Switched over to PLSC from Fit, best decision ever. Great staff (Brian is awesome); amazing facilities and location in Liberty Station; never crowded s as bd ample parking at all times of the day; upscale and clean; near grocery stores, coffee and cafes. Worth the investment.
Im so glad I found this gym. This gym is well equipped and very spacious. The equipment is modern and clean. The space is very vast, I lvoe how open this gym is. There is also a large gymnasium area with a basketball half court. The weight racks have light weights to very heavy. The change room is on the smaller side, it has all the necessities but can get a little busy at times. Upon checking in at the front desk, Emily was very helpful with taking me on a tour of the space. The gym has parking and is located in a shopping area. I recommend Point Loma Sports Club.
This post is definitely overdue since I’ve been a member for a couple years now, but PLSC is the absolute best gym in San Diego! They have gone above and beyond to space equipment out and create an amazing outdoor setup during this crazy time. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming every single day. The space never feels overly crowded and they have pretty much any piece of equipment you would want/need. 10/10 - love this gym.
This gym was very spacious and clean that I can freely move and do my work out. They had a lot of gym equipment that I can choose from and use. I had already enrolled in their session. Love it!
I have done a lot of gym/training myself in the past but i have never seen results like this before. Chris is a really good motivator and he always gets the most out of each session. I would highly recommend him to anybody who is looking to get a personal trainer.
Let me start by saying, I am NOT a gym person. But this place is close to my office and I had to do something to get in better shape, so I thought Id give it a try.Ive been going for 3 months and Ive lost 8 pounds, have more energy and my balance has seriously improved. I go 3 times a week and love it. It has a wide variety of machines and classes and everyone that works there is super nice, knowledgeable and obviously enjoys what they do.I cant believe that I dont have to force myself to go, but I dont. I enjoy it. And with the instructors I actually push myself to do better, everytime. And when you improve (even in a class of 10) they notice. I am inspired!Thank you Crystal and Brandon
This is hands down the only gym/fitness program that Ive tried in San Diego that Ive stuck to and for good reason! They have all the equipment one could ever need and none of that super macho vibe youll find at many other gyms in Southern California. This is seriously the kind of place where they make you feel like home. Im from a small town so I dig that.In addition, PLSC is clean, never too crowded, in a great location down at Liberty Station and offers plenty of classes and other amenities. The staff is awesome - they genuinely love what they do and it shows. Ryan, who opened our accounts, knew our names by the second day and makes a point to say hey every time my roommate and I are there. That goes for all the staff - super personal, super helpful and just all around good people.Long story short, if you live in the area and are looking for a gym - this is your place!
Im so saddened to share this review but felt it might protect someone.I had been a member for months, going 5 or 6 days a week. For some reason, management insisted on installing a large wooden sauna right in the middle of the locker room. There was no space for it, but all of a sudden there was a big wooden sauna with all of the benches facing the changing area. Not just facing, but literally 2 foot away. It was like a front row seat to everyone changing. Why would they put members in this situation? In any case, I - like most members - ignored the compromise of the locker room until one day I looked up and there was a guy in the window, filming me as I emerged from the shower and started changing. When I reported it, I was not taken seriously. The GM blew me off. He was rude, inappropriate, and refused to connect me with the owner (who is usually on site). Never once did anyone ask fore details (who/when/where). It was suggested that the sauna person was checking their email. I have a BA in photojournalism... I know what it looks like when people are filming. The Club also suggested that it would be unfortunate if the person was merely checking Facebook, etc. and being wrongfully accused. Again, they were speculating on a situation they never investigated, trying to cover their ass. Blame the victim.Whats really sad about this whole situation is the club always espouses positive vibes/karma in all of their messaging, but became combative and leaderless when called to act. In all their messaging, they keep implying that I might be wrong. Why would anyone pay for such treatment?
I love this gym!!! All the equipment is brand new and state of the art. I enjoy fast heart pounding workouts and the equipment is laid out in such a way to support this. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable. This gym definitely meets and even exceeds my workout needs.
I really enjoy this gym! Its everything I want in a gym; group classes, TRX, yoga, and cycling. I appreciate the cleanliness! The staff are very friendly! My personal trainer was awesome and so encouraging! I recommend this place to anyone.
