I would give this Planet Fitness five stars if it wasnt for their rude staff. The gym itself was great very clean with the exception of a couple empty sanitation stations. Next time when addressing the local mask mandates please be blunt instead of giving rude remarks because you dont know when someone is visiting from another state.

Some people dont wear masks correctly and wipe down machines.Edit in response to PFs message: there has never been a manager available. The employees have told me theyre powerless. And there are so many people not cleaning their machines if I reported them all I would never have time for a workout; covid or not, thats disgusting. I posted this review in light of the fact that this has happened every single time I have gone to work out, which are off hours when there are fewer people there.

It was a great experience noone in there while Me and a Buddy worked out. We wiped down our equipment after use. Update: So I signed up for planet fitness with a credit card they also wanted a checking or a savings account tied to it the 1st payment took out money from my credit card then when I went in they told me that they couldnt let me keep my account open unless I updated my information because they need an actual savings or checking number to take money from I told them I wanted them to take the money from my credit card so I never had to worry about overdraft fees I dont live paycheck to paycheck I just want to use my credit card for all my recreational uses I was told no. So I canceled very disappointed

For sure its a gym. Great features and wonderful environment for beginner fitness goers. Would recommend for a non intimidating and easy first time gym experience.Im picky about my PF locations, so Im not a fan of the layout, its fairly small comparatively, only because its old and it doesnt have a jungle gym. Which really bummed me out. The weightlifting section can only have 4 people in at at a time which was a little upsetting. None the less!! Great gym!! Just beware traveling PF members. Its on the older side.

Clean equipment. But the space is tight. Not a lot of room for people to move around in. One of the smaller gyms I have been to around the country. Super easy check in process. Great customer service. Clean showers as well. Semi Truck parking available nearby. Overall, a good workout. Will be back next time Im in Salem.

This is the first gym Ive ever been to. The staff are friendly and helpful. You get a tour of the facility first time in if you choose. Since a year ago, it has never smelled of sweat or dirty. You can design your own program with a trainer for your needs and body type. It is truly a judgements free zone. Im extremely happy about with Planet Fitness.

We were in the area and wanted to workout with our Black Cards so we looked up PF in the area and came to the one with highest stars, it was this one! Sunday afternoon 4pm it’s clean and great customer service. Tons of newer machines and the locker room is also LOVELY. Can’t go wrong with the Hydro Bed for recovery after a workout, and they have a great spa area! I’ll be back for sure.

Have been a guest two nights in a row, its been a great experience starting my fitness journey from scratch. Plenty of room even when the gym is at capacity, staff are friendly and helpful when they need them, and mind their own business when you dont. I plan on getting a black card membership ASAP.

Almost going to be two years with still no working hair dryer in the mens room. Well before covid I had asked about it and the manager said they were working on it and put an order in for one. What a giant lie.The water is room temperature almost lukewarm and taste like metal.This location hasnt been good since Miguel and other staff members left.Go the extra miles and try the south salem one. Much nicer and with ice cold waterAlso beware. I signed up for no commitment which means I pay annual fee same year i signed up and now theyre telling me I need to pay a buyout fee, even tho I was just charged my second year annual fee a couple months ago.

I really enjoy working out at Planet Fitness. Staff have always been great to me. I also like the new people meter on their app so you know if its crowded or not.

This place is such a scam. My grandma signed up for a membership here and then moved into a nursing home. She closed out her account because she was no longer able to go and after 2 years, they were fraudulently charging her account MULTIPLE TIMES every month for different amounts. From $4-$39 multiple times a month. Shes elderly and would hardly notice these charges but recently had someone else gain control of her finances. They denied any charges and wouldnt do anything. They are thieves from the elderly and someone is getting paid every month off of her

I have been a member about a month. The price was right, and as of today I havent run into.big crowds or the typical gym bum.

I signed up for service over a year ago and then I moved to Washington state. I was locked into a membership so I let it take out the membership until the year was over because I was told it would cost more money to cancel. Now more than 2 years later.they are still taking money out of my account. I spoke to their supervisor and he said the only way they would even consider helping me is if I physically walked in and showed them my Bank account. I live 3 hours drive now in the middle of a pandemic and recently my vehicle stopped running as well. I asked them if I could email them a copy of my bank statement proving they continue to withdraw money from my account and they still refused. Ice never been treated like a criminal when they are.the ones who are taking something from me without permission. Not to mention I was a relatively content customer for a year. I offered faxing and emailing and anything else I could do to rectify this matter and they continued to refuse unless I drove down to them. I even offered going to my local gym affiliate in Washington and they still wouldnt work with me. Why would I go to such a hassle for $10 if it wasnt true? The only reason I cant drop it is because they will continue to charge my card for eternity since they say their records dont show a withdrawal.

All I needed was too take a shower...witch I did and I had a offer to use a tanning bed.

The front desk isnt friendly to me and are rather unprofessional if you ask me. They either ignore you or give you an attitude like you are bothering them. The changing area is dirty and I found a dirty tampon and Stained underwear in a locker last week. I think Ill be taking my business elsewhere. It feels more like your Herpes headquarters than a fitness club.

