I don’t know why this place got such a low rating. Our experience was seamless. Edward, with the enviable eyelashes was polite, efficient and well versed in the protocols and pick up procedures. The lines were short and moved along nicely. We arrived at the Rental Car Center via the large shuttle bus (which says it comes every around 7 minutes but actually came ever 4 minutes) at 11:30AM and we’re leaving the parking lot in our very clean rental vehicle by 11:57AM only after being greeted and directed by several happy airport workers. And all of these positives were, of course, topped with the ridiculously low rates.
Excellent customer service. Upon initial car rental Edward was very professional and helpful. He suggested an upgrade that proved to serve my needs much more than the previous reserved rental.Upon car return, the process was seamless and Jason, the intake representative was both friendly and helpful. I would definitely return in the future.
I purchased the car rental through Expedia which was fine. When we arrived to the rental spot they informed us they had no cars available and we had to wait two hours. Finally when a car was available it wound up being a downgraded car because thats all they had left. This was not a busy weekend by any stretch so I couldnt figure what the issue was. I was already charged by Expedia up front for the entire rental then I received an email from Fox after I returned the car with another charge for the rental. Still trying to fight these charges but no one answers the phone. Not good customer service and would not recommend.

The cars are great models but the vehicles are dirty inside. The cars have nearly 50,000 miles on them already and the car was a 2020 model. The car has trash hidden under seats and the cars don’t seem very clean there are crumbs and dust all over the floor and seat. The vehicle also has some damage to the exterior. This isn’t the same experience you would have as a clean rental car. If you expect to get something spotless from this company like from other rental companies you’re looking in the wrong place for a vehicle.I received a Toyota 4Runner 2020 model.
The tire got flat halfway to an Olympic park. We call the assistant for 8 hours with no answer. The insurance company didn’t help us because they cannot contact with Fox either. 🤞Hope you are lucky enough to get a good car and stay safe if you choose this rental company.
This is a great place to rent from if you enjoy making a rental car reservation, only to be told when you arrive that they actually don’t have a car for you even though you reserved it months in advance, because the company overbooked its cars. Seriously, stay away from this business, unless you want to be stranded in a city not your home without a rental car.
They have funky rules on the amount of deposit. Depending on where you from it could be $150 to $500. Doesnt matter if its for a tiny car that will hurt you bad if you crash into a curb either. Also, they dont have a legitimate customer service number to call to edit reservations. You have to do it online, and it still doesnt even work. I could not find my reservation. Overall, wouldnt rent here again. Totally disappointed.
I booked a one-week rental of a compact SUV from Fox back in January and had since been worried after reading the reviews here. But I decided to give them a try anyway, fully prepared for the worst. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Zero issues whatsoever! Getting the car took less than 15 minutes and the car was very clean with only ~7K miles on it and a new car smell. They did charge a $500 deposit to my card but it was fully refunded literally the moment I returned the car. Will definitely rent from Fox again!
This company has the worst customer service that I have seen. The employee at the reception is aggressive and does not really know how to explain to customers where to get a car. In front of me in the queue, three out of three customers were completely dissatisfied. As a result, I decided to abandon the companys services and rented a car from competitors.
Itll not gonna happen to rent the car through Fox in my life. I reserved Full-size Hybrid auto, but I got Mid-size Normal auto which is cheaper than I reserved. And then, I got no single discount on that!!! What a clever! You guys lost potential customers!
Please do not waste your time with this cheap car rental agency. I rented a vehicle for 1 day which was 47.00 and they wanted a 400 dollar deposit that is crazy. I canceled and went right to the next agency which was national and got a car without one single dime for a deposit. Don’t waste your time with fox period.
They will take your reservation as a light suggestion. My husband and I were told it would be a 1 to 2 hour wait for a car, same thing they told the three groups of disappointed people in front of us. Guess what? Its now been 4 hours and they still havent called my husband back. All good though, as soon as we were put on the wait list we shopped around the other rental car companies desks and found a great deal on an upgrade to a Mustang! So we got lucky. But, we will NEVER use Fox again, and highly recommend that you dont, either.