Very convenient location with the state of the art equipment. But best of all, is the wonderful staff and members! Overall great vibes in the club that can make anyone feel comfortable working out in this fitness facility.
I love it here. Classes are fun and its never really crowded. The trainers are very knowledgeable and are always willing to help. Jess and Jaz are just a few of the trainers who make your experience here an enjoyable one.
So I am in San Diego for work and picked up full access week pass. This gym is great, got a great reception when I called to see if they did weekly rates and than when I showed up at the door by the first person. I have read some of the other reviews, my experience now almost done for the week has been great. Only one of the 4 nights has a male been working the desk and he was not your typical meathead. The GM was showing me around on the and had to take a phone call, so the founder who works out at the gym all the time continued the tour until the GM was done with his call. Was able to be part of one of the kick boxing classes and Abe rocks. Got a great workout and learned some technique. I will agree with one of the reviewers the sauna and the compactness of the locker rooms makes it for a tight squeeze. I guess playing sports through college I have been in worse and the shower stalls are separate so you are not in the gang shower around the pole. If I lived in SD I would be a member here with no question.
Male-centric staff all sit behind the big desks in the lobby and strut around all day while young females work the front desks and hostesses and tidiers. Good gym but management needs a wake up call on what they stand for and what kind of message theyre sending for gender equality and representation.
I miss this gym! I use to live in liberty station and I have a 3 year old so I loved and appreciated that this gym actually has a daycare. Not only that but Aiyana in the daycare is wonderful with the kids and my daughter loved being there😀👍 The classes were amazing, I did body pump and spin classes both twice a week each.. I actually had never done classes before coming here and they make you feel SO comfortable and unjudged and its a blast too! It would be nice if there was AC throughout the gym that was the one thing Id want different but its nice that they are so clean and accommodating with lots of towels and a nice perk is the mini fridge of cold, eucalyptus infused towels in the gym😊😍😊😍 Loved those after a good workout or a sweaty spin class!! LolAnyways, this was a LONG review but seriously I miss and loved this gym so much. My new gym doesnt have a daycare so its hard getting use to only working out later in the day when my hubby is home :/ Also they dont even have TOWELS at my new gym lol getting use to how non fancy and uncleanly it is compared to PLSC!💔 Missing the staff too, I loved them and Brian the manager was always super sweet to me!
Ryan and Jaz makes you feel like you are wanted there at the gym. Their top priority is the physical wellness of their costumers. I also love the size of the gym.
Great club, great staff, and solid equipment! The classes are fun and motivating. The equipment is new and the gym is super clean. This club is a all around A+!!
Huge, clean, beautiful upscale facility. Spin, Yoga, Pilates studio and a full schedule packed with group classes for all the members. Elite Personal Training Staff like no other club!!! Friendliest workout environment you will ever find!! Come see what youre missing!
All around great gym. Great customer service.
I have been a member at Point Loma Sports Club for about 6 months now and I am so glad I made the choice to join. It is the most clean, spacious, and well equip gym I have belonged to and offers a great selection and variety of classes. Everyone that I encounter at the front desk and all of the trainer are always kind, friendly, and helpful.I love how they provide both wet and dry towels. A nice plus. Also, the bathrooms/locker rooms are always sparkling clean! There is tons of nice and new equipment and it never feels too crowded. The early morning (5:15am!) Body Pump and Kickboxing with Nacho are great! He is really an awesome instructor. Its tough to find classes that early so that is really nice.I have also been doing personal training with Brittany for the last two months. She is Amazing. Great trainer, motivator, and really helping me to work to achieve my personal fitness goals. I continue to receive complements as I continue to progress with her. I cant say enough good things about Brittany!I LOVE the stretching room - great machines and quiet space for stretching before and after working out. Also, its nice to have the giant machine room separate from the giant multi-function room with the TRX, ropes, medicine balls, turf and tires. You can literally doing almost anything here.I still need to try the spin classes - that is next on my list!
