I replaced the ball joints, control arms, and bushings on my SUV. I needed an alignment and balancing. Daves took me same day and had the car finished in two hours. They gave me a detailed diagram of what they fixed. My car is now driving beautifully. I cant recommend this shop enough. Great Service and professionalism.

Daves expertise, professionalism, and honesty are exceptional. I brought my 2006 corolla in for an oil change and inspection, expecting to also replace components of the brakes. Dave diagnosed several major issues (sending us pictures of each component and a very detailed and transparent quote) that would cost a couple thousand. However, he also found transmission issues that ultimately led him to advise us to retire this car (at the expense of all of that work he could have done to the car) and buy a new one. Dave is certainly our mechanic while we live in San Diego!

My girlfriend and I were visiting San Diego from Phoenix. While driving through the mountains on I-8, my car started to overheat. Went to Daves on a reference and he said nothing was needed. Have been going to him for all my servicing ever since. Honesty, professional, and quality work. Who could ask for more?

Its an easy choice taking my cars to Dave. He and his team have consistently provided quality services at a fair price. Over the past 25 years he’s serviced at least 8 different models of cars. Over that period I’ve been to others services centers, including the dealerships; but I trust Dave more than any of them. This week I had some differed AC and other maintenance done on my 2007 Honda Odyssey and 2012 Toyota Prius. Next week I am dropping off my ‘68 Camaro for safety inspection and a few needs that a 52 year old just car has. Dave’s Lamont Street has been my go-to since 1992.

Dave really went above and beyond to help me out when I was in a bind. I was in from out of town and had a bad quote from Big O tires. He was able to get it checked out quickly and fixed up for me. He was so honest and explained everything to me in detail. He even sent me with a list of things that he didn’t think I needed to do before returning home but that needed to be done in the near future. I would highly recommend this place to anybody.

Truly an auto shop you can trust, not just to treat you fairly, but to do a competent job diagnosing and fixing what needs to be fixed. In my experience, thats not always the easiest thing to find. If you take it to Daves, you dont have to worry at all.Weve been taking our Tower truck (step truck like a UPS truck) there for years. I found Dave’s LaMont Street Auto during a search for AAA free summer auto check up. They discovered a major problem I had not mentioned and reassured me about two other items I was concerned about.I scheduled the major repair and am pleased.to have it fixed. They are extremely polite and explain everything to you.The repair shop is close to restaurants and other shopping if you have a longer wait.The only reason there is not 5 stars is the waiting room was musty smelling. But I set a chair outside during my visits.

I love working with Dave, I know nothing about cars and he walks me through everything I need to get done and he always gets my car back right on time.He often gives me suggestions of things that may also need to be done in the future.

I came in to have them troubleshoot my check engine light before leaving on a cross country trip. Thankfully it wasn’t anything that needed to be replaced immediately. I would recommend Daves Lamont Street Auto Repair to anyone I know or speak with that needs a repair to their car. Dave takes time to explain what the issues are where they lie, and how best to repair them. He will print out diagrams showing your problem areas so you too understand the reason for his repair suggestions. Best of all he has saved me money on repairs not needed immediately, and taken the best route to repair our two cars, both over 10 years old, and one having over 230,000 miles on it.

Got a clearly explained, no nonsense explanation of work needed for my old car and written quote. They DECLINED to do (expensive) things another shop suggested because they were not needed. Repairs were done on time and on budget, while I biked around the bay and boardwalk. Could not have been better.

If you’re looking for an HONEST mechanic, go to Dave. I came to him with an issue that could have easily costed thousands of dollars if anything problematic was discovered but he explained he didn’t find anything and on top of that he didn’t even charge me for labor while running tests on my car. I also had my oil filter changed and the shop offers after hour pick ups, just an fyi for some working professionals who can’t run errands until after 5pm. Furthermore, there are night drop offs if you have Triple A and need your vehicle towed at an odd hour. In all, reasonable prices and an honest mechanic in pb, which is hard to find. Will definitely be going back go Dave!

My experience honestly could not have been any easier or better. I’m not what you would call a car afficianado so it gives me anxiety going in to get my car repaired, esp. being in SD from out of town. Dave himself got me in right away, explained the procedure of how he was going to get his eyes on my ac unit which needed some attention. I was with my kids and he even suggested a local yogurt shop we could walk to while we were waiting. It couldn’t have been more than 30 mins before he and his team had already diagnosed and fixed the issue. Dave is always eager to help. I dropped my car today, he works on both my Acura and Toyota, to have an oil pan cover looked at/repaired and I stepped away thinking that it may need to be torn off. I went off to lunch and when I returned he had found some OEM snaps to replace my cover and charged me a VERY reasonable price. I recommend Dave and his staff to all my coworkers/family/friends. Dave saved me $6,000! After my last oil change with him the transmission went out while I was up in Orange County. The mechanic in Huntington Beach quoted me 6k for a new transmission. I immediately called Dave and asked him if it sounded right that the transmission would be going out on a car with 86k mileage. He said he would check with Subaru for the warranty and he found out yes, the transmission was covered! I was so relieved and so thankful he thought of that and helped by calling Subaru.On top of that I like that he always sends photos of everything that needs repair along with a photo of the estimate that breaks down the cost in detail.Thanks Dave!

But this is the most honest and trustworthy shop I’ve been to (and I have been to a lot of repair shops). He took the time to explain what the problems were and tested everything before I picked up the car. When he found a last minute problem, he got the part in right away and fixed it first thing. They even picked my up and dropped me off at my RV park. Excellent service all the way around. I would go out of my way to go back to his shop.

Ive been taking my cars to Daves for years. I know very little about cars, except that they last much longer with routine maintenance. I asked him to check some things that I thought were overdue, and he explained that they only needed to be done every 30,000 miles, and my car was no where near that yet. He has records on all the maintenance hes every done on my cars. He could have taken advantage of me, and went out of his way not to do it. Cant recommend him highly enough.

I had to have my Honda towed to Daves because on one of these recent hot days, my car refused to start. I called Daves to announce its impending arrival and authorize them to check it out. Dennis was calming and confidant they would be able to diagnose the problem without difficulty. Within two hours (or less), we knew the cars problem,(yes, it was more than a dead battery) what it would cost and a guesstimate on how much it would cost. By that evening I was driving my car again. Gave me an HONEST diagnostics to an engine noise I was hearing.

This was my first time using Dave’s and had a excellent experience. I will continue to be a customer of Dave’s.

I came to Daves shop to eliminate noise coming somewhere from front wheels. I have had this noise before (about one year ago), and the auto mechanic in San Jose replaced the bearing in the right wheel. I told them about it. Dennis assured me that they will fix not only that but all other problems as well. They listed strut assemblies, strut mounts, and front sway bar links - after the test drive. I left my car, and in three hours received a call that my car was fixed. I paid $936.95 and took off. Immediately I heard a very strong noise that was noticed even pedestrians on the street. On the next intersection I mad U-turn and drove my car back to the shop. When I was driving to the office, Dennis notice the noise through the open door. His mechanic told us that he made a test drive and did not hear the noise (??).Anyway, he repaired something, and I went home. The noise from the front left bearing is getting stronger, but I will go to another mechanic to fix this problem.Victor K.

Drove a 2005 in never expecting the dramatic change in driving out, but we have never been so pleased with the results from car repairs.It was like going back to 2005.It handled like new.Dave initially gave us a detailed descriptions of needed repairs and those that could be put off.I initially went in due to the neatness of the garage and garage area.I figured if he paid that much attention to details he probably might do the same in his business.I was right.Dave has my future business and my high recommendation.
