Clean facility, nice and welcoming vibe.Positive trainers around.I came for trial pass but definitely will sign up for membership as I enjoyed the first 5days already.Burned some calories and aim to burn more.See you again Chuze!!
Theres a good vibe here. People are taking their fitness seriously, but its overall still a nice relaxed environment. Super friendly staff. Im on my 7 day free trial, but plan on joining once its over. All the equipment is in fantastic condition, and plenty of squat racks and free weights, as well as 2 turf areas. Cant wait to use the infrared sauna, tanning, and hydromassage!
This gym can be crowded especially when most people get off work (4-6pm) but it has a lot of great equipment and the staff is super friendly. I dont have a membership yet (I can come in as a guest daily due to my friends membership), so I cant comment too much on the prices, but it doesnt seem unreasonable compared to other gyms. Overall, Id recommend it.
They like swimming, and it is a good environment for them because the water is not too cold. Despite the fact that my children can swim, it is safe for the other children. There was also a fitness center there that would be ideal for you and your husband. What a wonderful establishment! They stayed in the citys best hotel. When we come here for vacations, my kids have a great time.
Im not a gym person by any stretch. Id gone to a gym maybe half a dozen times in the last ten years before I decided that it was time to finally lose weight and get healthy. I did some research into local gyms and Chuze had a lot of things going for it, including that it was open early and it was a very short drive from my home. I went in to sign up and found the staff to be polite and helpful, guiding me through a process that, through no fault of their own, was a little more convoluted than it needed to be.Ive been going about 5 times a week since I signed up, and I can say that even though I definitely do not feel terribly comfortable in my own skin, this place is the right place for me. They have plenty of cardio machines and weight machines, as well as expansive turf areas for free weights and resistance bands (I think), etc. Im always greeted by name when entering and leaving, which is a nice touch.Apart from the staff and the amenities, the other gym goers have also been a positive experience. A major concern I had was with being in the way for people who knew what they were doing, but I havent felt that way at all. People tend to give each other space and seem willing to share machines/weights/etc.This gym has hydromassage, an infrared sauna, a smoothie bar, and space for group classes (although at the time I go, I have not seen classes take place), none of which I have used so far so I cant review.Ive heard parking can get a little hairy because its kind of a small lot, but so far I havent had any trouble. Your mileage may vary at peak times.Overall, great gym equipment, good experience, and friendly staff.
I go to this gym (almost) every single day and I could not get by without them! I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my hip and I need to work out every day to keep it under control. I appreciate the service y’all offer and thank you for being my helpers.
This is mostly a review of Chuze generally as a gym with some bits about this gym specifically.Chuzes no bag policy is completely without reason. No one understands it and what I imagine was intended for safety purposes actively puts people in more danger as a result of items loosely scattered around the floor taking up more space than if they were put in a bag (its almost as if bags were created for this purpose). The people at this Chuze are kind, but not quite kind enough to understand the irony of enforcing corporate rules that they admit dont make sense. There is also no dropping weights, yet they have bumper plates and Olympic platforms...so again.. Interesting irony there. They have squat racks, but no squat bars (squat bars are knurled in the center) just bench/deadlift bars. This is a big safety hazard especially as weights get heavier.I think to sum it up nicely, Chuze is a place that stresses inclusivity and safety, yet ironically perpetuates unsafe practices and ostracizes people who actually lift with their silly rules and equipment.
During the pandemic cleaning by employees was constant and multiple dispensers with wipes could be found throughout the gym. Now, employees are always at the desk being very loud or walking around but not cleaning. They seem to have lost or removed a couple wipe dispensers and the ones available are often empty. Since reopening, the gym is packed at all hours and the equipment is getting used and abused. Wear and tear is beginning to show in some of the equipment with seats coming off benches and dumbells missing layers of plastic/rubber. Although they added squat racks that arent smith machines, they seem to have lost adjustable benches instead of adding more for people who bench press at the racks. There are maybe 3 adjustable benches and one has to camp out to get a bench.
