This is worst establishment I have ever been to. Very poorly managed. It is the most money hungry business I have ever been to and I will never recommend this gym to anyone. As a service member I was made to feel very unwanted and unappreciated. The manager on duty (Maribel) does not value the patrons that enter that facility therefor the staff mirrors the same behavior. Totally disappointed with the way this business is managed, therefor I will no longer support this business. I strongly recommend that you think twice before signing a contract with this establishment. You will be very disappointed in the end.S/n to all of my brothers and sisters in arms - please support business that appreciate the sacrifice that we have made for this country during our time in service. Never support any business that blatantly disregard our service to this country. There are many other establishments that show support for our service. Support those type of businesses and stay away from the ones that doesn’t.

The first time I wrote a review about workers being unprofessional at the front desk. This was addressed and I noticed the difference immediately. I appreciate that. My complaint today is the day care. Today was the second time we have gone to the gym with our son and had to turn around and go home because the gym did not have enough employees to care for the kids. Yet, when I turn around I see the manager and 4 other employees sitting around a desk just gossiping. If I’m paying for a service and do not get it, can I get a discount for not getting this service. I think not! Again I’m seeing some very unprofessional employees concerned more about the happenings of today than the customers not getting what they are paying for. I would have brought this to the attention of the manager, but the first time they couldn’t take care of my kid and asked for her she told the other employee I was talking to that I had to walk to her desk if I wanted to talk to her. I think it’s time we look for another gym!

Staff are awesome. I hate gyms but I feel very comfortable here. I highly recommend Dyani as a trainer! She’s amazing and very informative! Oh and the daycare is great! I’m a single mom so I appreciate them very much!

The gym location on Walzem Rd. has above average management handled by Maribel. Ive attended this gym more than 5 years and never had any complaints. Also theres a great Refit Instructor named Chelsea and I am benefiting toning down every area of my body by attending her classes.

I can only speak for this location, restrooms are always clean along with everything else, the young lady at the childcare is great, I forgot her name but it’s not the older Spanish lady. She’s mean and always on her phone lolThe billing is weird, but don’t be shy to question it and have it explained in detail .The equipment is good.I’ve trained with Logan who was exceptionally knowledgeable with my condition . I then was notified he could no longer train so I got Amanda, she is also exceptional and knowledgeable with muscle building . I have no complaints as I have read my contracts before signing .

Friendly and knowledgable staff. clean equipment. respectful clients. no one fat shames or looks at you in a strange way. you just sign it and get to work. if your like me and totally lost to working out, they have 1:1 training sessions. they listen to your goals and help you achive them in a safe way. i love the 3d scanner too. lets you know what precentage of fat/lean muscle you have.

Really impressed about this place lots of equipment and is clean. Outstanding.

I worked out today for forty minutes, and they played the song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun FOUR times in that short period of time. If that doesn’t warrant a one-star review, I don’t know what does.

I’ve been with these guys since freedom fitness. The gym is great needs some equipment repairs like treadmills are slippery and some elliptical are so used they’re worn out. THE WORST THING IS THEY BILLED ME $200 FOR NO REASON. Around February I frozed my account cause of the pandemic and they decide to charge me $200 after and I’m using the same card when the two months freeze was done.

Place has gone down hill lately... Ive been coming since its opened and the amount of equipment missing or damaged has gotten crazy... The locker room showers get pretty gross first thing in the morning also... This place just needs some attention

