plenty of time in the quiet of the room to pet our beloved baby one last time. We said our tear filled goodbyes for what must have been hours before finally agreeing to the decisions. They came in, comforted us, comforted our baby, and it all ended in a few short minutes. We were given time to grieve in the room and offered comfort. They kindly took our beloved Akitas paw-print and set it aside for us.
My older dog hurt his leg severely tonight, so I rushed him to this clinic in a total panic. As soon as we walked in, someone attended to us right away. From the very beginning I was impressed with every staff member I dealt with tonight. From the excellent communication as I sat in the waiting room, to the detailed explanation of his injury, and the patience and compassion in dealing with a hysteric pet lover, they all made a scary experience much easier to deal with. Having just moved to town, I am so relieved to find emergency pet care of such great quality. Thank you.
So said to hear about he negative reviews because people dont have money. It is an ER clinic working when no other clinics are open. It cost money and not subsidies by any government programs. These people have family and their own lives to pay for so dont judge them for wanted paid for their services and understand after hours care cost more. This place does a wonder job and does not get the respect they deserve. Were is the outcry for human medicine that cost 100X more but yet it has become acceptable. God bless you and everything you do.
Ive taken my cats there on three separate occasions and always received prompt, knowledgeable, and considerate service. My pets health is worth a bit of a price tag, if the alternative means no one being available to attend to their health needs beyond the weekday regular hours of most clinics. Dont get me wrong- I hope I dont have to go back, but if something were to arise.. wouldnt hesitate.
Our 10 yr old black/ dark brown lab collapsed at Pet Smart after being in for his routine grooming. He was initially seen by Dr Shores at Banfield and then transferred to your emergency clinic. Bear was in grave condition In shock, with unsure cause. From the moment we arrived we and Bear were treated with respect and Bear was given outstanding care. The vet Techs and Dr Nick. Were so kind and compassionate to our pet. Bear had not been sick so his grave condition was very hard for us to deal with. Bear was taken to emergency surgery to try to save his life but his liver was bleeding so badly that he could not be saved. He had a form a cancer that did not give us any warning until too late.. Our beloved Bear crossed that Rainbow Bridge around 10:30 on Dec 23. We were heart broken, but the staff and Dr Nick were so kind and compassionate, we will never forget their care. Thank you so very much for all you did !Ginny n Bob Long and all of Bears family
Outstanding experience. The vet explained everything that was wrong with our dog and told us everything we needed to do to help her get better. They faxed all of our dogs info to our vet so the info would be there and our vet would know exactly what was going on. Extremely nice and caring people.
Everyone there was nice when my poor pupper was sideswiped by a car. They thoroughly examined him and treated him well. Once money came up they were rude. The young lady from the night I was there was sweet, sympathetic, and understanding. Granted I was a mess and couldnt stop shaking. She softened the blow with the first half of the bill as a deposit and explained that they needed it immediately. If it werent for one of my best friends there I wouldnt have been able to drop that amount. He stayed a couple nights and I was told over the phone to come get him by 7:30am because the close. As much as I understand, but they didnt say I had to pay the rest of the bill off when I was picking him up. Just that I had to come get him. The older lady this time was very rude. She scoffed when I didnt get approved for the credit thing and was legit agitated when I said I dont have an extra $600 just laying around. She snapped that it had to be paid within 90 days or its going to collections. I let her know that itd more than likely be paid within the first 20 days. I just dont have it today. She rolled her eyes and said shell go get my dog. She handed me the iv bag and gave me no further instructions. I told them what vet to send the paperwork to, but they didnt give me anything else on what to do, what I should look for, or anything really. I could feel her just eyeing me to get out since I didnt have the money. With that said. The place is overall a good place to take your pet in an emergency, but dont expect all the employees to treat you with the same respect that other employees did. The first woman and vet were amazing. They were understanding, sympathetic, and just sweet. The woman when I went to pick him up was just plain rude and honestly I dont feel like picking a fight there. I just wanted my dog and to get him more of the treatment he needs.UPDATE: My pupper is doing just fine. Hes recovered well and is back to being his old self. Once again I appreciate them taking care of him in the emergency, but they were rude and downright spiteful upon pickup.
We had to take our dog in for an emergency visit less than a week ago. His condition was very serious and we were very upset. The vet and technician where gentle with him, and with us. They worked quickly to try to figure out what was wrong to the best of their ability and it was determined by our vet just a few hours later that the diagnosis at the emergency clinic was 100% correct. The visit was expensive (we expected that); however, without their services we would have had to wait over two hours for our vet to open and to get some answers.
Very helpful and surprisingly affordable for after hours visits. Willingness to consult you via the phone free of charge shows they truly care for animals and people as well.
My daughter took her 13 year old Labrador in at 3:am while having a seizurethey said he looked high from marijuana.was that profiling the young adult??After the blood test came back negative and they didnt find nothing wrong with him, told her go to her regular vet.Never even tryed to apologize for the personal diagnoses. How many dogs come in looking high in that place at 3am????
We brought our dog in on Labor Day after he ingested a dangerous amount of something he should not have. Dr. McClimon and his staff were so kind and supportive and put us at ease as they assessed him and talked to us about what to expect. We really appreciate the care he was given and are so grateful that our boy is still with us today!
We had to call to get an update from them They really did not provide any new information and Im not sure why our vet recommended this place our cat did not survive and they should have told us this from the start that there was no chance
Our Buddy that we were blessed to have live with our family for 16 years the staff and Dr. Shores were simply wonderful with us and in the final hours of his life. We will be forever grateful!
