I reserved Standard Sized SUV online with Expedia. Once I arrived to pick it up the next morning, the entire checkout process was 10 minutes or less.It was 15 minutes into my trip when the Tire Pressure Warning Indicator popped up on the dash for one of the tires. Before I got to my first destination which took an additional 15 minutes, the Master Warning Light also came on.I took it back to the center for a replacement at my first opportunity a couple hours later, but they had no cars and no one to look at it. They referred to Midas where I could have it looked At for free.It took approximately 3 hours for them to look at the vehicle. All of the tires were nearly bald, with one of them losing air. They recommended I not drive it at all. They never got to the dash warning lights.They called Budget about the issue and I went back to them.Ali the representative upgraded me to a larger SUV for the inconvenience.Im happy of the end result bit disappointed it took a large portion of my day to fix the issueAttached a picture of the rear tire that was leaking. The first SUV was not safe to drive.
I rented a car for 5 weeks at just under $300/week from Budgets Southfield location. When I went to pick it up, I was rushed through the process, told the car was waiting for me and running and I should just get in and go. Sure enough, it was running with its nose in the traffic lane and the driver door open so I jumped in and drove off. Less than a mile away, I turned back as the gas tank was totally empty, the car filthy, the seats stained with God knows what. The heap had over 40,000 miles on it. They replaced it with a more acceptable car. At the end of the 5 weeks I returned the car and paid my bill and left. However, Budget billed my credit card for an additional $1,300, a few days prior to my returning this car. I disputed this amount with my credit card company and they never heard back from Budget at all so they credited my account. Next, Budget sends me a bill TO A RELATIVES HOUSE, claiming my credit card was not honored. I have no idea how they associated me with that address. Needless to say, the dispute continues. AVOID THIS PLACE.

Went into this car rental place to return this car they stated that because I was 3 minutes late to return the car they would charge me for the full day rental.
Very unprofessional the car had no gas and was on a flat. I went one block turn around they closed up so I had to drive to the airport to exchange the car. I will never get a car from budget again. The airport car haf smell that would not go away the brakes started grinding and it had 50,000 miles on it.

I WILL NEVER BE BACK!!!! I came here once and was unapologetically given a dirty vehicle. When I came again, they didnt have any cars even for customers who had made reservations. They let us stand in line for awhile before finally telling us this. No apology, no alternative, NOTHING!! I then called customer service to see if another store would honor the reservation. After waiting on hold over ten minutes, the lady (with her baby in the background) says yes, another store would indeed honor the reservation. I drove 4 cities over to a different location only to be told that they cant honor my previous reservation. I ended up paying more and again UNAPOLOGETICALLY!! Even when some things dont go the way a customer expects, a simple apology goes a long way. The fact that no one was accommodating was disappointing. I since have been going to Enterprise and I am more than happy there. Ive received free upgrades and better service. I WONT be going back to Avis/Budget!!! #atyourownrisk
The worst and the most nasty place to pick up a rental car that represents AVIS & BUDGET, from the location that looks abandoned to the service you get, to the car that you are picking up its just a nasty operation..I got a KIA SORENTO that had a very strong odor of marijuana, that even I finished almost one spray of Lysol and drove to Chicago after next day still remained strong, very dirty inside. Absolutely disgusting !

Yes Im done with budget I rented a car from them in Detroit and they had the nerve to charge me $120 a day for a mid-size car as long as Ive been renting from budget they never played me like that and did a $250 deposit I never have to put down a deposit the car was very dirty scratched all up like sideswipe it was crazy I couldnt believe it the car wasnt worth maybe $40 a day honestly but then the things you go through when you go out of town

Rude and terrible service! We booked a full size car and they gave us an only option for a smaller car which was not clean, had some mechanical issues and smelled of cigarettes. Since we are non-smokers, we couldnt tolerate it and given no options of a different car, were not able to use this car. I would definitely not recommend this location to anyone, if there are other better options available.
The staff there are so friendly and very helpful. Ive had a few rentals from them and I must say they are very accommodating, i had a flat and they provided me with another vehicle as soon as a arrived.
The car reeked of cigarette smoke and was extremely dirty on the inside. They offered us $2 for a car wash and an air freshener. Worse service ever!

