My girlfriend and I lived here just shy of two years. We enjoyed our time there, and would have continued to live there had we stayed in Spokane. Any issue that may have arisen, were quickly addressed by Phoenix. I certainly appreciated his willingness to always meet with me in person, to discuss any issue, big or small. Overall, the apartments were great. But what set the complex apart, and why I would recommend them, was definitely the management team.
Me and my wife have lived here since July, and we absolutely love the place. The apartment space is cozy (1 bed, 1 bath), the view is gorgeous, and its honestly a pretty quite place to live. Weve experienced no issues since moving in, and the majority of people Ive interacted with (from a safe distance) have been incredibly friendly; Phoenix and Sara are also super kind, and made moving in incredibly painless. Plus, youre right across the street from the plaza, and theres a huge area for people to walk/jog right next to the apartments. Only complaint is parking, but its pretty minor in comparison to everything else.
These apartments are very enticing at first sight, and for the first month or so it was an overall good experience. However a few months in the problems others were complaining about became more obvious. To start I called the office and emailed them about a broken faucet and a door hinge on the fridge that was broken. Took almost 7 days to get an email back for service and another whole day for the guy to even show up. He fixed the faucet in a timely manner but when I asked him to have a look at the fridge door he decided to blame it on the fact I had “too many items in the fridge” and just left. I emailed again to have them come back and never got a response. A couple months later I was woken up at 730 am by a tow truck outside my apartment getting ready to tow my car that had literally been parked at the complex for 5-6 months with no issues. I called the office and they told me that my vehicle was unrecognized because there was no parking pass... I told him we were never issued a pass on move in and I specifically had asked if there was any type of pass for parking, I was told no. When I told them that I didn’t receive one I was told I had misplaced it and that I would need to pay a replacement fee when I never received one in the first place! I don’t know if this very poor lack of communication on move in was due to it being COVID or if they are normally like this but I’ll just say there was more than just 1 or 2 little miscommunications with this office on move in day.Was also told that my lease was up on a given date and given another date a month later. Overall I’d say to stay away from this place unless you are willing to deal with all sorts of hidden fees and Runarounds with management here. Isn’t my first time dealing with Douglas properties but it will definitely be my last!
Very disappointed with the Lusitanos and move out experience. First, the apartment itself was clean and beautiful and great location to live in, but the experience when we moved out was not great. We moved out during covid, so we never got a proper walk though and they were supposed to call us with anything that we may be charged for. We never got a phone call, and then we’re charged an outrageously expensive bill for stuff that was taken care of. Once we finally got a hold of them they were able to take away a number of things that weren’t supposed to be on there which was good but were still left with a big sum to pay. We paid a large sum in the beginning of the service that was supposed to cover our basic cleaning and maintenance move out costs but what does that even cover? They rail you with service fees, bills from outside lenders that “supposingly” did service in our apartment, when they never left an invoice or notice of entering when they did, “if” they did. In the end I feel like we overpaid and got charged for things that we weren’t supposed to pay for. Frustrated and will not recommend.
Ive been here for about 7 months, and so far it has been great. To be honest, Im probably the noisiest person in the complex(I love listening to Music). Otherwise, the most you hear are the cars that are coming and going. Management has been great, and things have gotten fixed in a timely manner.
I am very happy living in the Lusitano Apartments. It’s clean, safe, and well maintained The managers are kind, always respond in a timely fashion and take care of whatever needs to be fixed or taken care of. I love my building because people are quiet and friendly. The ceilings are all 9 feet which is very nice because the apartment feels spacious. The location is also very convenient (grocery store, bank, gas, car wash, coffee, parks, library, good schools, and 20 minutes from downtown. I highly recommend this place.
I have now lived here 3 months, and this community is wonderful. Very quiet, with occasionally hearing someone talking. But everyone is very respectful come night time. This is a clean neighborhood, so aesthetically it is please. Apartments inside are very simple, but have all essentials. Any repair order goes through within days. Both managers are amazing and very fun to talk to.
I have been living here for a little over 3 years now and really love it. The management is great and so friendly and know me by name which is awesome. Any time I have had issues with anything in my apartment either the managers or the maintenance crew have been able to fix it right away. I use the clubhouse every month and every time it is ready for me to use it. My friends that join me each month just love the place and how nice it is. I like that when you are having a problem with your neighbors and you arent able to fix it that you just mention it to our managers and they take care of it. I would recommend this complex to any of my friends.
The Lusitano is a great place to live— clean and quiet and friendly. The staff go out of their way to welcome and help residents. I do wish it was easier to get to know other residents, but that might be due to my own temperament. The pool helps because people spend time there in the summer. No problems.
I live in building A apt. 100. David and Heather are the managers. They are always prompt and respond with a willing attitude whenever I have need for anything to be done or have a question. I was a home owner so did not know what to expect as a renter. I have lived here for three years and have never seen the grounds as well kept. John is such a hard worker. He has to ride the bus, but is always out there rain or shine. I do miss my yard so appreciate the work being done. You have, in my opinion, three capable and skilled employees. I would hope that you find ways to show your appreciation for all that they do for your company. I find living here very pleasant and hope to be here as long as I am able. Sincerely, Beverly Newell
We recently moved into the Lusitano Apartments. From start to finish they made us feel very welcome here. The communication throughout the entire process was excellent. The office staff kept us informed of each step in the application process. Its a great quiet location close to parks and awesome schools! And having a starbucks across the street is a huge plus!