Definitely will not rent from them again. Prepaid for the rental in advance only to get there and told they dont have a car for me...wait around for an hour only to be given a car with bad tags and a tire that wont hold air....again stuck waiting. They finally find a usable vehicle after an hour and a half. Upon returning the car find out they never updated the contract with the new vehicle info and attempt to charge me even more. No thanks Fox!
They took the reservation. Didnt have the car ready and asked me to wait for an hour. I returned after an hour and was told there is no car. I could wait another hour or cancel the booking. I cancelled. Will never use this terrible company again.
I rented a Jeep SUV, and when I got there they said the vehicle I rented was not available. She said she was going to upgrade me a no cost. It was not an upgrade. When I picked up the car was an Outlander. I over paid. At the counter I was told the insurance I purchased through Expedia would not protect me in an accident because it was through a third party. I had to but an additional, expensive insurance from them to be safe. I can go on writing more details, but the bottom of the line. Read the reviews.
This is the worst place ever. Car super scratched and dirty, waited for 2 hrs before getting a car. Was mistreated by staff while leaving the gate. Fox staff member ripped the my receipt from my hand twice because I would not sign paper which said that the car was not scratched. She would not let me speak and ignored my requests and she told me to leave. The worst employee I have ever dealt with. Complete disrespect and mistreatment of a customer. She forced me to leave without signing off. DO NOT RENT A CAR WITH THESE PEOPLE EVER!!! I have never felt so humiliated in my life.
I flew into San Jose yesterday. A few days before I booked a rental car from July 1st to the 7th. The total cost was $372.90 and I even bought the countries minimum insurance daily policy. When I went there their sales rep tried taking my card number and charging me and additional three thousand dollars for a deposit. I called him out on his lying and shady business practices and I even showed them my recipe of purchase. This man tried telling me I was being aggressive when I was calling him on his dishonest sales practice and he told me I could leave. I then took a photo of him and his information for costumer service and he then stated I broke the law and he tried trapping me and family in the building by shutting the gates and saying he called the police. I told him to call the policies which he never did after waiting 15 minutes for the police that he never called, his coworkers forced him to open the gates. We left and walked 30 minutes to another car rental agency and they even told us he was ripping us off. I will be calling a lawyer over this. To me this was dishonest and an attempted kidnapping. I have been to Costa Rica before and I never had to deal with something so shocking. PS we do have a video of him shutting both gates on us as well.
The only reason I came to Fox is because they were the only company with Hybrid vehicles and I wanted to drive a Hybrid for a change. When I arrived, they told me they have a Toyota Corolla ready for me. I told them that I ordered a hybrid, and they said they would check to see if they had any hybrids available. After 5 minutes, they let me drive a Ford Fusion hybrid. Why are they running such a sketchy service? Just give me what I ordered instead of trying to scam me.
This place is cheap so you get what you pay for. Front desk said there is a 90 min wait for a vehicle even though we had a reservation, unless we wanted to upgrade, so we upgraded because we are not going to wait 90 mins at the airport with 3 kids. Went up stairs to the vehicles and the guy said they have tons of vehicles, hes not sure why the front desk is saying there is a wait. Basic miscommunication, happens frequently at a lot of businesses so no big deal, we still got a cheap car and didnt have to wait. The car was pretty banged up and dirty but hey, we dont own it so who cares. Turn in was easy, we had to pay 10 cents for damages. Honestly the price will keep me coming back, you just cant beat it.

