Awesome Martial Arts gym! My child is loving it, we moved from Japan and his English was lacking a little and his confidence. The staff here is amazing and well trained. My sons confidence has dramatically shot through the roof and his public speaking is A game now and on top of that his discipline and Karate knowledge is A+. In addition to the great at classes the gym constantly is putting on carnivals and events for the kids. We can’t think of any other place for my child to study and train! Keep up the good work

My kids have been going here for a couple years. My daughter loved her gymnastics and when we told her shed have to make a choice, she didnt even have to think about it: martial arts! I attended a self-defense course here as well and they are amazing. Attentive, but firm, my kids are learning discipline, respect, and even public speaking! My son has always been a little quieter and this is helping his confidence. My daughter is super assertive, but very small and I love knowing it will be hard for someone to take advantage of her physically. All in all, 5 stars - for the intensity, the knowledge, and the genuine care the staff has for the kids.

My 6 year old son has been taking Martial Arts at USA Freestyle for the past few years and we love it! It’s really helped with his focus, confidence and self-discipline. Joey is an incredible sensei! He is kind and nurturing but firm. He’s great with the little ones. USA Freestyle facilities a community for the families that all want the same things for their kids. They have great events like Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween parties and the Summer Party. All great events that the kids and parents love. Not to mention their mind blowing world championship demo teams. Do a search on you tube for their performances. They’re amazing! I continue to be impressed by this place everyday. Keep it up USA Freestyle!

This is a perfect class for my 3 year old grandson. They teach character building along with martial arts exercises and fun movements as well. They were very patient with him as he is very shy until he successfully joined in everything.

Great place! My son has been attending USA Freestyle Martial Arts for over a year. My wife and I were looking for a martial arts school in our area and heard good things about USA Freestyle. Awesome instructors who understand kids and teach more than martial arts. They have helped my son with social skills, learning respect and provide a positive environment for him.

We just started bringing our 6 year old and 10 year old this year. I was reluctant to join but I am so glad we gave it a try. They have all levels of classes and they group kids by ability and age-specific classes. The Senseis and other teachers are amazing with the kids and the older, teenage students work alongside the teachers so there are usually 2-4 instructors working with each group of kids. Not only do they challenge my kids physically, but they also teach and practice public speaking, hand shaking, goal setting, self-control, and more. The kids are encouraged and motivated by special recognition awards to read and do well in school. I have even taken a womens self defense class there. It has been an all around great place for our family! I highly recommend it!

My son started karate here about 10 months ago and has loved it ever since. He goes there for martial arts but also gets a lesson in self-control, public speaking, respect and perseverance. There are classes for all age groups and skill levels. The teachers are great with the kids and challenge them to be the best they can be at the dojo, school and everywhere else. Great place.

The instructors at USA Freestyle are fantastic and find ways to get through to kids of all ages and personalities. They teach them the importance of discipline and respect while managing to show them how fun martial arts can be. Our daughter has been enrolled since the age of 4 and we have seen significant improvements in her confidence, control, respect and overall attitude that has impacted her home and school behavior as well. The dojo provides for a very family oriented atmosphere and they host many fun events and activities throughout the year.

Our daughter has been taking karate classes at USA Freestyle for almost 2 years now and loves it! Very professional, inspiring, fun program... and they teach self defense, confidence and positivity (in addition to karate) in a fun and engaging way. My family and I just moved here for SF and I wanted to find a new MA studio for my son. He is very shy and has a hard time adjusting. My son took to this place right away and I have seen some awesome improvements in just his attitude and self confidence. I also love that they incorporate public speaking skills and encourage sportsmanship. Another aspect that I appreciate about USA Freestyle is their community involvement. My 10 year old came in looking for a place to belong that would accept her for all for craziness and give her an outlet. The staff was amazing and the kids accepted her by the end of her first class. She looks forward to every class and loves to practice the moves she was taught in class.

Our 3 kids have been attending USA Freestyle Martial Arts for almost one year. The instructors are all fantastic. They take a personal interest in every family and student, creating a very supportive environment in which the students thrive.

I’ve been staying here to watch some kids that I’m babysitting and I’m really happy that I get to watch them do some activities outside the house. The first time I watched them and all the other kids, I was really surprised on how they are all physically and mentally quick to follow instructions. I think the instructors are very hands on and a lot of students do admire them. FMA is the perfect place to do it!

Being at USA Freestyle is our first experience with the martial arts. The instructors keep the kids engaged during class and motivated to strive for excellence in everything they do. My daughter has been taking lessons for almost 2 years. It is one of the only activities she goes to without complaining !The staff keeps us informed of all of the extras they have going on. Our favorites are the tournaments, parent and buddy workouts, Nerf Battle and movie nights.If you are thinking about giving martial arts a try....just do it! You wont be sorry. My daughter has no problem looking people in the eye and talking to them because of the skills she has learned here.

