This place has a great dance floor with plenty of room and I prefer the DJ over live band. I was there last night from 9pm - 2am and they played no cumbias!! Thats never happened in any club Ive been in here. Also their drinks are kinda pricey, I paid $16.50 for 2 shots. Ill go back but there are definitely things that could be better.
First let me start by saying I saw Casey Donahew for the fourth time and he did not disappoint he always puts on a great show and he is one of a kind. With that being said I am very disappointed in Cowboys as a whole. When everyone was standing outside smoking and a mouse fell on us we all just laughed it off however when you cant enjoy the concertyou paid for because it is so cold in the building that is a problem. Normally I would say its just me but my boyfriend was cold as well as the other people we spoke to. If people are trembling and leaving early or listening to the music from outside the building because they are just too cold you may want to adjust the A.C.. I will definitely think twice before i spend money on another concert at Cowboys. SMH
Have gone several times in the past years and this place is hands down the best bar/dance hall place to go. Ive traveled across the country and havent found a better place Id rather go.
I had so much fun here. Definitely a must if your in the area! Great selection of music, perfect mix of country music with some hip hop.
The guy running the bull has ZERO personality. He does nothing to interact with riders or customers. The other people that used to run were so much more fun.
I had a great time here but I only orderd one drink the entire night. Come to find my card has been charged ten times the price of the drink. Bar tender was a blonde girl she seemed nice enough but I believe she tipped herself ten times the cost of my one drink. Definitely will be taking some action about this.
No one answers phone during hours of a concert from when doors open to close. Who am I supposed to contact if I have a problem or question? No place on their website does it state when concerts actually start.. only when doors open. More information posted would be helpful.
Great venue for Fury 49. Great bar tenders & staff.
I will never in my life enter the doors of this place again. Went last weekend, paid $88 for my husband, 4 kids and I and ended up leaving about 30 minutes later. The bouncers are rude af, service terrible and I was forbidden to take a tiny vial of pepper spray (it was on my key chain) inside. I asked the bouncer what I should do if any of us needed protection from anyone and he just shrugged and said I couldnt enter with it because, IF I needed to protect myself and ended up spraying it in someones eyes, he said it would ruin business for them!!!! W.T. actual. F. The website is misleading as well, as I paid all that money and there was no live band (even though they boast of a live band) I will never,, nor will any family member of mine ever go to this run-down place again.
Not sure why its freezer temperatures in here but I literally had to leave because I couldnt stand the cold anymore.. if you go here dont come in shorts. And bring a sweatshirt/wintercoat! smh.. making girls freeze its just unnecessary
Bartender will over charge you for drinks, and give attitude if your prettier than them.
Went to hear Midland. Left at 10:30 because they weren’t playing. Two leader guitarists from Austin. I’ll never pay money to hear Midland again. They aren’t The Rolling Stones!!!!
Fun place to spin around in circles in the same direction all night while getting buzzed.
Went to a rodeo there! Yes there are rodeos there!! Not just dancing, half of this building is a dancehall, nice music, bar, dance floor, the other half is a small indoor arena area with bleachers for bull riding! I brought my 2 kids and we watched the bull riding. It was a nice small setting. We left around 1030. It was a safe area although a club is connected. Police on site and monitoring the area. We have went twice now and will be going again! Id like to have a date night there and enjoy the dancehall!
Best dancehall Ive ever been to. Played great older country mixed with new, fun clean crowd, massive dance floor..wish we had a dancehall like this where I live.
Came for the Intocable concert, website said doors open at 7, its almost 8 oclock and still no entry. My sweat is sweating and Im dehydrating, SMH!!!
RUDE & UNORGANIZED staff. They don’t know how to properly run an event.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. One of the bouncers is ridiculously rude and unwelcoming. The temperature in there is freezing all the time. The bartender overcharged my card. And every time I call during business hours nobody ever answers.
Fun spot to hit on a weekend. Definitely a must in San Antonio
No stars. The place was super crowded. And you are constantly harassed about wearing your masked especially when you are on the dance floor trying to dance. Security is VERY aggressive and can easily escalate situations instead of descalating situations. I do not recommend this place you can easily find your self in a dangerous situation with the staff. Its extremely sad cause the venue is beautiful but you just dont feel safe.
