The customer service is pretty good, I can’t complain there. They were even a little accommodating, one time I showed up with groceries to get a quick workout in before they close at 7pm (hate that but that’s how SF is i guess) and the desk person let me store my groceries behind the desk. The two major things I dislike about this location is how small it is….very small, pretty cramped. And how early it closes…7pm and even early on the weekends. But still they have good equipment, nice staff, clean.

Nice gym, nice employees, was about to join but they require a routing number instead of a credit or debit card. By requiring a routing number it makes it much more difficult if you attempt to cancel your membership! Pretty sure thats why they do it that way..

I absolutely love PF .. this location however is very small, does not have all machines as other clubs normally do & the weight space is very tight.. i suggest this location extend its hours to atleast 8 or 9pm so that people can get a good workout ..

Dont bother coming here unless you actually live within one mile because there is no parking whatsoever anywhere along the streets. There is only commercial parking this 1 is not accessible its not accessible to anybody except for the executives or the people that work immediately in the vicinity of this gym this gym should not even be open because its not even accessible to the public it seems like its only for the rich people that live in this little tiny area right here

The most pathetic show of customer service just happened to me. I have been a member since the club opened. Someone named Kathy, identifying herself as the manager on duty, displayed such rudeness as to be utterly appalling. This person should not be in a customer service-related job. Shes just awful. I have been using the tanning bed since it was installed. The maximum limit has been 12 minutes since day one. The person named Kathy was signing me into a tanning bed and she abruptly said that the maximum is 10 minutes. She must be mistaken, I thought. I told her that the maximum for the tanning bed has been 12 minutes the entire time I have been using it. She immediately became very defensive to the point of intimidation. The maximum is 10 minutes! She actually barked dont interrupt me when Im talking. It gets worse. Another employee behind the desk at this time, his name is Matthew, has actually been the one signing me into the tanning bed since he started working there. He was hearing everything that was going on. I asked him to step in to help, and he bravely threw up his hands and gave his best I dont know nothing. Such courage. The person named Matthew could have easily diffused the argument about what the correct maximum time was for using the tanning bed. He had to have known that he had been signing me in at 12 minutes. He did absolutely nothing. I felt insulted. Shortly after, I called two other Planet Fitness clubs. I enquired what the maximum time was for their tanning beds. One said 12 minutes, the other 15 minutes. Hmmm. It seems that the person named Kathy needs to dust off her employee manual and review the section regarding customer service.

I want to report strange behavior from the staff at this location. First, today I come in to workout and I notice that a customer came into the locker room whom I never met telling me she trying to stay out my business and shes sorry, and then she looked in the mirror flipped her hair from side to side and up and down with no mask. She told me she was sorry again and walked out. few moments later one of staff members I guess! came in yet for the second time complaining about my mask she never introduce herself to be so I really dont who this person is. I do know she follows me around the fitness center with harrassing remakes and theatening throw me out for no reason. I seen this type behavior before whenever choose workout at fitness. I dont know why I am target to this rude behavior but I come in clean well dressed and do my workout. Ido not brother anyone or talk much there but everyone else does. So, if this continues to happen it looks like would file official complaint. Hopefully, that wont happens. So far, I give it a 1 star but willing to change it when I get treated the way stated on their video as a marketing advertising Planet Fitness.

Very convenient the price it good and they have massage chairs, bed some others brightening for skin machines too It is amazing amazing I love it.

This is my home gym so I go here frequently. The staff is very friendly and customer service oriented. The one reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is it’s very small. Plus it’s upstairs and downstairs. You would think being in San Francisco it would be a larger location. Still great though.

Great place to work out for the membership. All machines work and if they dont, they got a guy who repairs them unlike the Daly City gym. The ab machine was broke for so long I stopped going upstairs to even check. You can also most certainly tell the difference in how clean San Francisco is compared to Daly City. All the paper towel dispensers are always empty and nothing ever gets wiped down when there anyway. I do have to say that the staff is always trying to help and always courteous and polite in Daly City and for the most part in San Francisco. I just wished San Francisco had the room Daly City has and it wasnt so hot in the back rooms while using the red light and tanning booths

Great gym, super clean and hardly ever crowded . The staff are really helpful and friendly. Your not going to find a gym in San Francisco that has all the amenities for a mere $23 dollars a month .

