I bought a new AIO Cool Master Cooler from here. Took it home and opened it. I installed it that night and it was not working properly. I took it back to the store the next day with the original receipt. And Jacob Weis the Assistant Manager charged me a 15% restocking fee because the product had been opened. I replied that hasnt everyone that brings back a broken item opened the box. After all how would they know it was broken. He then said that the product worked on their test system so it wasnt broken. Not taking into account that there are plenty of systems out there. With different OS systems, CPUs, Motherboards. Just cause it works on one doesnt mean it will work on another. Since he basically told me I was lying. I asked if he would wave the restock fee if I took it back home hooked it all up and brought back screen shots of the errors the product was putting on my system. He was not interested. Shop some where they honor their return policy.I would like to also add that. I tried to leave a review on their website. But, they use a 3rd party review system. And could not tell me how to leave a review when I called customer service and asked.

Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to provide assistance with projects. Prices are competitive and the selection is great. Just walking around in there gives me ideas for my home set up.

DO NOT buy PC parts from these scammers. They sold my friend a complete crapbox for $2000. They gave him 8GB DD4 2666 UDIMM for $120 and a 1660 Ti for $600. A complete scam. Please spare your wallet and look elsewhere

My computer had suddenly shut down last night so my boyfriend and I brought it in today. The guys, at this particular store, made a quick diagnosis to see what was wrong - my motherboard had gone bad. They recommended certain items for various reasons and were very professional about it.

This was my second time there and the customer service was above and beyond both times.The first time my dad and I went there because he wanted to save his 10+ years old laptop, and everyone told him it would be cheaper and/or better to buy a new computer. Nobody listened to what HE wanted. But Altex did, and for way less than the price of a new laptop.The second time I was with my dad again. He liked the store so much he wanted to check if they had some hard to find audio adapters there. This place is big, and the amount of stuff they have on hand is amazing. Plus if they dont have it, theyll try to order it for you. The adapters he wanted right there in the clearly labeled audio adapters and cords section.This time it was me who needed the customer service. I had this obscure question regarding my computer, our modem/router, and a piece of equipment I wanted to use with both. Had no idea how to phrase it, but the rep picked up on what I was trying to say and got me the stuff I needed. Then he explained step-by-step what to do with it.Awesome place. Felt like I was in tech heaven when I was there. And they do military discounts, so thats a bonus.

I needed a data cable my dog chewed the one for my internet. There was an employee waiting for me when I walked in. I gave him my damaged cable and he walked me over to the correct item then he walked me to the front and rang me up. The customer service was fantastic I will be going back for the knowledge and the customer service

Went to the location on hwy 35, very rude i was asking for ubiquiti router and out of no where they had a attitude. A wanna be tough guy and for no reason. I really felt the color of my skin played a factor in this, the reason i say this is he was talking just fine till he got to us. Not all Mexicans steel or dont think we dont have money. In the computer business it is very important that the personnel have extensive product knowledge, I encountered above and beyond customer service with personnel possessing extensive product knowledge at Altex Computers on 35 North. Props go out to Robert, the store manager. Even though he did not have a firewire connector in stock, I received great customer service. I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Robert for a raise!

The staff is a bit snarky towards me often when I go, so I try to go in for what I need without interacting with them as much as possible. Theyre nice but if you dont know about something they will drive the fact home. Not all of them but theres a few. They know a lot about computer items like motherboards and PC units but not about much else as far as some of the soldering and tooling items. Which is ok but I really hate it when I get snark from a person that is supposed to represent customer service at a location. If there was another store to get some of the stuff they have there I would go to it instead but the pickins are slim here in SA.

Took my Xbox here to be cleaned. Fast, polite, and inexpensive service. Store also offers a variety of computer/gaming equipment, though I did not shop for any of those during my quick visit.

This altex has friendly and knowledgeable staff who will help you find what you need with no hassle, the only reason that they were deducted a star is that their prices are less than competitive on hard to find items. Fair market price on CPU, RAM, and motherboards; but expect to pay more for small items like connectors. A nearly one stop shop for all your electronics needs.

Beware, they price gouge, almost as bad as an Ebay Scalper, selling items way way above MSRP. They also hold onto obsolete PC hardware that is years out of date and try to sell it at or above MSRP. Great place to buy a 5 year old GPU thats been sitting on the shelf, for 10x its real value. Right now, 12/5/2020 they have an EVGA 3080 front page on website, more then 20% over MSRP 899$ for a 729$ product. They have the 5600x for more then 10% over MSRP as well. I expect this behavior from online scam companies, not brick and mortar. Try harder.

I called today to ask if I could email a picture of an electrical connector I needed for a motor to see if they had it in stock. The employee interrupted me mid sentence and said they wouldnt have it because they dont carry electrical supplies. I went online to find the type of connector I needed and looked on their website. Low and behold they had it in stock. I called back and found out it was the actual manager I spoke with. Shame he didnt allow me to just email the pic and take a look instead of giving me a hard no.

I always go to Altex computer for computer advice and Im always there asking them questions and they always seem to always answer every question that I ask. This last time I went to go get some help they actually looked at my computer and told me there was no problems which I did take it home they actually blew it out for free and I took it home and it seems to be working fine now. I do like all texts for their helpfulness and friendly advice I certainly will give them four solid Stars.

