More than anything else this branch needs a manager. Machines out for long periods of time, hand sanitizer containers empty and no paper a lot of times. Super busy which is pushing the gym to saturation point. Last but not least clocks need batteries replaced. Very frustrating.

I always have the best experience at this location. I live out of state, and every time I’m in town visiting Hunter A. helps get me set up super quick and easy! I won’t go to another gym in SA. Hands down the most welcoming and best staff and management.

This is an okay gym from the LA franchise. Okay location and good selection of machines and benches. The locker rooms are another story. They are incredibly filthy, and the mens bathrooms smell so toxic you might as well just visit that instead of Chernobyl. It seems like people dont know how to flush toilets either. Also, there never seems to be any people at the front desk, so you might as well just cancel your subscription and walk right in, no questions asked. Ill be taking my business to another gym soon.

First time coming to this gym, and the experience was phenomenal. The basketball court was very fun and the general gym community was respectful. The staff of the gym were outgoing, understanding, and very caring towards their members! Fantastic experience overall!

Paper towels on the floor, no one seems to use a trash can and no one cares! No one racks their weights, and there is no accessory table anywhere! A few signs that state that using chalk is forbidden, and yet everyone is using chalk it seems. I will be going someplace else soon.

It’s a fine gym. Pretty crowded but that’s to be expected. The floors kind of smell. I wish there was a bigger place to stretch. And I wish there was an area to do more CrossFit style workouts, but that’s pretty typical with LA fitness.

This facility meets my personal needs in regards to gym equipment. The pool, boxing gym, and basketball courts are maintained very well as well as the men’s restroom ( I’m not aware of the Women’s restroom as I’ve never been inside, but I’m sure they’re clean as well). Classes are very engaging. This facility is also very attentive to maintain and stock sanitization station. Nonetheless, this is a fine gym where you can get your fix for whichever type of workout you’re looking for.

Good classes, mostly nice staff and more less clean gym

The employees here only care about making an extra buck when selling memberships. They couldnt care any less about complaints given by their current customers. I called to cancel my membership, and was told it was not possible over the phone. I called the manager 20 minutes later (moments after my promised callback) and he was able to cancel the account. Dont trust the employees here, they will lie to your face.

No hidden fees. Except one small 60$ annual fee, which is in the contract, but you notice it only after receiving it 2 months into your membership. What is it for? What if I’m not going to workout there for the whole year? Anyway, there are additional fees, as they were before, very disappointing.

I absolutely love LA fitness and in particular the one off babcock and huebner. I get off work and go straight there. Even during prime time there is enough equipment for everyone. Lots of cardio machines. Spacious weight area. Full size basketball court. Always clean!! Locker room always clean!! Staff is friendly. I have no complaints. Trust me I have something to compare it to...I’ve been so many Golds gym around San Antonio and none of them compare. Just my opinion though.

Crew is constantly cleaning and wiping down. Clean bathrooms.

For roger davila and the others complaining about no masks, common sense people not wearing ineffective masks (with 40 years of medical studies to back that up) are the only reason i go here.

I have been a member of this location since the beginning of LA fitness in san antonio, it is a shame in the terrible situation of the club is; The time to takes to enable(fix) the work out equipment is incredibly slow and not to mention the shower area, there is not a single one that can be used. Definitively I have to cancel the membership.We have already reported this situation several times and the GM ignores it, arguing that it is not in their hands.

Nice gym. Very unprofessional. Do not agree to any personal training that JC will talk u into. He will lie and manipulate you into signing a contract that will withdrawal $135 monthly even if you do not have a membership with them. Shame on LA Fitness and the personal trainers there.

Tons of people without face masks or incorrectly worn!! Even trainers!! I don’t get it, you’d think they would want to avoid a shut down. Fitness centers are likely to get shut down first if another shut down happens. It’s unbelievable how selfish people are.

Excellent equip and facility

The tour guides are like used car salesmen, great at selling a cruddy product and wont let you leave till you sign. They tell you they care about your goals and will keep you to them. The people who go there come off very snobbish and the closer you look at the surfaces the dirtier you realize they are. If nothing else turns you off, the personal trainers will (and once they have you locked into a contract they will keep draining you no matter what). Take caution when entering this business, if this is your first it twentieth gym youve been to its likely to be the last, its just so off putting.

