Working on 3 decades of business with State Farm. My agent retired and I wanted new agent to meet with face to face (I no longer know anyone at old office and they moved across town). Contacted this office and spoke with Tom, who blurted I dont think were doing those without explanation (not helpful) and quickly put me on hold. Brett comes back onto the phone and after I explained what I was looking for, he also quickly dismissed my request after giving me a brief ethical concern about poaching off other agents and referred me back to my original office. I asked for further clarification, and I believe he recognized he was being short. He thought he may have made a bigger deal than this really was. In essence, all this office was telling me was NO. I was in shock because 1) I have always gotten thorough, polite responses from State Farm 2) the number of 5 star reviews for this office led me to believe they know how to speak with customers, potential or existing 3) poaching would suggest you are stealing - but Im the customer requesting this change.I contacted another SF office in the area and encountered someone with truly exceptional customer service skills. I will not disclose the office, but I was overwhelmed by the difference in demeanor and professional experience. This person was able to listen to me, evaluate, and offer solutions. Isnt that what you should expect from your insurance office??? An apology was even offered, even though this office wasnt involved.Im not trashing the Brett Gaboury office, but I offer this as true constructive criticism (which I hope will not fall on deaf ears). You have far to go in improving your office experience. Complacency is a killer. Dont believe your own reviews. This reviewer had a bad experience and was offended enough to write about it. I can go with any insurer I choose, and I should be able to change agents without pressure or grief.In the end, I learned from this experience. Had this been an actual claim or insurance issue, I would hate to encounter the frustration.UPDATE 1/12/2020 - I received a call back from Brett and he offered a heartfelt apology. The call and the apology were not necessary, but accepted and appreciated. His commitment to running his business with the utmost integrity is commendable. Miscommunications are unfortunate and occur with even good intentions. Brett was honestly remorseful, taking my concerns and comments to heart. He didnt argue, defend, or give excuses...he just listened. I truly believe he will work to prevent similar issues in the future.I have moved on, but I would not hesitate to work with Brett in the future, and I let him know that.