Tonight at Grupo Firme concert. Been in line over 2 hours and still not even close to getting in. Is this how Greed works in San Antonio?
To all the organizers Grupo Firme and to the Cowboys Dancehall - San Antonio I can’t still believe the way y’all handle business it seems like y’all sell thousands of tickets over the limit capacity on top of that we had to wait in line at least 4hours with tickets on our hands and for y’all to tell us we couldn’t go in because the place was full..
They always over charge my card! Forget about getting your money back.
Fun place with a good mix of music. Mostly country of course. Drinks Can get expensive but specials are usually available.
My friend and I traveled into the San Antonio area to see an artist play at Cowboys. We had a good time at the concert overall but only because we enjoy the band that was playing. We sat in VIP upstairs during the concert. The staff was less than friendly and at the end we went to pay our tab only to find they charged us for 5 drinks we did not drink. We drank beer all night and there were bourbon and coke charges on our tab. Naturally I go to the bartender and explained the error and request that these drinks we taken off our tab. The bartender then told me she would get her manger, which I was fine with. A few minutes later no one came, I asked politely again and the next thing I know security is asking my friend and I to leave! I didn’t understand why as I was waiting to talk to a manager. Once we walked down stairs, annoyed I asked again to speak to a manger. The next thing I know security is physically trying to push my friend and I out the door! I could not believe it. A man who said he was a manger started to yell at my friend and verbally assault her. It was then I realized the manger was drunk and not in the right state of mind at all to be running a bar. I noticed multiple fights while we were there and it’s not shocking at all given the fact that their staff drinks and is not competent enough to run a bar. I’ve worked in bars and you cannot have staff that is drunk treating patrons the way Cowboys did. It’s a shame for the artist playing at these venues as I won’t return to see any shows there now. Our money was taken and it’s sad the bar cares more about stealing money from people over good clean customer service. I would not recommend this bar/ venue to anyone.
This place has gone down hill. They need to tr open the upstairs. The dance floor is aweful now days.
Becarful . the girls take your money. Over charge u on drinks. Check your credit card always.
Dying venue. No thanks to COVID. No one goes anymore, its sad, everytime i go its always less packed than the week before. For those complaining about masks, your the problem, dont go out if your scared.Anyways, this place was my go to spot, on Wednesday......now i think its best to save my gas and stay in.
Very cool place great fun country dancing
Worst service. Bartenders are rude and they don’t have enough staff.
I was so excited to come here with my friends and boyfriend and when we got there we thought it was $15 but it was $30 to get in. My boyfriend already paid to go in but, my friends couldn’t because of miner issues so, we stand out of line to talk on what to do for a couple of seconds. Out of nowhere the lady in front was very rude because she start to yell at us and told us to leave so, my friends did but I stayed because, I want to be with my boyfriend but, my boyfriend told me to leave and we will meet outside. So I did and when we got there he told me the reason why he told me to leave was because, they lady called security on me for no reason. I understand that she was frustrated but she could of ask us nicely to fix our issues outside instead of being rude about it. Not only that my boyfriend always have problems here because, how rude and disrespectful the employees are.
Service was lacking and rude on top of it all. Can’t blame COVID for that.
Bought tickets for Tracy Lawrence they double sold it so we had to find our seats elsewhere
This place is the really HUGE building for country dancing ever I have seen! Fun meet new faces and a few people know sign language basically!!! Dance makes you bust into a smileI feel the music, the beat flows into my heart. And then through my blood, causing me to move though I dont really hear that much.
We were impressed upon arrival with the size of the venue, size of the dance floor, etc. However, as it got closer to the start time of the main event, the crowd showing up just STANDS on the dance floor, filling up the only area that is designated for DANCING. It seems as though the venue itself may be allowed to accommodate for a certain amount of people, but the management of the venue should not consider the dance floor as part of the standing room when selling tickets for concerts, etc. You should not be allowed to stand on the entire dance floor because that completely defeats the purpose. If you are looking for somewhere to go and dance, look around before you settle for Cowboys- you may not even get that opportunity.
