My husband went this afternoon for a cut. Apparently beard trimming was not available. He didnt have an appointment, but the guy had 2 cancellations (obvious reasons why now) and was able to take my husband in. He absolutely BUTCHERED his hair! WE ARE GOING ON OUR HONEYMOON TOMORROW!!!!!!! And all of our pictures will have to have him with a hat because you ruined his hair! I demand a refund!!!

Im being nice when I say this was the worst haircut Ive had in a decade or more. Barber didnt listen to what I wanted and just did what his thing at my expense.

First time I got my haircut was perfect, next time it wasnt a haircut I asked for and kind of looked like a hack job.

Ginger has been cutting my hair for years and moved to this location a couple years back. She provides you with exactly what you want. And if shes not available, the owner of the shop is also great.All this for a great price in Alamo Heights is almost too good to be true BUT it is.

Great Barber Shop!! 5 Star Service! Alfred is great! Business has been there since 1956, and has a 50s theme with 50s music. However, the main barber is a young professional guy with great skills and service. Truly a first class experience. Plenty of parking available. $15 for basic mens cut.

Im old school (70 years old) my barber there is Ginger Hanna. She has been cutting my hair and beard for 17 years. And does an excellent job with the razor outlying my beard. Always friendly and pleasant. If you want an excellent old fashioned hair cut and shave see Ginger Hanna!

Just got a haircut at JB’s. That short lady barber DOES NOT listen to the customer.I told her how I wanted it cut; the sides on a #3 cut that it would stay manageable. She cut it all off, almost looks shaved. Clipped my hair, now cowlicks won’t settle down.I could NOT wait to get out of there.And then when I gave her a $20 for an&18 haircut, she pocketed the change!!JB would be embarrassed by this woman working in his shop!!

Asked ginger to do a flattop ended up with a lopsided pointed mess. Was nothing like a flattop. She just ran the Clippers over my head making a rounded mess with a longer front section.definetly wont ever go back ! And the worst part ? She said she had been doing hair for 40 years ! Really ? Could have done a better job my self and saved 18 bucks

Its like a step back in time, I think there is even a TV there thats over twice my age! No frills on the appearance of the place looks like it opened in 1956 and stayed exactly the same. I chose this place after searching for a haircut as early in the morning as possible before work, and they open at 7am! The cut was quick and a decent job at it too, not perfect but I wasnt expecting much considering this was the only time Ive been here so I cant fault him, as most people get to know their Barber and the Barber learns your specific cut you like, but over all good.

Great hair cut at a great price. Im new in town and spent some time looking around for a go to barber shop and believe I lucked out by finding this gem of a shop! For a 15 dollar cut and a 5 dollar beard trim I had already came out ahead of other shops where I would have put down 20-25 dollars just for a haircut!-Mark

Cant believe this place is open at 7:00 a.m. Alfred was nice and was quick and efficient. The prices a little high for my hair cut but it is what it is and when you need an early haircut, this is the place. Ill be back.

Ok, again after going here I am honestly questioning the high reviews? I have went to Alfred several times.Alfred has good skills and honestly I like him. I am surprised actually how good he does with such little equipment. Alfred has 5 star qualities, with that said.......Currently, this is not a five star shop! Reasons:1. No vacuum systems or compressors to keep hair off of you.2. The place is kinda dirty unkempt.3. The other barber (a lady) is borderline offensive politically and even racist with her extreme comments. I am not overly sensitive, but wow really? Yes, I know barbershops throughout history is where political conversations happen (which i normally enjoy hearing even when i disagree). Saying white people or any race as a whole are lazy, etc is unacceptable. Granted this election season has made people crazy. (This is a freebie no rating given based off of this). Alfred is very Respectful.4. My biggest complaint though is the overall finishing touches and service. I should not have to remind my barber to trim up the neck line or little stuff like that. What happened to straight razors?Alfred is great, but for me hes gotta add some service and finishing touches to get 5 stars. The things listed above if fixed would get him up to 4 or 5 stars. I can ignore his partner.

I used to go to Clippers, but after super long lines (and one or two really lazy barbers), I had to find a new place. After discovering JBs, I realized the real deal was tucked away in Alamo Heights. My barber Alfred was fast, thorough, and made me look great. This is my new barber shop.

I asked for a medium skin fade, this is what I got, I went in with a decent amount of hair with it brushed the way I wanted it to be cut to make it easier, I went back because I had a good experience with ginger the first time here but I will not be returning again, the guy cut my hair also cut me with his clippers, also they dont do razor fades and charge $18 so its not worth it

Alfred does a nice job, no frills to pay for just a good cut, descent price.

Alfred has carried on the tradition well. This is one of the true traditional barber shops in San Antonio I have been a customer since 1971.

Lets just say, this place is a little hidden jewel.
