Great experience here. The gym is good. Ice in the ice machine is great, but the water tastes a bit weird -not bad, just not used to that taste. The coffee machine has delicious espresso. The parking situation is good - theres a garage a couple of blocks away thats worth using. The location is right by the market, which has amazing coffee and good bars and restaurants everywhere. Right next to Adobe and Zoom headquarters, very quiet area.
This hotel is very nice. They have a quick and easy check-in and check-out process. All rooms are cleaned to a high standard and the views from the rooms are very nice. And also, all the hotel staff I encountered were very helpful and friendly. Thanks for a great stay and a memorable experience. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone I know.
I loved the lobby. The architecture was beautiful and I enjoyed reading up on it’s history online. Such amazing pictures of this hotel back in its early days. It’s amazing that it’s still around and at the heart of Downtown San Jose. It was clean and I loved the view from our room. The staff was sweet and friendly. They valet was a plus and very convenient. Location is awesome since there are a lot of fun restaurants and places to visit within walking distance. Visited 06/26/2021.
We stayed here with our pup last weekend and loved it. It’s rare that you can stay in a historic hotel that’s also been renovated and maintained so well. The staff here is very friendly and attentive, it has a fantastic location close to the San Pedro Market, and parking is easy. We’ll definitely be staying here wherever we come to San Jose
Great price for room. Expect to pay $40 for valet parking.. We went during covid restrictions so the bar and the restaurant were closed. The king room was clean and roomy. This hotel is very close, ten min walk, to SAP center. Major plus if you are a sharks fan!!!
Pros: Walking distance to many bars and restaurants, staff regularly sprayed down elevators and public areas with disinfectant. Historic.Cons: Very loud. Between the air conditioning, airplanes, and a high pitched noise coming from the ice machine in the hallway and a rock hard bed we hardly got any sleep.Waited 15 minutes to get an elevator, it seemed like only one was working. First one came about 5 minutes after I pressed the button and was full, then I waited another 10 minutes before the next one came, it proceeded to stop at random floors all the way up and back down again.I stayed at a hotel across from an airport that was much quieter than this. The insulation/windows seem to be an issue.Honorable mention to the coffee machine that sounded like a rocket ship getting ready for take off while heating up and the lights in the bathroom that slowly flickered on while making an unsettling noise. Everything was noisy.
Very relaxing place! Last week, my friends and I had our stay in this hotel, and we were so happy and satisfied with their services. Their staves were all friendly and accommodating. The staves treated us like a princess/ prince, and it amazed us much to them. You are the best, guys! You should be highly recommended!
Positive: N/a Negative: I was charged an additional $75 for room fees. No complimentary breakfast. When I called for food ordering the woman on the phone did not speak English. Limited valet parking I was told to park on the street and pay the meter. Tv only had 8 local channels
Because of its excellent customer service, my family and I still prefer this hotel for our family vacations! Furthermore, their ambiance makes you feel right at home. This hotel comes highly recommended from us!
Positive: the rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable Negative: no more restaurant or bar, with lovely jazz music. No more breafast or their free midnight snack delivered to your room, very sad:( $40 dollars more to park your car at the hotel.
This place is classic!! Old school building but modern inside. Great location right downtown
Hospitality extremely inn the pocket. Thanks TOM, JENNIFER, AND STEVE for such a one door full land another realm maid to order~whom ♡ seer~vice Roy Like Captain Captive America 🇺🇸 On the 7th floor (Real McCoy 713+) and then some par king 👑 chosen valet truth therein! 🏪
Nice old hotel looks great. Renovated and its right in the heart of downtown right by all the bars and restaurants across the street from Adobe.
Positive: the main manager was cool and hotel employee was amazing TShe was receptive to my needs, and very kind and helpful. he view was awesome from a high floor. The location couldnt have been better, it was super fun Negative: One of the night employees was very unprofessional and made my check in process miserable. He told me that my credit card was bad, but it wasnt. I had my uncle drive an hour away in the middle of the night. Turned out to be his mistake.
