The staff was nice and helpful. Keep in mind it’s an additional $10 if you want a secondary driver listed on the rental car. They also require liability insurance to cover other cars if there was an accident and the other driver didn’t have insurance - they said it’s a state requirement - $14.95 per day. They place a $200 hold on the card which gets returned when you return the car, if there’s no issues. The pickup of the car was pretty smooth and took about 20 minutes. Close proximity to the airport, making it convenient.

Unfortunately I was unable to fly home after a business trip to San Diego. My family came down with Covid19 and thus required to stay in SD. Somehow i found Jessica at Pacific Car Rental and all worked perfectly and very reasonable. I was required to extend an additional week and Jessica made it happen. I will use them on a regular basis future forward. Thank you Jessica & Pacific !!!

I was charged an extra $50 for driving to LA from San Diego because they said I went over the 100 mile a day limit. When I booked the reservation, it states I get unlimited miles, but the fine print actually states there’s a 100 mile limit per day. It would of been nice if they mentioned this since I told them I was driving to LA.I rent a car once every month or so to drive to LA and I’ve never been charged extra from any other rental car agency, so save your money and rent from another agency.

DO NOT rent a car from here. I seldom write reviews, but this place felt like a con job.Ill admit, it started off nice enough, with a very helpful and kind representative helping me rent a car after some jerk ran a red light and totaled mine. She made it sound like a favor was being done by only charging a $300 deposit instead of a $500 one, given my situation.Fast forward 2 weeks when I go to return the car and settle the bill, and a different person is at the desk. Despite SPECIFICALLY asking to NOT pay for extra insurance (because we all know thats a scam if you already have private car insurance), they charged $17 extra dollars per day (on top of the $25/day rate for the car). Never again will I give this place business.It seemed like the guy at the desk knew it was a scam- I could tell from his reaction that he was used to people reacting as I did (with outrage at hidden fees that were about 2/3 the price of the original rental..ON TOP of base price).If you see someone with a sign picketing in front of this shady business, it might be me! Know that there are MANY options/competitors in the area, and I cant imagine that any of them would be so disappointing.

Another excellent experience with Pacific Rent A Car. The companys new location is smaller and along a busy street but thats fine with me. Every time I have rented cars from them, they have been perfectly fine and at great prices. Nice people who accommodate. No problems whatsoever. Not sure where those low-star reviews come from; they seem undeserved. I certainly will rent from them again!

I didnt know much about this company before my rental. While I was a little nervous with the timing of the office and the reviews, my experience was great. They were kind, answered my questions, and were reasonable for the car rental. I would consider again for offsite rental needs. Thank you for a positive experience.

Price was right. Car was an old impala so pretty basic. Odometer turned 109,109 while I was driving it. Very friendly staff, shuttle driver. Off site so you need to take shuttle to car rental base then call for pickup so allow plenty of time.

I saw cleaner cars on their lot, but they gave me a beat-up car that was not thoroughly cleaned with dirty seats and one cigarette lighter out-of-order (luckily the other one worked).The staff was courteous, but we had to wait for the shuttle at the airport longer than for on-site airport companies, although not too bad.The price SOMEWHAT justified the inconveniences, BUT they could avoid them if they tried harder.P.S. I forgot 2 pairs of glasses in the car, but they never checked the car, which proves their lack of care/cleaning/checking.Luckily, the next renter was a wonderful person who read my name on my cases with glasses and called me, then sent me the glasses.Overall, OK...

My experience with Pacific Rent a Car has been exceptionally good. I have rented twice from them over the past month, each time for 6 days. Both times I was met quickly at the airport by their shuttle and taken to the rental facility downtown. Both times the car that I rented was clean and well-maintained. I was charged exactly what I had agreed to online. I would especially like to call out Jaime for his excellent service. Overall my rentals cost much less than the big car rental companies in San Diego, and the service was more prompt.

So many hidden fees that they dont disclose until youre about to rent your car. They were trying to add on over $100 of extra fees. An extra $10 a day to add on a driver (which for every other rental place Ive used in SD has been free) and then you HAVE to use their insurance which was an extra $14 a day. Not only that they add on extra online fees. Absolutely crazy. I ended up just cancelling the reservation because I didnt want to give this shady company any more of my money than I had to. Highly suggest looking elsewhere than this place. It ends up being the same amount of money as a reputable company.

