These guys are great, especially if youre new to biking/e bikes. They have no problem explaining everything about the bikes and answering every question I have (thanks Andrew!) and are helpful with any issues Ive had (normal break-in adjustments etc). Theyre conveniently located next to Golden Gate Gate Park and will let you test-ride whatever youre considering buying, and they have loaner helmets to keep you safe. Will definitely keep returning for service! Thank you guys!
I got a flat tire on my mountain bike while riding in Golden Gate Park. Walked over couple of blocks to the bike shop and got it fixed in a few minutes. The price was reasonable. I was able to resume and enjoy my bike ride.
The bike mechanics do a terrific job. Super helpful with advice as well.
Good selection of quality products. trustworthy staff who dont have a snobby attitude. repair services are always reliable, thorough, successful, performed as promised.
Great Trek brand bikes to rent and easy location for cruising around Golden Gate Park.
Andrew helped me order a GSD S00 and assemble it. The bike and customer service at the shop are awesome. I had an issue with the charger for the e-bike and the issue was quickly resolved by me going into the shop for less than 5 min.
I have been going to Avenue Cyclery for years. It is an excellent shop, both for new bikes as well as reasonably priced repairs. The staff is especially good (particularly Andrew) and I always enjoy my visits.
I would recommend calling before coming into this place as it seems like almost everything is limited stock there. The customer service I have had while asking for things hasn’t been helpful or nice. I rather support other shops around the area.
Greta service. The employees are very friendly knowledgeable, and helpful.
Really kind, fair people. I went here to get my shifters cleaned out after they got filled with sand. The people at Avenue Cyclery werent able to get all of the sand out (understandably – the shifters were in really bad shape), and they gave me back the bike without charging anything for the labor and time they spent trying. Most other shops told me they would charge me even if it didnt work. So understanding of them and I really appreciated their efforts!
Just picked up my bike from a full tune up. I was told my bike was in good condition and just needed a little tune up, and charged me accordingly. Basically, I feel their mechanics are honest, you will never be overcharged! Its my neighborhood bike shop - where we always go to. Friendly staff, very helpful!
Great customer service, friendly and knowledgeable staff and mechanics, and very reasonable prices. They have gone above and beyond on many occasions, from something simple like cleaning up my bike chain without me asking to helping me file a warranty claim for a defective part on my bike, even though I did not buy the bike from this shop. This is my go to LBS, and Im lucky that its around the corner from my place. Love this shop!
Fantastic mechanics. They also take the mystery out of repairs. Ive biked for years in SF and its my place.
Excellent quality of work and customer care. Responsive, professional and competitively priced. They returned my 30-yr-old chrome moly beast to functional mint condition, and its been happy pedaling every since. Thank you!
Needed an inner tube and a helmet. Got everything at a reasonable price, along with very helpful advice. Nice store and nice people.
Not many shops left on Stanyan but I am glad these guys have managed to hang in there. Honest, straightforward service. Have been referring people to this shop for service for years.
Love this place: Very friendly, knowledge staff. Dont try to gouge you. Feels like a neighborhood store.
BEST BIKE RENTALS @GOLDEN GATE PARK!I dont normally write reviews but had an awesome experience with Avenue Cyclery this past weekend and wanted to share! My dad and I were recently visiting SF and wanted to rent bicycles to explore the city a bit. We checked around at the different rental shops in that area and found the going rate to be ~$30/day.After speaking with the super helpful staff, we rented two Trek FX2 bikes which came with a hex wrench and helmet included. The bikes were in great condition and were light and fast, perfect for riding in the city.Shortly after renting and riding downtown, I had some maintenance issues. I immediately called Avenue Cyclery and they gave me directions to the closest bike shop I could walk to. I quickly got the bike repaired and continued riding. When I returned, the awesome staff generously offered to work with me regarding the cost of maintenance and the rentals. They were super friendly, their main concern was that I had a good day riding in SF!Long story short, if youre going to rent a bicycle by Golden Gate Park there is only one real choice! The staff was great and I will definitely be back next time I visit!
Andrew was extremely helpful
Very helpful staff. Hired a bike for a few hours and had a great day. I cycle at home and have 2 road bikes. Hired a standard upright bike, which is vastly different to my own bikes, staff set up for me and it was well maintained everything I needed and needed to know was given and included in the rental
Incredibly friendly and helpful bike shop. Im usually someone who buys everything online, but buying my Trek FX bike from them was the best decision. Theyve been so helpful getting me set up with gear, fixing various issues that have cropped up along the way, been generous with their time dispensing advice and doing tweaks, and helping me order custom products from the manufacturer.Special shout out to Andrew who has been my go-to guy and who is always super knowledgeable and friendly. If youre thinking about getting a bike, dont look any further than Avenue Cyclery!
They’re always knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I trust them to give me good advice and I’ve bought everything from accessories to bikes from them.
Collin is a delightful member of your team. He’s very helpful and has good customer service skills. My interactions with everyone in your shop is always pleasant. Thanks for being here!
Really impressed with Avenue Cyclery. I had a busted gear shift cable, and they were able to squeeze me in and get it fixed on the same day. I think I got lucky that they werent completely swamped that day (so just be aware you might have to wait a day or two), but I greatly appreciate their hustle and the quality of the job and everyones friendliness. Definitely check em out! Shout out to Matt in particular.
Amazing and friendly service with reasonable price. Got my back wheel switched and flat tire done on a quick wait... thank you!