Positive: Very good stay for the price. It is in town down area so it is close to everything. Negative: N/A
The rooms, amenities, staff and food were impressive. My one-week experience at your hotel has never been regretful and remarkable. I enjoyed it a lot, and I promise to come back if theres a chance. In return, I will give the service rendered a five-star rating. You have to try and youre not going to be disappointed!
Positive: The room smelled so I asked to be moved to another room. The second room had dirty bed linens. The nose from a homeless person could be heard late at night. Negative: The room smelled so I asked to be moved to another room. The second room had dirty bed linens. The nose from a homeless person could be heard late at night.
This place is adorable, its got an old school movie actor theme, super sweet employees who dont hassle you, and easy check in and its in an awesome spot....loved my view from the 6th floor.. it felt very safe and secure and I would definitely stay again. Love it
Positive: The location was nice. Negative: Small tv for a 4 star hotel.
This hotel is very accommodating and in a great location. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. We had a lot of requests and they accommodated each on of them. We will definitely be back!
Great hotel! Stayed in a premium king room in room 811.
This hotel is fantastic because it offers concessions to returning guests! Their kindness astounds me. This is a dish that everybody can make! Id like to return here!
CleanQuietClose to 9th St. Promenade
Clean rooms ..friendly staff BUT be prepared to be charged all kinds of ridiculous fees and a deposit we werent notified about. Decor in lobby A+
Very nice hotel. Clean, with modern bathrooms. Friendly staff!
The room was clean and I was really impressed by the extra things that the hotel did to keep the rooms clean during COVID. We booked 4 hotels during the trip, 3 said i their hotel booking site that they leave rooms empty for 24 hours, however this is the only hotel that did what they claimed in the booking site. I feel safe staying here knowing that they are serious about cleaning and minimizing COVID spread. The hotel staff was very thoughtful and accommodating. They assigned guests to rooms intentionally to make sure that they are not next to each other. We were told that we were assigned to the 4th floor because there were no guests there that night. Once checked in, we heard loud airplane sounds as the hotel was close to the airport. I called the front desk about the noise and the staff and the manager worked with me in finding another room that was quieter. We really appreciated it! Overall great hotel, I would stay there again!
Awesome! I had the best time ever here! Booked this resort for a fantastic rate at ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ I like this resort and Im so happy I stayed at my favorite place for much less than what I generally pay.During this trip, we booked a transit (10-hour) stay on the way into here and then an overnight stay at the end of the week. Our international flight was delayed for more than 3 hours and yet, upon our arrival here at 5 AM, we were met by their staff as they promised. They ensured we got a comfortable room to rest and a hearty breakfast. Thank you so much!
The price was reasonable. The accommodations were extremely clean. And the management was helpful and friendly.
My stay at the De Anza hotel in downtown San Jose was very well liked I really appreciated the staff they were very friendly and helpful when we checked in. My room was clean had a refrigerator anything I needed they were more than happy to help deliver. This hotel is truly an old gem I like staying at old hotels if you can find them from the 30s and 40s this one is still well maintained very well taken care of, newly renovated and theyve taken quite a bit of pride in putting this to keeping it looking the way it is. How it is still here and running is really something quite beautiful to see you dont find that very often anymore.
The receptionist will undoubtedly greet you with appreciation. The rooms have been cleaned thoroughly, allowing you to unwind and enjoy your visit.
Not a very good place to stay i was disappointed it was dirty the rooms smelled I had a horrible stay not to mention how rude the service workers are never again!
Positive: Hotel is warm and cozy, very clean and comfortable. Negative: Wasnt too crazy about having to pay extra for parking when free available parking was just few steps away
Amazing place! This is a very nice hotel for family, couples and if you are alone because they have the best and suitable rooms for you. I will always recommend this hotel for its great service.
Great rooms, very clean!! love the staff thanks for evrything
Oh, what a night!! Best New Years Eve party I ever went to with the singles group was held at this classy hotel. Not what I would call fancy, just a real classic hotel. Didnt stay over, had a great time. My friend at the front desk gave me some candy. I will always have great memories of this place.
Positive: Proximity to Amtrak and early check-in. Negative: NOPE. A++.
Nice but kinda creepy with how old it is
We selected this hotel for the location (walking distance to Giants game) and have found our new place to stay in CA! Very clean and excellent service. From valet, to check-in, to the bartender, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We selected a high floor with a view and were not disappointed. We will definitely be back.