I go to this Gym because it is closer to me, thus more convenient. I joined several years back when it first opened as Freedom Fitness. Staff members and trainers here are great motivators and always have a positive attitutde! The first couple of years, I would have to give this place a 5 Star; but, these last couple of years and even before the pandemia, it is wearing out. They did some remodeling and put some leg squat equipment but thats it. Or wait a minute, not too fast. They also order and set up a nice looking training area with punching bags and the like. But, it is only for Special Sessions with Trainers. The rest of the equipment is slowly deteiorating. If they get rid of some of the machines that are broken and the one that people never use; ie... like the bikes you took out the bike room and distribuited between the Dark Cardio Room and the stretch out room, then it may go back to a 4 STAR. Replace and or Repair the broken equipment and order more gym straps, belts and accessories for the Gym members. Leave more space between machines, especially the abs and stretch room. This way we have room to place our mats on the ground and stretch ( use the room for its intended purposes). Do all this and I will consider a Five as long as you continue to keep your bathrooms clean.Follow up; great to hear a fast response from the supervisory Staff. Stay tuned for editing updates.Update: 1 Aug 2021I am not going to lower my rating this time because these guys bathroom are usually pretty clean. They do have to start checking the stalls more often. Some peoples aim is all jacked up and I guess where ever they come from, maybe they dont have regular flush toilets, are just plain lazy or where ever thaught; or, Maybe they are used to backhouse latrines. Be more considerate buddy. Make sure you wash your hands too. We know who you are.20 August 2021Changed rating to a 5. Machines got new coverings and way more organized. As long as it stays like this i will be returning here. Thanks to staff for keeping up with equipment.

SCAM ! DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING !! I was only signed up for only 2 weeks and was charged 4 times and owed a manager who insisted on paying for my training that he preached I NEEDED to reach my goals and I would owe him the 1 time payment, failed to mention it would be a reoccurring fee every 2 weeks on top of my monthly payment that would go on for a year contract, about $200 a month !!! He said just sign and click next until it says finished and ill be back. Trainers and Management will lie about wanting to help you reach your goals and try to take as much money from you as possible with CONTRACTS that go directly to your rooting and account numbers. The management even said corporate wont do anything and I called and they didnt. The manager recommended to cancel my whole debit card and change banks. I just wanted to be healthy and instead I was robbed. I had just lost my father and have rent and car payments of my own that I need to worry about. I have never in my life thought all this would happen from a GYM !! Shout Out to the one trainers, Jada, she was so nice and the only one who would communicate with me and would try to help, I appreciated her sooo much. Everyone else including the corporate lady I hope you feel the pain that feeling. I hope you lose everything you love and then someone robs you of what you have left. I dont even like to leave bad reviews but it leading me to changing my whole bank and everything else connected with it, just insane. Would be 0 stars if I could.

Just signed up earlier today and I really regret it, after seeing other reviews about scam. And I feel like they push you into signing up with things that’s you don’t want or not interested in. I asked for a monthly gym membership and after looking at other reviews I just feel like I made a mistake with signing up with them. Lady almost threw in a whole 40$ for something I didn’t need and wasn’t really interested in.

Maribel provided great customer service.

So they promote bring a friend but its not true; they denied my guest entry but really tried to sell a membership. Guest only on certain days; my guest is special needs and was trying something new out of her comfort zone. That did stop them from pushing a membership on her; they will push a membership on your dog. Sad case sad location staff

Do not go to this gym. It looks ok but they are very misleading and money hungry if you move, you have to still pay for a membership even if you move out of state. Then they say its just their computer that keeps charging, theres nothing they can do. Its corporate. Never had a worse problem than True Fits Gym. I would give a 0 star if I could.

The staff is so friendly and kind. This location is amazing! Its clean and well kept up with. Everyone Ive seen has been following face-mask covering guidelines. I was a little hesitant in going back to the gym (social anxiety), but this place has been so welcoming. Thank you!

An employee who no longer works there signed me up for a year long contract, including a personal fitness trainer. I agreed to a month to month but rather than being read the terms he said just sign here. I attempted to cancel my membership and unfortunately, for me, confirmed via phone call with the manager, I am not able to cancel. I have never used their equipment and dont ever plan to. I have a current membership with LA Fitness, and they reassured me its a month to month. I love LA Fitness, they eased my issues with Tru Fit. Tru Fit claims I owe them hundreds of dollars to cancel. Unfortunately for me I dont have that money and wont pay for something I never used. So unfortunately for me, it will begin affecting my credit. They didnt do a credit check to begin with, I cancelled my bank account since it was COMPROMISED no thanks to this company. If you need a gym membership, I recommend LA Fitness. 2 week VIP pass for anyone and everyone you want.