Brought in a i7 920 for it put in another case added liquid cooling bought in store turns out its the wrong socket and my CPU and mother board hit 100c after just logging into my pc and booting speccy spent just over 300 for parts and labor not including the i7 and mother board and gpu

Altex is a bit of a mixed bag for me. They have an amazing selection of products in store, but their prices on computers and computer parts seem to be a good bit higher than anywhere else. For example, products that are a generation or two old still seem to be marked at MSRP when they probably shouldnt be. However, for networking and cabling they are second to none. Great selection and competitive prices on their products. I think a price match policy here would be a great addition considering how many brick-and-mortar competitors have one.

First time visit was a great success. I was able to quickly find the computer parts I needed to repair my gaming PC. I was impressed at all the stuff they had! Highly considering going to then when I build my next PC. They have all the pieces you need at relatively decent prices. Of course you can get the higher end products too, for the relatively higher prices.The staff was knowledgeable. They do data recovery as well as PC recovery, should something be broken or lost. What they DONT do is phones or tablets. Find by me, there are tons of places that do those.All around, a good store.

I went into the store and spoke with Justin about building a custom computer. He put together a quote of $5353 and emailed it to me. I sent him a follow up email with a few questions, and didnt get a response. I sent a follow up email copying in other staff members. Still, no response. Having made the decision to invest in a high end computer it was very frustrating to be ignored.After waiting for several days I decided to take my business to XGamerPC who built me a fantastic computer with even higher end specs. I ended up spending more money and couldnt be happier.I will be taking my personal and company business elsewhere.

I seem to end up being my own IT staff most places I go. The staff here makes that a whole lot easier. They know their stuff and are always willing to help. Huge selection of computer and electrical stuff. My favorite thing is that if they cant get you want you need, they can tell you where to go!

Altex was not quite what I was expecting, I kinda thought of it of a place to sell just computer components and computers, but they sell way more than just that. I enjoyed the time I spent there, the staff were very quick and knowledgeable. Their pricings were very competitive on just about everything. My visit took only around 15 minutes each time Ive gone. Overall I would recommend.

Went in in Monday to ask about a case swap on my desktop. It apparently was near lunch time. The gentleman I was working with was constantly interrupted and rushed by fellow associates to finish so they could leave for lunch. One associate actually told him to hurry up right in front of me. This is NOT ok! Management needs to retrain their associates on how to treat customers. I will never be back to this location.

Ive been shopping at Altex for many years and while product selection is decent, prices can be unpredictable.Over the years the pricing has improved, it used to be most items were heavily overpriced, but in the last 5 years or so the pricing has approached being competitive with online retailers on many items.The store carries a wide variety of items from the generic to name brand. Store departments include PC components, Network Devices, Networking supplies, and some basic electronic items and tools. The store does not carry electronic components (like resistors and capacitors).If your looking for network supplies and not wanting to visit a wholesale warehouse this is the place to go. You can browse the isles yourself, and you dont need an account to purchase since this is a open to the public retail store.Store employees are pretty helpful, able to answer most questions, with someone usually available to help. I see about a half dozen employees working on most my visitsOverall, pricing is decent, selection is good, and multiple locations offer some flexibility for purchasing & returns. I would recommend visiting this store before small PC shops since the exchange, and warranty process here has proved to be reliable.

This place marks up prices 20-30% looked for some RGB Ram its sold for $70 but at their store $130 almost double...anyone looking for these products already know that thats robbery...

For cables and wiring needs they generally have what you need for fair prices and selection. Some items are best purchased online. LED lighting for example was roughly 10 times the price as Ive found online. They are fairy knowledgeable and helpful. Ive never seen it very busy, so if you know what youre looking for your in and out pretty quickly.

Recently ai went into Altex looking for information on how to put together a home security system. They had plenty of informed employees willing to help with telling me about different types of systems and all of the equipment that ran those systems. Altex has always provided excellent sales and service for any electronic needs my family has.

Wanted our equipment tested so we knew what to get or not to get. They wouldnt do it. Got the product we thought we needed, it worked out on a coin flips chance

I am a log time shopper of your stores in San Antonio area, but no longer. I recently had the pleasure of visiting your store off of 11342 IH35 N San Antonio, TX. I went in looking for an older product that I did not think you would have but decided to try anyways. To my delight the people in the front of the store were very helpful and while the product I was looking for was not on the shelf, they decided to look in the back for what I needed. Again to my delight, they found what I was looking for, but needed to determine the price. They were willing to give it to me at a little above cost, but doing some research online, I knew that similar products were going for much less. I asked if a $10 adjustment could be made, not much I mind you, which is when the inventory manager from the back decided to confront me about the product. In a very abrupt rude tone I was asked by this person whats wrong you dont want the product, i just spent 30 minutes looking for this? As a frequent shopper I was a little taken aback by this comment and the offending tone he was taking. After attempting to explain that I was not asking for much, he simply did not reply and turned around walking off with the product in hand. Needless to say I was a little upset at this point and to avoid making a scene I simply left the store and plan on never returning. I would never expect to be treated like this from any reputable retailer and probably would have purchased the product anyways, even if the price could not be moved. This was an unacceptable customer experience.