They make purchase rental insurance for $14 per day, which by the time that was added I could have went with a well known rental company and had a decent car. Also you have to take a second shuttle from the rental car area to their business.Would not recommend. I wish I would have read more reviews before going with one of the cheapest places... or not so cheap as I found out!

This was by far the worst experience I have had in my life, I travel a lot, and rent a lot of cars. This one was rented last minute, but i wished I did not rent from this place at all. The staff was rude, I declined any insurance on the vehicle, and they charged me for it anyways. i did a dispute claim with my bank. The car that I was provided with was unsafe, felt like it was falling apart, I was scared to drive it. When I made those comments to the staff, they never apologized or offered any sort of solution.I wished I read the reviews before I rented the car from this place. Everything that other people are saying is 100% right.You will seriously be better off renting from a different place, or just using public transportation. I have never experienced anything that bad.

I was a little concerned after reading other reviews, however it ended up being a great experience. Not sure if it changed ownership or something, but everything went super smooth. They didn’t try to squeeze any extra money from us. No online fee. Car was almost brand new.Only inconvenience was taking the second shuttle from the car rental center, but for half the price, I’d take the extra 3 minute shuttle every time. I recommend them and I’d use them again.

I decided to take a chance and rent from them to save a few bucks on a quick personal trip to San Diego. They were about $20 cheaper for a two day rental. The shuttle from the airport was a bit of an inconvenience, but the shuttle back to the airport wasnt that much out of the way at all as their office is on the way to the rental car center. The fees they quoted me on the reservation did not match my final bill. It was a difference of less than $2, so I did not fight it, but any professional establishment would not have this problem. I suspect they fudge the calculations on the reservation to hide their internet fee. The office is far from impressive. Their was a swarm of fruit flies right in the middle of the room and the letting for the logo on the wall werent even level. The pickup and drop off process went well, and the car I received was what youd expect from any other rental company. The only complaint I have, is that they gave it to me without a full tank, which basically means I had to pay for the gas that the last guy didnt buy, and that guy was probably charged twice what it was worth.

I wanted to rent a car for one day only to go to Safari Park in San Diego from our hotel. I called Enterprise and they close at noon on Sat and are closed Sun.. And the key drop site if I rented was no where near hotel so I would have to find my way back. I wanted a car on Sat to return Sunday. So the desk clerk at the hotel recommended Pacific Rent-A-Car. I called them, they were open weekends. They picked us up at our hotel Saturday morning, had a car waiting for us and off we went. There was none of the insurance push that the big companies hassle you with. Had no trouble with the car. Took it back on Sunday and did not have to wait to be driven back to my hotel. The charge was exactly what they said it would be $29.99 a day plus tax. Everyone there was great. Polite, punctual and reliable

I was very skeptical of this place based on the google reviews. But I rented a car from them for several days. Yes, it was high mileage and there were a few minor scrapes on the vehicle, but it was clean and functioned just fine. I had no problems whatsoever with the billing/costs/rental process.

Would give ZERO STARS if I could. Never ever again. Like nearly everyone else I missed to read the reviews online and got in trouble with this company. Do yourself a favor, pay 10$ more but have a real company with real customer service.I booked a car for my San Diego trip. I had a medical emergency and had to cancel my entire trip. The airline and hotels were accomodating and I provided evidence about the emergency from my doctor.I first wrote an email to this company but they did not even bother to give a response. The guys on the phone were just rude and the excuse was that a fee would be deducted automatically. There are zero exceptions to this fee. Which is 40% of the entire week. This is just money making because they will double rent the car.I suggested a credit (since I will re-book the trip) or reduction of the fee instead - they stayed unfriendly and just repeated one sentence.I am aware that there is a policy with the purpose to prevent random reservations. In my case it is a proven medical emergency. In the end you only see the quality of a company when you are in trouble or need the customer service. Giving 5 stars just because nothing happened is always easy. This is an example of a company where you can not expect any customer service and any help in case anything goes not as planned.In had great customer service in the past when I ran into issues. This company: Never again!! They are the cheapest but in every aspect. Pay just 10$ more and save yourself hassles.

An excellent experience from start to finish. My hotel recommended this company because they come pick you up, which was great. The cars were new, clean, and had low mileage (mine had less than 3000 on it). Vincent and Shawn were extremely helpful and gave me some tips on places to visit. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to friends.This place is under new management.