Horrible experience. I singed up for personal training at this location. The first trainer talks more than she train, one day she trained me for literally 10 minutes and then she said that we are done. The session was supposed to be 25 minutes. I asked her why she said that because she was working on my schedule for 15 minutes. The second trainer last only for 1 session then he quit. After that there was a good trainer, but suddenly she was laid off. There is no consistency with their staff, and also the trainers takes long periods off. One of them took a week then she was available for 3 days then another week off. The manager keeps saying that he is trying to get me the best, but nothing was happening. I had to cancel my personal training and my membership. I do not recommend. Either find another location, or a better gym.

Ive been a member of LA Fitness for over 8 years, at various locations. Ive always enjoyed it. Great value for the money. Which is why Im sorry to say the personal training was the worst experience of my life. The manager at this location scammed me by promising extra sessions (not listed in my contract) I paid for but never received. It took four months of trying to get corporate to fulfill the original contract before I agreed to just cancel it and receive a partial refund. Even having text messages demonstrating I was promised the extra sessions did not help. I still paid for 5 sessions I never received and was not refunded for. Im not saying all LAF are bad, but I would not do the personal training at this location. As another reviewer stated the trainers were incompetent and inconsistent, with turnover being outrageous. Something is very wrong at this location. Check the Better Business Bureau reviews before deciding to do business with LAF.

Checking it out for a new membership

I have been to Planet Fitness and Anytime Fitness near this LA Fitness and after my third visit I have noticed that this location is rarely ever clean or has proper working cardio machines. Most, if not all, of the cardio machines are horribly rusted and dont work smoothly. Which can cause injury!My girlfriend has mentioned to me that the womens restroom has also been horribly unclean on every visit.They only have water fountains like those in an elementary school and to me that is just really gross. They have had water bottle fountains for years now.What I am saying is this specific location is out of date, needs to be updated, and cleaned!As of this review, I would not recommend this location.

My favorite gym out of all the local places here!

In my experience, JC, the personal training mgr., makes very big but empty promises, tells you to call him instead of him calling you and does not return customer phone calls. JC puts on a front as though he cares but has a whole other opposite uncaring side to him.

No mask required here. Let patrons workout without masks. Come on down.Good amount of equipment. Inadequate means of wiping down equipment. Employees dont even rack the weights when they are done 😢

Great gym, lose the communist mask policy

Been here for a few years, but this place is going downhill fast. For the past two days the bathrooms in the entire facility have been nonoperational. That is a health code violation. Additionally the locker room (mens) is disgusting. I am talking about midday when it is not busy. Most paper towel dispensers are empty and the trash is overflowing. The male cleaner is usually sitting on the equipment talking on his phone while he is supposed to be working. I have also been working out when he vacuums or uses a leaf blower (blowing dust all over the place) right next to me and others. Maybe skip the area until no one is there? Or perhaps do that type of cleaning when the facility is closed?Some of the staff is friendly, but the majority are not. The front desk guy who is there now doesnt even get up from his desk to acknowledge the incoming patrons. Granted I am not going to a gym for pleasantries, but I would like to at least be acknowledged.Unlike other members, I have found most of the equipment to be functioning for the most part. There are one or two exceptions that I have been aware of, where the equipment is down for an extended period of time.I plan to start shopping around for a new gym. There is too much competition and it just seems like they dont care at this location. I cannot speak for the others as this is the only club I belong to. I dont want to leave because I have friends who work out here, but it is getting to be too much now.

Good place just needs better yoga classes. The yoga instructor on Friday was rude as can be. Very controlling and bossy, I didnt feel comfortable at all in that class. And I think she needs to he replaced. Do not go to this gym!

Great place to workout.

The best pool we have found in SA. Clean acnd well-maintained equipment. Staff is very nice and personable. I have only been to one class: aqua fit i think its call -- aerobics in the pool. Fri. 6om i think. She was a great instructor and made it fun and a really good workout.

The hours are great. the trainers dont bug you to sell services. the gym and bathrooms could be cleaner. when the gym equipment breaks, its usually up and running the next day.edit...been going here for two years. upon visiting another gym, I realized that this location is pretty dirty. on a Monday early morning expect the trash cans to be overflowing and paper towels to be out. changed my opinion from a 4 star to three star. will update if the gym changesEdit...maybe new management but definitely a new cleaning crew. The facilities are in much better shape since about November. Paper towels are always full. Trash is always taken out. Much nicer place to work out these days.

