Great quality builds! Been using them over 10 yrs and will use them over any other. Thanks again Joe
My 5.7 hemi was recently almost has the 1000 mile break in it was a mess due to the last engine that was put in somewhere else bolts loose- missing etc their timing was a little off by a few days but understandable the last place had it over a month just to replace engine anyway I got my truck back with a few new parts I requested the motor looks runs and sounds great would definitely recommend others to use this place friendly and professional thanks for getting my truck going again
Class act form start to finish. I am a Charter boat captain on Eastern Lake Erie. I had them supply me with two Chrysler 318 long blocks. They were there with answers to some of my questions in hooking up the intakes etc. I ran into absolutely no issues throughout the coarse of the fishing season. I plan on sending the two blocks that I have and having them done for spares next fall. Jasmine was just great to deal with!!! Shipment was delivered flawlessly. A+++++++++++++ Thanks Again! Captain Rick Westfield Charters
Warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. I bought an engine in March, installed it in my 30 Sea Ray. The motor ingested water after 9 hours of use. Joe told me to bring it up to Skowhegan and he would tear down in front of me he would fix any defect he deemed was his fault, I asked him about damage the water ingestion caused, he said I was on my own for that. I called Joe back and asked him to reconsider to make it right, he declined. I tore the engine down myself and opted to bring to a local machinist that I have known for 40 years. He found the the starboard head was very deteriorated and was really surprised it was installed on this engine. This is not the Marshalls we all knew years ago, it has been purchased by an employee. I would not trust these guys to rebuild a lawnmower engine, never mind an engine in a boat that I take my grandkids out on the ocean in. I doubt if they gave me another rebuilt I would trust it after this debacle. I have installed 10 engines in various boats (all brand new engines) and never a problem. I will purchase another new and install, and take this as a lesson learned.
I had them replace the engine in a 1999 Chevy Tahoe I was restoring. I couldnt believe the service and quality of work. I was able to drop it off on a Saturday, even though they werent open and was able to pick it up on a Saturday. Their pricing was outstanding. I am now restoring a 1954, 3/4 ton GMC with a 5.7Liter engine and they will be doing the replacement on that vehicle as well. Wouldnt trust it to anyone else.
After reading all the reviews and the amount of poor to terrible reviews.I will not be taking my motor to Marshalls but I would make suggestions for the owner or owners of Marshalls.1. Do the right thing.2. Your reputation online is being tarniahed heavily to the point of losing business.3. Stand by your work PERIOD!!4. Answer your customers.complaints promptly5. Again always (DO THE RIGHT THING) by your customers6. Man up to you and your shops mistakes if you cant your business will suffer.
THIS SHOP ISINT WORTH ANY STARS BUT AT LEAST ONE IS REQUIRED TO LEASE A REVIEW. I have done business with this shop twice for marine engines. The first time I received a 318 Engine with a badly scored cylinder in # 5 and the wrong timing chain unfit for marine service. The engine had to go back. The second time I purchased A 318 Reverse rotation engine. They used a modified rear main sealing method by polishing out the helix from the crankshaft as he didn’t have the correct one for reverse rotation as Chrysler marine put the helix in the crank and not the seal as done in Ford or GM based engines. This is not approved by Chrysler Marine or Felpro gasket company and was not the sealing method he explained he would use when I spoke to Joe Horton Of Marshall Machine and authorized the charge to my credit card, again the engine had to go back. After the engine was returned I found a Rocker bar on backwards, when I called Joe he said it didn’t matter. The service manual for this engine specifically states the Proper installation. After installing this engine upon initial startup it had bad blow by that is pressurizing the crankcase in spitting oil out of the dip stick sleeve and the rear main seal has a massive oil leak. The compression is well under 100 PSI exhaust port temps are 100 degrees below that of the normal running engine. The engine is useless and has to come out and worse than the bad engine I replaced . I purchased the first engine just as the new ownership had taken over in 2013 and this second engine August 2016. Marshall Machine claims his engines are bench tested before they leave his shop, That is not true. It is the consumer who is the test of these poorly rebuilt engines and it is the consumer who has to deal with all the headache afterwards. this purchase is in dispute with the credit card company and hes lying like crazy. I do not recommend this shop as the quality is below substandard and leads to major Headaches and expenses. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, FIND A REPUTABLE SHOP THAT IS BBB AFFIALTED AND BUILDS THEM CORRECTLY.6/12/2017So, now after six months I have finally had chance to get this junk engine out of my boat, I have removed the rear main bearing cap to see why I had such a massive oil leak only to discover that after all the discussion and promises about how he was going to do this seal the rear main, even after taking the engine back over the seal issue to begin with I find that he completely lied to me, He used a standard rotation crankshaft and that was the cause of this massive oil leak. If you look closely at the seal you will find the helix grooves in the crankshaft are set for standard rotation engine. This guy promised me he used the correct crank! Also this engine had such poor compression I had to put a bar on the flywheel bolts to loosen the balancer bolt and flywheel bolts as the engine spun over with no resistance. HE IS A LIAR AND A SCAM ARTIST who does spray can rebuilds. I HAVE A GOOD MIND TO SUE HM FOR ALL MY EXPENCES.