I called them to get a price Quote and they hang up on me. I called them 3 more times and I got the same response they disconnected there phones.Terrible customer service.😡

They do everything possible to prevent membership cancellations. Go somewhere else. I reached out to franchise corporate after they wouldnt let me speak to management. A reputable company would have a cancellation form under account management. I reached out to the management team as requested, they denied any knowledge of this review and didnt really care about the negative reviews.

I signed up here a few days ago at a gym which has open 24/7 posted by its door. Ive just arrived on a Saturday morning to find that they dont open until 7. Its downright shocking to be lied to like this. Dont let them trick you like they tricked me.

I’ve unfortunately never felt welcomed at this location. Rarely greeted at check-in and no one there seems to enjoy their job. It’s typically more crowded than other locations since the facility itself is quite crowded. Today was really the last straw for me coming here as 10 minutes before close they decided to shut off the lights in order to get people out. I absolutely love the Commercial Street location and highly recommend there if you are wanting to feel a part of a community and that you are cared for as a member.

The absolute worst customer service. I signed up just before the pandemic, the gym closed and they weren’t charging fees. When they re-opened for a bit I decided I wanted to call and cancel my membership for Covid reasons. They insisted I freeze my account because things would be better in a few months. When my freeze ended I tried calling to cancel but since they closed again I wasn’t able to get ahold of anyone via email or phone. Fast forward to February and I see a charge on my account I called and they verified they opened back up again so I kindly requested to cancel my membership due to Covid reasons (I am not in a contract) they said I needed to come in person or send a certified letter, but that she would freeze my account another 90 days to allow me time decide if I want to keep my membership or to get a certified letter out to cancel. She assured me absolutely no fees would be taken out except the one that was taken out this month. Less than 2 weeks later I see 39.99 taken out of my account I call to find out why and they said it’s an annual fee, I said I was told no fees would be taken out during the freeze, the manager told me that’s only membership fees and that he was sorry the employee gave me wrong information but that he won’t be refunding the fee because there was a miscommunication on how a freeze works (keep in mind his employee explained to me how it works and said absolutely no fees would be taken out) I asked to speak to his manager and he told me he doesn’t give out his manager Info. I asked to speak with someone at a corporate office and he told me they don’t have a corporate office and that essentially I was speaking to the person with the highest authority at planet fitness, and If I wanted to I could possibly google their franchise to find someone to speak with. HUGH at planet fitness on Lancaster is on a power trip and thrives on stealing individuals money. Take your business elsewhere TRUST ME..

Nice people working there, they all know your name. Manager Warren very nice guy, he keeps place cleaned and sanitized. There’s always sanitizer spray bottles and paper towels available for members to use. Austin gym trainer he’s an awesome trainer and very professional guy, very proactive, you can see him picking up weights left on the floor or just keeping an eye in the entire place, I feel lucky to train at this place with these great people!

I joined planet fitness sometime last year because the price was great for exactly what I needed. Open 24hrs so I could work out after my little one and his dad fell asleep. Since Covid, I haven’t been able to go at all since the hours have been changed & they’ve been closing early! :( I’m hoping everything goes back to normal soon! 🤞

No control shown for enforcing any Covid regulations. Multiple groups averaging a foot spaced, some were walking around with a mesh face mask trying to help people. Staff stopped asking Covid screening questions as well.

Well Im still being charged monthly even though the gym has been closed for 9 months. I dont live in salem anymore and when I call customer service they tell me to call or go to home gym even though they are closed. So we have spent about 200$ in membership fees when we cant even go into the gym. Very upset. They just continue to charge for monthly fees

Not good. Gym lacking and unfortunately most staff really picky and rude. They also get very particular on masks. I dont remember ever reviewing a company, ever, but this was bad enough.My parents had a membership here as well and warned me about lack of service and overcharges (other peoples charges were being charged to their account...never got refunded that money back), but I didnt listen and paid for it.

Can’t help but to wonder why planet fitness remains closed and continuing to deduct monthly dues while all other gyms in the area are open, quite disappointing. Just another example of how it is subpar compared to other gyms.

I havent been to the gym since COVID came in March. Obviously I was a bit nervous about cleanliness and transmission. I decided to go today and I felt wayyyy safer than I do when I go to the grocery store. Go. Do it. It helps.

About two months ago I called Planet to cancel my membership. I was told over the phone that I just had a month left to pay before cancellation, so I decided to just pay it. At no point during that call was I made aware that I also needed to come in and cancel in person. You would think that if that’s what i’m calling for that’d be something that’s brought up. Well today I looked at my bank account and saw that I was being charged again. When I came in, the lady that helped me didn’t seem to care at all that I was cheated out of money. Lol. When I asked to speak to a manager I was simply told they weren’t around. Wasn’t even offered their contact info! Seems to me this is a shady tactic to get your money. STAY CLEAR.Update: AND due to the lockdown, they’re closing for two weeks! So for half the month of the membership I didn’t want, I can’t even go!