Good gym, friendly staff but the sales people are a different story. I was offered a free personal training session so I took advantage of it, and the trainer was great. However after, a sales manager, MANAGER, came to the desk and tried to offer me monthly payments of almost $300 a month to sign up with a trainer. I was declining due to the fact that I did not want to pay that much a month, and I simply took the offer of the free training session, in doing so he was very aggressive, rude, and had a the audacity to make me feel like I couldn’t see results without a trainer. The trainer and session were great, but the sales team has to chill with their attitudes.

Compared to the regional gyms (predominantly golds), I think this gym is slightly better in cleanliness, number of cardio and weight machines, and overall environment. I reserve the 5 star for the elite gyms, but for the money and NW region I think this is tops.

Today was my first day. Gym was clean and had great ambiance. I enrolled online and went in and was hoping to get some direction or quick tour of the area. The front desk girl was no help. I had to ask and she was very annoyed I asked. I was not given any information what else they could offer me. Pretty let down in that area.Equipment was nice and gym was clean overall.

Only reason this isnt a 5 star review is their maintenance/janitor guy. This man has interuppted my workout over 5 times now to remind of rules, that Im not breaking. He is just letting me know. Other than that I really enjoy this gym.

Unfortunately the locker rooms are a total mess. Sauna has no floor and old boards or missing on the bench. It’s been over a week with no bathrooms. There was no warning posted as to when and how long everything will be closed. After paying my yearly club maintenance fee and seeing no new equipment and the inability to hire a contractor to fix the only bathroom in the building I was forced to cancel my membership. Customer service is definitely lacking here. Good free weight area and machines. Avoid peek hours, 20-30$ a month membership dues = young groups of people working out together. Bball court is nice and flat, balls, rim and nets are usually in good condition.

Great facilities however staff is not friendly.-For example: -Kim just called me to offer me the complimentary workout session and I thanked her but told her that I did no need it and she literally hung up the phone instead of saying Thank you or terminating the call in an amicable way.-I must point out that there is a guy in the mornings who is very nice and goes out of his way to say Hello or Goodbye to people.

Just signed up, very clean, all the machines I need and very friendly staff! Looking forward to working out here!

The GYM wasnt open today. Bummer, this is the first time I miss the GYM in 3 months!

I like working out at this gym, it’s really clean and even when it’s packed I don’t have a hard time using the machines I like or need to wait for a machine or weights to use it. Only slight problem I have is with the staff, I rarely need to converse with them but when I do they look and talk to you as if they can’t be bothered. They talk to one another like great friends but as soon as you approach them their whole demeanor and attitude change. And the “instructors” have terrible attitudes. I wanted to check out a class but before I joined I wanted to see what they actually do, and the instructor came to me and my husband and asked if were going to participate and we said no that we just wanted to observe for a bit to see if we wanted to later take the class, she then proceeded to tell us and I quote “well if you’re not going to take this class then you need to get out”. We were in shock, back to when I went to go complain about her the staff in the front gave me that “don’t bother us” attitude so I just blew it off. But other than that if you keep to yourself there are really no huge issues.

Great gym. Great staff. The sauna is really beneficial whether you work out or not. They work with you on pricing. 10x more friendly then the LA fitness on 1604 and Blanco. Highly recommended.

I am a member here at this location on Bulverde Road and I’ve been a member with this hym for about the last five years.I lived in Dallas however I have noticed that these gyms are pretty clean not a lot of riffraff happening, lots of good looking people, lots of friendly staff,And not your typical gym this place is a way better!Never waiting in line for equipment !!You get what ..you pay for folks...

Helpful staff great location.

I love this gym. Ive used the pool to rehab from two very painful surgeries over the last three years.Ive made some good friends among the other retirees who work out in the pool.When my insurance kicks me out of physical therapy, Ill use the machines at the gym to continue my rehab.I also like the employees who work there. The manager, Tasha, is a real gem. Others, such as Dylan at the front desk and Art, who is a great custodian, do a great job.