Great gym, managed very well and in a good location. Its a little cozy and not as large as other major gyms, but its modern, clean, and well maintained. Curious when will guest passes be coming back, though, as its a huge part of why I went with the highest membership.
I have never seen a place that will not let you cancel. I shouldnt have to give a thesis statement as to why I need to cancel a service. Not military friendly. Do not use if you are military. They had the nerve to ask for proof of orders to cancel. This isnt even a case of asking for a refund. Simply asking to stop service at end of commitment due to no LONGER BEING IN THE AREA IS APPARENTLY IMPOSSIBLE. They are predatory. They even charged during COVID when they werent open. But sure. Ask why we want to cancel during a pandemic. Worst place ever!!!
The people there are pretty good about wiping down the equipment, and the weights are usually put back where they belong. It can be very crowded during certain hours, so I was gonna give a lower rating, however the massage chair alone is worth the membership. Just sit in it for your lunch break.
It’s a bit small but all the machines are great. Locker room is very clean and employees are very nice and helpful. I believe this is the only place you have to make a reservation for but I could be wrong .
Great place I just wish it would go back to covid times so it was not so crowded
It was exceptionally clean and will managed even with pandemic restrictions. Definitely an upgrade from the 24hr I previously went to. There is a lot of space between benches and machines masking it easy to get around without crowding others.
Havent been there since before COVID hit in March of 2020, so I really cant comment on how it is now but I did enjoy it before and plan to go back ... nice place, not too stuffy or overly testosterone filled ... they have all the equipment I would need. Sometimes it does get crowded but like any other gym, it depends on what time you go. Overall I like the place and would recommend it
My purse and personal possessions were stolen out of my locker that had a secure lock on it from this location. I informed the manager Emily Green of what took place and got the cops involved so the cameras could be reviewed and I could hopefully retrieve what was stolen. The manager refused to let the cops review the cameras because she said they were closing soon and it would take too much time to review the cameras. I followed up with Emily the following day with updated information and she never returned my call. I can’t believe someone like her is running a business and I’d be very careful with your possessions here because the manger could care less what happens to your belongings.
Hands down my favorite gym. Especially the Mission Valley location.Staff is eager to help and always in a positive mood. Equipment always cleaned and up to date. Tons of areas to utilize too, wether it be their turf sections or studio.Above all the cost is unbeatable. $20 for a great gym that also had unlimited tanning beds, a sauna, and hydro therapy. Some hours can be busier than others but that’s similar to any gym. Still plenty of room go get a workout in regardless
I’ve been a member at this gym for over five years. I’ve never had any issues, the staff has always been good at what they do, and it’s always very clean. It’s a decent size, the equipment is always fresh if that makes any sense. Like, none of the the leather is damaged, there’s no tears on it. The handles are good everything is goos. And I feel like the price is very good for what you’re getting there’s definitely value
The smoothies are a home run always friendly energetic staff!
My first time visting Chuze gym. I was a Ghost with my friend and had great experience.
Zero parking, zero machines open, zero weights available. I got a seven day pass, no tour just okay here you go. Place is so crowded literally all the leg machines were taken. Every. Single. One. There were no free weights on the rack at all either.
Very clean gym, and youll feel very comfortable here.
I am 18 weeks pregnant and tired all the time so I decided to go back to the gym and I so pleased for coming this location Mission Valley not only is down the street from home and is only 14.99 a month, but Russell the gentleman that help me signed up today was perfect in every way, his customer service and attitude is awesome and super patient with me and I greatly appreciate that so much especially being extra hormonal right now. Thank you Russell and Chuze!
Come in work out your own $10 a month what else you need to know
I dont recommend that fitness, I had a very bad experience and they put unprofessional people in charge.Try it for one day before they steal your money
Great gym at a perfect price. Newly remodeled, the mission valley location feels like a day at the spa. With the premium membership( only $20 a month) you get a full gym, free and assisted weights, yoga, rowing, stationary bikes and climbers, and even cross training gear. The extra amenities that really make joining a no brainer are the unlimited use of infrared saunas, hydro massage beds, and stand up tanning beds (all brand new!).I actually am a member of the MMS gym the Arena, but keep my Chuze membership because of the ammenties and rowing, and because its such a great deal. The staff is beyond friendly. They rememberMy name and make me feel they are happy to see me. I highly recommend Chuze fitness.