If anybody is trying to find good deals for hotels visit HotelBuIIy. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere!Great costumer service, lobby was very nice looking. The front desk and hotel workers were very nice. Only downside was the noise from the vent and water but other than that great. Nice view of the city and comfortable beds
Love staying here! Always so peaceful
I liked this hotel. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Its not a new building, but its well kept and classy. The hotel is in the landing path of the San Jose airport so there is some airplane noise, but it was low enough that I slept through it without problem. I will stay here again when Im back in town.
I have to eat in the streets like a homeless in San Jose. So I shared my meal. Best eats that allow walk in.. City Bagels,.good food, price easy.
Nice older hotel. Really like their shower. Great front desk at night.
Great costumer service, lobby was very nice looking. The front desk and hotel workers were very nice. Only downside was the noise from the vent and water but other than that great. Nice view of the city and comfortable beds
The hotel is comfortable, good sized rooms and comfy bed. We didnt get housekeeping until we asked for it around 6pm, ironic given they slap an additional 15 bucks per night at check in for amenities. The amenities are nothing special, just the basics of any hotel. Parking is 37 bucks a night too which is pretty high. All staff were nice and welcoming. All in it is a decent hotel but the misc. Charges and overpriced parking would have me look elsewhere in future.
I am presently staying in this hotel. I love it. The rooms are quite large as are the bathrooms. Love the Jazz age feel about it. Bedrooms and hallways, even the room numbers have varied jazz photos. The bed is very comfortable. I think it’s a very cute hotel. One of my favorite things are the three “photos” one sees as they enter from the main entrance. They are ever changing, not like a hologram, but they totally change appearance!! I found it fascinating!! I would post a little video but don’t see where to do that.
The hotel and staff were amazing. Very friendly and happy atmosphere. The hotel was lovely and we had an absolutely phenomenal view of the city. They even have a complimentary late night munchie box that can be ordered up to the room. Ours arrived in no more than two minutes. We have already booked again for Christmas in the Park next month
Positive: Old building kept in immaculate condition Negative: Tv was on when i came into room and so was air conditioner. I felt like i was being watched entire time.
The room was clean and comfortable and was nicely located to downtown. I only have two complaints, and theyre not large: the shower and the restaurant. The shower water temperature was difficult to control and the door opened more quickly than I realized, resulting in me smashing my finger. I went to the restaurant once for breakfast and was mildly disappointed both by service and quality of food. But overall, Hotel de Anza was a great place to stay.
Loved this hotel! The decor was cool and rooms were very clean and had a retro funky style. Staff was super friendly and they have Valet parking right at the entrance to hotel. It does cost extra for valet which was around $39 per day. There are other parking garages in the immediate area but read the prices carefully because a lot of them charge $20 extra to come and go. The hotel will get your car anytime for no extra charge.
Nice area & comfortable room! Will definitely stay there again!
Room was clean and location great. Had issue with valet parking which nobody seemed to care about. Car was parked all night an Santa Clara in front of the hotel. A very busy street and not very secure. For $36 I expected more. Nobody seemed to care when i raised the issue at valet and at front desk.
Good service great rooms
Room was nice. I expected extravagant from what I had heard of the place. Super clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. Definitely would stay again.
Vintage hotel with matching decor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was hard as a rock. Thats ok for some folks, but not for me. Everything else was good.
Decent room, high security, tiny parking area
Awesome, friendly folks! Wonderful atmosphere. Great live music on occasion. Love the pizza 🙏
Classic art decor hotel, capably managed now and owned by Hyatt. Everything you want and nothing you dont! Hedley Lounge with great live jazz, weekends. Superb bartenders. Tell Jack I sent ya!