Staff was very nice and caring. Very good at keeping my cat calm even through her pain.
I called to see if I could get help with a newborn kitten, I didnt have the money with just starting a new job. So I asked if I could drop it off and if they could care for the dying kitten, they told me they take no drop offs, and they can do nothing but euthanize it. This is not a place that cares for animals, they would at least try to help if they did. If possible I wouldnt give any stars. I got a half ass sorry from the receptionist, never will I ever recommend this clinic. Id rather make the drive to someone reputable who actually cares for the well being of animals and not just lining their pockets.
My dog became very ill on a Saturday and I was unable to take her to the regular vet. I was nervous to take her somewhere new but the staff at the Emergency Clinic treated my girl and her very freaked out owner with kindness. Dr. Fox and the staff were very gentle with Gizmo and did everything they could for her. I will be forever grateful.
Dr Sarah and staff great during the loss of my 2 week old Frenchie.. took the rest of litter next day to be sure ok. Dr Sarahs advice seems to be working. Feeling hopeful!! These three seem to be thriving again!
My husband and I are from the Springfield area but currently live in South Korea with the military. In Korea, the language barrier is already incredibly frustrating. Add an emergency and it is downright terrifying. Our dog ate a bottle of supplement pills on a Sunday afternoon here (about 2 am in Illinois) and we wanted to speak with an English-speaking vet to figure out if we needed to take our dog to an emergency clinic. When I called the after-hours number at our previous state side vet for advice and explained our situation, I was told by the operator that because we were no longer clients, they would not be able to give me medical advice because I wouldn’t be able to be billed for it. I asked her if there was anything that could be done, and was offered the number to an emergency animal hospital then disconnected (whether hung up on, I do not know). I then called the Animal Emergency Clinic practically in tears and was treated with kindness, respect and concern. The gentleman I spoke with was very professional, understanding, kept me on the line the entire time (as opposed to just telling me, “we’ll call you back.”), offered me the ASPCA Poison Control number for the future and even told me that if we ever need to call for pet medical advice while overseas to just call them directly. It was a complete 180-degree experience. I would not hesitate again to call them for advice and was blown away by the difference.
I took my dog who ripped out stitches, great service. Had used before when my bulldog swallowed two trible hooks, always great service.
HORRIBLE! Do NOT take your animals here. At least not if they are sick and need to be euthanized. We took our 1 year old cat here a few nights ago. He was so very sick, couldnt eat, drink, lethargic and we knew already what was wrong because we had this happen to our cats sister. So already we knew he would need to be put to sleep. These people, knowing full well that my mother (the cats owner) could not afford much right at that moment. Knew how much this poor animal was suffering right in front of them. Yet they tell her it will be $250 to euthanize and cremate him!! without cremation, $105.00! this was a 9 LB cat! totally ridiculous amount. Aside from that they absolutely refused to help this animal until they were paid half of that..Told her she would have to take and drop him off at animal control! now what kind of person who works in a field which is there to help animals, seriously tells a person that?!? that poor guy would have been put in a cage, and suffered horribly until he finally died of starvation/dehydration most likely since he couldnt eat or drink. They wouldnt have gotten to him for months, or I dont know how long. We did not allow them to cremate him. One because of the ridiculous price and also because we did not want to leave him in their hands! the hospital manager did try and speak with us and has asked us to come talk to them in person. That is beside the point. I cant speak on all the veterinarians and staff there, but there should not be ANY there that are that uncaring towards these animals. this was done by Annie Saunders and Sahar Moskop(Sarah) there was ONE DVM there that was caring and sympathetic, or at least seemed to be. that was Bailey Davis.
Dr. Annie Saunders and the staff here were all very wonderful. They went beyond to do what they could for our Pomeranian his name Kokomoe Kirkwood. His condition was not fixable yet it hurt deeply to loose him. Our special thanks to again to Animal Emergency clinic of Springfield IL, The Kirkwood Family
My poor Zoey got ran over by a car so I brought her to the vet .They didnt take any X-rays or anything !! Told me she would be fine They sent her home with anti inflammatory and pain meds. Only for her to pass away 4 days later!! I told them something wasnt right with her and they said no its just swelling shell be fine LIARS!!
Took my daughters new pit bull Jax to this clinic very late on a Sunday night and he was diagnosed with Parvo. We saw McClimon that night & he was awesome. Had real concern and care towards our Jax. The next week while recovering from Parvo, he developed a cough so we took him back. This time we saw the vet Stanberry. She was very distant, and was just overall uncaring. We werent even put in an exam room when she did minimal testing on him and the only thing she could tell us was that his cough was not kennel cough, gave us antibiotics and sent us on our way. While the antibiotics seem to be working on him, our 6 yr old pit/black lab has now developed this same cough, while no other signs of ill health. My concern is the lack of cleanliness that I observed during my second trip to this clinic. We observed them removing one dog from an exam room only to leave it unattended and unsanitary when they immediately put a cat into that same room with not an ounce of sanitation being done. There was animal hair all over the outer perimeter of the exam rooms and there was lord only knows what kind of fluids dried to the lobby floors that look like they had been there well over 48 hours. I can not say for certain that our dog Jax picked something up during his first visit to this clinic because he was already sick and we still have not found out what this cough is actually from, but from the looks of the unsanitary lobby floor and the noticing of the animal hair being built up around the building and exam rooms and lack of sanitation between patients, I would venture to say We are not the first ones to notice this or have the concern that our puppy picked this up there and we infected our other dog by not knowing...
Wont even bother with some pets, even if they have the means to. Whats the point in having this place if everyone is booked and they all refer you here?
