We lived at Sonterra West Apartments for a few months in 2020 and loved it. The property and apartments are clean and kept up very well. We also loved that the property is gated and the area is safe. The staff is top-notch and were always so friendly to us. Kim, the manager, is one of the kindest people you will meet and very down to earth! She was great about communicating with us, always professional, helpful, and made our first apartment/home experience amazing! We were sad to leave, but we are thankful for the memories that these apartments hold for us!Thank you, Sonterra West team for being so great and making the first step in our PCS so easy. We appreciate it!If you are a young couple, military couple, single, or a small family, and are reading these reviews on Google because you are looking for a great, affordable apartment, we highly recommend Sonterra West Apartments.We would also like to add that the bug issue mentioned in a few of these reviews was taken care of. We never dealt with any pests inside or out of our apartment, and we know from personal experience that the pest control Sonterra West uses is amazing and effective.

My rating is closer to 4.5While I was living at sonterra west, management changed 3 times, but every time they were attentive, friendly and easy to work with. The apartment complex is in a good location right by a main road, and is quiet and safe. Management will take care of your packages for you. Maintenance was quick to respond and did a good job. They change the filters and spray for bugs every month. When I moved in the apartment was clean and well taken care of. At one point someone kept parking in my parking spot- and management dealt with it quickly.The *only* reason I would take away half of a star is because laundry is not in unit (although this is difficult to find in San Angelo anyway), there wasn’t a microwave. Beyond that, I can’t complain about my experience!

We moved to San Angelo on last minute military orders a few months ago and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Kim, the manager, and Ariel made the application and then move in process seamless. Omar, the maintenance man, is quick and reliable with anything and everything community wide! Rent is also well within all ranks of BAH rates and bills are kept low!The grounds are beautiful, the two gates make you feel very safe and secure, theres a new awning at the swimming pool, and new card and coin operated machines in the large and clean laundry facility! Pest control comes once a month and the office always has treats on national food days! The monthly news letter makes sure you never miss out on any neighborhood or town wide activities!AMAZING location, close to everything (1 min to HEB, Starbucks, Walgreens and so much more), but off the main road! Neighbors are friendly and quiet with a mix of people from military families, working professionals, to retirees.Sonterra West is the right choice for anyone looking to rent! We will definitely be coming back here if the military sends us back this way!

I have been nothing but impressed with the professionalism by the Manager( Kim )and the Staff at Sonterra West. Their value of safety, attentiveness to maintenance and incredible level of professionalism only confirms that my choice to live in this Apartment Community was a fantastic decision. I highly recommended anyone looking for somewhere to live, to come here. You will definitely feel like family!

The place is super well kept and clean. The office staff is on the ball and they hop to when you need something. Fran, the manager is by far the coolest landlord Ive ever had. She always makes me laugh. They sometimes have free candy up there too, and as a barely functioning adult I appreciate that.

Took them two months to fix the A/C unit. Carpet was nasty before I moved in. Also had bugs.

Former resident here.When my house suddenly sold after months being on the market, I knew that I needed to get into an apartment ASAP. The staff at Sonterra West were so friendly and helpful! I was able to get moved out of my house and into my new apartment within 3 days!I now live in a different part of Texas but I wanted to put this review out there to give kudos to the wonderful staff at Sonterra West. Fran, Jaci and Richard - thanks for a great year!

Kim and Brittny are absolutely amazing! I called because I needed a couple of questions answered and they were super sweet and answered my questions better than I could have imagined! Way to go!

Fran the Manager is the best and has always been very cheerful and delightful to work with. She has always been very accommodating. She’s a veteran and understands the demands of the military and is very accommodating to military members.

Great staff, really easy to talk to. Any issues Ive had have been attended to in a timely manner. Like the laminate flooring in the living room/kitchen but I wish it was put in the bedroom and closet.

The power has been going in and out in our apartment for a couple weeks now. The bathroom is the only room the power stays on. Last night it was out from 11pm to 3 am then came back on and was out again by the time i woke up at 830.

Front office is super nice and friendly, amenities are nice and well kept!

Stayed 3 months on PCS orders. This was not my first choice but they were the only people calling me back.Saw roaches even after they sprayed each month. The walls are thin. I could hear my neighbor vomiting each morning very loudly and hear him pee. The people above me would talk loundly.Very very small but it was 2 people and a newborn.I don’t think the price is good for what you get.Good things is staff is good and always had room in the laundry for washing.