Overall experience with Cowboys Dancehall are Great.
Establishment is big. Plenty of room to move around. The dance for is nice and they have a great concert line up. If you really want a genuine rodeo atmosphere, then look no further, for they have an indoor rodeo arena. Plenty of bar areas, plenty of parking spaces. Really well done. Keep up the great work.👍
Best place to two step in San Antonio
Big venue and plays great music. I had a great time but I wish that there would have been more line dancing. This is a great dance hall to go to if you know how to swing dance. But if you dont, you might end up sitting around most of the time unless youre asked to dance.
This is the dance spot to be. Also, they give dance lessons. This is a great place to have a good time. The staff is always happy & dancing. This place has live music, concerts, also Cowboy breakfast!
Horrible experience at the Josh Turner show. Doors opened at 7, by 10:30 he still hadn’t made an appearance. We heard the same songs two or three times while waiting and were getting very bored. I asked the manager for a refund and was denied, told they were not responsible. The manager and doorman then proceeded to kick us out for complaining. We will never be back! Just a waste of money. Also the parking lot is full of broken glass and smells like urine.
Live music, pool tables, HUGE dance floor, and amazing events! If you go on a night that they are having a deal (like Wednesday) you can drink super cheap. Concert days you will spend quite a bit extra but that is standard and not nearly as much as you would spend at a typical event center. Safe environment with plenty of security guards and bouncers perfect for girls night out!
Great place to go dance! It’s very crowded on the weekends but it’s been a favorite dancing place of mine for years! Drinks are affordable and much to do other than dance. You can watch the live bands or play pool! Even bull ride! Check website for prices and events
Great ambient
So I went to cowboys and they write stars on my arm to indicate that I’m a minor, what ever no big deal, but I go to wash my hands after using the restroom and notice it gets washed off but I didn’t think this would be a big deal as long as I don’t ask for and alcoholic drinks, but then 15min later I get 2 rude employees escort me out basically interrogating me. They should either use some better markers or use wrist bands as well as markers. Honestly worst experience I’ve had almost anywhere.
Always plays great music, 90s country, Texas country and more. Very little California/Nashville pop country. Perfect for two stepping.
This is such a fun place to go. I didnt know how to dance but EVERYONE there is willing to teach you. Southern hospitality is a must there and I must say that I love it because manners matter. There bars and seating all around the dance floor and there is also bull riding. I was also there for a concert prior to this visit and it was very fun.
My wife and I were in town from Dallas over the weekend and we visited Cowboys Dancehall for the very first and last time on Friday night. The dance floor is huge so we were really excited to get on the floor but there were SO many people just standing on the dance floor it was very difficult to dance. What is worse is that there were SO many people with drinks on the dance floor that there was spilled drinks all over the dance floor. I think the only way to fix this club is to hire lots more bouncers and teach the clientele proper dancehall etiquette.
They have a good music selection! gets pretty busy on Fridays but still a lot of fun
This place would be alot better if they didnt just stick to one type of music tonight San Antonio is verry diverse and yeah
My wife and I were married December 16th, went to cowboys thinking we wouldn’t stay more than an hour. Once inside it started, staff started treating us like movie stars. Making a night my wife and I will never forget. Tara, the owner, manager, mechanical bull attendant and the bar patrons made us feel right at home. We love this place. We don’t always get to go out but any date night from now on, we’re going to cowboys. Thank you everyone at cowboys for making our wedding night so special
From what Im hearing about Cowboys Dance hall. Its a really nice place to hangout. And ride the manacial bull. Im not too sure when the full Rodeo arena is open. But you can bet Ill find out. If its half as good as Billy Bobs Texas. Ill be spending alot of time there. And bringing all my Redneck friends with me. Ill repost after I visit this coming Weekend. Get E Up, Big John B.
Very dark, very loud, perfect if you like that kind of thing. House band is pretty good. Good size dance floor and people were using it. Lots of seating. Upstairs overlooks the dancefloor.