So, truth be told- I was a little hesitant to have my son start karate lessons. He begged me for a few years to start and so I finally relented and signed him up for an after-school session given by Freestyle Martial arts through his school. I now wish I had started him earlier- he has gained so much confidence and self control. He has now been at the dojo for just about four months and the difference has been noticed not only by myself, but his grandparents and his teachers at school. He is gaining so much more than just the physical skills and strength- the instructors focus on public speaking, paying attention in school and community involvement. I could not be happier to have him involved here and cannot wait for his sisters to be old enough to start classes as well.

USA Freestyle has been a great experience for both our son and daughter. The have gained confidence and skills as they are taught in a truly caring environment that focuses on each childs growth. Great organization with knowledgeable staff who seem to really enjoy working with the kids. They use a blend of styles which I really like since it incorporates the ground skills.

This dojo is awesome! My daughters have never taken martial arts before and I wasnt sure how they were going to take to it. They have only been there a couple of months, but they have come a long way and they love it! I like that they not only learn how to defend themselves, but the instructors also take time to teach them about building character.

There are so many things I like about this Dojo. One of my favorite things to to watch the demo team. The students are amazing. My husband has done martial arts for years, so he really researched karate studios for our son before signing him up. USAFMA have an amazing program that is a perfect balance of martial arts and fun for kids. They really take the time to know all the students, are extremely organized, friendly, professional and reasonably priced.

USA Freestyle Martial Arts is awesome. It has helped transform my 7 year old son from a shy, self-conscience little boy to someone who isn’t nearly as afraid anymore and is willing to participate in tournaments in front of a lot of strangers after only 2.5 months. The sensei’s teach so much more than self-defense, they teach discipline, self-control, public speaking and lots of other valuable lessons. They keep the kids attention by mixing things up all the time between different drills to stretching to just sitting still for a minute. There are plenty of assistants to help sensei. They help correct moves and encourage the kids. I couldn’t imagine having a better experience anywhere else. They have far exceeded my expectations and I absolutely love how they have helped my son’s self-confidence, happiness, and so many other positive aspects of his life.

We moved to Bay Park last year, and our son had to switch dojos from our previous neighborhood. We were quite apprehensive about this, but could not have made a better choice. The classes are well organized, and meet the child at his/her appropriate level. The sensei manages to remember every kids name and has a great sense of humor. I have a younger child - and there are toys outside he can play with during the class. Both my boys never want to leave - they sit and play long after class is over. As an added bonus, theres several good restaurant next door. You will not be disappointed by investing in this opportunity for your child.

If you are thinking about martial arts for your kids, do not go anywhere else! Usa Freestyle has the best program in San Diego and is reasonably priced compared to most. The program touches on most martial art styles and the students have the opportunity to further develop their skill in some or all styles. Sensei Jackson is everything you could hope for in a teacher. He is fair, honest, skilled, genuinely cares for all the students and leads by example.

I am blown away by how USA Freestyle Martial arts has helped our son grow both physically and mentally over the past 3-4 years. In the beginning, he was all over the place. Like many 6 year old boys, he couldnt stay focused, sit still or make it through a class without going a little nuts. With the consistant guidance and patience of Sensei Jackson and the other black belts, he is now incredibly focused and confident. He has already made it to blue belt and will be testing for his brown belt soon. With each belt, he gets more confident in himself and learns more ways to stay focused. This is a great dojo! My girls have only been there a short time, but they have learned a lot. It is also their first experience with martial arts and they are really enjoying it. Besides martial arts, the instructors teach them about building character and self-confidence.

My 4.5 year old son has been taking karate at FMA for 1 year. It has been an amazing experience for us. My son is very active and very energetic; Focus can sometimes be a challenge. We have watched him grow and develop over this past year and have noticed great changes in his abilities to listen, follow directions, and pay attention. The instructors here are amazing, especially Sensei Joey. They have so much patience and treat all of the children with so much respect and kindness. I love that my son is learning to develop important character traits that are emulated by the wonderful instructors. I was unfamiliar with martial arts before joining FMA, but I quickly learned that this is exactly what my son needs in his life. It will help to shape him into a kind and respectful boy. I honestly can’t say enough about how well they cater to the little children and their developmental stages.

Freestyle has been such an amazing experience for our daughter. She normally is very shy and reserved,but after a while the staff and fellow students really helped her open up. The public speaking portion of class has given her the ability to deepen her critical thinking skills and oral communication.Physically and mentally she is continually striving to be the best version of her self. Sensei Joey and Sensei jackson know when to give my child time to catch up to her classmates as well as when to guide her into pushing herself a little harder each time.Besides Karate they also have plenty of community activities. It really was very sweet of them to give each child a holiday gift, host carnivals, self defense classes for parents,buddy days just to mention a few. My experience with the entire staff has been wonderful. We would love for our child to ultimately get her black belt with FMA.