Zero starts if possible. Do not make the same mistake I did about not reading the reviews. Safe your time and mind because this company will make you lose both.I rented a car from them and had it for two days when the engine light showed up, hence ruining the whole day that was planned. I took it back to their shop and exchanged it and it looked like a very smooth transaction (they did not say anything at all). But days later after returning the returning the car and finalizing this business with them, they charged me with gas charges from the car I exchanged. In my opinion they should have at least said something when I returned the car and was waiting for the other. In fact, they should actually be ashamed of their car failing.I tried to reason with them through phone and emails and got nowhere. They do not care about their customers. Do not get yourself into this. It is not worthy.

The worst place to rent a car. I have been charged $250 extra. I called many time for the reason i am charged, they tell me to come tomorrow and talk to manager. When i come onsite the manager is not there. Been a few day this is happening and i am getting frustrated!!! I didnt see the reviews before i rented. Otherwise i would have never rented from this place. Stay away!!! Old cars. I was given a van that had 150K on it already.

BEWARE!!! We rented a car for our Spring Break trip to San Diego. We were impressed with the prices and service until we got home. A month later, I had $250 taken from my account without my knowledge. When I called them to inquire about this, they said it was because we had toll evasion fees. We are from Utah and dont have toll roads so we had no idea about this. We assumed if we were to pay a toll, we would come across a toll booth. I feel like as out of towners they could have made us aware or given us a heads up. We would have happily paid the toll fees if we knew about them. They werent willing to bend or work with us on this issue. I wont use their services again and I will spread the word. A $168 car rental ended up costing me over $400. I feel like they are just scamming us out of our money!! I wouldnt have given them one star but it made me do one to post the review!

Okay if money is main factor and time is not an issue. Airport transportation takes you to Rental lot. At this lot, another van takes you to Pacific. It took us almost 2 hours before we had the car and could be on our way. It is close to airport but too much dinking around! Before you could leave with car, you had to go around and take pictures of all the current damage on the car and they wrote it all down.I did not want this extra hassle in retuning car so we returned it early the night before and stayed at a hotel with airport transportation which was a 5 min walk from car rental (10 min ride to airport from hotel which meant 2 more hours of sleep time). Because we dropped it off after they closed at 7pm, we were charged an extra $16 which I do not feel is fair.They did have the best rental rate but I think if I made car reservations sooner, I would have found a better option. All in all, I would consider them again if time was not an issue regarding our air flight and rate was significantly lower than others. But...I would gladly pay $50 more for a car with better Customer Service and less hassle

When I made the reservation, it indicated unlimited mileage. Upon check-out, Pacific indicated that I had only 100 miles per day as I was a local renter. This information was buried in the fine print. Then, when cancelling the reservation, which I had not taken possession of the car, they charged me one day of rental, before Id even rented. They could have easily sent me on my way without charging me 1 day of the rental, but chose not to. I wont be using these clowns again.

No one showed up to pick us up from the Rental Car Center at the airport. I had referred 3 other people in my group to rent from this company. We all called prior to landing to confirm and called that evening and no one was at the location. Left message and an email and still have not heard back from anyone. Very poor customer service. Lucky us we all rented from another renal company at the Car Rental Center.

Really sketchy and strange. Cheap, sure, but as a woman traveling alone, I got very worried to call a guy from a number on a sign and wait for him to pick me up. When I called, he was rude and did not explain. So I decided I was going to cancel and use another service. I was willing to pay the cancellation fee, in order to feel safe. Same guy answered and was very annoyed that I wanted to cancel, wanted a reason and told me “it doesn’t make sense!” I told him I just want to cancel, it’s ok to charge me the fee, I was not arguing or asking for special treatment, and he hung up on me! So unprofessional and left me feeling that I had made the right choice. Go elsewhere if you can!

Did not have a good experience. The online quote was way less expensive than the final invoice. They charged $190 for a $7 toll road fee that we did not know about. Billing is in dispute with credit card company as their management would not accept a call / resolve. Recommend going elsewhere.

TERRIBLE customer service! Like wow. My dad booked a rental car from this place without looking at the ratings I guess. I went with him to pick up the car and no one was at the front desk so we started knocking on office doors to find someone. A VERY RUDE lady came out of the office and started rolling her eyes at us like she didnt want to help. We had our confirmation number sitting on the counter and as I was about to read her the number she cut me off, snatched the paper away, and set it in front of her. After she was done with the number, I snatched the paper back from her and she goes You dont have to snatch it like that Like Waaaaattt?? I hope she gets fired. I dont remember her name but I would honestly go back and find out if the owner asked about it. Anyway, I will never go back and I suggest no one else support this place either. Just rude. They also have an airport tax even though they are a mile away from the airport. Stupid.