The front desk ladies were never straight up with me. Always acted like they had better things to do. Coming from 8+ years of customer service it was like their customer service wasn’t existent. Very unprofessional. The apartment itself is the same story. Cockroaches every night no matter how many times the grumpy lady from bug express came. The walls were paper thin and couldn’t stand hearing everyone live there lives. More details could be added to this part but I’ll save y’all from the extra. Any random charge on my bill they would say “ we have no idea why it’s there. “ i don’t know was a common phrase they used here. Come rent a place here if you want to work with clueless/unprofessional moody people. If y’all don’t like where y’all work why did y’all apply in the first place?

These are the worst apartments I have ever lived in . The website looks nice and the staff is friendly except for the maintenance guy . Me and my fiancé had about two good months living here, and the rest of the year it started going downhill . The heater went out and it took them forever to fix it so we had to sleep with extra blankets for a while . Then they finally fixed it after a few weeks and when summer time came around the A/C started to leek into the carpet and that was the worst of the worst . We complained for about 6 months or more and we even bought our own shampooer to clean the carpet and soak up all the water that was wetting the carpet since they still wouldn’t do anything about it . It got so bad it started to travel into the entrance of the bedroom and into the closet wetting all of our shoes on the floor and eventually leading up to mold all over shoes and even carpet . We complained for the millionth time and they claimed to have tried to come over to “fix” the issue while we were out of town . Well they then called asking if we had an extra key because their key wasn’t working to get into our apartment so even more time passes and still no work was done . By the time we came home as soon as we walked in, it REEKED of mildew and mold we had to cover our noses and by this time I was actually already pregnant so this was unacceptable. The manager said that she couldn’t reimburse us for anything that was damaged because it was maintenance fault and blah blah blah and on top of that she gave me attitude over the phone . Our shoes and some of our personal belongings were ruined because of this and the carpet was so soaked we had to wear shoes to get to the kitchen or go to the restroom and you could hear the water in the carpet with each step you took . Then when you tried going to the kitchen and go from carpet to tile obviously it’s going to be slippery with all that water and we almost slipped so many times . Finally the month that our lease was going to end, after about 10 months, they came over and they finally did something about it . Hmm what a coincidence ? When our lease is almost up, you fix it? On top of all that, maintenance took forever to even fix a small problem. It’s that old guy that’s been there for a while . He doesn’t seem to care much about his job. Bug express doesn’t even do their job, they claim to have sprayed but yet roaches still came out even though we kept things clean . Our apartment was outdated and the shower head kept leaking . They have thin walls and our neighbors smoked weed and it would travel through our vents . The gate never works like it should and the bump coming in scrapes the bottom of your car pretty bad. Good luck if you move here .

I moved from out of state into Sonterra West Apartment and stayed for just three weeks. During that time I discovered the complex had a very serious cockroach issue. Despite regular sprayings, I saw cockroaches, both big and small, numerous times each day. Clearly their extermination company was failing to fix the issue. They were in every room and there were even dead ones smashed in a cabinet, apparently killed by previous tenants. Because I had not moved any furniture into the unit yet, I made the decision to move to a different place to avoid the risk of all of my things being infested once they arrived. Cockroaches are unhealthy to live with and so I broke my six-month lease. Sonterra proceeded to turn over the next five months rent to a collection agency and did not acknowledge their failure of keeping the unit a sanitary and safe place to live. Again, I was there for just three weeks, left the unit cleaner than when I arrived and they already had my deposit -- which I feel would easily cover the expense of re-listing the unit, or better yet, hiring a new exterminator. Dont let the looks fool you, this place is dirty.

The apartment I had was great. Quiet and the neighbors were nice. The bar next door was the only reason I moved out. I was there 4 months out of 6. I paid off my rent and I get a phone call last month saying I owed an electric bill and utilities. I paid my own electricity. I go in Saturday to settle up and get my deposit back and the girl I talked to dont even work there anymore. The guy I talked to Saturday said I was only getting $94 of my deposit back because they took out the electricity bill I owed and had to clean the stove and drip pans which i used once while i was there. I didnt stay to hear what else they charged me for but i do know that apartment was cleaned when i moved out than when i moved in. Dont live here if you want to sleep cuz that bar next door wont let you sleep and they are open 7 days a week and the cops wont do anything about the noise.