I had a great experience! I went with a group on a Friday night and there was no cover charge. The mixed drinks were a bit steep, but beer was priced average. I opened a tab and the bartender made a point to remember my face and called me by name to ensure she was charging the right tab. Early in the evening (7-8:30) they offer dance lessons for free, which was great for those looking to perfect their moves. After that, there were plenty of dance partners available. I danced all night long to the mix of DJ tunes and the live band. I cant wait to go back!
It’s a daycare there with little high school kids. If you want a good country dancehall go to wild west, bluebonnet palace, cooter Browns. Pretty much anywhere but here .
Probably the biggest dance floor in town with great light setup. Usually have live music and often notable concerts. It is a country music venue but they occasionally play hip-hop or dance music. A lot of different bars inside makes it easy to get drinks. Definitely a fun place to visit for dancing, drinking and/or music.
I can see a big of Marty Heddin... Dancers are cool and the beer is not expensive 1 dollar
The lessons at the start of Friday night were helpful and insightful! The teacher was experienced and taught well! The environment was clean and easygoing! I liked the variety of ages of people they came! The band played contemporary songs!
This is a cool place we have gone here for the Friday night fun as well as the 2 stepping lessons. Never a place you worry about being at late at night always decent staff at the bar and in the building. The atmosphere is great the music is stellar and the lessons were actually a lot of fun. The instructor was a great guy that seemed to ensure everyone learned and had a good time.
Good music and good times, but I payed good money for table to a show and there was only 2 waitresses for the whole upper section. Had to wait over an hour an order of drink and stand in line for 30-45 minutes just to get a drink. What’s the point of paying extra if there no extra privileges
Was here to see the Dance competition. Was not disappointed. Staff very friendly. Definitely recommend coming here to either improve your dance skills.
Great place to take dance lessons and meet some hotties from different states and internationally. The instructors are fabulous. Will return, customer for life. Needs More pool tables. Drink prices are exceptional. Keep up the good work, love yall to the moon and back.
The ultimate dance hall of San Antonio. Great music, huge dance floor, and a good crowd from all over town. I just wish it had a more quiet section for people who actually want to hold a conversation.
We have been coming here for years. We even went for our after wedding party!! Nice place to go for a good time.We have also celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, attended concerts. Just lots of fun!
Music is way too loud.
Love this place. Been a regular for all of my short stint in San Antonio training at Fort Sam Houston. Safe place (never felt threatened arriving/leaving), kind staff, bartenders were cool, fair drink prices/specials, fun dance lessons, big dance floor, varied music playlist (only complaint is that despite the variety of songs, they repeated them every time I showed up, but it didn’t take away from the experience), fantastic band, clean and well air conditioned. Lastly I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that free entrance being provided to military members is a game changer. Easily what I’ll remember most when I look back on my time in SA.
Dance with the best looking girls n Texas...While I was in town working the Hail Storms a friend of mine took me to a few hot spots in SA, and this place is amazing for a Georgia boy like me to experience what Texans do on a Saturday night. The large dance floor is the center location with the Bull riding to the right through the doors. Some of the best looking girls on the dance floor doing the two step will make you want to come back for more
Amazing time. Our first time there and we both want to come back.We are from México and enjoy the square dance a lot, Sam Riggs played that day and now we are a country music fans.
Great concerts, great venue. Plenty of beer stands in all corners of the place so no lines if you just want beer. They also have at least two full bars that usually move pretty quick also. Bathrooms are abundant and pretty clean - no lines.Nice sized dance floor but it sometimes fills up for live concerts so you may not be able to dance - but who cares?Domestic beers are $4.75. Since I only go for concerts, I am not sure what the cover on a normal night is.Staff (even the bouncers) are all nice and very respectful - unless you get out of hand I assume.
This place was fun. I went here for the first time a few weeks ago and enjoys our time. The restrooms were a little crowded but this is expected from places like this. Also I liked how they had a beer of the night for 3 dollars.