I only WISH I had read all of the reviews in full before daring to make a reservation with this car company. Im going to maintain my composure while breaking this down.......piece..........by..........piece. So as a potential first time customer with Fox, I decided I would try them out four days ago. I made a reservation with them ONLY to find out that no cars were available to rent BUT the online system confirmed a reservation for me ANYWAY. It would have been a TWO-HOUR WAIT for that one reservation, as I later found out by going to the front counter, only to find that even before that, 12 PEOPLE were on a WAITING LIST and one guy (bless his heart!) had been there since 9:00AM up through that afternoon (lord, did he have patience!) waiting on a car that he had reserved and still got no ride. As if that wasnt enough of a dealbreaker, just wait. It gets better. I decided to give Fox another shot and placed a reservation AGAIN to see if I was going to run into the same issue. This second time, BEFORE going to the airport car site (in San Jose, CA) I called and stayed on the phone for AN HOUR before getting anyone at the front desk to confirm if cars were available or not. They assured me there were cars available. PLEASE TELL ME WHY when I arrived at the car site, presented everything that was needed, inclusive of a major credit card and ID, that Fox decided they couldnt complete the rental because my credit card DID NOT HAVE AN EMV CHIP ON IT???! Are you kidding me? Not every credit card or even debit card company out there is on the EMV chip bandwagon, which Im like........whatever...........its still a major credit card, but Fox failed to disclose that information PRIOR to my arrival, therefore they wasted my time (that Ill never get back), energy and patience, bare minimum. Fortunately, and unfortunately, one of the gentlemen who answered the phones at their call center, even pointed out that this rental car company has a history of including fees for items not requested or dealing in a shady manner with would be customers. When your own call center agents are saying this to customers who have never dealt with you before, its not a good sign. At all. Long story short, Fox, you need to be more forthcoming with your potential customers as to what to expect when attempting to rent from you, for one. Second, if you run out of cars to rent, an update to your website letting potential customers know this would help tremendously.......on ALL your outlets, whether Expedia, Kayak, Hotwire, wherever. Save potential customers the hassle, the pain, the stress and strain and worry of having to rent with you at the end of the day by just being upfront and honest. Youll get a lot farther that way.
Horrible experience. The prices online compared to the street hustle tactics they use in person are horrifying. They need to be investigated by their corporate office for for their shady sales teams who clearly work off commission and take advantage of tourist.
I am scared because of all these awful reviews. I have a rental for next month. I tried to change it after being on hold for an hour . Was told no. And that “ not all the cars are beat up and dirty” has anyone rented a car from San Jose fox and had a car in good condition? And on time? All these reviews say I will wait a long time in line, be told my car is not ready though I reserved weeks ago and be forced to upgrade to a still dirty, beat up car. Gah
Be very careful when book with this car rental.Bad customer service and long wait on phone.Cars are not what described online.They gave us a smaller car that we had to come back and requested for another one that similar to what we booked. We had a tough time driving there car from SJC to LAX car is old and not clean, windshield doesnt work probably and we got to stop on i5 since it was rain.They blocked the return entrance so if you see the cones just drive in and the guy will open it up for you. We had to drive three rounds and late for the 30’ minutes they sent a bill for 1 extra day.They wont pick up the phone
Beware FOX charge you for each bridge toll or high express lane fee with $15 admin fee. This is scam, they do not tell you this at the pickup location. The charge can be handled with a simple email and let the customer pay for it. But they rip you off with $15 for a express lane charge of $1.3. Thief!
I prepaid for a car and they still charged my card the $500 which was just suppose to be a hold that got released when I return the card. I also return the car for them to charge me for an upgraded SUV when I didnt do an upgrade. If I were you, I would safe my time and resources and rent a car from a different company. Fox rental is dishonest company. They are going to try and screw you any way possible. Be careful
You get what you pay for. Their cars are cheap and the service is bad. The representatives at airport are not professional. Got the car after long wait and its gas was not full, it had mechanical problems. They do not honor their contract and charge you (random) extra fee after you return car which is shady. I do not recommend renting car from them.
Going to be totally honest... I started sweating it when reading the reviews, but they did help me since I went in knowing what to expect.I made my reservations online and most would think that a reservation would guarantee you a vehicle when you arrive. I mean, for most companies, thats how its supposed to go. But you also need to remember that Foxs rates are waaay lower than all the others and you get what you pay for. They didnt have a car ready for me when I got there. But knowing that this was their way of doing business by reading the reviews, I decided there was nothing I could do other than wait.I only waited for about 45 minutes. Then was told that they did have a vehicle for me. It wasnt the upgrade SUV that I paid for. Instead, it was a basic Hyundai Elantra. The car was okay. Like I said.. You get what you pay for. But the reason they lost a star is because they didnt offer me a refund for the upgrade. I did email the customer service email that is listed in every reviews response, so Im hoping for a reply indicating that I am receiving my $62 back.Overall experience: Dont complain when youre paying 1/4 of the price other companies are charging. The car might be meh, but it worked okay and the staff cant be blamed for the companys short falls. They were helpful to the extent that they can be. I will be using Fox Rental Car again in the future. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU READ ABOUT A $500 DEPOSIT. I was only charged $30 a day for a deposit, which I received back.