Alright, where should I start? The Planet Fitness located at 417 Montgomery Street in the financial district of downtown San Francisco is the new location of the previous Planet Fitness at 350 Sansome Street. Whoever the owner of this Planet Fitness is, really needs help. They need an adequate social media and communications team because the inconsistency in their messaging is ridiculous. This Planet Fitness has announced its new location (417 Montgomery Street) for months before the grand opening. They sent members several emails, raising our excitement about the new location, only to discover that every time the new gym was “supposed” to open, it got pushed back. The unfortunate thing about the poor communication is that they “grand opening,” was pushed back four (4) different times before it opened. The new gym actually opened on Monday, March 2 at 4:00 pm, as you can imagine for all things Planet Fitness, it was subpar. It was subpar because, the gym renovations weren’t complete. That’s right, on the day of the grand opening, electrical and maintenance crews were still working in the gym. Several of the machines were covered with dust and debris, along with contractors doing work in every area of the gym. Now, let’s talk about the potential it has. The new location (417 Montgomery Street) is two (2) levels. The men’s locker room is upstairs and the women’s locker room is downstairs. Additionally, there are elliptical machines, the 30 minute workout area, and some machine weights. Downstairs has several different ellipticals like Stair Masters, Treadmills, and Stationary Bikes. There will also be a tanning area, but, it was still under construction. Overall, the new look is better than last gym, the branding is more produced, and the colors are vibrant. The new gym even has a few more free weights and machines to choose from. Overall, the best thing about this planet fitness is the cost.

The only planet fitness gym in san francisco and they close at 7pm. this makes my membership with them worthless since im only able to go after 7pm and im not willing to travel out of the city just to have the convenience of being at one of their locations that stays open past 7pm.

Be carful at this gym when you use the locker my gym bag just got stole today with a lock on I know is not the best lock but the point is the you come there work out and have some relaxing time will you work out now I’ll be scare to left something here because somebody been stilling stuff just be careful here thank you

The new Montgomery Street location is clean has ample space to get your workout done without waiting for an equipment.

Its a pretty decent gym for the price, there are a few new machines they could add but considering Planet Fitness overall mottos and messages, its not suprising there isnt much of the hard-core gym equipment you might find like a squat rack or standing calf raises or free weight bench press rack but for what you pay its definitely a step up, and since they cater to the casual or even inexperienced. All things considered its currently my gym and while I plan to move on to a bigger, more versatile gym, this will do just fine.

Used to go here last year. Quite a nice place to achieve weight goals.

DO NOT join this gym. They have been stealing money from my account during the pandemic.I left SF 2 years ago and noticed that they have been still putting charges on my card. I have called the gym multiple times, have send them emails to cancel my membership but they require me to go in to stop payment.I dont even live in SF anymore and I dont want to go to SF walk into a gym to cancel a membership during the pandemic while I am not vaccinated. This could put my life in danger.On top of that the gym was disgusting and I only used it twice while I was working in SF.

I had joined Planet Fitness a little over a year ago and was very happy at first. Then COVID happened. I had not been back since before the pandemic and without any notice, they charged me for the annual fee. I noticed this charge 2 days after it was assessed and 3 weeks after I emailed expressing my want to cancel the membership. I received no communication back and they proceeded to charge the monthly fee as well.When I called to discuss this, the Assistant Manager, Lori, was zero help and did not do, what I would have thought would be a common courtesy, to attempt to process a refund. It clearly states it in the contract, I signed the contract over a year ago....Very disappointed and would not recommend Planet Fitness SF on Montgomery to anyone.

They make it very difficult to cancel the membership. And I was charged for the annual fee even after I canceled my membership. After I followed the instruction to submit to an inquiry on their website to ask for refund, I got email saying please contact the staff or management at your home club location. As each Planet Fitness is an independently owned and operated franchise, this office has limited access to a member’s information, including billing. But the local staff told me he cant help, I have to submit an inquiry online. So nobody is going to do anything about it.

Belonged there awhile back. The equipment was great and up to date and the staff was extremely cool and nice.Especially had a special strong bond with Edgar whom I really cared about, who originally signed me in the club my first day.Don’t belong there presently, but it was a very good gym and I’ll always have a place in my soul and heart for Edgar who I’ll always think about.. I know Edgar is having a great life and my prayers and all my Love are out there to him..

Great place to work out. The location is surrounded by parking garages with in three blocks. The parking does get pricey if you take longer then one hour. Each bicycle has its own tv. Two levels and several areas to work out in. The height of the ceiling is not as high as the planet fitness in Daly City but they maximize the space for San Francisco.

