Although the 2 service techs were very able and proficient it appears to me that since the original Company sold out these techs⁹ were working on commission, trying to up sell me at every opportunity.I was also charged over the odds for a drain clean. $275, for less than an hours work.I am a retired Sales Manager and I see exactly what they are doing, used this Company within my family for 20 years, purchased over 8 systems with them so feel now I am being ripped off, need to shop around .

After giving this company a subpar review initially I have amended my review. The reason for the subpar review, unresponsiveness to a request for a follow up to a problem with an airconditioner installation, appears to have been caused by a misunderstanding and miscomunication, on everyones part.The owners of McDonalds AC contacted me, in a very professional manner, immediately after becoming aware of the problem. They personally came to my house and resolved the problem, to my satisfaction, with the AC unit. I commend them for caring enough about their company to resolve a problem and not walk away from it.

Horrible experience with this company. They wont return your phone call if they know they messed up on your job. Then they turn on their answering service who actually gets away with hanging up on your calls. So unprofessional. Beware.

They replaced our duct work on 2 systems. Family owned and honest! They did what they said they would do! Efficient, professional and best price out of 4 bids! I felt like the other bids were given by used car sales men trying their best to rip us off anyway they could. They came to give a second opinion and service the unit. Knowledgeable and responsive. They were focused on solving the issue as opposed to up selling me additional services. I am walking away from another service provider contract because the issue I am dealing was not taken care of when they came out and didnt take care it 4 months ago, It became much worse and are now they are looking to bill me repairs that could have been avoided if they had dealt with the issue when it presented itself. Instead they upsold me an air purification system which has nothing to do with the issue. Plus they charged me another $79 to come out and tell what should have been done 4 months ago when they serviced the unit.

I was about to head to work for the day and realized my ac system was smelling like electrical burning. Obviously I turned it off right away, and I called Jim McDonald & Sons. They answered and put me on the schedule. They were there within hours, and the technician was able to locate the problem and fix it. I needed a new blower motor. My ac unit is 10 years old, and I know I most likely it wont last a lot longer, but I was not pressured into anything. I asked him to check it thoroughly and see if there was any other problems. He made sure it was working well, and we have cold ac now. I plan to call them out when it is time to replace my whole unit in the future.

We had a problem with mold growing in our old ducts. Billy not only replaced but also redesigned all of our duct work. We had an awesome experience with the sales and install team at Jim McDonald & Sons Heating & Cooling inc. We have two A/C Units in our home that lasted 15 years. Nothing lasts forever and replacing our units was a big financial decision. The sales team provided a great financial package that fit our needs. The install team did a fantastic clean job. They installed my AC system in a newly constructed home and as a result, I purchased their two year Maintenance Plan. I cant say enough about their Sr. Technician, John Perry. I was without air for 5 days...another “reputable” company had been out 3 times and quoted over $3000 for the fix. I called Jim and he sent out Tucker. Tucker came out next day and within ten minutes found a leak that was creating my issue. It cost $250 to fix. He was extremely pleasant and thorough. I will not use anybody else!

Our home air-conditioning system failed after normal business hours, a call to Jim McDonald & Sons Heating & Cooling was answered and a service technician was dispatched imediatly. Our system was old and ultimately needed replacement however the technician worked hard to restore system operation long enough for a new system to be selected and scheduled for installation. They were friendly and patient going over the many options, brands and sizes. The selected was surprisingly promptly installed, it works really terrific and has already started to show a savings on our electric bill through the hottest season. The installation technicians worked clean, they were approachable to answer questions and did a very nice job with the installation. This is the second system that Jim McDonald has installed for us (one in our previous home) along with extensive duct work and replacement to improve insulation, correct air leaks and provide fresh cool clean air. Its comforting to know that our A/C system is operating as efficiently as possible and that we are not wasting money. Pricing was also very reasonable for a quality product and installation. Jim McDonald & Sons Heating & Cooling gave us the best pricing and the best service. They were out twice yesterday, the last time at around 8:30 pm. They were the first here this morning to give me an estimate for the new system and were courteous and informative. My favorite part is that I felt like I was dealing with a friend and not a company. Recently moved to the area and needed my A/C unit serviced. Neighbors referred me to Jim McDonald & Son. Terrific advice. Made the phone call and the next day Sean arrived to check out my system. He took his time and explained to me that my system was in poor shape due to the age of the unit and that the system had a bad mold and mildew condition which he showed me so I could see for myself. Knowing this was an unhealthy situation I wanted to get it resolved ASAP. Together we reviewed my options including costs. I decided to have the system replaced. McDonald & Sons Heating and Cooling was referred to me in 2011 when my less than a year old complete new AC unit and handler stopped working (installed by a different company in 2010). While the company who installed the AC wanted to charge me an exorbitant amount of money to replace a bad motor that was under warranty and couldnt get to us for several days, McDonald & Sons installed the new motor the next day for a small fraction of the cost. McDonald & Sons has performed other work at my house since and is my go-to company! My A/C unit was not cooling properly and needed to be checked. John the Technician did a very thorough diagnosis and concluded that I needed a $25 circuit board. He could have tried to upsell me on multiple other parts but I feel the ethical standards of Jim McDonald Heating and Cooling were really revealed by John when he recommended the proper fix as well as the most cost efficient for me. I moved down from N.Y. with my family and bought a house that needed electrical work done by a licensed electrician in order to obtain my mortgage. I had a company do the electrical work and they included a service contract for electrical/plumbing/HVAC. Big mistake! That company came to service my A.C. Unit and gave me the scare tactics and an estimate of $19,600!!! I called several HVAC companies to come and give me estimates to replace my 4 ton unit. Then Jim McDonald Jr came to my house and told me that my unit might not need replacing, but that he didn’t have the proper tools with him and he would have to charge me a service fee (with the option of joining their service plan) to have a technician come check my unit. I decided to have a technician take another look and I am certainly glad that I did. John Perry came to my house and went over my unit with a fine comb and explained in detail every step of the way. My unit was perfectly fine and I was very grateful and decided to go with a 3 year service plan. Upon my next service I was having problems with my capacitor and requested to have John service my unit. Again he came and explained to me everything that he was doing with my unit and again I could not have been happier. John went over the benefits of having a REME HALO system installed without any fear tactics or pressuring. I’ve decided that I would like to go forward with getting a REME.I highly recommend the honesty of such a family owned business as Jim McDonald &Sons and would recommend asking for John Perry to be the service technician.

