Phil, Adam and Chase are the best in the business. Phil, the owner, and his son Adam are masters at fixing classic cars. They have turned my 64 Porsche 356 into a truly amazing machine. When I bought the car it had many issues and theyve sorted out my car so its running like I took a time machine back to 1964 and just drove this car off the lot. Both of these men have big hearts as well. Both stayed late on a Friday night to get my car ready for a car event I was attending the next day. Their service manager Chase is a great guy as well. So easy to deal with and always has a smile on his face or in his voice. Have enjoyed many car conversations with him and even attended a cars and coffee together. I consider all 3 of these guys my friends. This is by far the best classic car repair shop in San Diego....

Phillip at 101 European is a consummate perfectionist when it comes getting the job done right. My 1955 Jaguar XK140 was mechanically restored to a better than new condition. I look forward to many years of enjoyment and doubt that anyone, anywhere could match his level of mechanical craftsmanship.

A quick update to my earlier comment below: The rebuilt alternator failed after a couple weeks and 101 European covered a re re build under warranty. One more reason to do business with 101 European.Had my alternator / generator rebuilt on my 63 356 Porsche. (Feels like they also adjusted my brakes and clutch although nothing on the invoice - but thats how these guys roll !). Car was washed and detailed before delivery. Car runs and sounds great. (Shifts and stops better too !). Would highly recommend European 101 for you collector car. Been taking my 356 there for years.

Im a 20+ year customer so might be biased, covering 4 different models of old Mercedes that Ive owned and had 101 keep up-to-shape. Presently its a 1982 300TD in near-mint condition. My comfort with 101 is their knowledge. If you are interested in preserving an older value;e car, this is the spot.

Even if you got your car in perfect shape, good place to stop by some preventive maintenance or just look at some super nice cars.

I have been going to 101 European for many years and have great experiences with oil changes and annual services but yesterdays experience was very unfortunate. I took the car in for a check engine light and a general service and while diagnosing the problem, they found oil on a small valve that attaches to the turbo. Without checking if the part works, they told me they were going to buy a new one and install it. The part was installed and the issue was not resolved. They continued to test the turbo and did not discover the actual cause of the issue before giving me back the car. $1000 later, the issue was not resolved and no pinpoint diagnosis, other than the turbo doesnt work, was given (which was noted before I took the car in).In my opinion, I think they made a mistake replacing and making me pay for a new valve only because oil was found on the outside. This part, which attaches via 3 screws should have been tested before being deemed as malfunctioning. Overall, I payed a ridiculous amount of money for no fix or diagnosis to the original issue. After $1,000 the only outcome was a tire rotation and a calibration of the tire sensor. Nice guys but poor systematic approach. Luckily the turbo is under warranty via Volkswagen but it would have been nice to know that before the service...

Stumbled across a receipt from back in 2017 and was so violently reminded of my experience that I had to say somethingThings they replaced on my 1971 VW bus:CondenserPointsValve cover gasketThrottle cableAccelerator cableMirrorDistributorVacuum advanceThings that broke within 6 months:Condenser, twicePoints slipped constantlyAccelerator cable too long for Chinese carb they assured us would work fine. Obviously gave me fits with idle speed and car speedVacuum advanceAll for $1300. Ridiculous. And if youve customized your classic in some way they dont approve of, expect some upwards noses. Never went back, never will.

This is the only shop I care to take my Porsche to. I feel like I am bringing my Porsche to family for the quality care my baby needs. The staff go out of their way to make certain I am comfortable and happy with the work and allow me to be envolved with the restoration my Porsche. I am thrilled with 101 European.

The service at 101 is exceptional. Their techs saved me from experiencing a much more serious problem before it occurred. I have been able to keep my 2007 Cayman in perfect condition with their support. This is the place to have first class service.

I have an Alfa Romeo & not everyone can deal with them but 101 European takes very good care of my car & their customers. I would recommend them to anyone.

The original mechanic Carlos, took his time and explained all the items that he was working on in detail. He replaced the fuel cell bladder. Then it was recommended that the steering and other items needed refining. This turned into a nightmare. The cost was three times what was quoted . It seemed like a huge up sale went on. A week after the repairs the car had to be towed as the lights, which were supposed to have been replaced, went out, the car still would not idle correctly, and the alternator needed replacing amongst many other items.. For the money spent the entire car could have been overhauled, Very disappointing

So far, so good. Took my 2007 passion-pink Mini Cooper and fixed her up. A few things still to be done and I am keeping my fingers crossed. They also have some very cool cars for sale.

This shop is the best! I had a window wiper issue and was told by another shop I had to replace the whole unit at a cost of $400.00 plus labor. Took it to 101 Automotive and they determined some wires were crossed. $35.00 and it works perfect. I highly recommend this shop!