I had a membership at this gym for a few years which then led me to signing up for a trainer. The gym overall, was fine. No complaints with the gym. My one star is mainly for the training sessions. When I first began my sessions, they were great. My trainer then moved to another position and I was assigned a new trainer. Well, this trainer later left, and I was never informed. Sessions were accumulating. When I did go back, I had so many sessions. My first trainer was now in charge and I was assigned a new trainer. This trainer was AWESOME...a trainers trainer. His workouts were great, he was motivating and consistently stayed on you. He then was let go which he was kind enough to inform me of. I was never informed by the management. The trainer I was then assigned to, well.... he was not like the trainer I had before. No motivation, no variety to the workouts and no follow up. When I went in to cancel my membership and inquire/cancel my sessions, there was still no follow up to get you linked up with a trainer. Considering how they change trainers; I do not know if my last trainer is even still there. I consider this an EXPENSIVE lesson learned. Take heed people, join the gym but stay away from the training sessions. Very unprofessional with awful customer service.

Great staff that is quite friendly and they love to see people come back. I havent had any issues with them after 2+ years of being a customer. They have a few customer appreciation events throughout the year where you can get anything from water bottles to almost a full light meal. The personal trainers are good, although they could use some adjustments here and there. But if you are not looking for anything fancy, just a nice place to workout with treadmills and weights, come check it out. No spa or pool, just the basics, and try to sign up around holidays, they will often waive enrollment fees. And be sure to sign up under me! It will benefit the both of us, look for me on facebook if you decide to do so. Ive included some photos of their supplement store.

Please dont fall victim to their membership scam, you will have to sign away on a keypad as they re write the membership behind you. I got scammed when I told the representative I was only staying for 5 months he had me signed then put a 12 month contract after I signed the keypad only to know this 5 months later when I tried to cancel. 100% WOULD GO TO CRUNCH / LA / GOLDS / 24 / ANYTIME Ive been a member at all of them and TRUFIT IS BY FAR THE WORST.

The gym is fine has all the equipment you need. But Never sign up for a trainer they will hustle you out of your money and will pressure you to get a trainer no matter how many times you tell them no. I really did like the gym until the trainers basically wouldnt take no for a answer and i was pressured to sign up for training sessions and now im locked in a contract i dont wanna be in and didnt inform me of the grace period. Im going to planet fitness where i dont have to worry about getting hustled. Its ridiculous to pay 130 a month for a trainer you see twice a month.. Good gym never sign up for a trainer unless your willing to pay a pretty penny.

SCAM!!! They have shadey business practices, they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign a year long contract with several expensive add-ons and then threaten you to pay hundreds of dollars after the fact. The manager will claim they terminated the employee that lied to you however you still have to pay sorry. Might possibly contact the news with the other similar reviewers.

I love the Walzem location of Tru Fit. It is definitely the cleanest of the clubs and the friendliest. It is a great affordable option for anyone looking to start their gym experience. The GM is the most helpful as well. Cant say enough good things.

I use to be a member of Golds Gym. I really like the Trufit equipment and environment. I dont feel like I have to be a pro to work out. Everything is always extremely clean and weights are organized.I wish they had longer kids club hours on weekends. Its too hard for me to get there during the week. It might be the reason I end my membership at the end of 6 months.

I would not recommend this gym to anyone. The place is not kept clean and sanitary. I had been going to the gym for about 2 years when it was initially Freedom Fitness. At that time the gym was kept clean and the equipment wasn’t broken constantly. I have emailed corporate regarding the gym and have not received a response. This gym does not value the customer. The staff is very unprofessional and is not friendly. Be careful if you try to cancel your membership, I read the reviews prior to canceling and noticed many reviews mentioned how their card was still being charged after cancellation and the gym was not refunding the client. It would be best to cancel your card after you cancel your membership to prevent unnecessary chargers to your bank account. Since, canceling I have created my own home gym, which is clean and all of the equipment works. Good riddance Tru Fit!