This would be the 1st time I have ever been to this facility. It is rather clean very kind staff and they have enough equipmen.Although today I did attend a yoga class its been the 1st time in years And the yoga instructor was very rude to this lady that was in the class for taking notes, and not being distracting at all. I didnt even notice until the yoga instructor yelled at the lady. I found it very bizarre. But then I found it very unprofessional of the yoga instructor to continue talking poorly about this young lady after the class was over with other attendees of this class. It just came off very unprofessional and rude and I do not think I will ever be returning to this class because that is not the environment that I want to be in. I spoke to the young woman after the class and she was very upset because she was taking notes for a yoga class she was taking and needed hands on learning. Not to be nosy, but the young lady was the one attacked and the instructor should of spoke to her privately instead of talking rudely to the whole class about it.I will not be coming to this class again, and not sure if this place is worth my money if they hire instructors like this.But it was the yoga class in Friday morning at 830am. With melissa I believe.Just I dont think this place is positive with instructors so unwelcoming.Thanks, John

Another day in paradise! All the equipment is very new and kept clean. This location is maintained in pristine condition always. The manager who greets you when you arrive is very helpful, friendly and professional. I have been a member of all the gyms within the vicinity and this place tops them all!

The facilities are excellent, but I had a horrible experience when they offer me a personalized trainer with the condition that if I wasnt happy about it or just if I didnt want to continue for whatever the reason I could suspend the serviceWe started in September, and I did like it because the trainers are great people but on October our baby was due, and I call them to let them know it would be difficult to continue going there and they assume that the service wasnt running.On November they called me saying that I owe LA Fitness a ridicule amount and it was because this service is set up for a year and nothing can be done to revoke that when I finally had time to go and straighten things up all the personnel had been fire and there were new people there.That they say that even if what I was saying was the truth there was nothing to do to fix it.They encourage me not to pay, and I think that was wrong and even that doesnt affect my credit I think it was wrong.

Good gym, plenty of cardio equipment and weight machines. Free group exercise classes. They push the personal training hard when you first sign up, but after that they pretty much leave you alone.

I am enjoying the gym but not first having to get through the sales guys. The price and terms kept changing. Another associate with a higher rank changed the price again and I initially left with no membership. I got a good deal on July 4th. The personal training is a half a year or full year contract. Goes up to 700$ a month for 3x a week for 30 min sessions. That is highway robbery. The sales people and price wars is ridiculous. Someone has got to get that to stop!!! I would do personal training if I had more contact options.

For the price, you cannot beat this place. I can always find equipment to work out on, no matter how busy this place is. I also enjoy LA Fitness because of its racquetball courts. Bathrooms could use a little more upkeep and cleanliness.

Tony Jackson is an amazing trainer. I came to him about 4 weeks ago to get into shape for my sons upcoming wedding. Talk about exceeding expectations!!!! I would highly recommend Tony Jackson at the LA Fitness on the corner of Babcock and Huebner to transform your appearance!!!!

Be careful when trying to cancel your membership, it can only be done Mon-Friday during the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM and only by the Operations Manager. If Operations Manager is off for a few days or even weeks nobody can step in to do the cancellation. So you continue to pay until he can get it done. One of the worst policies Ive ever heard.

The only reason I got a membership with with gym is because our apartment complex’s gym is being remodeled at the moment. My first day there I had a complimentary personal training session & then was very aggressively pushed to sign up for a personal training contract even though I kept telling the manager I would think about it. He wouldn’t take no for an answer and continued to be pushy. I checked my bank account & saw I was also charged TWICE for signing up with them & am now having to dispute the charges. As soon as our apartments gym is finished being remodeled I will definitely be canceling my membership here

The gyms staff is helpful. There is plenty of equipment. The womens bathroom is spacious, has many lockers, sinks, shower and bathroom stalls. The sauna has two level seating. What concerns me is that the stone heating element is not completely caged. It could be a hazard. The clock outside the sauna door is not working. You need it to time your sauna.

I love LA Fitness because it has helped me lose weight which I havent been able to do in the past.

I love what the gym has to offer but the sales people are pushy, aggressive, and immature. They will make you feel that if you reject anything they have to offer they will consistently ask why and make it hard for you to make decisions at a reasonable pace. I like the atmosphere of the gym the staff just sucks.