Marvellous hotel. Great location. Food superb. Staff superb. Real Luxe treatment.I had a small concern re some service immediately acted upon by the Manager. Nothing was too much trouble and this is the norm for this superb hotel.Repeat customer. Simply would not stay anywhere else and look forward to my next visit. A true first class hotel with excellent amenities especially the food. Staff who care. So helpful.Kenny
This was a perfect hotel for my stay for a day’s /night’s get away for Miguel’s concert that I was attending at the time. The university is not far at all from this hotel where the concert was going on at which was a major plus for me. I like to stay close by after a long evening to come and rest. Check in was smooth & I also loved their restaurant located inside and room service was good. This is an all in one location where I didn’t have to leave the hotel for anything.
I stayed here back in December since I was visiting my brother at SJSU and this hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the campus. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The hotels atmosphere is one of the best Ive stayed at. I loved the interior and the antique feel. Because the hotel is on the older side I do feel it needs a few things fixed. In my room the cover for the A/C fell out of nowhere. I was able to put it back up but the A/C itself was also very noisy. To me it wasnt that big of a deal but I can see it being a nuisance to someone who is a light sleeper. Overall I would definitely stay here again whenever Im back in San Jose.
Good hotel. Very close to the SAP Center Shark Tank. It was easy to walk to the hockey game, maybe 5 minutes. One thing you will notice are all the planes flying overhead. Even at night we could hear them. I slept through it but worth mentioning.
Nice bar area with occasional bands playing jazz music. Music is at a good volume and not too loud so you can talk. Service is good. I ordered a couple of lamb kabobs appetizers that were very small and one of them was very tough. Couldnt be bothered to send it back. Good place for the 40+ crowd.
Clean hotel..great staff
The outdoor patio was very quaint and walled off from the hustle of downtown. I didnt have to wear a coat all night despite the weather beyond the walls being really windy. The food was good, though my friend stated that her chicken was bland. I had the salmon and enjoyed it. The staff seemed rushed for the event, but they were nice and easy to flag down. Overall it was a good venue for a small gathering.
Terrible service from this hotel. We were dealing with some problems with checking in when we already had confirmation that we booked it. They made no attempt to help us get our room and had to wait 2-3 hours until the they would finally do something to resolve the issue. The booking said they offered free breakfast, however when it came time for breakfast it was just a voucher for a cup of coffee. So we order something for breakfast and we wait quite a long time for the food to arrive. The waiters insisted itll be out in a few minutes, but they kept saying that every time we asked. Eventually we got frustrated and left. When it came time for checking out they charged us with a bunch of hidden fees we were not aware. We only stayed for 2 nights and hadnt used any of their services, so these charges came out of nowhere. It was not a good time there and would definitely not recommend. Im giving a 2 star because the building itself was beautiful, but my stay was a 1 star.
Simple but elegant style that ties the hotels history within it. Staff is very kind and concerns we had were heard and addressed. We even got a very kind card and treats! The location is perfect. Near so much food and fun we need a longer stay next time!
Since Hotwire wouldnt allow me to post on their site, Im posting here. For this hotel to be considered four stars, I find that hard to believe. The amount of noise from the planes and cars driving by all night is terrible. Its obviously out of the hotels control; however, they should considered reducing the nightly rate because you will NOT sleep good here, at all. The room amenities could be updated as well. Ive had better experiences at Holiday Inn Express; that should tell you enough.
Proximity to the SAP Center is great. The bed can be a little a little softer/less firm. Will stay here again. Will recommend it to family and friends, too!
I like the classic feeling of the hotel. Especially the grand guest room that reminded me what it used to look like. The only issue is the heating unit was very loud when it worked. It sounded like a turbine. Please modernize the heating system and hotel will be a great one.
Nice and comfy hotel. Quiet and clean rooms with upgraded appliances. Great location. Close to San Pedro Market (where there are tons of good places to eat) and SAP Center.
Nice hotel, very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Front staff were very friendly and personable. Valet staff were responsible and kind. Visit redeemed after the last time my mother stayed and they roughed up her car. Room was clean and comfortable, facing the street it wasnt loud at all which was great. Overall, would stay again.
Went for Sunday brunch today. We had a reservation but the place was about to close when we arrived because there were so few customers. Nevertheless, the waitress was welcoming and accommodating. We had great bacon and eggs and pastries in a lovely, quiet atmosphere. A lovely way to start the day.