If there was ever a trainer who makes sure her clients perform each exercise and plan correctly, so as not to sustain an injury, its my gym instructor. Her experience is extensive, but what she brings to her work beyond expertise is a real ability to listen to the needs of a client to help that person safely reach her goals. Thanks!
Real close to work for me before the pandemic, easy to get a good workout and not too crowded when i would go here, however this was before covid, not sure how it is now but its worth taking a look at now that gyms are back.
Great price and they always go above and beyond to maintain cleanliness. For equipment, they have everything I need and lots of it. The staff are very nice and welcoming. It does get a bit packed during rush hour but overall great value.
Great gym for the price, super friendly staff
Great staff that are always helpful! Convenient location even though parking may be difficult at times. Recommend to anyone in the Mission Valley area looking for an inexpensive gym with a great staff!
Great gym in my opinion! Love the vibe, everybody does their own fitness routine.
This gym is clean and I like the reservation system they have in place. For the price of a membership, you cant go wrong signing up here.
It is an incredibly clean gym. Its open and running very safely and efficiently during the covid-19 crisis. The only downside theres no free weights so I hope you like Smith machines. Closest Chuze gym there is to North Park
Had a great experience Ill be back
This place is small... very limited free weights and the gym smells like cannabis. Customer service is alright. They however don’t care if people wear masks here. Not coming back to this location. Santee location is cleaner and better!
Even before the pandemic and this gem always kept their establishment squeaky clean. They have upheld their standards and I feel comfortable working out within this gym during this crazy time.
The best gym in town
CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU TOMORROW! 3 months away from you has been too long! Love this gym so much.. it can get crowded but its always clean, gym-goers are nice and staff is helpful.
This fitness center is amazing. All of the equipment you need to begin working out or get serious about it. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. The center is clean and organized. I would enjoy it more if the members interacted more, but that is each persons decision. It is a great price for a great gym!! I live downtown and still choose Chuze!
Gym is horrible. They moved to the outside, which is on a hill! Its over crowded and has very limited equipment
Staff is extremely nice and the place is kept extremely clean. Not as well equipped as the la mesa one but I have almost never been disappointed by that.Update 3/15: they have now added a ton of squat racks and platforms for Olympic lifts and deadlifting. Best equiped chuze in the city
Nice and clean, wipes on deck to prevent covid. Not that packed at all hrs
Why are hours still cut?? It’s been almost a year and they are still cut. I wouldn’t mind much, but you have to reserve a spot now, so it just doesn’t make sense. Good job otherwise, but on this you guys seem stingy as heck
Mission valley chews is awesome excellent customer service everything is spotless clean
Great place to start if you havent been to a gym in a while. Very comfortable for me to get back into it. No pressure from the associates great attitude and I m very happy with the deals available, Im taking advantage of the free 7 day trial before I join
Not enough weights but place are clean and beautiful. But equipment are already damaged. Half of this guys that works out does not know how to lift weights properly only with there EGO!
This is a nice little gym. I liked it and was interested in joining. But, they were NOT enforcing mask use inside the gym. I asked a supervisor about it and was basically given a b.s. answer. People were doing entire workouts without a mask and no one was wiping machines down or cleaning. For me, I take covid seriously, and was very displeased with their apparent position on masks. They said they were not going to police their members.
Very clean with an amazing staff
Nice people
Chuze fitness mission valley is spacious, clean and safe.Their parking lot is somewhat large to accommodate most people. Their machines are fairly new and people are genuinely nice. Definitely recommend this gym for someone starting out since staff is friendly and its not overwhelming
This place seems really clean. The staff was friendly. It seemed pretty packed. The hours and location are convenient. I cant wait to check out the classes next!