Im a member of another TRUFIT gym in the RGV. The equipment here is much better taken care, in better condition, and in its place compared to the ones in McAllen/Edinburg/Brownsville. Was up here on visit and decided to do my cardio(combo6) and weight workouts. Not packed at the times I went(8-10 am). Most definitely will use this gym on my returns to the SA area

Do not give these people your credit card number. If you decide to leave the gym and fill out the proper forms to ensure they stop taking payment from your credit card, monitor your monthly statements. With us, they stopped taking payments for a month and then resumed to charge us without authorization. In addition, it is not a good gymnasium for more mature people 40 Y/O and up. It is a very inexpensive option but beware, and remember the old adage, you get what you pay for.

I have had THE WORST experience with this gym in every aspect. Anywhere else I go you get your money’s worth. They have horrible customer service, their billing and accounting office is no help. I had to resolve something on my own because they do not communicate well at all. They had me jumping back and forth from their corporate office to the local office it was ridiculous. I do not recommend this place to my family or friends or anyone in general for the manner they attend things.

Trufit is downright awful. I have contacted the news via email today about their business practices (I just had to). Today, after I received a response from Paramount (affiliation of Trufit- seems like they dont do much) for my attempted cancellation via email, which I suspect is pretty standard now days, I went to the location (per request) and signed a cancellation paper. I was advised that although the account is paid in full I have to pay for august!! Oh, did I mention that they charged me not twice, but 4xs in July!!! During this whole pandemic I have not received ANY correspondence regarding my account, or news about whats going on at the gym and my account with them. The portal they have honestly looks like a 6 yr old could have done it and there are no events or news on it, only a WAY TO PAY.....GO FIGURE?!?!I joined in October last year, went three times(before Feb 2020), was going to cancel but the pandemic hit. So then the Gyms close....I cannot go in and cancel. Very convenient for Trufit!If I am charged again I am going to have to go to the BBB, my local Congressman and The Attorney General. I hate to be this way but we all need to play fair in the sandbox. Oh, and I tried to cancel on the portal via email and also on the phone 2 xs prior to this testimonial...... a reply came several days later to go on and head my tail on into the gym for that!!! NEVER MIND THE CURRENT PANDEMIC, Thanks Trufit!!!

I will say he is an amazing coach. He will help you with just about what you need. Great advice and information on your health. Im very happy with my out come since joining his classes. Amazing people just such a great fun vibe.....

This gym facility is great. The front desk always greets you when coming in and leaving. There are always trainers offering assistance if you need it. The place is always clean and managed well. You cant get mad when the weights arent put back, if the equipment isnt wiped or if a machine is out of order if that is the fault of the individuals who have used them. The rules are clear and are posted throughout the gym. There are different gym memberships, you have to find the one that will benefit you most. Platinum membership is best to get the most out of the amenities and if you’re traveling to where there are other Tru Fit facilities. Now if only everyone followed proper gym etiquette!

My last review was only a star and now that the previous Manager Maribel is back things are so much better. Atmosphere is great, equipment is getting fixed and some already repaired. If you need a gym membership go see Maribel. They are having a great promotion right now. They also offer Zumba classes, day care etc...

This gym is awesome! I just started coming here about two months ago and I love this place. The staff is friendly and they actually greet customers with a smile. I come in the mornings and the atmosphere is the perfect way to start my day.The equipment is good, it has everything that most people need for a complete body workout. The part I like the most is the ability to wipe down my equipment before I use it and after. Thanks to the spray bottles that are located throughout the gym.I also cant beat the price! I literally can workout here all month for under the price I would pay for 2 Bic Mac Meals! Yes, Really! So there is no excuse to not join a gym with this much value for that price.Also, I like to see all the different people here. Bigger people can workout here comfortably without judgement. Everybody has to start, but with hard work anyone can get better. There are some hard hitters in this gym too! Its just a great place to spend my mornings!