Not extremely happy. Reserved a truck with deposit for Friday morning locally. They did not have it. Finally picked up a truck at 5pm that was 30 miles away. Purchased rental for 2 days. Did not realize truck was due back in 43 hours not 48. Had to return it Saturday night not Sunday at 5pm. Will have to rent a new truck again next weekend to finish my move.
The gentleman and the lady that worked in the office were so patient, understanding, and loving, it made me and my families tough week of dealing the a funeral easy. No hassles. No outputting attitudes, just A1 service with a smile and patience. I appreciate the Southfield location.
The first car given to me was dirty inside and outside. The guy told me that since the car was older with a lot of miles, it is expected to look like that. He then took it to the back and RINSED the outside, nothing done to the interior. I asked was he going to do a thorough cleaning for the interior due to Covid-19, he said it was clean. They offered me another vehicle, which he said was the only vehicle available. This vehicle’s front bumper was hanging off and tons of scratches and dents. I brought it to his attention and he told me I didn’t have to worry about that. I was very disappointed that Budget have a branch like this in its name.
The vehicle I rented smelled like Marijuana and cigarettes. It had front end damage and rear end damage.

Rented the car for a day after I dropped off my car at Mr Mechanic down then road (highly recommended). When returning the car there were about 8 people waiting in line (during Covid pandemic). Man behind the counter offered to take my keys for the return if I didn’t need a receipt. With everyone in line and the building I accepted. They kept the rental active for an extra day and charged me double what my rental should have cost. Emailed budget with my mechanics receipt including drop off and pick up times but as it wasn’t flight information they refuse to adjust the charges. This is a local car rental branch obviously I wasn’t taking a flight. Will never use them again. Will walk across the street to the enterprise.
I would not recommend this location at all. The staff was very rude to customers. I had a reservation made for two weeks and when I arrived I was told there were no cars available. I was told to wait and then two people that came in after me received vehicles and I was skipped over. The vehicle I received was nor cleaned out in the inside and had old food left in the vehicle and was not properly cleaned considering covid19. I witnessed the staff be rude and refused to give rentals to customers and actually attempt to take a rental car back after a customer spoke up and said the service was unprofessional. I will never ever rent from budget at least not this one and I will not recommend any one to go here. Very horrible and unprofessional experience.

Car charger didn’t work nor the USB ports on a 9 hour trip. They only had 1 suv with a light on on the dash board so I didn’t feel safe driving that vehicle. Had to get a smaller suv for the same price and then for the car charger or usb not to work!!! I will never ever go with budget again. Worst car rental experience ever!!!
I made my reservation over a week prior to my trip. The style of vehicle I requested was not available. The vehicle I was given had way less trunk space than I needed then it took over an hour for them to get me that vehicle. This made me late for my appointment which in turn made me late getting on the road. Because of this I was unable to return the car on time and was charged for an additional day. I will never book with Budget again.
Cars were filthy and smelly. They offered us three different cars. Finally settled on the 3rd as we were in a time crunch, but it had obviously not been cleaned since last use. Budget offered for us to trade at another facility, which was helpful.

This is the worst company ever. They gave me the complete run around about my 100.00 deposits to get my vehicle off the lot. They gave me 3 dates and still nothing. I depended on that 100.00. Then when I tried to speak to someone in customer service they were also rude and disrespectful. They wouldn’t even talk to me just held the phone
The location was dirty, the staff was lounging in lawn chairs outside of the establishment upon arrival, staff was deceitful with the vehicle in its class. I rented an elite SUV and he gave me a standard SUV stating he did not have a Ford Explorer but did not tell me he was down sizing the vehicle he provided me. And the vehicle was dirty inside and out. With the pandemic it was totally unacceptable.
The Southfield location is horrible
They dont have a specific amount for your deposit or total. They charge random amounts at any given time during your rental. They charge you to extend your rental. Terrible customer service.
Issues with first car. Delayed my departure time until the next day. Charged $65 for time that was given because of first car issues....

Its very bad business, so bad that I felt the need to take the time and write this review. Because I for sure am not getting my money back. Be warned. The guy working the counter notified me that he was the owner when I asked who else could help me resolve my issue, very racist and unprofessional. Turned me away, angrily, with no sign of provocation. When initially asked for help, he laughed at me, the customer.
Absolutely horrendous service. Do NOT recommend. I rented a truck and trailer. Everything seemed fine and ordinary. When I loaded my car onto the trailer about 30 minutes later the trailer had flat tire. I had to call and replace it. I was not only charged for this service, charged for the faulty tire given to me by budget, had to change my leave date, change hotel confirmations but also had to deal with with this horrible company. No sense of responsibility taken from this company. Whatever you do, AVOID this company at all costs.