I booked a car directly through Fox’s website and paid it advance. Then decided to add one more day to my trip. Called over the phone and the rep at 1-800 said I can only do it when I get the car.We got there at 9pm and were helped by Lisa. She was amazing!!! Fast, polite, friendly and efficient. She added the extra day, added my husband as a driver at no additional cost and sent us to pick up the car. Car was ready at the stop number on my paperwork with the key inside. it was a very good experience overall.
I feel like 1 star is being generous considering how Fox mishandled the situation. My sister and I rented and prepaid a car with them. When we arrived at 11 for pickup, they said it was a 2-3 hour wait because they didn’t have enough cars. At the 3 hour mark, we called to check in and they said that there was an accident and they have no idea when they will have an available car.We had to call the main number to cancel and they weren’t helpful as they told us we had to call billing, who are closed on the weekends. After 4 hours, we have no car, no eta and no refund after multiple calls.
They were purposefully not honoring my reservation which was booked way earlier for a better rate citing sold out, just so they can make more money by giving it to someone for current higher rate. Cheap and shady business. Never coming back and never recommend.

Lisa is an absolute rockstar! She takes care of her customers with absolute kindness. There needs to be more people like her in businesses everywhere. I have rented from here multiple times without any issue at all. Prices are low and the staff is considerate of peoples needs. Dont let the reviews discourage you from renting from here. I rented a full size car and they gave me a medium size car. They said this one was the only one available. When I returned the car, they changed to me $80 because they said the car was dirty, it was only the front floor that had some moody spots. But $80 just because of that, is an assault to the customers . Do not rent to this place !
Absolutely never rent a car from here! I went to pick up my car and it was not ready but instead needed a 2-3 hour wait.. Hour 3 and I just called again for an update and was told they dont have an estimated time since someone crashed a car upstairs. This entire operation is a scam. Im on hold for the second time since the local office cant cancel my reservation and cant transfer me to headquarters. Thanks for being the worst rental company ever.
Still haven’t received a car that was booked for Sunday and on hold for the 6th time to try to get a refund. They route you all over to get your money back and make you wait on hold for 30+ minutes every time.The operations are terrible here and I will likely need to dispute the charge on my credit card since I can’t get hold of anyone. The worst service ever.EDITThis the response! I can’t even get a refund because he says it’s non refundable. But I didn’t receive the car... or a phone call updating me since Sunday!
Horrible experience! Would rate less than one star if I could. Stay away from this company at ALL COSTS! I cannot stress this enough! Horrible service from the beginning. We prepaid to rent a car at noon. Arrived to the rental center from the airport around 1145am. Was told we had to wait 30 minutes for a car to be cleaned... ended up being an hour. Many elderly people waiting before us for even longer.. Then was told there were no cars available. Ending up getting a completely different vehicle than what we asked for... which did not work well because we needed a fuel efficient vehicle for the amount of driving we were going to do on vacation. Not to mention, the vehicle was dirty on the inside and beat up on the outside. Last but not least, when we went to return the car.. they told us they gave us someone else’s vehicle and someone else had our vehicle. It took forever for them to figure this one out... then we were told they “couldn’t close out on the vehicle.” The license plate number on our rental didn’t even match the one on the paperwork we were given. They gave us completely the wrong vehicle! Nightmare! Go anywhere else but this company. Pay double if you have to. This is the WORST company I have ever rented from and I will be sure my friends, family, colleagues, etc never rent from this company!