Front Desk is nice. They didnt leave us confused and they provided us with places to go and eat since we arrived in between meals and we were famished. The hotel, although very old, was still in good shape. Kept up and seems to be in original state without much in changes. Has a small gym that nobody uses it seems, but the equipment is kept clean and is fairly new. They have a small menu for breakfast, but the food options are delicious and everything taste really fresh. Only bad thing I could say is that they have very HARD beds. I tossed and turned all night. Its a nice hotel to visit and see, but the beds are uncomfortable and if you have a bad back, you may need to see a chiropractor after.
The front desk staff was amazing! Knew my name when I walked by and greeted me every time. Makes the difference when you stay somewhere away from home. Bartenders were great as well! Food is always awesome
I went to the bar for the jazz night that occurs the first and third Wednesday of every month, and we had a great time! The drinks at the bar are priced well, and the quality of the jazz was top-notch. The ambiance was calm, with a slightly older crowd that you could tell was there to appreciate the music. Even though there was only one bartender, I was able to get my order in with not too much waiting. I would definitely return to the bar, especially on a jazz night!
Its an older building and hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the extra items in the bathroom, like earplugs and a vanity kit. I would stay again.
Great remodel. Rooms super clean. Bathrooms done really well and spacious. Im giving 5 stars even though its not a traditional 5-star hotel - the 5 stars are because they go well beyond with their customer treatment.
We attended a graduation from SJSU here. Nice place but a bit noisy due to the proximity to the airport. Airplanes are heard every few minutes. We were seated in the sun room which is kind of like covered outside seating because the roof is a fabric roof. The walls are solid so no street noise.
I arrived Sunday night around 9:30 PM. I was confused on arrival as to where to park so I just parked on the street. Once at the reception desk, I was told they had valet parking for the hotel but there was no attendant outside to assist. Since I had just flown in, the first thing I wanted to do was eat. Luckily, I realized right before 10 that room service ended at 10 PM along with every other option to eat at the hotel. Also, theres no pamphlet like hotels normally have for you in the room so unless I looked at the phone, selected room service and talked to someone, I wouldnt have known what I could order from room service or how to order room service. The room itself is small but nice finishes. The building also looks older so youll notice some wear and tear but still a really nice option. The restaurant downstairs was really good as well and they also have a little bar lounge as well which youll find pretty social people. Overall its a good hotel around the historic downtown area of San Jose.
Its an old-fashioned building and hotel. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable. Much appreciated
Great staff, but needs serious improvement.Pros: The lobby and the hotel bar area are very nice. They have live jazz in the bar on many nights. Its only about 10 minutes (in the afternoon) to the airport. The staff is great and aim to please. The bed was very comfortable. WIFI (paid for by the daily add-on Hotel Amenity Fee) is fast and reliable. Free cookies in the evening.Cons: The room was not very clean. Soap scum on the shower door, needed a good vacuum, towels were showing their age. The walls were thin, I could easily hear every word of the guy next door. He was talking in a normal voice. The in-room heater was very loud and aircraft come in low right over the hotel. I had to use earplugs and I am usually noise-tolerant.The oddest thing was the self-flushing toilet. At random times during the day and night, the toilet would just flush by itself. Lastly, the windows were very drafty (so the heat was up). They were old and just would not close all the way.
Liked this ALOT! Location is top notch! Walk out the doors and find your self smack dab in the middle of it all! Room was small, but very nice! Will definitely return here as travel needs deem necessary!
Room was very nice. Great location. Cool, modern bathroom. But the WiFi was horrible.
Love this hotel! I had the most elegant room - beautiful bathroom and wonderful amentities. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. The front desk is very cordial and smart. Would return in a heartbeat. Super location.
My friend and I traveled to San Jose from Reno to watch the Sharks play in game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals. Traffic was a awful, so we arrived at the Hotel De Anza 30 minutes before the game started. When we checked in at the front desk we were informed that I had accidentally booked the room for the following weekend, and that there were no rooms available. So there we were in the lobby panicked and frustrated. Thinking we were going to be very late to the game and debating if we should find another hotel or just sleep in the car. Portia, the front desk agent, did something we will never forget. She said dont worry guys, I got you!. She called another hotel right down the street on our behalf. Luckily they had one room left! She reserved the room, gave us directions, and hi-fives as we left her hotel. Portia went way above and beyond her job description to accommodate us. Because of Portia we were able to get to the game on time and not have to sleep in the car! I will from now on exclusively stay at the Hotel De Anza when Im in San Jose. Portia, if you are reading this, thank you so much! Your considerate personality totally saved us!