It was seemless to get to the airport and to get to their facility even though they were not located at the rental car area for San Diego Airport.

My friend and I rented from Pacific Rent-a-car and will not be doing so again. To keep a long story short:The price we received when booking online was ~ $100 less than our final bill. Add-ons included a $10 online booking fee, a $20 additional driver fee (assumed we wanted an additional driver when we said we just wanted to change who the driver was), and a $30 insurance fee (were led to believe we HAD to purchase the minimum insurance policy), and various other fees not stated in the reservation email.When we pressed on the extra charges, we were met with a defensive response and a well, you signed for it point of view. Completely unacceptable from a customer experience standpoint.This is also one of the few rental car companies not located at the larger rental car center. Im not sure whether its official policy or not, but they would not drop us off at the airport for our flight home. Their email states that they offer a free shuttle to the airport not a free shuttle to the rental car center where you take another free shuttle to the airport. Not a big deal, but another misleading statement. When we asked to confirm where theyd be dropping us off, we were met with a sarcastic response of well, did we pick you up from the airport or the car center? The car center right? Thats where well be dropping you off, too.There are plenty of car rental companies with a more professional, transparent and upstanding business. This is not one of them, and we will not be renting from them again.

AVOID THIS PLACE BY ALL MEANS. Terrible customer service. First, I was overcharged on my original rate. Then, I went through a toll, which I was 100% willing to pay. It was supposed to be a $2.00 toll fee. When I was at the location, I mentioned the toll, and they said they would provide me with the bill and I could pay at that time. Then, out of nowhere was charged an additional $185, $58 for a late fee on toll payment and $125 for a citation payment processing fee!! I tried calling to resolve amicably and the owner told me I was 100% responsible for the charges. I will never go to a small rental car business again and will never let anyone I know go to Pacific Rent a Car. I still would welcome the opportunity to resolve this with them, but based on my last conversation, I will be going through my credit card company to fight this and plan on reporting them to Better Business Bureau. DONT GO HERE!!!

The MOST unfriendly car rental experience Ive had. No explanation of charges. Upgrade charged on the car even though I didnt ask for it. Cars are a few years old. Charged the airport tax even though I hadnt just flown in.Find any other car rental agency if you can. I was in a jam and didnt have a choice. Id rather take an Uber the 40 mile trip and back next time rather than rent from this hole in the wall.

Misleading....when my reservation says unlimited miles but when picked up the car it says I am limited to 100 per day because they didnt pick me up directly from the airport and that means I must be a local resident. Doesnt matter that I showed them an out of state license to pick up the car. Do not recommend

I just returned my car to Pacific Rent A Car. Ivan was extremely courteous and helpful. I called their office a few times with questions, the phone never rang more than once. My calls were answered directly by Ivan or Lola (no answering machine). Lola drove us to and from the airport. She also couldnt have been more friendly. I will certainly be using Pacific again in the future.

Quote online was different from what I ended up paying, do not trust this place. ($100 vs $170 for 4 days). They charged me Insurance even when I said I dont needed it. They charge you everything they can and you have to check it out. Car was ok. Limit 100 miles per days, so if you planning to travel far check it out. They charge you triple for gas and toll so make sure you pay it yourself. ($7 per gallon of gas is crazy). I will not rent again, dishonest and tricky small rental place. Look at the bigger and more trusted companies, at least you will be able to get descent customer service there.Also shuttle takes you to car rental where you need to call Pacific rental place to pick you up.

DO NOT waste your time or money on this I place for the two dollars they might quote lower in rates! It was an okay experience at best. We took photos of the car before getting in, inside and outside and of the guy inspecting and the sheet for damage he filled out. Im glad I did. They were a reasonable rate for 24 hours but they held $400.00 from my debit account for four weeks!!!!!! When I called them every week to find out why that was still the case they lied and said it was released the same day as my return, my bank said otherwise. It was a huge pain to be without that money for no reason for a full month. Would not recommend unless you dont care about the length of hold of funds.

