I feel so lucky to have found Julie through a simple online search. I had purchased and was working with a local bridal shop on a jumpsuit, ordered through the designer, but wanted a skirt made to wear over the top for the ceremony. I met with Julie several times, discussed the style, provided a swatch of the jumpsuit and she went right to work creating the skirt we discussed.I recommend Julie for her kindness, attention to detail and professionalism. I always felt I and this skirt were the in the best hands. It wasnt as easy task to try to match the skirt to the jumpsuit as they were being made/altered separately. Julie rolled with it, was kind to meet with me at the dress shop where the jumpsuit was being altered. I felt valued by her anytime we met which helped immensely during what can be a nerve wracking process. The finished product was everything I had envisioned and more.I hope I can work with Julie in the future on another custom piece. Her talent is truly wonderful!Thank you Julie!

Julie is an amazing dress maker. I reached out to her on a friends recommendation, when I started looking for a wedding dress. I quickly realized that I am not going to find exactly what I am looking for, while shopping around San Francisco. My (now) husband is Indian. I wanted a dress that would be a nod to both of our cultures: I wanted a dress that is white, but still has bold and beautiful designs on it. With Julie, we quickly selected the perfect fabric: white with bright fuchsia flowers. It was dreamy and bridal, but at the same time, somehow tropical. I wanted lace to be a part of the ensemble, and Julie helped me find the perfect lace to match. Then we went on to construct the dress together in muslin. I showed her a million pictures of my favorite weddings: my friends, celebrities, some red carpet looks... and with this nebulous set of ideas, Julie constructed over and over again, a concoction in muslin. She was patient, creative, supportive and kind. Infinitely excited about MY wedding! That was a really big unexpected bonus: with her creativity, and extraordinary sunny personality, Julie was able to pick me up during what turned out to be a stressful time! I suppose I am not the only bride to be overwhelmed by her wedding, but working together with Julie was truly a pleasure. While we were working on a muslin copy of the dress, Julie encouraged me to find appropriate underwear and the right shoes. This was good thinking: with comfortable undergarments and shoes, she was able to tailor the dress around my choices. The day of... I cant describe it. My dress was PERFECT. I am normally not a big fan of perfection, but this dress... I will repeat it again: was PERFECT! It was dreamy, a little bit sexy (but not such that I would shock my family), and 100% me. No, scratch that: 120% me. And on top of the beauty of the style, it was superbly comfortable. After a long day, it was as comfortable as pyjamas, but of course, looked nothing like pyjamas.I really loved working with Julie on my wedding dress. I liked it so much, in fact, that I still work with her on certain very special items of clothing. She has my business and she has my heart! She is meticulous, creative, punctual and fun! If you are considering having a bespoke dress made for your wedding, I dont think anyone in San Francisco can do a better job! She is the best!

I had a wonderful experience working with Julie. I asked for an ostrich feather reception dress for my wedding and she made me the exact dress that I wanted. She worked so hard to make sure that I was pleased with the dress even taking apart the top at the last minute to make me a new one and hand delivering it to my hotel. She went above and beyond to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. Julie has amazing taste and this showed when she gave me ideas for the dress. I especially appreciated her calm demeanor and friendliness when I was meeting with her. I definitely recommend her for a beautiful custom dress.

Julie squeezed me in for a wedding dress alteration pretty close to the event date, and was great to work with. Id been troubleshooting the fit of my dress with another seamstress without much luck, but Julie identifies the root of the issue within seconds of seeing the dress. With a very short turnaround, she made some adjustments that corrected the way it was hanging and allowed me to wear it for hours without having to repeatedly re-adjust.She also added a bustle that highlighted rather than hid the dyed fabric of my train, which worked perfectly at my reception. She clearly knows her dressmaking!

Julie is such a talented seamstress and I would 100% recommend her for wedding dress alterations! I bought my dress from BHLDN and wanted someone local to do my alterations - after a lot of research I ended up reaching out to Julie. I have nothing but great things to say about the whole experience. She was professional, fun to be around, had my dress ready before when she quoted me and charged me a fair price. My dress came in a few pieces and was a lot more complicated to alter than I had originally described, but Julie made it look like the dress was made for me. I only wish I could wear it again :) Thanks Julie!

My now wife and I had the absolute worst experience creating a wedding dress with Julie. In short, after five months of working with her, it culminated in her needing to come to our apartment the day before we left for our wedding to work on it. The final dress looked like it was thrown together after it had been remade countless times because of her errors, poor construction, frequent delays, and unwillingness to work.My fiancé doesn’t want to relive this experience and is little too nice to write a review online, but I want to make sure other brides don’t go through what we had to.And don’t take just my word for it, check out the other negative reviews on her Yelp page, as well as her old Yelp page marked as “closed” that has quite a few negative reviews. Looks like she been involved in lawsuits multiple times. If you want a long read, heres a preview of your dress making experience with Julie:My fiancé met with Julie five months ahead of our wedding and told her we needed it completed about a month and a half before our wedding, just in case. Sketches and fabric samples were shown, and Julie said she’d easily be able to construct the dress and started. Every one to two weeks afterward, they would meet, sometimes the dress would have progressed, and others, absolutely nothing would have been completed as agreed upon from the previous week.Fast forward to three weeks before the wedding - the dress was still not complete. Almost every portion was redone multiple times since she kept messing up. The last two weeks, my fiancé had to take cabs to her studio four days a week after work to babysit Julie and make sure the dress was getting worked on. We had to cancel all of our first dance classes, flower meetings, and she was extremely stressed and emotional. We had significantly less time to complete everything else required for our wedding since this was sucking up the majority of it.One week before the wedding my fiancé had to take two days of vacation time just to sit in Julie’s office to make sure she was actually working on the dress. And keep in mind this dress was very sleek, simple, and elegant - not anything overly complicated with many layers. The night before we left for our wedding, Julie had to come to our apartment for the “final fitting”. As you may have guessed, it was thrown together, shoddy craftsmanship, and uneven. She demanded payment on the spot after she claimed it was done. We had to send it back with her and had a friend pick it up the next day on her way up to our wedding. When it arrived for the wedding, not much was changed from the last meeting, fabric was unevenly cut, and the fit was off. My fiancé really held it together, and anyone not as strong as she is would have completely flipped. Everyone we talk to now who wasn’t in the play by play moments can’t believe how collected she was.Last week, we just got back our photos from the wedding and its so sad to hear how disappointed she is. Not only was the dress off, but now the photos are too. She has to relive that experience every time she looks at them.I really cannot stress enough how disappointed we are. Julie severally lacks commitment and adherence to schedules, and her rushed work and poor craft shows in the final product. Do not allow her to give you the same experience.