I rebuilt a house and had two separate apartments on the back. I needed two air conditioning systems; a large central air system for my portion of the home, and a ductless system for one of the apartments. All together I paid $14,000, which would have been a good price if they werent both broken from the start.I have called dozens of times and have given them dozens of chances to fix these systems. They come out, give them a patch, and promise to come back and actually fix the problems. A year later they are still breaking down.I have been left no choice but to seek legal recourse. I will have another more reputable company give me an estimate to replace the two malfunctioning systems and sue McDonald for the money. Period.

Jim McDonald & Sons are awesome! They are the first HVAC company that Ive found that proactively prevents problems. At our business, they replaced a capacitor that was about to go out, before it did. All of the other companies Ive ever had dont say anything during their checkups, and then get paid nicely to come back when your unit stops working. I had another company do their regular checkup, then that same day, a capacitor went bad, so they charged me a service call to come fix it. This is a review of one of this business top guys. Billy Mac. My husband and I were coming home from dinner on August 24th 2017 at 545pm, heading to the interstate as it is pouring rain. Now mind you we are in our 70s and it was only right of us to slow down just a little for safety, to be exact the speed limit was 45 mph and we were driving 40 mph. All of a sudden a white pick up truck came up behind us like a wild person flashing his head lights and honking his horn, i thought for sure he was going to rear end us, before I knew what to do next he came around our right side of the car with his middle finger out and cut back right it front of us. He came so close to hitting the front of our car I screamed and swerved off the road luckily not wrecking. I was so shaken up that my husband had to drive home. My husband is the one through all of this that seen the company on the back windsheild and the drivers name ( Billy Mac) underneath his drivers window. If this is how the people in charge of this place act on the road, you can just imagine how they treat your house or other people at their house.

My air conditioning system went down on a Sunday. Jim Mcdonald heating and cooling sent out a service tech and diagnosed a bad compressor. I would have had to wait until Monday to get a new compressor. Tony, the service tech, called Jim Mcdonald Jr and he personally drove out and set up a portable unit so our family could have cold air to get us by Sunday evening. Because of this we didnt have to get a hotel and spend money. We cant thank them enough for their personal service.

Jim McDonald Heating & Cooling have taken care of emergency problems with the AC unit after hours and during normal working hours a have always gone above and beyond. Great AC company with Knowledge of the business . They have also installed a new A.C unit in my home and it runs great awesome work.

Jim is very knowledgeable about his trade. He cares about his customers to make sure they are getting the right service and cost for air-conditioning needs.

On Saturday April 1, 2017 someone drove there vehicle into my house destroying my air conditioner the whole system on the side of the house was destroyed! Jim McDonanald & Sons Heating and Cooling sprung into action replacling my system with same quality for less than it had originally cost 10 years ago when it was installed by another business.The financial aspect was a pluss however the true silver lining to finding this company is they were simpley amazing for the followingreasons: When they said they were going to be there they were there, they actually answered and return phone calls, they wanted to make sure we had air working right away and showed actual human concern for our situation. We cant imagine anyone using anyone other than McDonalds & Sons for heating and cooling after the experience we just had.Thank you lori and bobby weakley