My seven year old son has been going to Freestyle Martial Arts for two years and he loves the mental, physical and emotional challenge that Freestyle Martial Arts provides him with. Its not only teaching him martial arts, but it teaches him how to be in the world with public speaking, teaching values and other life skills. In January, sensei Jackson taught the kids how to set goals for the year and asked them to turn in their written goals. It was a great reminder in accountability to myself as well.I recently took a womens self-defense course with sensei Jackson and would highly recommend it to any woman or high school or college-aged young lady. I took a friends daughter with me, who is about to start high school, and she thought it was very helpful. The factual statistics sensei Jackson presented were eye-opening and the physical part of the course left me feeling much more confident in defending myself.

After doing Martial Arts on and off for the last 30 years, I came across this dojo. It is the most amazing place for martial arts. The senseis are so professional, with years of experience and yet very approachable. They have great methods of teaching for all ages. It did not take long to find a phenomenal Dojo for my then 4 year old to attend. As soon as we had our introductory lesson I knew we had found what we were looking for. USA Freestyle Martial Arts is the whole package. Martial arts is not the only thing that my son takes away from class, they also teach values, which carry over into our everyday lives. Sensei K and Mr. Watson always bring excitement and energy to class. My son loves coming home to Skype his Nana & Papa just to show them his, new moves. Highly recommended!!

I joined USA Freestyle when I was 3 years old and now Im 13 and joining was the best thing that happened to my life. It has made me much stronger and also respectful and disciplined. Sensei Jackson and Sensei Kikuchi are very nice and helpful and make the experience awesome.

My son has been taking karate at this dojo for over 2 1/2 years. The facility is clean, well maintained and kid friendly. The instructors are kind and work well with kids and teens. They encourage students to take leadership roles in the classes and activities. They not only teach karate, but they teach how to be a good person and a good citizen. As my son moves up in belt rank, he still gets lots of help and guidance from not only the instructors, but other students as well. They have students practice public speaking. FMA isnt your average dojo... FMA is a supportive, nurturing family! I cannot say enough about the instructors and students here. My daughter has been taking lessons here for almost a year, and its been amazing to see her growth. She has built-up strength, focus, discipline, and so much more. Every single instructor and volunteer is nurturing and encouraging. Good luck getting away with anything while youre there, because, Sensei sees everything! Everyone is held accountable for their actions in a nurturing way. My daughter has some amazing role-models, from her instructors (a few which started karate at FMA when they were her age), to other students, especially those on the performance team. She says that when she grows up she wants to be just like so many of the young ladies she sees. Even my 2 year old asks to go to raaa-tee cool (karate school) to watch the big kids and play. My son started attending USA Freestyle Martial Arts when he was 4 years old, he is now 8 and is a red belt. He has gained a lot of confidence through out the years with the guidance of all the Senseis at the dojo.The dojo is very involved in the community and are always putting on actives and events for the children, families and friends.Everyone at the dojo are very respectful, helpful and involved. As a parent the emphasis on respect, self control, detection and public speaking go a long way, just not at the dojo but at home and at school.

My daughter loves USA Freestyle Martial Arts (USAFMA)! Before joining USAFMA, we visited a few dojos around town and my daughter showed no interest whatsoever in martial arts. The dojo is like an extended family. Sensei Kikuchi and Sensei Jackson are encouraging, supportive, yet firm with young students; as are the other senseis, and the advanced students. Our son has advanced steadily, with their tutelage, and we look forward to his achieving his black belt aspirations.

Weve been using the Dojo for several years now under the Stars program and they have been very attentive and supportive of our child and we have watched her progress under their program and she has moved up to the cool cats kids program. The staff and dojo also put on several nice community events that the kids really enjoy, especially the movie nite. A plus and a caring environment for kids to excel in their program.

My son has been at USA Freestyle Martial Arts for quite some time and he loves it. He is working toward his junior black belt and has recently joined black belt club. Our daughter and son both take lessons at USA Freestyle Martial Arts. They have been students there for two years now and they love it. As parents we love it too. They know their stuff and they are so good with children of all ages. Although I always say my kids take karate, USAFMA teaches kids a variety of martial arts like karate, taekwondo and jiu jitsu. The lessons also focus on much more than just the physical aspect of martial arts. They teach important life skills such as perseverance, dedication, respect, how to deal with bullies and public speaking. The students develop great self confidence as a result. There are always fun activities in addition to the classes like movie nights, an annual picnic, a Halloween costume party and an awards banquet. The instructors go above and beyond and you can see that they truly care about their students. I highly recommend USAFMA!UPDATE: Both of my kids still go to USAFMA. They have now been there for more than 4 years and they both still love it. They have made some very close friends. I also still love it. Deciding to join USAFMA was definitely one of the best decisions we have made.