No frills gym. Not sure why so many bad reviews, but so far my experience has been good. It was quick to register, the staff seemed nice. Got a work out and got out. The equipment is all in decent shape, bathrooms are tidy. Yeah, if youre looking for a place to get in shape for really cheap, this place is a deal 👌

It is ok, but they make you take off your mask to take a pic for new members. Which is not good nor necessary. They no longer give you a tag to check in; you must use the app. But the app does not track any info that is helpful towards your goals. So it is a advertising thing. You must login before you get there, In order to bring up the barcode.

Unable to transfer my membership. They have a charge on my account during the COVID shutdown. I understand the gym being shutdown right now, but they should be responsive to billing problems caused by their own handling of the shutdown. Planet Fitness Corporate and billing department are no help. They direct you to talk to the local gym. I finally got a hold of someone at the local gym and he just shouted at me that he has nothing to do with billing and I should talk to Corporate. Now hes not answering the phone.

The staff are great, but its just kinda small. Theres not enough room for all the machines and equipment they should have, and rush hours feel especially cramped. That said, the environment really is comfortable for everyone to work out and improve without being judged.

I like it kind of small. Doesnt get too busy when I come in the morning. But at night it just kind of packed but still no complaints here. Im pretty easy-going.

We are traveling from Minnesota, we decided to stop and check out the gym here since we are already black card members, my girlfriend forgot her card but she was logged in and showed proof and the lady and gentleman working the front desk were rude and didn’t seem to want to help by saying we can’t look up that information when it was in front of their faces on her phone. She also seems to be on drugs of some sort stumbling her words and eyes were completely shut like she couldn’t keep them open. Not a good experience hopefully you guys will get some better employees.

Overcrowded, broken equipment, no yoga classes or anything like that. The Juice bar is actually just a fridge with water bottles. Staff seems very put out by gym members; seems like they hate their jobs. Were embarrassingly rude to my guest. Signed up for the BCM so I could bring guests, but they are not welcome! So much for enlisting a workout buddy. Bare minimum gym, lots of empty promises. In reality its pretty much waiting to use old, rundown elliptical and strength equipment. Pretty much bottom of the barrel. Also, cancelling requires certified letter, or in person cancellation also w/ written letter. Easy to sign up, not so easy to get free.

Havent had any issues with this place. Great work out every time.

Great Gym! Tons of new and clean equipment and really friendly staff! The price is right too! Easily the cheapest gym in the city. Im really surprised its not more crowded, but its not!My only complaint is space. They need more. There are a few more machines that they could really use there that they simply cant fit.I hope they get a bigger second location soon!

Came here for the showers. Was living in the shelter. Safe place for me. Use to do my makeup here too. Only ever used the treadmill for half hour once. They were so nice.none judgemental.

Amazing staff. You will find all the equipments that you need for working out. Their rates are super competitive. You can also ask advice to the personal trainers.

No showers or lockers. Can change in locker room but need to carry your gym bag with you.

Watch out for your belongings, locker room not safe. My locker was broken and someone took all my stuff (computer, wallet, documents). Zero control of people entering the gym, super unsafe. You pay cheap, but can loose much more. No willingness of gym staff to investigate and solve who and how incidents have happened. I just received a I am so sorry.

Why would you close one location before the other is even close to being ready? And their excuse: “that’s life”. So the membership I pay for cant be used, and the new location is tiny and cluttered. This gym is turning into a cheap joke.

The price is good. Quite a few homeless people come here to shower and hangout in the locker room. The weekend hours are horrible. The older / shorter employee running around makes all the members feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. If anyone tries to ask him a question near closing time, his response is I dont care. I want to go home! The other staff seem fine, but after multiple rude encounters with him, I cancelled my membership.

4 10 lbs plates. 8 45 lb plates. No decline. No cable machine. Very congested. This is not a gym for those who are serious about working out. This is an everybody gets a trophy gym. For people who are sensitive.

I just signed up and I love this gym....Not over crowded like 24hr fitness. Friendly staff that are attentive. Very clean with plenty of parking. The only downfall is the BBQ place next door...lol. I will recommend anyone to join.

Great place. Cool people working there but absolutely no free bars for curling,rows etc. Otherwise its a real good gym!

Great welcoming staff. The gym area & equipment well organized & put together. The womens fitting room was very convenient. Your able to change within the same stall where the shower is set up. Also the lockers are wooden. Tons of chargers & The changing room has lots of mirrors. Like a BIG Vanity! Great to apply makeup in front of after your workout & shower. The gym is located in a great location too. I gave it 4 stars because its missing the wave bed like the rest of their locations.

This gym is a pretty decent place to work out. The main downside is the absence of barbells, so no barbell bench press, dead lifts, etc. There are free weights, the machines are all in great shape, and there are a ton of treadmills. The weekend hours kind of suck (open until 5 on Saturdays, 3 on Sundays).