Its a great place if you enjoy hanging out with lots of kids under 21 and unfortunately they dont play much country music.. I understand there is a need to change up the music, but when you are billed as a country dance hall and less than 50% of your music is actually country, maybe its time to get a new DJ. :( This place was so much fun a few years ago, and now its one of the last places I choose to go, and when I do its only because a friend has decided to have their birthday celebration. Would love to see RR go back to what it used to be....
It was a decent dance hall, they dont play exclusively country though and is VERY cold. At least 60F, so bring a light jacket. Bartenders and other staff are very nice and courteous!
Get here early if you want to snag a seat. Plenty of restrooms. Huge dance hall. Saw a band here and had fun. They had a food cart when I was there. Food was nothing special, just nachos and stuff. Beer wasnt super expensive.
This place has had so many top entertainers come through their doors. It is a dying breed- a great American Country dance hall. It breaks my heart that this iconic place may close.
I would love to work here
I love the fact that it is a large country dance hall, but it is the worst. They are all rude there except for some of the bar tenders that bust their butts especially on the busier nights. Ill never forget how they told me I could not get into a concert that I had already purchased tickets to. Then they told me that I would be refunded. They never refunded me...
A great place to learn and for professional country dancing. This is a must for visiting San Antonio. Bull riding and pool tables available. Drinks are decently priced. They hold concerts every so often and provide free dance lessons on Wednesdays.
If you come for your birthday grab the birthday package they offer to you on your way in the door. I thought it would be smarter to have them hold on to it behind the entrance desk until I left that night but the employees must have lost it because upon leaving the bouncer had no idea what I was talking about. Hope someone enjoyed the birthday present.. :(
Always a fun time, i go as often as possible with my friends and we always make some awesome memories each time. great music, great dance floors, bouncers are so nice & the people in general are fun... would recommend if you are into the country stuff... the only weird thing is when gangster type people go in there i feel uncomfortable like Im a country girl i wouldnt walk up in a booty popping club in some wranglers and boots and just look at everyone... why come into cowboys in Js and sagging pants and look at everyone like theyre crazy... but other than the occasional thing like that its a great place. 😌
Evan though i wish it had a bigger dance floor. I loved it super cool bartender pretty cool atmosphere. If im not mistaking you can not smoke inside which is evan better. I was visiting from out of town. Would definitely come back!
Good size venue but the silver tables they sell you for $60 dollars a seat suck!!!!!! The view is horrible and be prepared to see the heads of the people in front of you all night. Your better off paying the general admission for a cheaper price and a way better view!!!!
Awesome times
It would not surprise me if this place has trouble getting repeat business from customers considering while wating for three hours before a concert we heard the same songs at least 4 times from the DJ. Not only that but the opening act sang some of the same songs the DJ had been playing. The DJ should know what is on the set list and not play these songs beyond the fact that they should not repeat songs in the same night. There are thousands of song choices for couples dancing and the selection was pathetic at best. I noticed that a good portion of the attendees were of age 40 or older and Im sure they wouldnt minding dancing to a variety of country from the past decades.
Definitely a great place to be on the weekend with friends. The atmosphere was great, the music was amazing, was nice and clean. Definitely going again
Nice big dancehall feeling. Lots of dance lessons available. Far from downtown so if youre a tourist, its a pricey cab ride. A coat check would be nice since most people dance
This place is good but whenever you come out you wont find you truck there my friend truck got stolen an some one held him by gun point an no security around a lot of car an truck broke in too
Bartender girl too busy flirting gave me drink without being dressed I asked her if she could dress one of the drinks she gave me attitude and told me she heard me. Rude person needs to get trained to be friendly to customers.
Went to a Brett Young concert here. It was great. A little crowded, I happened to be at the right place and time and was pleased, enjoyed myself. Great show and I purchased a T-shirt.
This place is gross and only gross ppl go here. Bad experience. Also lots of underage drinking going on. Feels like the are aware of this and the teenage sex that I witnessed. They even have a teen night specifically for this heathenism. Parents of these kids just dont care. This place just dont care. Ive witnessed so much n one night I wont allow my teens there. This place is shameful. This place should be shut down.
Had a blast! Can’t wait to return.