After cancelling out of the vehicle they had for me due to it being a rent a wreck they found a better vehicle that I rented. It was a complete POS! The front tires totally bald (91k miles), the exhaust leaked into the cabin of the car and the check engine was stuck on. Obvious they spend $0 on maintenance but this particular car should not be allowed on the road as it wasnt safe. You get what you pay for I guess.

I booked a vehicle through Kayak with this company and was not impressed at the overall experience. The rate was not that much less than a reputable company, and I figured I would give it a try, but that wont happen again.As others have stated, you will be shuttled to the Rental Car center from the airport (10 min), once there, you will have to call the company to send a van to come and pick you up to take you to their location. This is the same for the return.Upon arrival I did see some newer cars and I was asked if I was ok with a certain model car. I was, and we walked out to an older vehicle and went over the dents and scratches of which there were plenty. It wouldve been easier to just circle the whole diagram for damage. Whatever, I just needed a vehicle.Got into the vehicle and there was some trash on the floor, started it up and the dash board blinked because it wanted an oil change. This particular vehicle had almost 100k miles on it and lacked basic amenities such as a USB charger which I figured was a given from a rental company.The car did run and make it through my rental period. Unfortunately at times it was a dangerous ride since it had tires that were very close to the wear indicators (meaning they need to be replaced). This made for an interesting drive when the car would hydroplane for a second while driving in the rain.So they are a rental car agency but its more of a rent a wreck type of place but you are not getting a steep discount for renting an older and beat up vehicle.

I am a repeat customer for this company, I rented many times from them. They have really good service and friendly staff, you dont have to wait in line for ever! They value your business, not just treat you as a dollar sign, you will feel you are treated right as a customer. They also have the cool gocar too, I had a lot of fun driving around town with my boyfriend on this little yellow car!

I had a good experience with them and I would recommend. The quality of the service was pretty great and the cost was amazing especially since (after extensive research) it was the place that I found that charged the least for drivers under 25 years of age. The people were friendly, cars were great for the most part, no hidden fees, and they were pretty consistent with what they said theyd deliver. The only complaint is that when the battery stopped working randomly they said theyd send someone between 12 and 12:30pm and when I called at 12:30pm they had nobody on the way. Luckily they were nice about it and sent someone immediately to replace the car for no extra cost. They were slightly unorganized when it came to vehicle transfer (i.e. filling out the damage form and whatnot) but in the end they were reasonable and admitted they had made the mistake of filling out the wrong form and I did not get penalized in any way. Again I would definitely recommend if youre visiting San Diego.

Dishonest, they never keep their word and always nickel and dime you for everything under the sun. There is no consistency here, as agents will constantly change prices and managers are also shady since they take no responsibility for their actions or their employees. Debit card holds are $500! Avoid at all costs. Hidden charges. I had a 38$ reservation confirmed online that was 57$ when I showed up. Crooks. Then the car they gave me was literally held together with screws all around the outside. I couldnt believe they were giving me a car that was definitely visibly in multiple accidents. (We are talking screws on all sides). I asked for a car in better shape and they tried to charge me more! I repeat, crooks, bad quality, hidden charges, total bad experience.

Do NOT rent from here! This is hands-down the most unethical business I have ever dealt with. Scam and fraud are the first words that come to mind. They will try to force you to buy insurance that you do not need and they will repeatedly lie to your face. You may be tempted by their low prices, but there is a good chance you’ll walk out the door paying a much higher price. They will do whatever they can to unnecessarily charge you and will find a way to rip you off. You don’t just have to take my word for it, many other reviewers have had a similar experience to me.

Bottom line: do not rent from this place if you live in Southern California or did not fly into the San Diego airport. Better yet, dont rent from them at all.Details: first they claimed they had a rule putting a mileage limitation (of 100 miles, I think) on local residents and they considered me a local resident because my drivers license has a Los Angeles address. I kept my California license when I moved to Mexico. In no way am I a local resident of San Diego. We argued over this for a while - they wanted to charge me some absurd per-mile rate for anything over 100 miles because I was from the local area. I pulled out the terms and conditions and it turns out they define a local resident as a resident of San Diego county. The guy at the counter did not look surprised or apologetic at all.Next they claimed that the same limitation applied because I hadnt flown into the San Diego airport. (I flew into the Tijuana airport and crossed the border by land.) It does say in their terms and conditions that you get unlimited mileage if you fly into and out of the San Diego airport. It doesnt say that you *dont* get unlimited mileage if you didnt. And anyway this is ridiculous. Its as if their terms and conditions specify that you dont get wheels on your car unless you are under 64 and speak Swahili. What does flying into or out of the San Diego airport have to do with anything?The bottom line is I wasted an hour arguing with these jerks before they finally gave me a refund. I lost an hour out of my day and missed an appointment. Will not be back.