I love LA but this location’s members do not re rack weights at all. So many lazy people here. Wish the staff would enforce this to help keep the place organized and looking nice.

Really nice gym is only plus... They over charge you to hell when i switched from my brothers plan to mine they charged me for both even though i canceled and they herasss all my friends constantly trying to sell memberships

AWESOME AWESOME PLACE! I love it! I have been a member at many fitness centers in the past. Was at Golds for over 10 years. Left Golds cuz I got so tired of NEVER finding parking, place was super crowded, no treadmills available or machines to use during the peak hours. This place is clean, the machines are brand new, the staff are awesome and friendly and most importantly, there is parking and there are machines available during the peak hours! I am very physically fit and this place is definitely for me! :)

Thomas is a wonderful personal trainer. My wife has been working with him for a while now. I recently started going to him, and enjoy the workouts Im getting. He varies them up to work different muscles. The gym is a bit crowded in the evenings right now, getting to use some of my favorite machines is a little challenge. But thats typical with New Years resolutions. If its it like most years, around mid-February, the crowd will get back to normal.

Terrible gym, when I was enrolled I was told they only have volleyball on Thursdays. So I show up for Friday night hoop session, and they added Friday volleyball night. They have 7 people taking up a whole basketball court. Last Friday night we had 30 people hooping. Now, they already took my year fee and Im stuck in this nightmare. Also, when I was enrolled I was never given a key tag to scan, and whenever I arrived I was was treated terribly. When I asked for one I was told it was given out upon enrollment, finally the guy gave it to me, but it seemed to ruin his day. Good luck if you are a hooper and try to play here.

3rd day and wish didn’t pay any cent, specially the pool swimming 3 lanes and have to wait until they leave so you can use it i was in the pool swimming and old woman told me to go to the other lane because she own the lane LOLWe paid money to use everything in the GYM but not control people too LOL i told customer service she told me its courtesy and everyone have lane !!Mean have to wait if 3 people in the pool swimmingProbably the old woman one of the managers or owners anyways can’t wait to finish my membershipIts B.S

Where shall I start. Signed up 9 days ago after moving to the area. Went in first time last Friday and it wasnt overcrowded and I was able to finish my workout.Came in yesterday, Monday, got two exercises done and ever free weight or machine I needed for my 9 or so other lifts were totally busy. I couldnt even shuffle the order. I looked around in vain for about 10 or 15 minutes before I just left and found another gym.Came back today, to get a refund, and I cant even get my money back even though I only got a full workout there once. There was a waste of over $100. I will never recommend this gym to anyone and will warn everyone about how they do business.It doesnt pay to stiff your customers.

Do not get membership here.. they are a scamming company... Do not sign membership contact with out taking home and read guy Hunter Rose came to me with a deal for a year I jumped on it to find out to two months later it was monthly year contact with balance of 868. Im not the only person

I have been a member for past 5 years. These days Having bad experience in seeing reserved area for personal training sessions during peak hours. This should be update to every member and should consider their acceptance as well.

I love LA Fitness mainly cause I get there early and swim as my cardio. I need that cause my knees are in bad shape. They also have an indoor basketball court. They are cheaper than Golds gym and when you are with LA, u can use any LA fitness gym in the country

I have little time to be a member of this gym. After closing x 2 months and after all the rules to reopen. It leaves a lot to be desired to return only once in a while. The machines were not cleaned well, the carpet looks not very clean, there were small changes removing objects, due to contact, but this location does not look very clean.

As with the majority of chain gyms of this size, the main interest here is making money. And theyll make sure they do that, even if it means charging you on an inactive account numerous times (theyll be fully aware of this, by the way).In short, in the year long experience my family had at this gym, we never felt welcome, but our money sure did.Also, the facilities are nothing to call home about, either. Save yourself the dilemma, go elsewhere.

If youre planning to join be very careful on anything the staff and manager tells you. It is impossible to get out of a personal training contract and even the membership. The staff will tell you one thing but in reality is a total lie. Its been 2 months trying to cancel my personal training and the manager kept saying he took care of it but they kept withdrawing from my account. And now he tells me that I have to write a letter and send it through mail because the rules have changed.I cant believe the level of dishonesty especially from the manager.

