Cliff is the man, he hooked me up ON HIS DAY OFF because I had to have my haircut before flying out for a business trip. The haircut was awesome too, he had great attention to detail and really took his time. Especially with it being his day off I was impressed on how well he took care of my hair. Ive taken both my boys(12&15) to Nick for several appointments(I schedule a day or two out). He has corrected difficult issues and works w my picky kids. The shop has a fun vibe yet professional mannerisms. Prices are amazing. I drive from the Valley to Hillyard because its worth my time. All I can say is I wish I found this place sooner!I have been looking for a good barbershop for awhile and had been going to the barbers on Sharp and Ruby but had been disappointed by the results. After trying The Yard out, I never looked back.Cliff is the absolute man! Methodical, funny, and seems genuinely interested in you as a person. He fixed me up perfectly for graduation and I got numerous compliments on my cut.I highly recommend going here if you want a great cut, for a great price, and excellent service. Looking forward to coming back here when I visit Spokane.

The only reason I didnt go back to the Yard was because I had to move home last minute back to the east coast. I never got to tell Cliff this, but his cuts and service were the best I ever received at a barber. As a member of the LGBT community, my partner and I oftentimes have a hard time finding anyone willing to cut our hair the way we want because we are female/sometimes perceived as female. Cliff never had a problem, never judged, and always made us feel welcome. His work is impeccable and his attention to detail is truly amazing. Theres nowhere else in Spokane I would recommend aside from this shop. Thanks Cliff, keep up the amazing work!

Amazed by our experience! I took my 7 year old son into there last minute. He has lots of hair and we were unsure of what we wanted. Cliff was super helpful, and patient, he talked with my son about anything and everything which kept him entertained! At the end of our service, he gave us a discount when the service was already perfect!! We will be returning. And I definitely reccomend this place.

Ive had my hair cut here twice. The first time was great, the barber listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly but the second time was a different story with a different person. The guy looked at the reference picture for about 10 seconds, and then picked up a good piece of my hair and choped away without taking two seconds to look at my hair, brush through it, or get it wet. The first cut ruined everything. He cut a little longer and then stopped and asked me what happened to my hair in the front where he had JUST CUT IT. I couldnt believe he actually chopped a chunk out and then tried to say it was already like that! My girlfriend watched him cut it. He cut my hair much shorter than I requested and it isnt the way I asked. I had a bad feeling becuase one of the other barbers asked the guy if he could do it and he said he could. All Im saying is, do a guy a favor and be honest. If you arent confident in what youre doing dont take a chance on somebodys hair.

I get my hair colored and cut there all the time. I am 50+ and have been treated vary well and always received good service. Never left unhappy. The teachers help the students always understand what they are expected to do. The teachers always check the students work when they are done. The color has always been prefect and the cut done well also. I think of myself as someone that has always taken care of my hair so quality matters. There are a lot of young adult students what I still call kids so expect some drama. But havent really experienced that much. I gladly give Total Cosmetology 5 stars. Having recently moved this place made me feel right at home. Barbers were all cool, atmosphere was chill and felt welcoming. It was like I have been there 100 times. Dont have to review any more barbers in Spokane, I found my spot.

This is now a premiere billiard room here in Spokane. Legacy has 16 top quality Diamond tables and is run by a great guy, Steve Rijon. He has done a great job with the 7th Rail and with the addition of Legacy, has 2 of the best places to play pool in Spokane. We are all looking forward to Legacys grand opening once the liquor license comes through. The wings are incredible too...

I honestly think The Yard is the best place for ya to get faded or whatever it is that you want done to hair. They take their time they leave no lines in your head and they are all artists and use your head to create yet another master piece. So the one bad review is done by a guy who kicked me out of his parking lot when I had a flat tire because he had a delivery truck coming in in 10 min but my repair guy was on his way in 5 and we were done in less than 10. So dont believe his hype come check it out for yourself you will not be disappointed.

This is the best I’ve ever looked, I got my hair cut for my wedding and I trust only them. I trust them with my hair, I trust them with my wife, I trust them with my life.

A few years ago they used to be good but now just talking to them they sound uneducated, let you leave unhappy, and over priced for such a crappy job. I gave them 2 chances and both times I had to go somewhere else to have it fixed. Save your money and stay away from such horrible trainers including the owner. Ill never go back!!!!! Trust me dont do it. Have your friend do your hair if you really need a touch up!!!!

The best barber in Spokane!

Some of the staff was great and had good customer service, how ever i am in total disappointment. I went to get my hair colored (granted i was a walk in.) and despite being busy they squeezed me in, for that i was pleased. How ever the lady who began to bleach my hair, got the bleach in my ears on my neck and even in my shirt. I have no idea how but she managed to. Not only did she get the bleach all over me but she left in the middle of it. Didnt tell any of her co workers or even her boss. So i was left with bleach in my hair. How ever as soon as the boss lady noticed my hair dresser missing she jumped on top of the situation and got me a new dresser. With her i was pleased she was friendly and took great care in how she handled my hair. The initial color came out well how ever once it dried it was clear that parts of it had been missed so, i have bleached hair exposed through my coloring. This leads me to be disappointed, as now i have to go back or else where to fix the situation. I really dont wish to pay again as i feel its unnecessary. At this point im very frustrated with my hair and the way it came out. To be honest i feel as if it is damaged now due to the bleach. I do understand the color i had prior didnt want to come out but nearly two hours of bleach in my hair i felt was maybe far to long. Now as for my mothers hair dresser i give five stars. She did an amazing job and it looks amazing and i am very pleased with how she cared for and tended for my mother during her visit. She came out happy and feeling good about her self. For that i am very pleased. Honestly i have no intentions to go back as a customer myself, even to get the mistake fixed. I personally give it a star. But for my mother and the service she received i give two. In total three as you see. Ha that rhymed.

