Great experience learning how to sail at Harbor Sailboats. They have newer boats and our instructor Kevin was great. Not only did we learn a lot and became sailors, we had a lot of fun at the same time!

Boats are in excellent condition and less than 6 years old. Clean and well maintained. Great location on the bay. The instructors and staff are some of the best weve met. Sailing in the bay is one of the best ways to see San Diego.

I chose Harbor Sailboats over all the other sailing clubs in San Diego when I moved here 25 years ago because they have the best selection of boats and the staff is the friendliest! It’s such a great club that I became an instructor there for 10 years! They are the best!

Our sweet friends generously chartered a private boat last weekend and we had the most fantastic day sailing with Harbor Sailboats Captain Brett. Weve enjoyed several sailing events individually as well as together in the past, but this day topped all the rest. After a brief safety instruction and informational tour of the boat, we were ready to embark. What a gorgeous, peaceful, pleasant trip! We spent hours sailing out to the tip of Point Loma and beyond (not too far, as a few of our fellow sailors are sensitive to waves). Captain Brett was informative and friendly. He helped us to feel safe and comfortable. In addition, he kept us entertained with information about the San Diego marina, eco-system and the surrounding ocean area. We also had a really nice chat about life goals, SD Real Estate and US stock-brokerage. :) Wed packed our own food and beverages for the trip and the kitchen facilities were more than ample for supply storage and refrigeration. We took turns exploring the boundaries of the beautiful 38 Beneteau including exciting turns as Captain. Captain Brett is a wonderful human, great Captain, and an outstanding professional. He helped us create some magical memories.

The reception and the boat itself was fine. The instructor made sexist/mysogynist jokes when I was the only female onboard; it made me very uncomfortable. I can see from other students body language that they also didnt appreciate the instructors mysogyny, but they chose to play along anyways. The instructor was also abrasive in general and made the learning experience unnecessarily stressful. He showed off constantly about his extensive experience sailing the world and coaching the sail club at UCSD; but Id rather have a less experienced, but more civil, instructor any day.I did not go back for the second day of class and received only a very small portion of refund.Make sure you pick a good instructor if you choose to take sailing classes here.

We love to sail to Catalina for the weekend! Spend the night on-board in Avalon or dive the back side of Catalina. By far the best charter. Not cheap- but worth it! The crew is the best. Awesome food and first class accommodations. We love to sail this luxury vessel.

We love sailing with Harbor Sailing club- the classes are top notch, the staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. We look forward to seeing Steve on the dock- always helpful and friendly. San Diegos best- its why we live here, to enjoy our city- the weather, the water and the people. Thank you!

This is a great way to rent sailboats. They teach you how to sail if you dont know already. A good variety of boats, all in good condition.

Definitely the best boats for rent in San Diego. The people here are really concerned about the care and maintenance of these vessels. If you report something wrong (which is rare), they fix it right away. It may cost a bit more than some of the other boat rentals, but it is totally worth it.

Rented a 22 for a sail in the harbor with family. They were very helpful and friendly, and I will be renting from them again. They also gave some tips for docking and departing under sail only which was a first for me, and I did it without issue. Thanks!