The staff here is unprofessional. Last night for example the tall Caucasian guy working there was hanging out behind the desk without a mask on. Then the short girl there wears an offensive mask.Another member complained that a guy is working out there without his mask on and neither of those 2 cared to address the person even though everywhere are signs that say masks required....sloppy staff
Definitely not the best place! Staff is not always friendly and at our location in mission valley San Diego, the sauna has been broken for at least a month. When I asked why it was not fixed, I have been told it’s because only 1 person was working on fixing it. I’m sure they are making enough money to pay at least 2 people to get it fixed faster. Then I asked if I would get a refund, since I pay for the premium plan, and I don’t get the premium service for at least a month, and get charge just the regular price. The staff looked at me and laughed at me, and telling me NO. So I’m paying for a premium plan, and don’t get the premium service, and they just don’t care... great service!
Highly recommend this particular gym. Very clean and motivational. The staff is over the top. Relax you will not regret!!
Great Location, been going here for almost 2 yrs, love the staff, strong interaction, upbeat environment. Im happy to have met everyone here in establishing a network and building a ever lasting, long-term strong rapport since day 1. I plan on staying with this gym location in the long run. Keep up the great work everyone in everything that you do. Another group I would I like to add as a family
Affordable rates, recently renovated and looking great! (Way better than Mission Valley 24 Hour Fitness). The staff is really friendly and always greets members. Hydro massage, tanning, sauna, classes and free guest admission comes with the premium membership ($20/mo.). The only downside for me is that it typically gets super crowded from 4-7:30pm during the week and parking can be a challenge during those times.
This is such an awesome gym! The customer service and friendliness of the staff are unparalleled and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome when you come to work out. The facility is very clean and has an impressive variety and number of machines (cardio, machines, free weights, etc) as well as some other cool areas (class room, turf, workout circuit, etc). I am also very impressed with and appreciate the safety measures they have implemented due to COVID. There are ample hand sanitizer and wipe stations throughout the gym and masks are required for entry. Overall, Im really impressed with this location due to the staff, equipment, and cleanliness! For ~$15 a month its a pretty much unbeatable deal. I absolutely love this gym and am so happy to have found it!
Super clean gym, especially mission valley. Never have to wait to use equipment. For $20 a month you get hydro massage, tanning, sauna and unlimited classes PLUS you can bring a guest to work out each time... thats a win win situation.
This gym is one of the coldest I’ve ever been to. Six giant industrial fans on high blast at all times plus the AC pumping at the same time. Pretty counter-productive when you think about it. If you’re looking for a good burn and wanting to sweat, this definitely isn’t the place for you. I’ve brought this up to management multiple times but I think they are more concerned about their employees than their members who are trying to get a good workout.
This is a great Chuze fitness location. The gym is super clean and the staff are beyond friendly. They have a multitude of machines and free weights, a laser sauna, and water massage beds. They offer classes that are free with membership and have showers and temporary lockers as well. I recommend this location to anyone. The only downside is that when it’s busy, parking gets kinda tight.
Parking sucks during the busy hours. If youre trying to make it to the 5pm class (1st class of the evening), expect to drive around for 5-10 minutes just looking for parking. And the spots are ridiculously tiny, I dont get it. Its really wasteful since no one can fit there. However, the gym itself is pretty rad. Cheapest membership is $10, for $20 you get pretty much unlimited access. The classes are pretty good and the infared sauna is the best to relax in after a workout. If youre already sweaty, might as well continue sweating it out! Theres also water massage and tanning stations. My only issue with the gym is the lack of classes offered during the middle of the day, Friday nights, and weekends. It would be nice to have more class time options. But for $20, totally dig this place.
Very clean, lots of equipment. Awesome staff. Showers and lockers are well kept. However my only issue is that the gyms motto is to attract new people to workout without all the intimidation from the big guys at other gyms. This is not the place to feel comfortable IF you are under those circumstances. Big guys are just paying less.