I will definitely never go back to this gym, I cancellled my contract on December 3rd and was charged 133.00 on the 25th for their annual membership because they said even though you closed they will charge you for one more month, which it’s ridiculous, I hope no one ever goes here and they end up shutting down for being greedy, when I called customer service they said I couldn’t do anything because it was in the fine print and I signed the contract the best thing I could do is dispute it with my bank. Horrible experience.

Clean, excellent customer service and friendly staff! Revisited to possibly get another membership but all the amenities that were there when they were Freedom Fitness are now gone especially the great guy with the Smoothie Bar he was the most friendly employee and so knowledgeable about his product and the gym he just brought an inner light to the entire place I will never go back to the darkness that is true fit I was so disappointed with the facility the employees and the pricing forget that I will go back to a different gym any gym I work out in my backyard if I have to I will never go back to True Fit

Good price for the basic plan. (Almost) all of the front desk staff are really polite. Wide variety of equipment. Deadlift platform. 2 power racks, which are usually empty, and a squat rack. One downside is that some machines have been out of service for a while, but every machine has several duplicates so it isnt actually a problem. Also, chalk is not allowed, but liquid chalk wont raise any eyebrows.

So this gym took my money when I asked them to take my card off file on someone else account they told me they couldn’t since they needed a card on file in order to charge the account I told them I wanted it off unfortunately I lost my card and had to replace it so the charges stop on an account that isn’t mine 1 year later they still charge my account almost $100 and when I called they told me it was because the system self updated and I told them how I wanted to take the card off but they told me no I couldn’t —- now they are telling me all I had to do was sign a form and I was very upset on how they could not give me back my money when someone on their staff told me I couldn’t take my card off and I couldn’t sign that form now that they have their money they are more then happy to take my card off when this is what I asked for in the first place this is very unprofessional and annoying they would take my money especially with covid-19 money issues I was having I could not afford for them to just take my money!! It’s irresponsible and ignorant this company can Do that to its former member and not care what happens to them at all.

The gym is clean and there is a lot of equipment, so you don’t have to wait long to use something. A good variety of cardio and weights, and space for circuit or core work too. The staff were also friendly.

I workout here when I can which is great cause Monday - Thursday they are 24hours which works perfect for my schedule. And the weekends I can rest! The Zumba classes are great too. Great variety of equipment, weights, and machines to use! Staff is friendly and helpful. The Establishment is easy to find and affordable.Definitely recommend!

Tru Fit has a child area for you to leave your little ones while you work out. There is a private women only room as well as a dark exercise room. They have personal trainers as well.The locker room area, to include showers, toilets, and changing room is clean.

I would steer clear of this gym. The management is terrible, the gym is dirty, and it takes too long for the equipment. Even after the equipment is fixed it doesnt appear to be fixed correctly because the equipment is shaky and doesnt function correctly. There are other gyms in San Antonio that will treat the customer better and have better gym equipment. This gym was better when it was Freedom Fitness but not anymore.

Check your bank accounts trufit is still taking your money after being closed.....shame on u,,, I even went in before they closed so they could freeze my account and said i wouldnt get charged till july. #thiefs taking peoples money like that.

I have been with trufit for years. My sons began to tell me how kids in the center were hitting them, and nothing was done when theyd tell an adult. I was upset, but didnt say anything. Then today 1/14/20. I picked up my youngest (3years old). When i walked into the childcare area at 10:30am. The woman in there was yelling at my son, while he stood there crying. She then said i dont know why youre crying, you know better!. All because he started cutting (with a toy plastic saw that was in the center) at the packing tape that they wrapped around a mat, on the center post of the room. I am appalled by the workers behavior, and will be terminating my membership, as this behavior by the staff is absolutely unacceptable.

