On our way home from AZ, my wife and I had our Honda CR-V over heat and coolant spraying everywhere. Asking a gentleman at the gas station if he knew any good mechanics, he pointed me in this direction. I was able to have my car looked at and work started within the hour. Only took an hour to finish which was quicker then stated. We left with car in better shape without much from the pocket. The staff where polite, helped try to save money and did great. Highly recommend. Back on way home with less then half day missing. Thank you again.

Charged me over $1000 for a valve cover gasket job that wasnt completed done correctly. Kept taking my car back because it was still leaking. Every time I was told that they couldnt find the leak. Was recommended to a family friend and he told me that the same gaskets needed to be changed. (Keep in mind that I never told the family friend that I had them changed prior to him looking at the car.) I will never take another vehicle to this place... rip off!

I love this shop. Will is a great service writer. The mechanics are clean and cool. They’ve actually done some simple tweaks on my 1984 Nissan King Cab and have never charged me. Jose is amazing mechanic and good dude.

The only shop I would trust with my Toyota truck in Santa Monica. They always do a trustworthy, efficient and cost effective job. I always feel like I am treated fairly and not getting ripped off. So happy to have them down the road.

Ive never had an experience like this before. I recently relocated from NC to California after driving my car cross country. After already having my strut tower fixed a year ago by a local garage, it finally broke again. Not only did Kondo tell me what the issues were, but they also charged me less than the local garage. I didnt expect a garage in Santa Monica to be as thorough and as thoughtful as this one. I will always be their customer. I also dont typically review businesses but this one has made an impressive impact on me. If youre reading this and youre debating taking your car in, just do it. They wont do anything without your permission and they take the time to explore and address the entire problem– all before they even charge you. Its amazing. This place is God-sent.

These guys are great at diagnosing and doing repairs. If they have an issue while they are fixing your car, they let you know. Been going there for over 5 years.

Ive been going to Kondo Motors in Santa Monica since I moved to LA over 15 years ago and totally trust them. I have taken my car in several times in the past, thinking I had some major problem. They looked at the car, said it was just a little thing, did some sort of adjustments and sent me on my way without charging at all. I have heard the same thing from others ... both men and women. I recently read an article about mechanics charging women more for jobs than they do for men and who also add unnecessary jobs they say needs to be done. Thankfully, no-one at Kondo Motors takes advantage of their female customers. All customers are treated with equal respect and with complete integrity. I lived in Santa Monica when I first went to Kondo and I also referred them to some friends who lived in Westwood. We have since both moved closer to downtown LA but still take our cars to Kondo Motors.

Horrible service. After being inspected, my car started making high pitch scraping sound. I went back Kondo Motors and asked what they did during the inspection. The manager (Not their Japanese owner) for some reason got so offended and refused to take responsibility to Further inspect the noise and fix the issue. Totally not reliable.I was pushing for Japanese car repair at a Japanese car shop with my last name, so when I went there, it was a terrible disaster. I asked the manager to inspect it, and the car that came back started making strange noises, so I went back to the shop and said, After the inspection, make a high-pitch rubbing sound of iron. As soon as he raised the issue, he said that he was a non-Japanese manager who was extremely rude, even though he initially said that the owner was absent from the shop. (I said that I didnt understand the owner) suddenly changed his attitude, Do you complain to me?, And even after hearing the sound of the problem, he didnt want to fix it. I approached him with an unbelievable attitude, saying, Hit another, Ill give you a break. I didnt think it was very professional and my car remained in trouble.Fortunately, I had it repaired at another shop nearby, but the mechanic said that when I was inspected by Kondo Motors, I couldnt get the tires back properly and I used a non-urgent brake pad to make money. Its very dangerous if you dont replace it right away, he said, and he should have refused to repair the actual sound.I definitely do not recommend it.