I had to bring a month-old $73 tire back after a flat. My brake pad had worn a hole through the sidewall and they didnt see this when they changed TWO flat tires a month earlier. They caved and gave me 50% of the purchase price ($36), while I was hoping for a new tire. When I went to Market Street Cycles to fix the flat last week (and buy a $50 tire) they identified all of the problems instantly, adjusted my brake pads for free...
Went above and beyond. Brian is a sweetheart who helped pump up tires, unexpectedly grease up my chain and explain a bit of the history of the frame of the bike as well as how the tubing size was off. Absolutely will be coming back!
The best bike shop around! Great prices and staff that are honest and fabulous at what they do. Nice vibe and good music too
My partner and I rented bikes here several times and always found the staff helpful and courteous. So when we decided we were going to buy bikes we returned there. We had solid, no-nonsense advice, and no attempt to sell us stuff we didnt need. Weve been very happy with the bikes and the service when we returned to get extras for them.
I bought a helmet and a bungee net for my rear rack here a few years ago when I did my cycling trip down the coast into Mexico. The guy that helped me gave me some good advice on where to stay in big sur, too. I was just back in town recently with my girlfriend and we needed a tool to tighten the trucks on her skateboard and we were nearby and after explaining the situation they didn’t hesitate to help! Thanks guys.
Nice and friendly staff. Ive been there to replace a pedal for a reasonable price. And another time just to inflate a soccer ball and the guys here have always been nice and cheerful like you can expect from a local bike shop.
They sell and service Aventon Pace E-bikes. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, and great customer service.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff and really reasonable prices. I bought a beautiful new Masi bike there for cheaper than anywhere online, and they gave me a free tune up. I go in all the time with gear questions or a small bike issue and they explain it, fix it, and charge me next to nothing. Love these guys!!
Your friendly and knowledgeable staff were always eager to help me get what I needed in my purchase from the shop.
Im a sophomore at USF. At first i was only planing to check out their prices, which range from as low as $540, but ended up buying my first commute bike for 640 (bike costed $550, rack costed $49, and $10 for kick stand). Amazing customer service, they answered all of my questions, concerns, then did the measurements, and even let me do a test ride around the block. Not to mention a free first time standard check up after 6 months for free, which would be costing $125 afterward. Im sorry if I talk too much about price, because im student anyway. Overall, highly recommended and wroth every single dollar saved.
Great selection - knowledgeable staff - reasonable prices
Good place to buy a bike - theyll take care of ya. Got my first tune-up free 3 months after buying my commuter bike. They also fixed my brakes and a creaking noise it was making when I pedaled pro bono. Very knowledgeable and friendly people working there when Ive been. Highly recommended.
Helpful, friendly, trustworthy - best bike shop in sf
Things didnt go smoothly with my rental bike, but Avenue did everything possible to take responsibility and make it right. Its easy to provide good service and make customers happy when everything goes right. These guys pulled off the much more difficult task of providing good service when everything went wrong.
These guys know bikes and how to fix them. I’ve had consistently good service every time I’ve come in. Thery’re nice guys to boot. Just got a new Bontreger Paradigm Elite wheel-set from them that they installed.
Doug is a heck of a dude for reaching out and being there for me when I didnt have my U lock to lock up next to the de Young. Their dog is party fun too...
I rented high end carbon bike at this shop. I am very happy with it. Great bike.
Excellent, quick and reasonably priced service.
Have to give this team 5 stars! Ive rented from this place twice. The staff is always very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
Purchased bike here. Awesome guidance and incredible, friendly service - they go out of their way to help. Our go-to place whenever we have a question or need some work done on our bikes.
Good service and followup after my tuneup. Got the bike fixed and learned a good bit too.
Excellent staff and awesome rental. Was a trek hybrid. Sf hills were very manageable.
My bike shop of choice. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Selection is good. Location is prime.
Avenue Cyclery is a place where I would mostly go to check out my bike things. The workers are very friendly and do their best to help. They dont hesistate to help whenever and will always welcome you to their shop.
Here you can buy brilliant used bikes ... for low ... or you rent them ... and they have always the right answers ...
These guys keep my bikes running at a very fair price. Top notch mechanics.
Great experience renting bikes!
Avenue Cyclery is pretty impressive. The customer service was awesome. I have always enjoyed riding bike as a little kid. I was here two weeks ago and asked for some city beginner riding advice. Riding through Goldengate Park was a great experience. Going down Highway one at Ocean Avenue was quite the workout. From where we were at Goldengate was about a 5 mile bike ride. According to Google it would take the average bike or 20 minutes to get to Goldengate. The person also mentioned a bike right towards Merced like would be a good idea for beginners. The bike selection was pretty rad. Although I didnt get an option of what color the bike was a gentleman helping us sized me up pretty good on the bike. 32 bucks for a bike rental that lasted three hours maybe a little more, for two people. Not a bad experience keep in mind I was told going down to the beach is downhill as you come up its going to be an uphill battle. Excited to get the ride started in a soon as it ended I was out of breath. Thank you Avenue Cyclery
Prices are fair and the service is excellent! Very friendly shop!
Great service
Best bike shop in town!
Great technicians, the bikes are perfect!
Great service.
Gave me a bad tune up, either missing or causing a problem with handlebar stem being loose enough to where it came out while I was riding.
Borrowed bikes to visit the Golden Gate Park. Technically great bikes, nice service. After driving on, we noticed that we forgot a jacket in the shop. Friendly email traffic. The jacket was immediately forwarded to us. And all this without even having to pay the postage! Thanks again to the team, especially Andrew ...