I spoke to John on the phone, I never leave reviews but John is an awesome employee. He had a great personality and was very energetic. Johns personality alone was above and beyond. Keep rocking John!!I am proud to be a Tru Fit Member for life!!

They say they wont charge dues because of the virus. Guess what. They charged me. Wont refund back to my bank. Only as gym credit. Didnt buy anything thing when I was a member, why would I now? Either way theyre stealing my money. Check yur bank accounts.

Poor service 3 people already had covid and they still have the gym open it should be closed for 2 days at least so people can clean it and not spread it around.

Great Gym great training staff cool front desk group. Atmosphere is also great really enjoy the price but I have one question is there any way you guys can increase the dumbbell weights. Before I came to this gym I was pressing 120 pd dumbbells so the limit to 75 is kinda discouraging

The Gym itself is great! However, I feel like they should hire women that actually like kids in the daycare. The ladies in there aren’t very loving and they make you feel as if they’re only there to tolerate your kids. I get that it’s not an actual daycare but when you pick up your kids and you have to hear “super fussy, didn’t sleep at all, wanted attention” like yeah - it’s not nap time and babies like to be played with. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ they’re not the best with children and that’s the only thing that makes my experiences here a 5/10. They also refer to kids as “this one, that one” so when I walk in and they point to my daughter and say “that one belongs to this lady” like I’ve been going everyday for 3 weeks and they still haven’t bothered to learn her name. Like WOW 🙄😐

I love that its spacious and has different types of workout equipment! And if you dont want to be bothered, you can go into the dark room. You also have a choice of working out with everyone or going into the womens section only!

EDIT (01/01/2020): I have since returned to this establishment (11/2019)... it appears not much has changed in regards to broken equipment, but the staff is very friendly, which is refreshing. I reached out to the owner about other issues via email weeks ago with no response.My husband tried to cancel my membership months ago and they continued to charge his card. It is nearly impossible to speak to an actual human in customer service. After finally speaking to someone, the customer service rep lied and said she spoke to me about my membership which was completely untrue! I enjoyed using this facility when it was Freedom Fitness, but like others, have been very dissatisfied with the decline of the gym since TruFit took over, and stopped going in October of 2018.

Great gym for the price. The only complaint is that they have no squat rack but they do have a smith machine you can use to substitute but besides that they do have a nice environment which they keep clean, they also have a great staff always very friendly, and the equipment is in great condition. Overall five stars.

I was a member at this gym when it was Freedom Fitness. I cancelled my membership and transferred to a different gym in May 2017. The automatic payments stopped until Tru Fit took over. In September of 2017, they started auto-withdrawing from my account. I did not notice because the amount was small and they switched to using a 3rd party biller, that happens to have a similar name of someone else I make payments to. I just caught this mistake and called them immediately. They refuse to refund any money. I spoke to the manager of this branch and the Regional, Veronica Gomez. Even though they can see I have not been coming there and acknowledge that they have no way to double check if I actually canceled or not. I asked them to meet me half way and even just refund 6 months of payments or even 3 months. They refuse. They are incompetent and I would not trust them with your bank accountUpdate: they gave me a credit for a year membership but refuse to honor it at the locations. The manager at the Walzem location told me they are not going to honor it, even though it was paid in full, because of my negative reviews online.

Just got a membership here. I was helped by a gentleman named Alex. His customer service was excellent! Took the time to explain and show me each part of the gym. His service really won me over glad I became a member at this gym.

I love the zumba classes and the womens area! Im glad I went back 😊 I wish there was a location in New Braunfels and in Waco!

Facility is spacious and lots of equipment. Open 24/7 weekdays.

Been to all 3 in SA, stay away from Military the other to are great.

Beware, its only Freedom as long as you dont need to leave. While you can sign up online, cancelling (because you have moved) must be done by certified mail or in person with a $50 fee. Make sure you understand that customer service is only for new customers.
