I was transferred to Family and Childrens services from Litteral House in Dec 2018 for therapy and Psychiatry. When I was sick it was hard to make the appointments. When I finally made it to an appointment, I had to wait for processing of therapy treatment. It took nearly 4-5 appointments for paperwork processing. When I finally did get to see my therapist, the sessions were good but very short (went to like four).I did not like leaving in tears every time and trying to figure out the rest of the day on my own. Last appointment I went to was again a paper processing apt. I was never told that it would be that. I am probably not a good therapy candidate. I finally got a full time job and I could not make the appointments I made. I tried hard to work with the secretary to call me if there are cancellations. She never called me and I had no flexibility. And of course they wont take phone calls, god forbid we have advances in technology for therapy. Therapists schedule was booked up for weeks. I know that is not her fault. But this place is suppose to help mentally ill folks. I was kicked out because I missed too many appointments. Its kind of an oxymoron, to want to help the mentally ill but punish them when they cant show up. I was not being lazy, I was trying to keep a job for once. When I finally got to see the psychiatrist, she left and I had another one-- who I had to start my story from the beginning. When I missed her appointment because of work, they wanted to already kick me out of the services.I get it, they have a system in place, they all have to operate in a certain way to keep their jobs. But it certainly isnt set up to help me.

Was court ordered here a few years ago and I have to say the most outstanding people were there to help me almost all of which had personal struggles with substance abuse themselves and that makes a huge difference. With this program I was able to regain stability in my life at 19-22 years old through IOP, therapy, counseling, and mental health assistance. Hey it’s van hooked it with new clothes sometimes and transportation to AA/NA meetings weekly. They also gave me tools I needed to get free of the court system and didn’t give up on me! I’ll never forget the things I learned here, thank you so much!!! —Ivy Rea Taylor.
