Same thing happened to us exactly year later! Flight 1774 Vancouver to SFO 7/9/18; We waited for an hour outside baggage claim. Apparently a third party brings their baggage to belt and they were delayed and had to be called by WJ attendant upon questioning by irritated customers

We flew from Vancouver Canada to San Francisco on West jet flt 1774 on 6/3/2017. The flight was delayed 3 hr out of Vancouver and arrived late into SFO. However, the worst part of the flight was that we all (the entire flight) waited over an hour outside a closed baggage claim area (3) before we could get in and recover our luggage. I and another passenger searched all over the terminal trying to find a WestJet employee to assist, but found no one!! If it had not been for the kindness of 2 young security guys, who risked their jobs, and unlocked the door to the baggage claim, who knows how long we all would have continued to wait there!This is no way for any business to treat their customers!!! We will not be flying with West Jet again!!!
