I’ve never written a bad review before now. I usually save reviews for those that go over and above in their service, but this is one of those experiences I need to share. I’ve saved for the last year so I could take family on this fishing trip. I’d seen all the great reviews on Cap Mike and his crew and figured this was “our guy”. Long story short, we paid nearly $6000 to not catch a thing. I even prepaid the tip! All Cap Mike said was …”Well we tried”. Seriously!?? Our trip was cut 4 hours short so he could get to his next charter. Even his crew seemed pretty negative by the end of the trip. He has us buy Mexican fishing licenses and never took us into Mex waters. I’m not sure what else to say but Cap Mike is a young kid that is chartering a boat above his ability. At least this was the experience we had.

While Captain Mike and his crew were nice guys, we paid thousands of dollars for a 18 hour boat ride. This was my first deep sea fishing trip and I was completely let down. We didn’t catch a thing. They said the group before us was also skunked and didn’t catch anything. We were told we were going to fish in Mexican waters but we didn’t. We were told it was a 24-hr fish trip but it was only about 18 hours. The crew was exhausted and said they hadn’t a day off in months. They said they had to get back early because they had another 2 1/2 day charter booked. Extremely dissatisfied and frustrated about this experience.

A year of planning and dreaming of tuna has now turned into a huge regret and waste of money. I am a hunter of all things in my off time and understand that some days dont go as planned. I was truly excited for the first couple of hours hoping to pull in a tuna. I am not sure why we all bought the Mexican fishing license because we never went into Mexican waters! Their tactic is to find a floating kelp patty and cast your lines next to it, after the first 5 hours of this tactic not catching anything I was sure they would try to different tactic, but no. By late afternoon we would spot a patty and the crew would either say thats too small, or there are no fish under that one and keep going. Disappointed to the max. They boast on their website of next level sonar abilities, but that must have not been working on our day or something. I think the boat they have is set up nicely and roomy and the breakfast burritos and pulled pork sandwiches were pretty tasty too. I never imagined I would go home without fish!

I had so much fun with my family on this fishing trip. We woke up at 3 AM but it was well worth it!!! We managed to catch 30 yellow tails, they fight hard but hey, they fight= they get eaten. Not to mention: Captain Mike is very fun and informative. How is he immune to sea sickness?! Jason is a very good cook. He made the best breakfast burrito I ever tasted! Overall, thank you for giving us a good fishing time!

These gents were the real deal. They knew their business, they were helpful, responsive, and accommodating. Captain Mike knew the territory and helped us find the best spots to fish. The whole crew were excellent fishermen who patiently explained the process and helped newcomers like myself catch some serious fish. Even with the little sleep, everyone was upbeat, positive, and enthusiastic about the whole trip. I would definitely recommend this crew to anyone who has never done this before as well as experienced fishermen. Great times.

The Nomad does it right! I’ve been fishing offshore in SoCal for almost 30 years and have chartered just about every boat there is locally. The Nomad is a step above the rest. Not only is the boat a gorgeous fish killer and super comfortable, but Captain Mike and crew were awesome guys and very knowledgeable and helpful! Plus, we caught a ton of fish! The epic food was the icing on the cake for me. They’ll be seeing me again soon!

Cannot say enough good things about our experience on the Nomad. Took a group of friends out for my bachelor party and had an awesome time. Captain Mike seemed to know all the best spots and we could not stop hauling in yellowtail - plus 3 bluefin - including a 90 pounder. Great service (compliments to chef Humam!), huge boat with brand new engine, and the best fishing! Will be back!

What a great time. I’m hooked! My 11 year old son and I did an overnight fishing trip out of mission bay. Total of 5 fishermen. Boat had 2 captains (day and night). When the trip was underway, Captain Mike taught the 11year boys how to work the reels, tie knots, baiting etc. Sleeping accommodations were very comfortable. Started fishing about 530 am. Slow going in the morning, but that was short lived. The frenzy started, first with skip jack, mixed in with yellowfin. Then the yellowtail started. My son even caught a Dorado. We took home 7 yellowfin, about 5 skipjack, roughly 30 yellowtail and one Dorado. The food they served was amazing. This was the the trip of a lifetime for me and my son. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you Humam, Captain Mike, Captain Greg, and Josh. We will be making our reservation for next summer shortly.