Get ready to be SALES TALKED! I booked a reservation with priceline for three days with additional insurance coverage. At the time of pick-up, Edward, the agent who assisted us was very persistent that I purchase the additional coverage through them. I knew this was sales talk however he continued to add statements such as “you should never purchase insurance through any other company other than the rental company” and “you are the driver and you will be responsible for all damages”. His deceitful talk lead me to believe they would not accept the insurance coverage I have already purchased online and that I do not have any other choice but to purchase the one he was offering. This was my first time renting a car and I wish I was more knowledgeable on the subject. In the future I will be taking my business to a trustworthy company where they do not take advantage of their customers.
Worst experience ever. Would give zero stars if possible. I had reserved a car through Fox using Kayak/Pricline for a same day pickup. Upon arrival at the SJC airport, the agent at the Fox desk informed me they had no cars available for same day rental. I angrily asked why was I allowed to reserve through Priceline/Kayak!??! The agent responded that I needed to contact Priceline which was another debacle trying to get through to Priceline support and someone who could actually help me as their first line support agents are totally useless. 30 mins later when I finally got through to a supervisor at Priceline, they of course pointed the finger to Fox. I then handed the phone over to the Fox agent she told the Priceline supervisor she had asked 3 times that day to remove them from reservation system. Now I was stuck at the airport with no car and kept getting hung up on by Priceline support when requesting they book me with another agency. After an hour of of this nonsense, I ended up reserving directly through Hertz from a very nice young lady at their desk who told me that Fox always overbooks their rentals which is why I had this problem. Ended up paying $20 more with Hertz but it was well worth the hassle and frustration. 2 days later I requested a cancellation/refund with Priceline who said they need to contact Fox for security purposes before they could refund me?? Why I have no clue but I said I am not waiting on the phone for them and gave them my callback number. Of course they never called back but 24 hours later I finally got a refund from Priceline. I will never book again with Fox or Kayak/Priceline as there is broken process here with these two companies and a lack of customer support. If saving a few bucks is worth a possible screw up, frustration, and grief, and hours of delay then proceed at your own risk.
So first time renting from this guys. On the counter wasnt so bad. Until I got to the exit. The lady look at me. And she continued doing what she doing which putting keys on the cars on. Not to bad. I wait and wait. Walk pass me again and look. So after 15mins of waiting. I honk the horn for service. Shen proceeded to me and said you saw that I am busy. Well first of all I didnt know she was the one attending the exit. Second she should have said something or acknowledge me. But she didnt. I said customers are important because I own my own business. She said well I am busy what do you want me to do. Get in mind I just spent $1000 on rental. no one else is around but me for 15mins. If I didnt honk the horn. I will still be waiting. So fox you loss my business. You guys should hire employees that cares about your business. Never again will rent from your business
The prices were great and very easy to pick up the rental after reserving it online. I like that it wasnt high pressure to go with their insurance and all the extra costs they try to add. Simply said no, and that was it. The car was great, and returning it at the end of our business trip was a easy as well. No hassles. Will rent from again in the future for sure.
This was my first time renting a car from this location, I have always rented from other vendors so I was extremely shocked and frustrated when I was told that I would have to pay a $500 deposit- as this is the most expensive rate I have ever heard of from a rental location. I was ready to take my business elsewhere but Benito provided valuable customer service and explained everything in commendable detail because he was knowledgeable and helpful I went through with the rental. Thank you again for all of your assistance!
I was very nervous with the bad reviews. However, i had great experience with Fox. Checking out was fast/no bs. Drop off was even better. Justin at SJC airport was super kind and nice. He helped my family unload and gave me directions. Thank again buddy!
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. hidden fees galore with no explanation. impossible to get a reply from the company. we got a car for a week for $134 from priceline. then when we returned it another $66 for a FULL tank of gas (a full tank was not used but they charged us for one...we did agree to the prepay for their gas prices but not for more gas than we used). And a bunch of other non-disclosed fees hidden by codes and not what they are for. DO NOT GO HERE
Waiting time on the rental counter is too long, customer service is very poor, was charged more than the price on the reservation, I called their customer service and stayed for over an hour waiting for an agent, finally they refunded some of the money and told me thats all I can get, Agent was rude and not professional at all.Parking is not organized, it took too long to find the car as the do not have the cars on the right spots, I was charged for one hour late fee,even though the car was returned on time, charged over 40 dollars for 2 gallons of gas.You can tell how this business operate operate money, such a wast to see this kind of company survive this long.

