Exceptional experience at a very reasonable cost for SF full service barbers. Hard to go wrong with a beer in hand while getting a high quality cut. Awesome hot lather straight edge neck cleaning, beard trimming, hot towel while getting your hair washed.. really good experience for a place targeting male clients.

I came here for a cut three times. Thats not enough to build a relationship, but enough to know it wasnt what I was looking for. I tend to like my hair a bit longer, so I tried to describe as much to the fellow doing the cut. But each time (and same guy) I seemed to leave with high and tight, which appeared to me to be similar to what others were leaving with. So my disappointment was that in three times having tried to articulate what I wanted, I ended up with something else. That said, the cut was of a high quality, so while I didnt like the style they did a nice and attentive job.

Ive gone here for my last 5 cuts. Ashlie helped me train my hair (which Ive cut myself for years) into a nice, manageable style in the lead up to my wedding. Easy-going traditional style barber shop that knows what theyre doing. Well worth the cost.

First off Id like to say Im not the type to ever write a review, however, I felt compelled to write this since my first experience here at The Refinery SF Barber Shop was by far the best experience Ive had anywhere. I needed a haircut. Im EXTREMELY PICKY when it comes to my hair. So, after extensive research, asking many people, reading many, many reviews I decided to call and attempt to schedule an appointment with Raul Anthony . I have been going to the same barber for years and Ill admit I was a nervous about having anyone else cut my hair. So, I typed the address on my phone and surprisingly it was very easy to find. I explained to Raul what I wanted and he did exactly that. Needless to say, my experience here was AMAZING. To anyone new to SF or simply just looking for a new place to get a dope haircut. I Highly recommend you to come here and experience it for yourselves! You wont regret it. Ive already scheduled my next appointment.

This is not a review, this is just, and just my experience - we walk in and let them know I am there for my 7:30pm appt. I was told Danny (who I booked for my haircut) would be with as soon as he was done with his current client, I waited about 15 min for my turn, but within 5 min Tony (the owner) asked if he could take our jackets or get us something to drink, he was so polite and professional. As I waited for my turn I watched Danny with his client, he was precise and attentive. When it was my turn, Danny and I shook hands, he was polite, I explained to him about what I wanted, but then I asked for his suggestion, he told me and I agreed to his suggestion, we chatted as he was preparing me for the cut, but, then he did not speak, and thats fine because he was paying attention to my cut. As the cut went on, he would ask what I thought about it and he would do or not do what I liked, there was no rush with the cut (since this was after closing time). I left happy and very glad I went and have Danny help with my problematic hair. This was MY experience and I WILL go again.

I work across the street from The Refinery, and I have been there now twice, but this second time completely sold me.Early this morning I booked an appointment for 11:00 online, and within an hour I got a phone call from Tony, the owner, who apologized and told me that the barber who I was supposed to have couldnt make it in that day. He then said that I could come in and that he would love to cut my hair.I showed up a few minutes early and was offered a delicious beer, not in some thimble sized glass either. I got the whole bottle. When I sat down with Tony, he apologized again for the scheduling issue, which was unnecessary, because he then proceeded to give me the best haircut of my life. He shampooed and conditioned my hair so he could get a better look at it (which he didnt charge me for). We then spent about ten minutes just talking about my hair and how it worked. He brought up a few things that have been bothering me about my haircuts and my hair in general without my having to mention them. We made a plan for the growth of my hair over the next few months--it was all very meticulous and awesome.Then he cut my hair. He didnt seem rushed, in fact, I was there for about an hour because he wanted to get it right. He ended the cut with a steam towel face massage and some instructions on how to use product in my hair, which no other barber has done for me in such detail.Im a teacher and generally dont have extra money to spend on pampering myself, but I will say that the entire experience was calming. It made my whole day better.I completely recommend Tony and his whole operation. They give a damn.

Definitely the best barber in the area. Rates are just about the same as anywhere else, and this is by far the most professional, well managed barber, with an excellent overall haircut and experience.

Friendly place and the guys always offer me the best hair cuts. Prices are very competitive. Cant recommend this place highly enough.

Its hard not to absolutely love this place. If you dont, you simply dont know how to live! Its an exceptional experience from the second you walk in the door, to the second you walk out. I typically get my haircut here after work and its such a relief to be welcomed by a friendly staff that takes your coat and bag, and immediately offers you a cold refreshment. Tony cuts my hair and I never have to give him any direction, he lets the hair speak to him. I have full confidence that I will walk out looking as good as possible without anesthesia. I always go for the Deluxe cut because I would feel like I were cheating myself if I didnt get the hot towel treatment. The tea tree oil infused towels are the perfect pick-me-up any time of day. The Refinery Grooming Club is expertly curated, staffed with expert stylists, and destined to be a modern Mission institution.

Had a great haircut (I’ a man with long hair)

I have been a semi regular customer and made an appointment a week before. So I called and was 7 minutes late. Well it was explained to me that the cut off was 8 minutes so my haircut was cancelled. Kinda shocked because they seem pretty cool there. Well guess I have to go somewhere else. Sucks since I own a shop down the street and like supporting the local businesses.....

Cant say enough good things about this barber shop. Tony is an amazing barber ( he can make even me look good ) with a big ol heart of gold. The attention to detail and professional friendly service made me a repeat customer for life.

Best haircut and shave I think I have ever had. Courtney Rhoades took care of me and was extremely detailed and attentive.

Raul gives the best cut. He has a good eye. I trust him to do what he thinks is best, but he listens to your requests, as well.

My boyfriend had been growing his hair out for 2 years and we chose Refinery because of the reviews. Unfortunately, Raul, the barber was rude, unprofessional, and didnt listen to what we wanted. He gave my boyfriend an uneven mushroom cut and a half ass shave. We literally went to a second barber shop down the block to fix his hair. Tony the owner was there and I was surprised he let us leave so dissapointed. I would avoid getting your hair cut here.

The Refinery is the best shop Ive ever been to. Tony and his staff are fantastic, I hate that I moved to Seattle and havent found any place like this.

So far the worst. I saw this place a year ago, it looked like a fancy barbershop, now it looks like a second hand store. S o anyway my partner and and decided to booked for a haircut, shampoo and beard treatment. My partner got a clean up for $30 but charged 35,and no shampoo cause the barber was runnin behind on his lunch :-), then,my appointment 4 days later at 4:30 . I got there and thwy said sorry your appointment was at 4:00, but we can schedule with other person. It just happens that I saw this person doing hair 4 days earlier, there was aven a hair blowing to clean the mess on the customer neck. So I was suspicious them:-(. And they are not cheap by any means.