As a newer resident to Solana Beach I didnt know where to take my car to get it buffed from me scraping against pole. I read the reviews and BAM, I knew 101 European Automotive was the place to go. I immediately was impressed with the very clean shop and greeted by a nice young man who kindly acknowledged and helped me. I was so surprised they worked on my car immediately without an appointment. My small auto repair was taken care of without a huge auto repair price! Im thrilled to have a local place to bring my Lexus.

My car was starting to feel like it was going to have problems or the engine light was going to pop on sooner than later. Not only that, it was extremely dirty and felt worn down, like after working out too long without a break or shower. 101 European not only fixed my car up to feel brand new, but they cleaned it so it actually looks brand new too. Never ever hesitate to take your car into 101 European. Theyll even help you find a ride home if you do not have one!

For years 101 European has provided our family with excellent service. Theyre communicative, honest and extreamly hard working. With owning older cars I know it can be tricky and finding parts isnt always easy but they seem to always pull through. I wouldnt take my cars anywhere else.

As always Phil and his team quickly accommodated my unannounced visit and had the inspection performed and repair estimate ready in short order.While we would like to say that we wish the costs were lower we can not honestly complain about it considering we are talking about a vintage vehicle (1968 Porsche 912). Additionally Phil is almost savant like in his knowledge of our not-so-common car which really inspires confidence in his recommendations.We have been taking our car here for almost three years now and I honestly cant imagine trusting it to the care of anyone else.

My car, a 2001 Porsche Carrera 4 Cab, was an invisible wreck. Id just bought it from a dealer, thought the ride was rough, and wanted the guys at 101 to check it out. The dealers mechanics had little interest in such an old vehicle and didnt even bother to give it a cursory check or send me a report what might go wrong with it. It was low mileage and had been sitting more than driving, so there were multiple problems traceable to that, not to mention the IMS system, which I knew nothing about and had a good chance of blowing the engine. They went through my car with surgical precision, wrote me a detailed quote, had the car on a lift for a week, now its a joy to drive. Thanks 101, your attention to detail and mechanical abilities are amazing!

Hard to trust this shop! Every visit generates more issues and guarantees the shop more future business!! Asking for more $$ in a creative manner - there seems to be no end. Expensive! Otherwise, clean shop with nice people!

Bad temper! Wished there was a negative star. Will be happy to post docs and receipts for public awareness/evaluation.The response from the owner below is just pure dishonest!! I have kept docs re. my repeated complaints about the same issue during dozen visits since Aug of 2017. After spending approx $8K, he claims that I asked for free repairs!! The shop has just announced a new warranty policy to defuse similar customer complaints. There are third party investigations against the shop. I will post the outcome once available.Contact Bureau of Automotive Repair, San Diego Field Operations and Enforcement, if you experience new problem(s) after each visit. You will not be disappointed.

We took our vehicle there to get fixed and there was a major lack of communication between the mechanics and us. After a couple days when we came back to pick it up, the problem wasnt totally fixed and they still managed to charge us both arms and both legs.. AND they lost our key. Not as professional as they seem.

Have gotten excellent service for two decades. From Amy on the phoneto all the owners and all the technicians. They have serviced Saab, Jaguar and Audi cars for me. They are competent, honest and it feelss more like a classic American family owned business versus a giant dealership.

I took my 450SL to this shop about a year ago and had a very bad experience with them, so I dont recommend them.

Hello.... yes you guys were great. I had taken my LR4 to the dealer because I still had some miles on the warranty. As usual of course this part was not covered, the tech said I needed front bushings and a lower arm control. The car was pulling to the right. The problem was three months earlier I had the bushings replaced at another Range Rover dealer and they said everything else was fine, no mention of the lower arm. I told the tech that and he said the lower arm was rusting and they would not use the bushings. I called the other dealer and he said they hardly ever replace arms for rust reasons. When I came to you guys Adam came out and looked at the arm and said it was surface rust and checked again when I brought it in for alignment. It runs on the road straight again after you guys did the alignment.Thanks

This outfit has been in business approx. 40 years working on Euro cars. A family business. Lots of older model VWs on the lot, VW busses, campers, Mercedes, Beemers, etc.These guys are smart, thorough and articulate. A garage for owners who care about their (mostly older European) vehicles and want quality service and workmanship. You might be able to get lower prices if you want to drive east or towards Mexico, but if you want quality and love your car and/or see it as an investment, this could be a good shop for you.Because a lot of VW shops are no longer working on the old VW busses, 101 is busy these days, so youll need to reserve your time in advance.