$10 day pass to check out this awesome gym!The two guys working the front desk were friendly and proud of the gym they worked for. They have an awesome selection of leg machines, which include a hip thrust machine, vertical leg press, squat racks and much more.
The only location with a smoothie bar. The parking kinda sucks cause you gotta park in weird small spaces or you gotta find a place behind the hotel or this building, but they have a smoothie bar. Sure its smaller than all the other locations and theyre not allowing you to be as wild as you might be in other chuze gyms but the smoothies are really good and you can still work out so thats all you really need
It’s a nice gym. I enjoy the group classes. The Instructors are very good! The assistants at the front desk always friendly !
Affordable gym with amazing people. They do need more changing rooms and showers though or maybe its just the morning rush. Their smoothies are delicious! A bit pricey but a nice treat
So, I just started going to this gym about two weeks ago. The staff are incredible!, warm and very friendly. I have gone to other Chuze fitness gyms in the past, including Golds, EOS, and 24 hour. this gym, at this location is by far the best gym I have ever been to. I have even told my co workers what a wonderful gym this is.
They will change the price of membership on you and not honor the contract price. Shady at best. Emily the manager says the customer is always wrong, that is a strange motto.
Facilities are clean and updated. Staff is very friendly. Membership fees are reasonable. The only reason I cancelled is because of the lack of parking. Its terrible. There are way too many businesses in the area and youll spend a lot of time looking to park just to go to the gym for an hour.
Great gym, all remodeled, new equipment and friendly staff. They always say hi and bye and always a smile.Unlike many gyms that turn into social events or cliques, this place is not that way at all. Just nice people there to work out and get out.Parking can be a little tricky though. Lots of popular businesses in this center and not enough parking though especially at 5pm, forget it!
Switched to Chuze from 24hr fitness and have had the best experience this far. Its cheaper per month, equipment is newer, people are friendlier and overall its just better. Only downside is lack of a true bench press setup and squat/deadlift station.
Thank you Josh for helping me feel right at home at my first gym experience ever today! You took the time to help me, show me around and that meant alot! The gym is clean, everyone is friendly and I look foward to making this my new habit.
Highly recommend this particular gym. Very clean and motivational. The staff is over the top. If you are switching from PF, do it. Its WAY better.
Awesome gym. Amazing price for everything included in the membership. I go with my fiance when she goes because she gets a guest pass. Good equipment. Only downside is the amount of people there. Gets super crowded.
I just started at this gym about a week ago, one thing I will say is that it is very clean. I feels roomy and all the equipment is well kept. Staff is nice and they make a killer smoothie which is a plus when you are leaving and need something healthy than a cheese burger from Wendys if you time it right you will find it just as pleasant I do and please dont stress on the parking they will help you with that
Dont show the road if screen is convenient and its in the neighborhood. Great assistance there.
Nice clean gym. Almost too friendly employees. But thats fine. Limited machines and the gym is sorely lacking in space and free weight stations which are almost always in use. Dated equipment is quite disappointing after several visits to the gym. But for the money its five stars. I give it four stars for the dated equipment and their poor choice in equipment. They could do much better considering what is available.
One of the cleanest gyms Ive ever been to. Its spacious and well laid out so I never feel like Im overcrowded, even during peak times. The front desk staff is courteous and welcoming as well! Would recommend
Ive been a member of this gym for a couple of years and its... Fine. Its inexpensive and the amenities are are okay. I was forced to cancel my membership due to a debilitating injury. I literally came into the gym to cancel (or even freeze) my membership on CRUTCHES and they still charged a cancelation fee. Its not surprising, but it is disappointing.
This review is for February of 2018. They have absolutely oversold memberships at this gym this year. There is no parking, ever anymore. It used to be just in peak hours that you’d have a tough time. Now it’s all the time. The weight room is so packed you can’t get a fluid workout. Constantly waiting for machines and free weights. I know that every gym gets bad this time of year but this is ridiculous. It’s a great gym, the people are super nice and it’s clean and updated but geezuz, stop selling memberships! Or open another location. It can’t go on like this guys!