Rooms were clean, check in and out was a breeze. Would have given a better review, but breakfast in the morning was a joke. Arrived 1 hour before breakfast ended, and food seemed like it had been out since they opened. Extremely disappointing.
Great downtown views from the 8th floor. The bathroom and room were beautiful. The valets and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The windows in the rooms open easily, and I wouldnt feel safe with kids who could open them as you could easy fall out if you were leaning too far. The location is great to get out of downtown quickly as they are on the street leading to the 87 on ramp.
I enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful hotel with art Deco decor. Very spacious room, very clean too. Great shower, plus 2 TVs! Id stay there again.
This hotel is very nice. Everyone was so helpful from the Valet to Guest Services. The room is clean and homey. Very comfortable. A Restaurant is in the hotel and heard it was good though I didnt have the opportunity to dine there.
No microwave, if you have a pet $100 non refundable deposit on top of their $75 deposit, no vending machine, they do have an ice machine that works, not too many outlets to charge your phone and free parking if you park on the side of the building.
We had a great stay here for the Rock N Roll San Jose Half Marathon. Friendliness of the front counter people was very nice and so was the people in the restaurant. The atmosphere was old-timey but the amenities were all updated. Great location to walk to near by bars and restaurants. Not what you expect for the price.
Beautiful! Very 40s decor. Clean, great food - an Asian flare. Jazz in the evening. Close to everything downtown SJ. Valet parking only.
I recently had occasion to eat at the restaurant in the hotel. When my party arrived it was very quiet but after we were seated it filled up quickly. As a result I think they were very much understaffed. We never got a server to come to our table. The hostess ended up being our server. She took orders, delivered our meals, cleaned up the table and brought us our check. It was very busy and one of our dinners did not come until the rest of us had finished eating. Another member of our party arrived late and even though the hostess brought her a menu she never came back to take her order. We ended up sharing our food with her. While they were clearly understaffed and our service experience was not great, our hostess/server did her best doing the job of at least 2 people. She was very apologetic and comped our appetizer and drinks. She also offered dessert on the house but we were on our way to a concert at SAP and did not have time. Our food was still delicious and the hostess made the best of a bad situation. We definitely appreciated her efforts on our behalf.
Very nice hotel. No parking around the hotel, so expect the 40 dollar a night valet service. Hotel very clean, live music On the weekends. I would come back!
The hotel was very clean and modern. You can tell its an old building but its been renovated to look and feel very modern. The problem is the parking since you have to pay valet, but I was lucky to find parking in the street.
The only reason Im giving this place 4 stars is because they gave me a broken key or room with a broken door- Im not even sure. I think they should ensure they are giving their guests prepared rooms. Moreover, they dont have parking for their guests. If you drive yourself, the valet will park it around the block for $35. I took an uber there since I had called to ask about parking. Once I arrived, the key didnt work, I had to go back to the front desk and get a different room. I was exhausted and wanted to sleep so that was a bit of an annoyance. While I was waiting for my new room, they got really busy and staff got nervous and was scrambling to assist everyone. Once I got settled, the room was great. The view from my room was amazing! They dont give out a basic breakfast so Google brunch locations. Overall, it was a decent stay.
The hotel and rooms are beautiful vintage but mine was like a Sauna ...there was no tub...all I wanted to do was take bubble bath....couldnt get a.c. to work ....but their jazz club and restaurant made up for it! Such a cool little lounge....with nice easy atmosphere I HAD THE most incredible waitress + stay,% me with drink selection..my new f By... We talked1 and she was able to Somehow get my a.c. going before I reaturnd to my room
I love the modern feel of this hotel! The rooms just feel different than the typical chain hotel. The interior design is really well done and really makes you feel like your stepping out of your life and into a world of luxury. All of the staff here is very kind as well and always willing to go the extra mile to make you visit a great one!