I have lived at the Lusitano for a year now. The staff is very understanding and friendly. They deal with all problems with grace and always do wonderful with protocol. I have referred several of my friends to live here because I trust Douglass Properties in general. Nice and quiet and have lovely neighbors.
Very nice
We’ve had a very pleasant experience living at Lusitano for the past year. The managers are wonderful, and respond to any maintaince requests extremely quickly. They’re also very personable and easy to talk to! The landscaping is kept beautifully and very clean. Never have had any noise issues with neighbors. Definitely a great apartment to live in!
Great People! Amazing staff! My drone was blown away by wind to the apartment territory, and it was returned to me the same day!Thank you
We have been living in the Lusitano Apartments for over 1.5 years now, and enjoyed every second of it. The managers ladies are amazing - very friendly and helpful. If we ever needed anything fixed, it was fixed promptly. We never had any trouble with the management, or the neighbors. I would recommend this place to anyone!
There is no parking unless you want to park at Albertsons. Douglas properties is only interested in getting as much money from you as possible. They will also tow cars parked in back where they say to park extra cars. Even when you have given them the license plate number. DONT BOTHER!!!!
Heather has been so nice and she helped us find an apartment right away. We love the neighborhood! Its beautiful.
Noise complaints go unheard, office staff heather & david will smile & lie at the same time to your face & tell you anything to get you to sign a lease, huge electric bills, filthy apartment moving in, looks like a nice area to live but its a high crime area & garages constantly getting broken into & they could care less. Paper thin walls & neighbors flushing their toilet sounds like a tornado going through the walls waking you up, cant wait til my lease is over so I can move! Dont let the nice exterior fool you, living here is a nightmare.
Very nice, quiet apartments. Reasonably priced. Nice pool area but no playground for kids.
The above person probably is a family member that is living in these apartments or part of the management. We have been living here for 9 months. The second our lease is up we are gone. We have had the worst time here. There is not enough parking for any of the tenants and now they have decided to tow those who park on the fence when there is no parking. We find it to be very unsafe for our family. The management is well I would never say great nor fine maybe lower then fine. The biggest issue is that they care about the money and thats about it. You should really think three times before you ever rent from these apartments or Douglass properties in general.
The office gave me a call to enter my apartment and I answered the phone quickly and over heard one of them talking badly about my mom and I who have lived here for 3 years. The conversation would have gone a lot smoother if she had not been talking badly about the person she was calling (me). I can not wait to move out of these apartments. VERY dissapointed. I would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone I know. Plus parking sucks. My mom will be staying but I hope she finds a better living space.
Very quiet, private, apartments with beautiful grounds keeping. Loved their pool and recreation room! Management is friendly, easy-going, and always helpful!! I accidentally left my car in a snow-covered handicap parking spot, and Heather was gracious enough not to tow or ticket me while I was gone for Christmas vacation. These apartments come with a reserved garage each -- ask about getting an garage attached to your apartment if available (dont leave your garage door open! sensitive garage door openers). Albertsons, Starbucks, and Rite Aid are right across the street. These apartments are cheaper than a lot of the other Douglass properties in town and in the Valley because they are currently enjoying a period of lower property taxes. Rent may go up in the next year or so! (2019 or beyond -- the 2 bed 2 baths are the best deal per square footage!!) Also, NONrefundable cleaning deposit is an additional $500 before first rent, but you dont have to do any cleaning when you move out.I will say, watch out for issues with the dryer getting clogged. Maintenance is not able to properly unclog drier vents on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Also I was unclear whether they are pet friendly...? Management told me no pets allowed, but I saw several dog owners around the complex.
CASH COW. Thats all you are to Douglass Properties. The Lusitano touts itself as a luxury community, but it has no parking. You will pay luxury-community rent and you or your roomie will have to park outside the luxury community on the city streets and walk to your overpriced apartment. Tow trucks are here constantly. The girls working in the office are nice enough, but they are forced to nickle and dime every single resident by the Douglass clan, whos motto is that any resident can be replaced.Cheaply built place. Smokers moved in and now my luxury apartment reeks of second-hand smoke.
The price of the apartments are not worth the quality of living, we had a pet that tore the carpet up down to the concrete where we found hundreds and thousands of ants living under our carpet. I would NOT recommend living here.
Insufficient parking space for residents and visitors. Your car can be towed at night - while youre asleep. On August 26th 2016, many residents and visitors woke to find their cars have been towed overnight.
ExpensiveNot enough parking spacesThey towed my car for not having resident parking which was not issued to me when I moved in. Had to go through so much trouble and pay $500 to get it out. Thats craziness. No warning. Came out one morning To go to work and car was gone!
Great apartment complex!
Daughter lives there, and loves it.
I like this place but they need some monitors out side, Ive had a car stolen, and because some of the garage door openers can open other doors that when it happened I had some tools stolen out of my garage, that hurt.
Noise complaints go unpunished, neighbors next door have loud parties three times a week up until 2am and ive called the cops multiply times and the landlord says my hands are tied.