Good gym. Parking can be an issue in the front....or just park in the back. I love the fact that someone has to greet you in/out. Nice touch. TVs everywhere, for the games of course. Lack of free weight bench press and squat rack drops it one star. Other then that, Id recommend it, especially for $10. (though there is a maintenance fee? twice a year, so its probably closer to 15 or so)
Good job everybody. Im very proud of you for all the good things youve been doing. Keep up the good work. Youre doing fabulous. Glorious day.
Ive been a member at this location since 2015 and decided to cancel my membership. The staff at the mission valley location are not welcoming or helpful and at times quite rude. I was recently turned away from entering the gym because I forgot my membership card. I provided identification and a phone number and still was not allowed to enter. I was told to download the app. I advised I did not want to download an app to enter the gym. The front desk worker was not helpful or courteous to a long time member at this location.
Are you guys still open ? If you are, what’s your hrs ? Let me know please!
Very clean, awesome that you can bring a friend on the premium membership. Tanning, sauna and hydro massage available. Large dumbbell section and many machines/function fitness but zero Olympic lifting straight bars. (Bench, squats and deads all have to be done on machines....) Also, due to location, the parking is awful! Staff are very friendly and locker rooms are nice.
Looking for a Clean gym with really friendly staff and great amenities, this is your place. Even when its peak gym time (5-7p), you can always find something to do. Low-key Gym, clean machines, sauna, hydro-massage, and you can visit any gym AND a helpful friendly staff for $22 bucks a month ...its a no-brainer.(4 stars and not 5 due to, no bench press, its quite small for the amount of people and you will have definitively have to wait for free weights space and limited machines).
If you feel intimidated by gyms described as meat factories, Chuze is a great gym to go to. This location has a lot of machines for cardio, weight lifting, and also has free weights, and fairly reasonably priced smoothies to nourish yourself after a good workout as you feel you need for your goals. Only reason I give a 4 instead of a 5 is that parking is... competitive, even disabled parking like I need, but it may be just because its January and all the New Years resolution gym goers, and as Ive been told by the people that work there, outside of January, they are even more quiet on the weekends so the parking part may be different the rest of the year.
This gym has been my home base for a couple years now (and wow, Im just now getting around to writing a review?!). From the price point of $10/month alone, its amazing. I dont need all of the extra stuff, just access to the workout equipment. They are also pretty on point with cleaning the equipment, I usually see at least one employee every time Im there walking around wiping stuff down, so bravo! I know a lot of people complain about parking, but Chuze members are allowed to just park at the Sheraton parking lot next door for free, and I know its far, but isnt that why we all came to the gym anyways, to work out? :) Great staff, theyre always super friendly and helpful if I ever have questions. I see no reason to quit this gym!
I joined this gym when it first opened years ago. Needless to say I didnt work out as often as I should have. Recently Ive been going 4 times a week minimum and remember why I joined. The vibe is great! The staff is always super friendly and upbeat which helps when you dont always feel like working out. Super clean, fun vibe and not pretentious. I recommend it to everyone.
Very clean and following the social distancing and face mask policy to the tee.
Great Gym, I like, specially if you go on the not peak hours you will find the equipment that you need if not think of doing a different routine that day. I just got some really good inputs from one of the trainers and Im going to challenge my self on that. Great staff always happy to help if you have question they will try to find the answers.
I got a free week trial (just download the app and you can too) and really loved this place! Good quality equipment and it wasnt too crowded at the times I went. As soon as my schedule opens up, Ill be getting a membership here!
5 Stars hands down for the staff!! They make you feel like Ohana(family)! Anthony, Kelsey, Marissa, Will, Amelia and Mike are flat out awesome!! Price and cleanliness are a 10!! I just wish a some weights were updated such as a normal squat rack, bench press and dumbbells that go over 75lbs.
I really enjoyed working out at chuze. But the one downfall they have is battling parking. It doesnt matter what time of the day you go its a war zone. I absolutely hate it! That is one of the biggest fails.Gym is great. I just wish they had a better parking situation
