Mint is, without a doubt, the cleanest gym in Scottsdale. The owners and members are amazing and make you feel right at home. The individualized programming and 24-hour access has helped me tremendously in staying on track with my fitness goals. I love this place!
If you are in in the Scottsdale area, you absolutely MUST check out MINT Strength & Conditioning! I was lucky to have Jay and Kristen as coaches for 4 years. What makes them tremendous is a powerful combination of athletic skill/understanding and the unique ability to individualize that understanding for each member. On top of that, they are welcoming of ALL skills and talent level... and gifted at training all levels as well. This is an uncommon combination and is what makes this gym absolutely worth a visit! From experience, I can promise its a decision you wont regret.
MINT Strength is a gym that provides you a well rounded experience, they keep the training fresh on a weekly basis with new variations of exercises but you still see results in the most basic of lifts. Jay and Kristen have great personalities and keep you motivated through the training and are fun to hang out with outside the gym! They care about every person in the gym!

I met Jay and Kristen when they coached at Friendship CrossFit in Columbus, OH and had the privilege of working with them for about 3 years. And they have the best gym mascot, Nala passionately waits so she can clean your face post workout and give you support. You will find no better gym around!

After competing in high school and collegiate sports I have to say that Jay and Kristen are some of the best coaches Ive had in my life. I enjoyed having them coach me in classes because they knew how to motivate me and get the most out of me in every workout. Olympic lifting with these two was my absolute favorite because of their ability to spot subtle flaws and relentless pusuit of making me better made me feel like I was receiving elite level coaching. As a CrossFit trainer myself, I strive to model their coaching styles.

MINT Strength is the BEST. I have tried just about every type of workout imaginable (running, crossfit, yoga, kickboxing, pilates, barre, spin, bootcamp, etc etc), in dozens of cities in the U.S. and internationally. The coaching and programming at MINT is second to none, and Kristen and Jay have created an incredibly warm, encouraging atmosphere at MINT.I always struggled with double-unders, never able to get more than two unbroken or do singles between the doubles for more than a year. I literally had one PT session with Kristen, and after practicing the drills she showed me for a couple of days, I was able to do 15 unbroken.The list goes on and on—she also coached me to my first true kipping pull-ups, and working with her on deficit handstand push-ups on a box got me from two ab mats to being able to RX hand-stand push-ups against a wall within a few weeks. She is so perceptive to the needs of individual athletes, and has an in-depth understanding of body movement. Every single training session is incredibly fulfilling, valuable, and just plain fun!Whether you’re looking for weightlifting coaching (in person or remote!), ways to improve your running, help with nutrition, or have any other health/fitness goal, check out MINT and you won’t regret it! Jay and Kristen are such welcoming and knowledgeable coaches/gym owners. They are so patient with newer members, and very knowledgeable for the advanced athletes.
Where do I start? Jay and Kristen are two wonderful, amazing people and coaches. They worked with me for two years starting the day I walked into our CrossFit gym. They took me, someone who had never touched a barbell in my life, had no sports or fitness background and made me fall in love with CrossFit and myself. I would not have the confidence I have or be able to move the way I do without Jay and Kristen. Both are very kind and caring. They will ensure you meet and exceed whatever goals you have in life (e.g., fitness, nutrition, lifestyle, etc.). Once you meet them and attend one class you will want to be their friend and you will want to workout again. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend giving MINT, Jay and Kristen a chance to show you just how amazing you really are!
I’ve been going to crossfit classes here since Sept 2016. Kristen and Jay have created an amazing space where you feel comfortable, encouraged and challenged. We’ve worked on building strength and focusing on form and technique. I love the nutrition class on Saturday mornings led by Jay. Paired with crossfit class, it provides a more holistic method of reaching your fitness goals. I’ve learned so much in the past year and have progressed on this journey with their help. They both have a lot of experience in coaching, crossfit and weightlifting and it definitely shows! I’m so glad to have met them and am grateful to have them as coaches! Mini dance parties with Kristen is definitely the cherry on top!

I worked with Jay one on one and in a group Crossfit setting. He was patient and kind and was always coming up with new ways to help me reach my goals. In 2015, I was struck with the news that I had breast cancer. Jay helped me stay strong physically and emotionally through a year of multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. He stood by me as I morphed from a cancer patient, survivor, and then thriver. He and Kristen are much more than coaches. They have a passion for serving others. I miss them both dearly. If you are in the Scottsdale area you will not regret walking in the doors of Mint Strength and Conditioning!
