Fast and honest! I went here for a routine oil change and was told that both of my front cv axles were broken, and was quoted $560 plus taxes. Other places i had gone had quoted me anywhere from $1000 to $3000 to have the same issue repaired! I realize that most of the cost was labor, but there is no way I would have been able to do it on my own, so paying for the labor charges was something I was prepared to do.The other places obviously WAY over charged on the quotes!I took my car in to Shift at 9am for the repairs and they were finished before noon. I never got a call about upcharges or additional issues ... which is rare in my experience being a single woman. I will always go back here for any car issues I might have because I trust them to tell me the truth!

It’s is very rare to find integrity and compassion at a mechanic shop and I wish to commend the staff at shift auto-repair.Recently I ran into some car trouble and having been In the automotive industry for 10 years, I diagnosed the issue as a bad sensor and brought in my own part to shift auto. They completed the repairs and I picked up car.That night I noticed there were some issues and decided to bring the car back the next day. As it turned out there was trouble with part I supplied and some other minor issues. When I came back I was expecting to be turned away and told it was none of their concern.To My surprise (and with a little convincing) the manager Tyler agreed to recheck the work and to fix the other issues (parts and labor in all).The part I brought in was defective and I wound up exchanging it but it was still not working and the car was stalling out. I began to stress out, but they said “don’t worry we will help you out the best we can”.They wound up replacing the part three times until the issue was fixed, with a dealer sensor, with no additional labor cost to me!Mistakes happen, but how you move forward is what really matters. If you are looking for a shop that is willing to stand behind their work, has the courage to take responsibility, Shift Tire and Auto Repair has these qualities. This shop has gained my trust and my business. I will be returning to them in future for additional services,thanks guys for your help.

Full service from fluids and wipers, to shocks, tires, and many types of engine repairs. They have serviced my Volvo, Mazda and Hyundai for years without issue. They handle a myriad of issues with uncanny efficiency.Javier is a wise man and hired the BEST Service Captain ever in Pat. He has a wealth of experience, super guy and great car service demeanor... coupled with his crack team of mechanics to mow down your car woes in a timely fashion. This team makes you feel like you are like family to them they treat you so well! They can also do an oil change and car wash for a very reasonable price. Use them or try fishing for a good mechanic in the pond of vehicle repair piranha.

I just found out Tyler the shop rep lied once again about work done on car. We spent $ 1700 now fast forward Im back at shop getting new brake pads. I do not recommend spending your money or time at this shop. Lies, Lies, Lies

After Pat left, the abundance of up-selling has increased significantly. Pat was more about the quality of work vs. the sales numbers. Now they shifted more towards money than keeping a customer. Convenient location though.

I brought my car in for an oil change, and diagnosing an engine rattle. While diagnosing the engine rattle, they also found an issue with a leaking axle (quoted $300). They said that the rattle was caused by a mechanical pump (quoted $900), and that the total cost of repair (axle plus engine rattle) was $1200.I had them do the oil change, then took my car to the dealer. The dealer confirmed the axle was leaking, which was covered under warranty. They also said the cause of the rattle was due to a loose bolt in the exhaust manifold. The total cost of repair was $80.TL;DR: I saved $1120 by going somewhere else.

By far the best auto repair experience Ive had! Dont be fooled by the size of the place (its relatively small), but the work is done right and at a fair price. Patricio is honest, friendly and forthright about the work to be done with your vehicle, with no pushy up-selling. He even waited after closing hours for me to pick up my vehicle after work. Bottom line: if youve been to other shops and felt like you might be getting scammed, this is the opposite. Go talk to Pat at Shift-

Amazing customer service with a fantastic attitude. Pat genuinely cares about his customers. A very rare quality in auto repair these days. Brought my car in to patch a flat tire. They had the tire patched in 10 minutes and I was out the door. Highly recommended you check them out for your next repair. Just know you get what you give so try saying hi and talking to them. A little kindness goes a long way.

If I could give this place a zero I would. The most amazing guy, Pat, left and now there is a young arrogant kid who charges an arm and a leg and doesnt even fix the issue you want fixed. Brought my car in for an error code. They said I needed a new battery. They charged $360 to replace the battery (something I can do myself) a week later the same error came up. I took it back, He said I dont know, take it to the dealership. Took it in and it was a look connection, super simple fix and it didnt even need a new battery. Lame. Go somewhere else where they value their customers.

I had a great experience at this place. The place was full but still I got a quick service. Workers are very friendly and profesional. They gave me an estimate as soon as they took a look at the situation, which I think is great because many other place dont really tell you till the end. Would highly recommend this place. Called and spoke with Pat the evening one of my tires went flat. I wasnt able to bring it in that day, so he assured me that I would be taken care of first thing the next morning. (BTW, he made a great first impression, even over the phone!) I had one tire that needed to be patched and put back on my vehicle, as well as, a spare that needed to come off and be put away securely. There was never a moment that I felt belittled, or that I would be swindled out of needing something else for my car. I was completely overwhelmed with Pats humble, kind, and considerate, customer service. His team went above and beyond what was necessary and I would highly recommend this business to others. Not only did the quality of vehicle service meet my expectations, but the customer care service exceeded them! In fact, this city could really use more small business shops like this one. My alternator started giving me issues on Saturday night and I was worried I wasnt going to be able to find a mechanic to fix it. I found Shift Auto and they were fantastic. Less than 3 hours to test my alternator and battery, give an estimate and finish the work on my car, all on a late Sunday morning! Javier provided excellent customer service, was polite and professional and was accurate on both price and time estimates. Highly recommended!