Point Loma Sports Club is one of the best gyms Ive ever been to (and Ive been to a ton if gyms). My favorite part about Point Loma is their turf space. You can free workout with tires, ropes, kettle bells along with other cross training type of equipment which is near impossible to find anywhere unless you spend an arm and a leg on joining a crossfit gym, but even then you have to perform the WOD and dont get to go at your own pace. Very awesome gym and also very clean and beautiful too!! Gives you the feel of a private club but without the ridiculous prices.
I have been going to PLSC for about a year now and it is my favorite gym in the area. The atmosphere is great for doing cardio or lifting. Very new machines and mirrors everywhere. I also enjoyed my personal training sessions! Thanks Guys!
Whether your an athlete, yogi, gym junkie, newbie, etc. whatever fitness level you are at they cater to it all! I love the athletic training they offer here from the bootcamps, hiit training, and circuits. it reminds me of being on a team and having a community to support you through the workouts!
I have been with other gyms in the past but PLSC has such a friendly atmosphere with experienced staff and trainers and a variety of different classes. I would totally recommend PLSC to anyone who is looking for a great gym! I am so happy here!
Everyone on staff is super nice, knows what theyre doing, and remembers my name when I see them at the gym or at the smoothie place next door. The gym is always clean and they offer free weights, crossfit, TRX, group classes, cycling, and yoga. Great new equipment... Definitely worth the membership.
Absolute amazing club. I feel welcomed every time I come in and love trying out the different classes.
World class experience.World class friendly staff.Amazing gym and classes. Love this place.
I have been a member at this club for over a year now. Amazing facility. Has most of the basic machines aside from my faved deltoid lift and standing calve lift, so I still occationally go to my 24hr fitness for those basic needs. My only real issue is the unbearable heat and stuffiness throughout the entire facility. At times, its so over the top hot, I just leave defeated! And go run outdoors.... Large ceiling fans are effective so long as you are directly under them, and assuming they are on full blast. Otherwise it just blows hot air around. I intend to give it a few more months, and then I may just have to retreat back to my dreaded but climate controlled 24hr. Cheers!
Are you looking for a state of the art wellness facility and an amazing group of people? If the answer is yes, then look no further than PLSC. Whether your focus is Spin, Crossfit, Yoga, or Bodybuilding, PLSC has what you need. The facility is very clean, modern, and well maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and very accommodating. Stop by and check this place out- you will not be disappointed!
Cutting edge facility with top of the line equipment. Awesome functional training space, extremely knowledgeable personal trainers and staff. I love being able to do traditional training, functional training (Kettlebells, tires, TRX, powerlifting, battle ropes, etc.), group fitness and yoga all in one place. Easily my favorite gym in Point Loma
What a great find! I looked all over San Diego for a gym that would have everything I need and finally found that in Point Loma Sports Club. They have great group classes (yoga, kickboxing, cycling, TRX, Les Mills and way more) and a clean, open space that is never crowded and always well taken care of. They have a variety of different equipment: all the standard stuff (but the nicest, newest models of the standard stuff) plus TRX straps, a basketball court, battle ropes, this big tire thing, and way more then I could ever think of off the top of my head. So far I havent found another gym in SD that offers all that in one place. But honestly its all the little things that make this place a world above the rest- like the locker rooms that feel more like my bathroom at home then a gross gym locker room, or the staff who always make it a point to remember your name and say hi as you walk in and out. (I dont know about anyone else, but this is the only gym Ive been to where a trainer I barely recognized noticed I came in twice in one day and immediately ran over to high-five me and say good work. What?! Yes please to that level of customer service.)All in all, it has everything I could want, and I couldnt be happier to spend the money every month to be a part of it.
Most upbeat and positive staff, killer workout equipment, & they keep everything super clean!
Ive been with PLSC since 2/15 and I love it. The best part is the 5:15am classes with Nacho! Fabulous for us working early birds and now I cant live without my morning routine. He changes things up and keeps it interesting each time and the classes fly by. I miss not being to hit the 6:30 TRX with Natalie as now I have early morning meetings on Thursdays but those are fantastic as well. Each TRX session had me knocked out but feeling great (odd as it sounds). The facility is always clean with friendly and professional staff. Thank you PLSC!
Great equipment and clean facility.