They charged me for returning a car 3 days early they cars are trash vehicle needed tires it swayed after 55mph and they charged me $170 when i got the car the price was $208 for 6 days i only used it 3 days then returned the car talking bout $208 was the price it was for the week since i returned it early they charged me the regular price which doesnt make sense at all dont rent from them they greedy scam artist all online a Toyota is 30 bucks a day even if you gave me a discount it shouldnt have been 170 the people at the desk were nice otherwise it would be no stars dont rent here

Absolutely worse rental experience I have ever had, and Ive was a road warrior for over 15 years.I used this place for a personal rental to drive out of town to TN and boy was I disappointed.First they tried not to honor the entertainment coupon I had which after review from Budget Customer Service they should have done. Yes, I had to call them to get anything done, because everyone at this facility either is incompetent or they flat out just lie to your face. They actually had me call them back at the location after I picked up the car to give them the coupon number again, which was never added. Thank you for nothing Ms liar, Mary Lou!The car interior was FILTHY...why would it be customer services job to clean a car at a facility? I took it that way because I was pressed for time not knowing just how bad it ended up being.We put our suitcases in the trunk and unbeknownst to us it was covered in MOTOR OIL!!!Three shirts and one suitcase ruined and what was this locations response? Call customer service and make a claim...We had words at the counter with another incompetent fool Mr Lazy, Ralph.They gave me the wrong number for claims...again because they werent willing to provide basic customer service or know how to clean a vehicle. LAZY, INCOMPETENT clowns.After about 2 hours on the phone with customer service and claims I finally got someone to 1. honor the original agreement and 2. agree to take care of the damaged items caused by the lazy, incompetent, lying thieves at this location.Currently I am contemplating legal action against this location, but it should be noted that Budget is in no way to blame for any of the issues Ive ran into.DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM THIS LOCATION. If you do and have any problems, make sure you put the number for customer service in your phone because no one at this location cares enough about a customer to do anything.

Had a 9am reservation and they didn’t give me the rental until 10 am and I brought the rental back 15 minutes later than the time specified time the next day and was charged for a extra day. Bad business!
This place is absolutely Horrible!! DO NOT GO HERE!! They will try to charge you extra money plus they are rude as hell! The old lady in budget snatched my paper out my hand! The Fat guy was rude he wanted to charge me extra. I used my own insurance and they were mad about that!

Very unethical billing by the location after vehicle return. Booked at Costco travel for $52.74 while the location billed $72.74 on my card. Upon talking to customer service, the location billed me $10 cleaning fee and $10 as extension fee. I dont smoke nor do i have pets, i returned the vehicle in the condition i received it in, no food stains or droppings either. I rent vehicle very frequently and was never charged like this. I guess i should always prefer the airport locations!

Can I give 0 stars??? Seriously how is corporate allowing this location to operate? I had to file a complaint after my bank was charged an additional $600+ after I had already paid $400 for the a 10-day economy rental. So $1,000+ was charged. The same names mentioned in other reviews, still remain at the location. Its sad Detroit already gets a bad rep, and youve got corporations operating like this. Just ridiculous. You need to enforce stricter policy on the maintenance and cleaning of the vehicles. My car smelled like dog, carpet dirty, windows dirty, vinyl dirty and more than I can remember.I dont know what the heck happened and why I was over charged, but after about 5 hours of conversation between the bank and Budget, I finally got a manager on the phone at budget. Not at the location, but their 800 number. She looked at everything I had and the documentation and decided I deserved a credit.But the 5 hours I spent on the phone cant be replaced and Ill probably avoid any Budget/Avis in the future.Cheers

Called me with less than 24 hours notice, to tell me they don’t have a truck I booked almost 2 weeks ago. Landlord wants me out ASAP and they really dropped the ball. Additionally the person who called me to tel me had a bad attitude when I asked her to help me fix it.
The old lady desk person was unfriendly, mean & impatient. Initially, she did not want to go through the Soul car with me. I found dented front roof, scratches on rear side & bumper, cracked back up brake light and smoking smell inside car. Worse experience w Budget ever.