A good and clean gym with multiple levels. The staff have always been very nice. The atmosphere here is always very friendly.I love this place as it is the best place to get my fitness dream come true.

Probably the least expensive monthly rates 4 thats a lot of club workout center the staff is very polite efficient the place is cleaned constantly throughout the day the machines are clean always fixed running there are various classes that can be taken for free membership includes tanning and massage chairs the showers are private the locker rooms are fairly safe and clean also they have free candy on the counter when you first walk in the entry

Its a very crowded gym. You have to wait a long time to use the equipment. Most of the time people are on their phones while sitting on the equipment. Staff wont do anything about it. Its the lowest priced gym you really get what you pay for.

Is planet fitness in San Francisco downtown open !? Or is it false advertisement

Planet Fitness is a no frills gym but has everything needed to get a good workout. The cardio machines are seldom out of service and the machine selection is diverse enough that you wont miss any muscle groups. Some times people come in wearing non gym clothes and shoes, which always confuses me a bit... but it is a judgement free zone. This gym is definitely worth the cost per month.

Great location but this has to be the smallest Planet Fitness Ive been to. Limited selection of equipment in what feels like a basement. Prepare to stand in line.

Moved here from Phoenix and there a lot more things to consider when choosing a gym here. Parking is one of them. There are signs posted that Tuesday-Thursday there is no parking aloud until 7am because of street cleaning, and Im an early bird, I hit the gym at 5AM. I found out that the street sweepers are done at about 2am so it hasnt been an issue for me since I started a month ago.They have all the equipment of a big box gym and it is always very clean. Also, its pretty empty early in the morning. I almost never have to wait for a machine. Staff is friendly and the cost is next to nothing! I live in Sausalito, so I pay $7 every time I cross the Golden Gate Bridge to the city. Many of the gym memberships around here are $100-$400 per month, so at $60 enrollment and $10 per month with no limitations, this is the best gym in the city!

The gym is clean and spacious enough to get a decent workout. Bathrooms have shower stalls, blow dryers, lockers - typical stuff. Although they are quite small. They also have classes going on at the same time.

Very nice girl at check in. Overall this gym seems a bit dirty, busy, and lacking. Only two smith machines and no squat racks. The dumbells only go up to 75 lbs and there are no fixed barbells. My main complaint was that even when people were grunting and dropping weights the lunk alarm was never activated. Additionally i visited on Monday and was hoping itd be pizza Monday but the only treat available was a bowl of Tootsie rolls.

After reading the reviews, I was a bit nervous. However, I found the staff and facility really great. Miya, the GM, was friendly and helpful and kind. The showers appeared clean and in good condition; I did not see any people that made me uncomfortable, nor did I see any dirty refuse in the locker room or shower. Just people working out. Maybe it was the time of day I was there (Monday 12-2 pm), but I would recommend this gym highly.

Theyre moving and Im sad but the site will be bigger. Great set of staff as well.

Great gym, nice staff! No AC, but they have a lot of fans!-1 star because the personal training class always seems to completely take over the 30 min circuit room .. Making it so that no one outside of the class can use the equipment in there.

For the cheap price it is okay. Try not to get information from the front desk, on the rude side and they give incorrect information. These space cadets totally told me the wrong time for a gym class. Makes me miss Crunch big time.

Good basic gym with very affordable rates, lots of cardio and a few weight machines as well. Very friendly staff and classes available nearly every day for beginners who want to learn which exercises to practice. Great place to go get a good workout with other fitness-minded people in San Francisco.

Had a bad experience. They were all very relaxed talking about how I could try out a membership and cancel later before the annual payment was due and it was all super easy! Yeah right. Until I tried to cancel and they invented an arbitrary rule that said you cant cancel a membership unless its in person. I was out of town for the next week. Why didnt they tell me about this rule when I signed up? Because theyre shady. I wouldnt do business that way, and a smaller gym wouldnt do business that way. Large corporations lose their ethics in arbitrary rules, and Planet Fitness is no exception. Dont do it!

A little busy, not enough weights, there are always guys hogging them. Still nice though.

I joined this gym a week ago. So far it has been great. It is located in downtown San Francisco. Only $10 or $20 per month. You dont have all the commodities is other places but the staff is always very friendly. I fully recommend it to anyone that goes to the gym to do a workout and leave.

Help was over the top. Service was in full, complete overview of facility, human like person to guest service, and quick and very aware employees on alternate days on handling all sign up situations holding any signs of significance.