Jay and the guys have always done awsome machine work with great prices and turn around time
I recently had the engine of my 2004 Dodge Dakota rebuilt. The owner was straightforward, honest and answered all my questions. He picked up and delivered the truck, which was over an hour away. The truck is running great and has more power than ever. They did a professional and quality job. I wouldnt hesitate to have more work done at this shop. I would highly recommend this garage to everyone I know,
Unbelievable Customer service, timely and lived upto the ship date. Motor runs awesome. 5.7L for my Sea Ray Boat......highly recommend them. The other reviews on Google that are less than positive are the exception not the rule. Ignore the ones that just complain with out the facts. The prices here are very very reasonable. Ignore the complainers and know that these guys are the real deal. The knowledge of engines, Machining and advice on replacement options was far better than any other place I called. Definitely go with these guys. Thank you very Much. Brian in Concord NH.
Joe and his wife at Marshalls Machine shop own and operate a very stand up business. While I am not pleased to have had to buy a rebuilt engine, I am very pleased to have worked with them. While they are over 230 miles away, Joe was very helpful working with me to get my truck to and from the shop and extremely thorough in not just the rebuilt, but also the R&R which included having taken care of unexpected rust set backs in the power steering cooling lines at a reasonable cost. Road testing is everything. I am grateful for the referral to Marshalls.
I can to Marshalls after having some motor issues with others on a custom motor and jay worked with me and explained everything vary well and gave me a good deal on the price and quick turn around I would definitely recommend them they vary knowledgeable and honest
So far Joe the owner has been very customer friendly. Waiting for marine long block to arrive. Will come back and update post. Dont expect any problems these guys have been building some pretty awesome stuff. Maine to Jersey
Had a new engine installed, Marshalls did not stand behind the warranty. Do not recommend using.

Sincerely shawn dyer
Went there out of desperation, was warned they were shady. Guess what? It is true. Engine overheated within 1700 miles, was told it was our fault, had someone else take it apart and was told they put back used parts. Hmm..lesson learned. Did not stand behind, just about laughed when we said we would take it to court..
I ordered a rebuilt motor from Marshalls For $3,000 and they told me it came with a 4 year 40,000 mile warranty, I paid them the money they delivered the motor to Ace tire and service in Waterville, said they sent the warranty to Ace along with the Motor, when I went to pick up the Vehicle, it was on a Sunday no-one was at Ace the keys were under the seat along with my Bill from them (Ace) and there was no warranty attached.. I have called Ace, they said they never got it, Marshalls says they sent the warranty to them, they are both stringing me along over a year and a half later, I want the warranty to the Motor I paid over $3,000 for it cant be that hard to type up another one, they have ignored my calls they have ignored my lawyers attempt to get my warranty, and just to add when I picked up my Motor from Ace I drove it home 3 hours and the next day noticed I have a bad rear main seal leak, I just paid over 10,000 for this car I am broke someone needs to fix this and Ace says its someones fault from Marshalls and Marshalls says its Aces fault but in the mean time I have a bad oil leak and my warranty should cover this but I do not have it. And both companies have ignored my lawyers requests to provide me with what I was promised. END RESULT after going through the Better Business Bureau, They said they would send me a new rear main seal, but they refuse to send me the warranty that enticed me to their company to begin with. THEY ARE LIARS and the NEVER answer their phone and I would never recommend them to anyone!!
I sent over some pistons to have new ones put on they were supposed to return the old ones when they were done . I had done alot of work with them installing there motors, I thought they would treat me right. They pressed on the pistons and forgot to return my doomtops.I told them next time they came threw to drop them I called and ask for them they said they were in a box next to there desk an would get them droped.then they lost them, then they told me to #$%@ my self. So that is the service at marshalls they are a bunch of thieves and they lie Dont do business with them.
WARNING! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! They rebuilt my motor to my box truck, when I got it back It was leaking oil all over my driveway, the head lights were not hooked up, I almost got into an accident in pitch black, My air conditioner did not work because they bent and broke a line, they did not replace it, my gas gauge did not work, my oil pressure gauge did not work, my temperature gauge did not work, when I called them and tried to use my 3 year warrantee they told me to get a quote and get it fixed, when I called them and told them what it would cost, they told me that it was too much and that they would not pay, I called them for about two years a couple of times a month and they never answered the phone or told me no one was able to talk to me.... DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!WARNING! WARNING! They do not honor their warrantee....
Im now seeking a full refund as well other fees/damages through the small claims process against Marshalls Machine. I had purchased a 258/4.2 liter engine for my 1987 Jeep Wrangler back in November of last year. The engine was professionally put in by my mechanic in which he couldnt set the timing the engine. After a few days my mechanic said he can not set the timing and that there is a problem with my engine. I then took it to another highly respected mechanic to figure it out. After a few tries this mechanic came to the same conclusion. In fact he stated that the timing was so far off the engine shouldnt even be running. He turn the distributor and got it to run but it never ran 100% since day one. The engine now has a knock in it and after contacting Joe at Marshalls Machine he advised me not to drive it. I only have one vehicle to get back and forth to work. I work as a paramedic so Im on call 24/7. Joe stated that if I pull the engine out and get it up to their shop in Skowhegan, Maine they will fix it. The fact is, Joe thinks I have a money tree in my back yard. Ive already paid a total of $1,800 labor costs not to mention towing fees, car rental, ignition troubleshooting parts and missed days of work. So I called Marshalls today and Joe said he would charge me $1,100 to take the engine out and fix it. How generous is this guy? Thats the cost of another engine! And if I had a mechanic remove the engine at a cost of $800 I would still have to get it to Skowhegan, Maine which is 3 hours from my home in North Andover, MA. I just hope the Maine judicial system is more professional than Marshalls Machine. Warning: Do not do business with Marshalls. Youre better off buying a factory engine or installing a newer engine in your vehicle.