As always a disclaimer : this is from personal experience. This is a little late in coming.I was extremely disappointed in my education at total. I feel that I wasted time and money while attending this school. Honestly learned more on youtube, and books.The lack of management skills and professionalism from staff is extremely disappointing. The handling of financial aid was very poor as well.As for the actual building, the school itself is in a decent size space but the lack of general maintenance is disgusting. Looking dirty is a pretty bad way to be, there also paint coming of the walls, as well as water marks. Making it very embarrassing to bring clients into. Also daily sanitation is very poor and not fully enforced.In a whole in my experience with class work was very little management of curriculum is done, half the time the one that was suppose to teach us didnt know what was next. I ended up having to do a bunch of stuff that was suppose to be in theory a week before graduation, even though I kept asking about it but got the response you have to wait for theory. Very nerve racking to pop out test after test, just so you can take your final then hope you pass it because you dont really have the time left to do it over.I would suggest really checking out your options, I mean really checking them out. If you dont mind the grime and just want very basic of basic education that most of what you will learn is from doing research on your own then go for it. If your alright with just spending time there for the hours more power to you but if your want a education you can actually expand on with opportunities find a better school.Side note: There was a couple of teachers while I was there that were good at what they do, but the environment and nonprofessional Owner and lack of a schedule from curriculum ruins it. Also I do like the one fact of allowing a make up day (Monday) that is very generous.

I have been going to this school for quit some time and the last time I went it was a very bad experience. I had gone to go get my hair done with my grandma and the lady Linda looked at the book and said their was nobody to do our hair then she turn around and said someone could do my grandmas which was fine except she was rude about it and she was their from 9 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon can someone please tell me why someone with hair maybe 2 inches long was there all day and then the lady who did her hair got dye all over her shirt and ruined her clothes how do you ruin someones clothes when their hair is extremely short. Linda told me to come back in the afternoon and someone could do my hair well I was picking up my kids and I said no its okay I dont want my kids to have to wait for me to be done and she said oh its fine go ahead and bring them it will be okay. SO I come back with my kids and my mom who was waiting for my grandma because she thought she would be done by then and she wasnt so I said are you sure you want to do my hair today and Linda was like oh yea your fine. Well I go back there to have my hair done and I guess my baby was crying because she is teething and Linda tells my mom that she has customers and this is a place of business and that she needed to leave with kids because I was going to be here a while. SO when my mom asked if she could tell me she was leaving Linda wouldnt let her come back and tell me. So I asked the lady who was doing my hair when she was finished putting in the foils to go see if my mom was okay because I wasnt allowed to go out in the lobby and she came back and said there wasnt any kids in the lobby, that the lobby was empty so I freaked out and I start digging in my purse looking for my phone to call my mom and be like um where did you take my kids and why didnt you tell me so I call her and she tells me that Linda told her to leave because this is a place of business and it is not meant for children. so I told my mom that i was going to have them rinse out my hair and i was going to leave and my mom convinced me to stay and finish my hair because I was suppose to get a hair too and that grandma still wasnt done. So I left the foils in and then Linda comes over to me while I was under the hair dryer and says they dont have time for a hair cut and I needed to get out. SO the girl rinsed my hair and the whole time she was like god I cant wait to get out of her and go home and smoke some weed and I was just kinda like wow. I know its legal and everything but if this is a place of business then that shouldnt be said to customers. when she finished rinsing my hair she dried me off and said okay you can go and I had hair dye on face on my fore head and I asked if she would wipe it off and she goes if you want off you can buy a bottle of hair dye remover and do it your self. So i just let it alone and when I got home my kids asked me why they were told to leave and I didnt even know what to say because i was just heartbroken that they heard Linda tell my mom to take them home and it wasnt a place for them. I go look at my grandmas hair and she has hair dye all over the side of her face and neck and she tells me they ruined her shirt which I dont understand if the lady wasnt paying attention. I understand that some place arent for children but how can you say that when a barber was just cutting a little boys hair talk about double standards, and then tell me their isnt anyone to do my hair when I look in the back and your students are doing nothing but sitting on their asses talking and listening to music okay maybe you shouldnt be a business. I called and talked to the manager and all they could say was ill talk to that student and I, sorry we ruined your clothes but it happens. it shouldnt happen when you have a cape on or a towel. total cosmetology is not a business i would recommend to anyone they are beyond rude and unprofessional and i believe they should go out of business or be shutdown or Linda should be fired.

They butchered my sons hair!..took over an hour by a man who clearly had no license or even a inclination of how to cut hair.very disappointing..they might do a good fade but dont ask for a trim.

If youre going anywhere other than The Yard Barber you are wasting your time. Cliff killed it on the cut. Wont ever be going back to the man shop where they just turn and burn clientele. The Yard Barber is the place to be.

Went in for a cut and color and even with the instructor helping with my hair it came out just about as far from what Id asked for as possible. Not happy.