I rented a car from SJC location. Signed on total charges of 360. They charged my credit card 594 claiming that I returned my car at a Denver location instead of SJC. They also charged me an early fees for returning the car early . None of this was true at all I requested them to look at their camera for proof. They kept asking me the receipt. It was early morning and their was no body at the airport location. I was told to drop at the location with key in lockbox. That is exactly what I did. I was advised to talk to their billing department. I kept calling their billing department. It was painfully long wait period of about 90 mins. I tried calling a few times and no body has attended as yet. .
1st car blew a tire. Customer service wanted $140 to help. Thank God I have AAA. 2 car later and tons of extra charges on my card taught me to never use them again.
I’m a traveling nurse & we continue to work of course through everything. I rent a vehicle at least twice a month. This location is why I fly for work into SJC vs nearby airports. My experience of their customer service has been far superior to any other Fox location! Lei & Rahel always greet me with a smile & the best of support! A few trips ago I met Christian & Greta who mange this location. I had a concern that they IMMEDIATELY resolved & Christian even followed up w/an email & Greta checked in w/me in person on my next visit. I’m very grateful & enthusiastically recommend them!! Believe the reviews folks. Worst rental car experience of my life. Booked a car with them via EconomyBookings.com, have used this booking website several times, never had an issue. All my life I avoided these no-name rental companies because of the reviews. only this time they were the only ones with any cars available. except they really had no cars available even though I had a confirmed reservation and paid a deposit, which they refused to refund. On top of that the most rude attitude I have ever seen. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. Uber your way there, you will be better off.

30 minute wait at the counter for pick up. Told right before pick up, $75 charge for bringing the vehicle not cleaned? No details as to how clean but just told the vehicle has to be in same condition as when is was picked up. Need to specify exact vehicle in the inventory so renter can choose which vehicle to rent. Did not receive receipt to my email.

My experience with Fox Rent a Car was atrocious.I booked a reservation and arrived at the pickup area to find only one person working and a line to the door. My wait was an hour and a half long, putting me far beyond my reservation time. It did not make a difference in time saved whether or not I had made the reservation.As I finally got to the service desk, I was informed that my deposit would be $400 because my payment method was a debit card. Never have I been charged such a steep deposit fee for any of the various rental agencies with whom I have booked in the past. I also felt blindsided because not anywhere in the terms and conditions did it state the $400 deposit fee. If I was not already nearly 2 hours behind schedule, I would have gone to a different rental agency.My estimated due at pickup amount was around $300, but I actually had to fork over nearly $800. In my opinion, that is too steep of a discrepancy between estimate and reality at pickup.My only positive experience with the agency was with the desk agent herself. She was very understanding, knowledgable, and friendly.My takeaway from the situation: Never book with Fox again.
Got a car which was in really bad condition. Every 10miles I drove there was tyre pressure warning. And I was given a car which required maintainence.
Renting at Fox thru San Jose was a dream. So easy and fast! Each time the team members have been so helpful and very enjoyable. Besides all that; the price is something a regular person can live with.Can’t go wrong!
I Prepaid rental. Pick up time 12:30pm at San Jose Airport. Was told NO CARS AVAILABLE. They will call within 60-90 minutes to update. Appalling service. The guy at the desk did not bother to say ‘sorry’. Hanging here in limbo. Called corporate number, left my # to call back. Nobody called. Their common practice is to overbook and not have enough cars available. Never again. Book with reputable company that respects their clients and their time. Fox stop being too foxy.I am updating my review after one day: got my rental after 80 minutes, was promised discount due to long wait that will be given upon return. This time the guy at the desk was very nice and the garage staff was trying their best. Made me feel a little better.
Why pay more for a rental car? The agents and staff are friendly, and you get the same car as any other agency, but for much less.
Rented a 4runner with a maintenance required on it, the guy said it is okay and he just reset it. later on in the trip, the rom frequently got stuck @4-5k rpm, I thought it is going go breakdown in the middle of nowhere.-extra 500 dollars deposit fee for local rentersrude service agent name Nicky!pay a few dollars extra and go somewhere else, this guys don’t deserve to be in the this kind of service!