Not a premium experience, the car had several issues (squeaky steering wheel, windows not rolling down, etc.) Limited selection of vehicles. Ended up paying 3x what we booked for, given hidden fees. Location is off the airport shuttle. Wouldnt recommend unless you are looking for the cheapest possible

They charged us more than double for what we made the reservation for, their service is poor and the owner was rude when asking for the extra charges they doesn’t show when you book online. We already returned the car and the $250 deposit fee is still pending to be returned.

If I could give Pacific car rental a Zero, I would. Here is a list of serious fraud issues 1.) The quote on line was much lower than the actual amount that I was charged 2.) Arrived at 4:15 to return back car, there was a $35 late fee after 4:00 which I was NEVER told 3.) The car they gave me originally was so dirty and covered in dents, on top of it I found a NAIL in the front tire while inspecting this car!!!! I had to pay for upgrade to get another car, since they had no other cars available. 4.) Upon return of the car, and after paying all the higher fees and late fees, I got a phone call the next day stating that there was a dent on the car, I have been getting phone calls from India three to four times a day leaving messages. So I called my insurance and advised to leave it up to the adjuster to handle this. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

They force you to pay outrageous taxes and for expensive insurances. Plus a $300 deposit.I had to add an extra day so I called and a man told me it would be $47 with taxes added. When I took it in the next day they said it was $81. I told the lady that someone said it would be 47 so she went back and talked to someone and came back to tell me it will be $91 instead.

Pacific Rent-A-Car is the worst place to possibly rent a car in and around San Diego. They act like they want to bend over backwards to help you get in a decent car for whatever the reason maybe, on the phone, but when you show up they start tacking on extra fees. Stay away from these people! They are as crooked as they come.

BEWARE! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! They told me on the phone how much it would be to extend for a day, but when I arrived to return the car they tried to charge me an extra $29. The employee then blamed me, accused me of lying, called me crazy, began yelling, and then started ignoring me and helping another customer instead. He said the best he could do is a $5 discount but then blamed me again. Awful customer service.

Watch out! They are only open from 0800 till 1900. I booked my car at 0800. Had to ride a bus to get there because they were not open yet. They charge for early return too. Will not rent here again. Big mistaken on my part.

The check in people were nice I left a cc for a $350 deposit. I had prepaid through hotwire. We turned the car in 27th july on time, everything was fine and we were told our deposit would be released. You can imagine my surprise when the deposit showed up as a charge on my card. I have been trying since 8 August to get this money refunded. Im still waiting 8 September. My cc company is now looking into this.

I have never treated so unprofessional in my life!! Rented car for 5 days, left agency reeked of cigarette smoke. got to hotel, wife was sick and refused to ride in car. took back a day early, told them about the smoke, he went out to the car, came back in and told it did not smell of cigarette smoke..basically calling me a liar. my wife was in tears I have rented cars on business for years on business and never been treated this way, very unprofessional, dont appreciate being accused of lying about the smoke. agent was very uncourteous and rude

I flew into and out of SAN. Booked my car online for $53 for two days, confirmation receipt and all. Showed up and they ended up charging me $92. When I returned the car they charged me an additional $30 for mileage for a total of $122 for two days. I had an unlimited miles contract because I was not a local, I was coming from the airport. But because my friend picked me up from the airport and not their shuttle, the employee refused to honor the unlimited miles contract. Even after I showed him both of my airline tickets.

What a nightmare! Our reservation fell through with another company on a busy event weekend. I was directed to this company by an airport worker, the number is posted outside. The car we got was an old impala, not entirely functional seats did not adjust, engine light went on and tires were low but it was their only car and I had hungry, tired kids. Took it back the next day and they charged me an early return fee for each day I had planned to keep. They said I could take another car but they were all smaller or passenger Vans and the entire service was terrible. Next time I would Lyft and figure it out. Dont use this company if you have any expectations of a decent worker car or customer service.