Our kids have been attending USA Freestyle for over a year now, and they love it. All the instructors/ sensis are incredibly dedicated- and work tirelessly with the kids. I personally really appreciate the time they focus on character building during each session. Karate is great as a sport- but it also teaches them character, discpline, motivation, goal setting, determinations, and pride. Both my kids are currently green belts. and my older son who is 10 is in the black belt club. He is so excited to learn flips and wants to join the demo team. Everyone at the dojo is friendly and helpful and they do a lot of community events to bring families together- like Back to School event, Summer BBQ and Holiday Party Awards Banquet. I would highly suggest you try it out- the parking is easy, they have comfortable seating availabel if you choose to stay and watch your kids and there is so much support to help the kids learn. The Adult program is fun too, as Ive been part that as well- so they have alot to offer families.

His confidence has grown since the start of the class. The class is not only great for physical exercise and self-denfense technics; it also teaches the kids respect, public speaking, family values, nutrition, etc... Sensei Jackson is a wonderful teacher and our son has great respect for him. The staff is also wonderful, always ready to help with any questions. We highly recommend this dojo!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I cannot be more pleased with their care of my son. As soon as the class was underway I knew this would be our place. My son was 6 years old when he started the classes, he is 9 now and continues taking the classes there going through various belt rankings. The classes’ size is optimal for learning and advancement. My son is sprouting tiny but significant new little shoots of confidence and this makes me inordinately happy. Having taken classes there myself, I can honestly say that the instructors keep an utterly consistent tone regardless of whether theyre talking to adults or kids, quite supportive learning environment. During classes, senseis (teachers) use active learning techniques to engage students in an environment where students can’t escape without thinking, students learn public speaking skills, become healthy and energetic. The school teaches the full meaning of traditional martial arts (karate / tae kwon do / judo), and self defense skills, as well as mixed martial arts including sport grappling. Progress is often marked by the belt system, which takes the beginner from a white belt through a variety of colors until black. Testing for each new level, generally every three months, is a good exercise in setting and achieving goals.Considering the school was established in 1986, it is very progressive and innovative martial arts program for both kids and adults. The location is terrific and the facility is attractive, new, clean and spacious. The owner and senseis here are fabulous! They are just perfect with kids of all ages. Instructors are young and can do this stuff all day long...seemingly endless energy. All the instructors know every single student by name. Through their unique system the school emphasizes the importance of Character Development such as confidence, discipline, respect, focus, and perseverance.Anyway, we are big fans of the school. It is a great place to whether enroll your kids in some new extracurricular physical activity, achieve professional level, or learn self – defense for yourself. This dojo/gym is our family’s strongest recommendation! They have a trial program so you can try a free trial to see if it meets your family needs!!

USA freestyle martial arts is incredible, I give it my hihest recommendation without reservation. My boys have been taking martial arts there since they were four. Though this Dojo offers classes for adults which are great, I feel what truly sets them apart is their youth program. Training focusses on multiple disciplines of classic martial arts styles, as well as jujitsu, grappling/wrestling, boxing, and even weapons. The instructors are wonderful with the kids, they are very motivational, supportive, and patient. Not only have my boys acquired martial arts skills, but they have also learned lessons and skills, such as confidence, self motivation, focus, and self discipline that will benefit them through the rest of their lives. There are numerous youths at the dojo that train and attend this dojo. The dojo is like a family, where the kids and parents become close. I have recommend USA Freestyle to numerous people and no one has been disappointed.

Some say it takes a village to raise a conscientious, considerate, confident, and respectful child. We say it takes a dojo. Not just any dojo; USA Freestyle Martial Arts. The Senseis, Black Belts, Jr. Black Belts, Underbelts, staff, and parents all create an amazing atmosphere where students can learn, excel, and venture out of their comfort zones in a safe, nurturing environment.Our 16 year old daughter recently tested for her Black Belt. She was challenged mentally, physically, and emotionally. She was ready for this challenge because of the commitment she made and the support she got from everyone at the dojo. We also made the commitment to stand by her on her journey. We rearranged our schedules, changed our vacation plans, and made sure she was where she was supposed to be when she was supposed to be there.As we watched our daughter test we thought about her journey and her progress. Before us stood a confident, well trained, extremely fit young lady. Seven years ago she was a shy, quiet young girl. She was more of a follower than a leader. She would speak when spoken to but you could barely hear her voice. The young woman standing with her peers testing in front of a large panel of Senseis and Black Belts was not quiet, shy, or intimidated. She stood proud, and respectful.