I usually reserve with other companies. Fox offered a pretty great rate. So I tried them this time around. Got there right at 6am and had to wait for the employee to finish getting food from the vending machines. No big deal.However, she had attitude especially when she advised me of a $1,000 deposit requirement for an SUV. Seriously, $1,000? She explained they get cars damaged a lot, and its required.Ended up canceling the reservation and walking down to Enterprise.Wont be using Fox ever again
Car was dirty and had a funny smell. Returned the first car and traded for another. Same funny smell but not as bad as the first car. Smelled like shampooed dirty wet carpet that had been closed up for months! Also quality of cars available to rent were poor and got horrible gas mileage! Spent twice as much on gas as I usually would of! Not worth saving a couple extra dollars, you’ll spend it on gas!
Didnt have cars available for rental when I came in, though I had a reservation. They asked me to wait an hour for the car. I was told I would be called but I was not. I checked back on a whim and I was told the car was now available. I am not sure if I would have been called if I had not checked back.When I finally got the car, there were stains throughout the front and back. There were scratches throughout the body of the car except the hood.Pretty bad rental experience. Wish there was more accountability.

Their prices are really cheap, but the service is terrible, so you get what you pay for. You have no choice in which car you get, so if youre not happy with the car, you have to go back inside, get in line and change the car with the teller. Their cars are always dirty because they leave the car windows open on ALL of the cars ALL time. So dirt, dust, bugs, moths, etc fill the car. Not to mention they lose the new car smell and become humid and sticky. Then they have unreasonable fees such as $30 per day for returning the car EARLY. I tried to prepay for the tolls when I returned the car because I got lost in a new city and accidentally went thru the toll lane twice, going and turning around. They said I had to call the customer service, which charged me $5 each occurrence, plus an additional $30 in administrative fees. I will never rent from them again. Sixt has much better customer services and rules.
We returned our vehicle here. It was a 5-minute process, super simple, friendly customer service, and stress- and hassle-free.Overall, it was an awesome and affordable experience. The nice thing about this location is that the car rental lobby was clean, organized, and easy to find. We would definitely do it again, and we would definitely look into renting from Fox whenever we need a rental in California.
Great service. Had a great clean Jeep Wrangler exactly as I booked. The deposit is high ($1,000) but I received the full amount back within 3 days of returning the car. No issues.

Worst rental car experience ever. 12 people in line, 1 agent, very slow rental process, only a Fox agent can let you out of parking garage and no one was there, charged $106 for 1/2 tank of gas, etc. Have rented from Fix at Oakland Oakland Airport and no problems (yet). Will never rent from Fix in San Jose again
Made a reservation online same day - needed car urgently. Drove 30 miles to the location and waited 45 min in line. Was told at the counter that they have no cars, and that “since you reserved today, we cannot help you.” Interesting business model...

Pretty good experience here! they put a $400 hold since I used a debit card so minus a star. I had no problems with the car rental and the service was friendly.
I wish airports would do a better job of vetting out new rental companies. Was quoted 2 hour wait with a reservation. Systems and process seem slow and dated. Quick wash of exterior, but inside of windshield of very dirty and caused serious glare when driving into sun. I may have fallen for the lower price, but the experience ensured I will never use this company again.
Avoid at all costs. Pre-paid for my booking - came to the San Jose facility right before the pickup time to find NO cars were available. Period. Was offered to wait 2.5 hours to see if one might become available. Refused. Was issued a cancellation and an apology (the clerk was really nice, but i assume he would not last there as he had to apologize the same way to quite a few other customers in line for whom Fox had no cars).The money I paid was not refunded after over 2 weeks even though the clerk had promised it would be after a couple of days. Tried calling twice - got the please call back later and the there are 10 customers ahead of you in the queue messages. Got the charges removed by my credit card company.Please save yourself the aggravation and rent from somebody else.