I had a bad experience with this place. They gave me a dirty car that made all kinds of noises. I returned the car and tried to get a discount and they would only trade for another car which was a little cleaner but not as it shouldve been. When they gave me the second car it didnt have a full tank of gas and they made me go put back this little amont of gas back in it. They also made me fill up the first rental when i traded the car. No just no...that is poor customer satisfaction. If you want a dirty car rental go here otherwise stay away. The only good thing about this place is that most of the staff is friendly and nice.

Only giving 1 star because you cant give zero stars. The fleet of mid 90s Buick LeSabres looked as if they were acquired through a trade for a dime bag. Would highly recommend riding a unicycle for the duration of your stay in San Diego rather than rent one of these dilapidated rust buckets. Dont plan on getting too far as they only provide a half tank of gas on pick up. Also, be prepared to pay $50 an hour for late returns. Great customer service though! Just kidding. That sucked too.

STAY AWAY. Rude, inefficient, unprofessional staff. I wish I have read those reviews before booking with them, I wouldve saved me lots of time.The price quoted online was very unclear, so I called the office to make sure I knew what I was booking, got all my questions answered and was told a price and made very clear to me that it was the FINAL PRICE, everything included. Getting to the office a very rude representative tried to rip us off on extra insurance and hidden costs, with a total that was almost double the initial quote. Cancelled on the spot and walked two blocks down to Hertz and got some real customer service.

Man. I wanted to like this place because it was so cheap. The car was a piece, covered in dents, the seats were stained, and it rattled loudly above 60 mph. They made me give them my insurance policy info just to avoid extra fees. Avoid if possible.

I made an online reservation for $45. When I arrived they said there was a system error and the total would actually be $65. I said whatever. Then they said if I leave the city of San Diego the price will climb to $99. Dont trust your online reservations. They will not stand by the prices they advertise online.

I feel obligated to write this review to warn you about consumer fraud by Pacific Rent a Car. The one star is for the excellent trap they designed. Bear with me and you will learn how they charged me $562 for missing $15 worth of toll.As a visitor to California, I was not aware of the electronic toll roads which did not have any toll booth. A few weeks later, $562 charge from Pacific mysteriously appeared on my credit card. It turned out we missed three tolls for total about $15. In addition to the toll penalty of $172, Pacific charged me $375 processing fee for the “citations “!! Pacific made $375 out of this. Why is it a trap?1)When I picked up the car, there was no mentioning of any toll arrangement by the agent or on the contract. They did NOT provide any device such as Fastrack on the car to pay toll.The story does not end here.2)I then called the state toll road agent, the person explained I DO NOT have to pay the penalty. If the customer could simply set up a Fastrack account retrospectively and pay for the tolls, penalty would be forgive. But Pacific has to first call the toll agent to reverse the payment of $172 penalty they already paid without my consent to get the money back. I called and also emailed Pacific. Pacific REFUSED to reverse the charge and get the money back!! They still want to make this into “citations”, so that they could charge me $375 processing fee!3)I logged into the toll charge public website, using the reference number and the rental car license number. Guess what, I was not the first victim of trap. There had been six citations in just 2 month on that one car alone. And Pacific paid all the tolls and penalties on their customers’ behave. This means they must have made $125 x 6 by charging people processing fees for “citations”. It’s hard to believe Pacific does not have any Fastrack toll account.This is a huge scam. Luckily, I PUT THE CHARGE AS DISPUTE THROUGH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE MONEY BACK FROM THEM. There are other reviewers who also complained similar problems. I am also looking into legal actions.

I should have checked the reviews before making the reservation. Wow.After my flight into San Diego was delayed, I called to notify them of my new arrival time. It turns out they CLOSE AT 6:00 P.M.! Because of the delay, I wouldnt arrive until 8 p.m., making it impossible to get my car, which I needed to drive an hour to my final destination.They refused to waive the 40% cancellation fee.In fact, the first guy HUNG UP ON ME, and the second guy was equally rude. Then I checked my credit card statement and found they had charged me TWICE!Their customer service never responded to my e-mails.Luckily my credit card company disputed the charges and returned me my money.

I requested the for four days and they charge me for an extra day and pay rate for the car was higher than what they say online, like they charge me 60$ for one day and the car rate online 16$ they charge me 18$ And with insurance 13$ plus taxes it should never went to 60$ so just make sure to double check the price before you pay

Would not recommend. This was a poor rental experience. The vehicle was in bad shape and the service at the front counter was not great. They had a confusing policy regarding some type of insurance declaration. They are located in downtown San Diego.