Great gym at a great price. Lots of equipment and the pool is at a nice temperature.The locker rooms tend to be too hot and you begin to sweat even after a shower.

Incident #1- I signed up when the gym first opened at this location. They told me I had a free session with a trainer for an assessment. They kept asking me so I set up a time and went in. When I went in I was told that a trainer would be right with me. Time passed and another customer asking to speak with a trainer came in. Of course he was able to speak with a trainer right away as I sat and waited for mine. After a half hour of waiting, I finally just jogged a mile on the treadmill and left.Incident #2 - Difficulty cancelling membership! It has been three months since I told them to cancel my membership. Thats 3 more payments! When I told them to cancel my membership, they cancelled the childcare portion of my membership, but not my membership. How am I supposed to go to the gym when the childcare portion is cancelled? It makes NO sense! I was never able to speak with the protected manager “Graham”. Every time I called he was either not in the office, at lunch, or on a conference call. Long story short, 4-5 phone calls later, they finally approved my cancellation and I am awaiting my refund. Hopefully it gets here in 7-10 business days as I was told.Positives: the facilities are nice and so are class instructors.My advice: pay in cash if you want to join this gym.

Well 1st of all being that it was my 1st time that i had ever went there, i must say i was impressed and mind you now i saw all the bad reviews and read some of them but as far as what i saw was ok with me even the bathroom and the showers, i went to the Aquatic Exercise because i have a torn meniscus and the water is good for that. I liked the work out, thanks to the Instructor Marlene, will try to make it out there again. I will say this i wish that they would install on all the facilities a swimsuit dryer, where you put your swimsuit in it and it spins and takes out all the water from the swimsuit and i only have seen it at GOLDS GYM so hopefully in the future they will consider installing these cuz it would help, but othere than that i didnt see any flaws, so keep up the great work and God Bless.....

Currently not a member but the parking lot is large and in a convenient location. Some parking lots are small but here you have no problems. When coming here there is going to be a lot of traffic after work but if you come during weekend or later at night it is easy to get to.

Very clean, staff is helpful and John Alvarez who helped with our family membership was very nice, professional and took time to really help us understand everything......

The bathrooms could be cleaner, but the dumbbells and free weights are in good order, and most of the time, you can find what youre looking for. I wish they had bumper plates for deadlifts and resistance bands, but Id say its a nice facility overall. The sales people can be a little annoying too, but I guess thats most places.

Very empty place. There were about 8 sales men staring at the people working out. One salesman tried pushing so much to buy a membership and made it very uncomfortable, I just left. Smug salesmen tried multiple times: You love the gym, you love the location, what else do you need, the price will go up tomorrow - I need you not to keep bothering me.Management, if you are reading this, PLEASE stop commissions on these guys, for heavens sake. And for it, I chose golds gym.

It’s ok gym but sauna is a big deal for me and It’s been over weeks they said they would fix it and nothing has been done by now! Nope, their service is not good! La fitness will tell you there is no annual fee but you will have a surprise on your credit card. Be careful!

Super crowded at pretty much all hours of the day. There are also random groups of people that take up a section of the gym and also smell terrible, had to leave it was so bad. The sales staff are also very clearly salesmen, they will say what they need to in order to convince you to join. It was short lived for me

Great location. Usually everything is very clean and all the equipment works. They have a juice bar that make really good protien shakes but they now have a cooler with meals that are prepared in their kitchen. All the meals are pretty low carb and high in fiber and protien. The cheapest meal they have is a breakfast meal for about $4 and the most expensive is a tilapia meal for about $7. Either way its very convenient especially if you dont want to go to the grocery store sweaty. The pool is a nice feature and its heated. They also have a half basketball court, a yoga studio and a really large spin studio for you cyclists.

This gym has a policy of feel free to steal for their employees. I forgot my headphones at the kids club while I was picking up my kids. The staff that was there that night confirmed finding them and leaving them at the front desk. The front desk says that they left them in the drawer. But they dont know where they went. So when I spoke to the manager after a week of him finally getting back to me he says the gym policy is not responsible for anything you lose in the gym. Basically, if the employee finds anything feels free to pick it up and go home with it.Worst experience...

Gym is clean enough, never super busy, has good equipment. Only complaint is TURN THE DAMN AIR ON, it feels like a sauna in here everyday.