Literally the worst car experience I’ve ever had. There is a reason why the car rental was cheap and I should’ve listen to the other horrible reviews. They did not have the vehicle we reserved. We waited over 2 hours for a vehicle, which was longer than our flight. We had six passengers and had to cram into a small vehicle and I am still being charged for the large vehicle we rented. Also, reserve half of your day when you need to talk to customer service about the issues. Current online chat is 97 min with only 5 people ahead of me. Last phone call was almost a 2 hour wait.
We had a neutral experience! As others have mentioned already, we had to wait for 2 hours there as they ran out of cars on a long weekend. But the manager kept his word as he assured we wont have to go back without a car as all other car rentals were sold out too. And we got a free upgrade too. Overall we were happy to get a car to head on an impromptu trip. Didnt expect much from the reviews!
Pamela is probably one of the most friendliest rental customer service representative I have ever met. She is very welcoming and patient she made it a priority to be sure I was happy With my rental. Although there was a long line and she was alone she was very courteous. I am definitely coming back just to see pamela if in the area. Thanks again for a great experience.
Be prepared to have an extra $500 held on your credit card if you really a car from here. I did a lot of research looking for the best deal and thought this one was it until I was at the counter and was told they were going to hold $500 until I returned the car, even though it said online that I would pay $93 at the counter. Totally screwed up my vacation
Read this and you will save your money. NEVER go for this company. The customer service is worst in the world. They dont even try to understand your problem at all. No matter how much you try, they wont budge. Once youve made the payment, youre dead to them. At the time of picking up the car, the person at the reception made it hell to me. I was ready to make the payment still he was treating my like he is doing me a favor. When I picked up the car, no one came to checkout the car with me. I was told that the car is full but at that time it was only half fulled. Since it was 1:00 AM in the morning and I was new in the country, I was in hurry to rush to my hotel, instead of telling him in person, I called the customer service and reported about it, they said its fine and I can return the car with half tank. But at the day of return, the guy didnt let me finish and charged me immediately for the full tank. I kept on asking for the help but they were laughing at me. Some of them replied either its not their department or its not their problem. I tried to call the customer service, they asked me they cant do anything. Basically my money was gone
Taking my Son to the University of Santa Clara for a visit. Fox had the best rate for an economy car and decided to give them a chance. I get to the counter and began the contract. The teller ask me for another form of ID, I don’t carry two forms of ID. She ask me for a passport, I explain to her that I wasn’t flying internationally. She said that it was company policy that I had to have two forms of ID, that they had many cars stolen lately and they couldn’t rent cars without two forms of ID. Payless Rent a car teller right next to us said she never heard of that policy and she would rent me a car. I thanked her and I am glad she helped me out. But being profiled for a thief is not fun and never have happened to me and I don’t wish that experience on anyone.
I understand their rules of 500$ and 1000$ deposit is ridiculous but we were lucky to have paid 150$ deposit as I had a PA license and my credit card went through. It took time to get my car but it’s ok, made up for the deal. The car I got - Mitsubishi Outlander was just awesome and it looked brand new, cleans and super maintenance car. During drop off it was very easy and convenient. Thanks Fox
If I could give this company zero stars I would. Our work set up this reservation, and we used them twice. The first time we waited for TWO hours for our car, along with about 15 other people. No upgrade offered, and the two male attendants running the counter were completely unapologetic. We have a 7 month old baby....We finally got assigned a vehicle and we raced to get loaded up and make it to my husbands work meeting, which we should have had PLENTY of time to make it to if not for their computer systems delay. We had to rent a car seat. They brought it out and I stared at it, not actually believing that anyone would put their baby in a seat so dated and looking like previous babies had crapped in it without a diaper (I will NEVER go anywhere without our own seat again). I asked if there were any others, and they brought one out, but it had no base to secure into the vehicle. I was appalled, and at that point we had been there pushing 2.5 hours so we left with the crap stained seat.Only after we returned it did I learn that the seat is EXPIRED. They rented out an expired car seat. I cannot even...Now here we are again today, dreading picking up our car from this company, and only using it because our work secured the rental, and theyre saying they wont rent to us because we are not in possession of the card on file that is paying for it. Wait, what? we used this same card/method just 5 days ago when we were here. The same guy even took the payment. Figure it out.Not sorry for the rant. Needed to vent and encourage NO ONE else to rent from here.
