One of the best places to live.I moved there from SD in 2007 and they were great then and plan to move back again.
Have lived at this complex for almost six months now. We found multiple things broken that still hasn’t been fixed still to this day. We have no ac, no screen in our window, bathroom fans are broken and more. All things from before we moved in. They try to use covid as an excuse to for not being able to fix these things when I myself can go buy the screen from Home Depot. They also don’t care about noise complaints and the neighbors will be loud at all hours. Do not apply here I learned my lesson and will be dipping out once my lease is up.
Office was quick to respond to emails but were INCREDIBLY slow to take action. Also, parking was absolutely horrible. People would make up their own spots or block garages. When they plowed, you may have to dig yourself out or not park in your garage for a bit. Our heating bill was super high and it was still supper cold in the winters. Fireplaces didnt do anything for heat. It was better to close it up than use it if you didnt want to maintain it all the time. We had several neighbors who would smoke weed and it would come in through the vents. Only positive thing is it was fairly quiet. You couldnt hear the neighbors a whole lot. Also it was in a nice area to walk the dogs. Oh and people left dog poop all the time and the office threatened to charge all the dog owners.
Giving a 4 star just because parking was a huge issue & very crowded. Both of our cars got broken into & some stuff got stolen, so whatever you do, DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR! I realize that management can’t do much about that, but they did have the area patrolled, unfortunately it wasn’t for long. Maybe they could put up some security cameras? Other than that I did have a great experience. No slumlords here, they really respect tenants’ rights.
If you are looking for an apartment, this is a great place for adults, a little more difficult if you have small children. We have lived in a variety of apartments in Spokane County and around the country, and have even managed some. We truly enjoy living here. Ready access for wherever you work, the rents are reasonable, and although parking is tight we rented a garage for the most reasonable price we have ever seen and that took care of ever having a parking problem and kept our car safe. We have always found maintenance readily available and appreciate that upgrades are being done to the apartments. Having the washer and dryer in our apartment and the large square footage and two bathrooms in a two bedroom is quite wonderful. We qualified for subsidized housing, and though the rents were comparable to what we have here, the apartments were smaller and we had to go to a laundry room. The manager, Felicia, has always been very courteous and friendly and has sponsored multiple informal complex gatherings. We would highly recommend living in this very pet friendly complex, with easy access to hiking, biking, and golf, away from the hubbub of the city.
Rent can be paid multiple ways. Easy to get a hold of the office if you need to. Never had any problems
We have lived here for years, the staff has been amazing to work with. Any time we needed anything done they got it done in a great timely fashion.Having children and pets has never been an issue here in regards to the management, only with other tenants. Like everywhere you have those who feel they above the rules and don’t have to kee their dogs on leashes or clean up after them, however management tries to be fair and hold those accountable without being mean.Felicia is great, she is fair, respectful and amazing with kids.
Nice.
Thank you for your feedback. Indian Canyon and Beringer Properties provide units that are rent ready upon move in. To ensure that units are left the way they are found we use condition check in forms. The check in form from your unit had all good marks checked with no problems. Unfortunately when you moved out the carpet was 100% saturated with cat or dog urine and no cleaning was done. I am sure anyone can understand why damages were charged. Please stop by the office to see the photos that were taken as proof of damages.Indian Canyon Management
My wife and I lived there for about a year and it was a pleasant experience. Management was great and maintenance responded quickly to whatever problems we had. Only minor issue we had was parking was a bit crowded at times, but management got a parking pass solution going not long before we left.
Nice apartments they have a pool..landscape guy dose a phenomenal job place looks great
I moved into a McCathren Management property, Indian Canyon, in February 2016 when I first moved to Spokane. It was one of the only apartments I could find. Living there was fine. There was a lot of turnover with the staff but no huge complaints. I moved from a three bedroom to a two bedroom when my lease was up. They claimed there was a pet smell (I have a cat, though I had cleaned thoroughly) and charged me a cleaning fee from my security deposit. Fine. I got the rest of the deposit back. Living in the two bedroom was much worse. I originally liked the complex because it was quiet. There were constantly people running up and down the stairs outside of my apartment, yelling, etc. The location was convenient for my job and I liked the amenities, so I tolerated it until my lease ended. I moved out because I wanted to downsize further and they didnt have a one bedroom available initially (later they did and offered it to me, but I had already found something else). When I got a letter with my security deposit information, I was expecting a small check, as I assumed they had used maybe half of my $700 deposit for a cleaning fee. Instead, they took my whole $700 deposit and charged me $1500 on top of it. Theyre saying they HAD to replace the downstairs carpet (around 600 square feet of some cheap polyester material) due to pet smells and claim it cost $2200. I have quotes from contractors showing how exorbitant this is. They also appear to have written $1200 and crossed it out and changed it to $2200, which is suspect. They charged me for things like $25 to clean a toilet, while I have pictures of the toilets being spotless. I spent many days cleaning that apartment. Im guessing the carpet did not need replaced and was not new when I moved in. IF it needed replaced, it was probably due to water damage; a contractor flooded the carpet while I lived there because they used a faulty spigot outside of my apartment, something the company never bothered to fix. They never showed me any evidence that the carpet needed replaced, no proof of the age of the carpet, no invoice for the cost of replacing it. I had heard they nickel and dime you on your security deposit when you move out, but a charge that is nearly two months rent for something they only charged me a small fee for a year prior? It doesnt add up. I sent a dispute letter via certified mail and fax after consulting a lawyer at the end of April. I never received a response from McCathren. Today, July 16, nearly 3 months later, I received a call from a debt collector. I am prepared to fight this predatory charge. I was the ideal tenant and had a friendly working relationship with those in the front office; they still did this to me. I would not recommend renting from McCathren Management to anyone.
I filled out credit application and received a call from the office asking what size apartment I was looking for. Let them know that a one or two bedroom would be fine. I was told that a two bedroom town home was going to be avalible. I asked if I could see the townhome on Monday as I would be making the trip from Auburn Washington 280 miles one way and did not want to make the drive if something was not avalible. She told me it was avalible to look at. When I arrived at 9:30 this morning I was told that the two bedroom townhome was not avalible but I could look at a three bedroom instead. What a waste of my time and money. I am now out the application fee and 120.00 in gas and 9 hours of driving-560 miles...Shame on me for trusting the staff when they told me they had townhouse and apartment avalible.
Ineffective Management, limited parking, in addition to pet feces. Get familiar with work in progress and read your Lease!
Great manger great place
Horrible parking. Snow maintanence was not very good. When they were showing our apartment they gave us a 5 minute warning before bringing people in, overall I was not very impressed.