What an amazing little repair shop! I had to get my smog check done today, and my guy Kevin recommended I go see Pat at Shift Auto Repair to look at my brakes, since I was told I needed them replaced. Not only did he completely explain the process to me (something no other mechanic has ever taken the time to do), but he actually let me sit and watch them inspect my brakes, showing me the physical pieces of my car. Then, because it was raining, one of the staff drove me across the street to Starbucks to wait while they work on my car. This place really understands the power of customer service, and they will be my go-to mechanic moving forward.

This is the best place to go and its because of Pat. He is awesome and friendly and just goes out of his way to make sure you have a good experience at the best price he can get you. I had a busted a/c unit and he was very straight forward with the process and the risks and the cost and I really appreciated knowing exactly what was going on the entire time. 10/10

I have been coming to this place for years! Theyre always quick, friendly, and they make you feel valued. I dont know what other words to use that doesnt sound fake or cheesy. When I first started coming, they could remember me every time, even if it had been a while between oil changes. Ive gone back for other things too, like changing out bulbs, battery changes, doing 45k/90k maintenance/check-up, etc. I trust them completely. Highly recommended! Just dont go when I need to get something done first lol

I went in because my car was making some weird noises. I assumed, based on what I read online, that it would be a relatively simple fix. Almost immediately they diagnosed that it was something more severe, and that I needed to figure out if this was covered, and by who. This is where they really went above and beyond.They helped me make the calls to the dealership, and made sure I asked all the necessary questions. They helped me arrange the tow truck and arranged for someone to pick me up from the rental car place. They also even told me to call my credit card company to see if I had additional rental car protection. While I was waiting there, a ton of people came up to say, hi to them, and I realized they must go above and beyond for everyone. Its never fun to have to take your car into a shop, but the employees here really made it as enjoyable as possible. Highly recommended.

At a time when finances are difficult I needed an oil change very badly. Other mechanics were quoting $80 to $90, but Patricio did the job excellently for just $30. And without charging me a thing he removed two screws from a rear tire and patched the holes. Pat is honest and kind, as are his techs. I definitely have a new mechanic!

Had a great experience here. Pat is awesome. They price matched a mass airflow sensor for me including labor. It turned out the part they ordered was faulty but were very quick to fix the problem with no additional charges. They even send your car through the carwash that is next door when you get any service. Very nice staff for very honest prices! I now come here whenever I need any kind of service on my car instead of Firestone.

This place used to be awesome before Pat left. Pat was a fantastic manager. Now they have some sales heavy dirtbag named Tyler who smirks and smiles everytime he trys to ring you up more stuff. I went in for an oil change recently and all of a sudden after I left, my car started having severe issues such as shutting off after it accelerated. My car was fine before this happened. He noticeably smirked when he spoke about prices and then tried lying to me when said that auto parts stores in the areas didnt have my parts for cheaper. When I found the parts, he quickly changed his story saying they wouldnt do it for the same price vs just not having it period. I will never go back to shift unless Pat came back. Pat leaving was the biggest mistake this shop could have let happen.

Took my truck in because there was a screw in it. The guy “patched” it, but then 3 weeks later the “fixed” tire is leaking air. I take it back and he says it can’t re-patched and now it’s gonna cost me a brand new tire because they couldn’t fix a simple patching job!

After the jiffy lube on El Cajon left me with a broken oil dipstick in the oil tube . I called and spoke to Pat and he was great about me bringing my car right over and taking a look at it. Although they were unable to retrieve the dip stick he refused to take any payment and was regretful they couldnt get it out after having the car most the day. I will also say I watched Pat deal with other customers throughout the day and he was always professional and curtious .

Online: 50,-intake manifold gasket set: 150,- Online: 25,-motor mount: 130,- Online: 50,-The spark plug change (labor+ parts): 534,-Obviously, Im fine with some upmark, but 6x the price for some simple rubber gaskets: not ok!

Went to Shift to get my tires rotated on my 13 maxima, they got me right in. I wasnt sure if they needed to be balanced, but the mechanic threw them on the machine anyway to test them which was really nice.It only took about 20 minutes for them to finish my car and I was on my way. I recommend this place for anyone who needs to get in and out but wants someone who knows what they are doing!

Oil changes have become more expensive than I remember! We looked for coupons and called around before deciding on Shift. My car cost $30 to service.Pat was a great communicator. He gave me an accurate time quote and called me when my car was ready for pick up.I also like this location. Theres Einstein Bagels, McDonalds, Starbucks, Rubios, Vons, Wal-Mart, a Dollar Tree and nail salons within walking distance to keep you occupied while you wait.

You dont need a new tire, just a patch. And thats how you know an honest mechanic. Fast, super friendly, fair price. Stayed 20 min late for me to pick up!

Definately reccomend shift auto, especially for military. Ive never had a good auto repair experience until I came here. Came in with a faulty transmission expecting to spend 2.5 to 3.5 thousand dollars on a new or used one. They took the problem and dug a little deeper, turned out I didnt need to replace it and just needed a few repairs on my current one. Saving me thousands of dollars.

Went to get an oil change today and usually the owner is there. Today i had to deal with the shop manager and he had a terrible attitude. On top of that he tyred to convince me that I needed a bunch of work done to my car. Save yourself the trouble and just dont go here, there is a nicer mechanic shop in the same parking lot and Im only going to them from now on.