I walked in and I saw the manager Garren being rude and disrespectful to his employees. They were standing there talking to me and I told him it was my fault and to excuse them and he looked at me and was all sweet and nice. And then he yelled at his employee to go into the office! That was the worst experience I ever had at any gym! I don’t want to cause issues but if a manager treats there employees like that, that is bad! That’s a place I would never ever want to visit! And I won’t! Horrible place, and I walked into the ladies room and it smelled like someone was smoking pot inside. I hope the employees know there worth and their value to the community.

I tried to cancel my membership on several occasions they make it almost impossible to do so if I were you unless you want a membership for life I wouldnt join!!!! Im still trying to cancel my membership have been paying for months without ever using it. I got injured and have been unable to get into this facility to cancel my membership. I have wasted hours trying to cancel my membership over the past year. Planet Fitness keeps taking my money after I repeatedly ask them to cancel my membership. They will steal from you.

Usually the staff is very friendly, and the place is clean. I get smiled at, greeted, and I get a great workout. After today, my excitement of going to workout, is almost dreading it due to not knowing if 1 person is working. Hes a bigger guy, black hair, glasses, and a HORRIBLE attitude. One of the massage chairs is broken right now, so it takes tokens while the other one goes automatically. My friend and I always use them at the same time, so we dont really pay attention to the numbers were assigned. That, and they didnt specify which one was broken when they handed the coins over. We put them in the wrong machine, no big deal, my friend went to get more for the actually broken machine. I would leave before mine was done since it would go for double the time. The guy mentioned above was VERY rude to my friend, saying we shouldnt have messed up and now the other would go for double the time, and he wouldnt give the coins to my friend at first. We almost didnt want to go up front to sign up for a class and Im tempted to cancel my membership and go elsewhere. I should not be embarrassed for a human error that wasnt a huge deal, and dread seeing 1 person when I go to the gym. Its bad enough I have anxiety that I usually help with exercise, but its always busy so until I get my heart rate to a certain point, it feels like Im dying.

Great price with lots of cons. Going to the gym started out great. We were told we had to wipe down our machines when we’re done using them by the staff when we signed up. Past few months me and my wife have seen lots of people not cleaning the machines when they are done using them. So we decided to bring it the staff attention. And the response we got was “ it’s not mandatory to wipe down the machines when you are done but it’s encouraged. We do clean the machines once a week.” Well that’s disgusting. I didn’t bother to ask how often they clean the bathrooms and showers. That being said I would think they would be more up to par on cleaning since it’s 24/7 and a large volume of people coming in and out.....what would you say if you went out to eat and the table was cleaned only once a week....Also the gym is always busy unless you go after 830pm so if you do plan on working out go late in the evening or really early in the morning. I have went to the gym and literally had to wait to use a machine. They have more clients then they do equipment. Oh and if you want to lift weights good luck that area is generally packed and even if you can get weights in you hand you have very little room to move them. So here I am paying $20 a month for a membership I can’t use most of the week due to over crowding. They need to expand if they are going to keep taking on more clients.

If you join, pay a little extra each month for the black card. You will not only have 24 hr access to the gym. You may bring a guest every time and personally have full access to the tanning beds, massage chairs and beds, and body sculpting technology. You also get discounted beverages. The staff at Planet Fitness are supportive and helpful and the clientele are clean respectful. Lockerrooms are spacious, lockers are a breeze to use, and showers are clean.

Horrrible. Horrible. Ghetto . walked in 757am. Started climbers... Was harrassed 2 times in 4 mins about my mask. Which was hanging on my nose and had taken photo directly as meriah or the larger employees name, kicked me out? And no voice was raised... I had pushed mask up. Rude, aggressive.

I love this place so much, that I actually want to work here. Haha.Its clean, the staff is always friendly, the equipment is straight forward, and if for any reason you cannot figure it out, they will help you to.Its a cheap, affordable way to stay fit and healthy, maintain mental health, and be around people with similar goals.

Great staff, however when I go I work up a good sweat but for the last 2-3 months they have been fixing the hot water problem. I dont know about other people but I like to be clean after I work out this needs to be a priority not something that they keep putting off 😡!!!

Great staff, cheap service, usually crowded. Great if you want to workout with weights in the middle of the night or workday. If you intend to lift right after work or right after dinner (5-6PM & 8-11PM respectively) you are going to have to use the machines. They offer fitness classes as well. I havent taken them and dont have an opinion on them yet.

Pretty decent selections of machines, workout sessions and benefits like tanning and massage beds for black card members. Usually really clean and nice staff. Only complaint is it gets pretty warm in there.

Pretty great gym for the price. Clean, open 24 hours, I actually see people wiping down equipment which is awesome. Only complaint is that they put music on for one audience. Not everyone likes hip hop and rap. And the 4 political TV channels on at once? Try a cartoon channel or a movie maybe on a couple :)

The staff are very helpful when providing advice. Everyone working in the gym appears to be in good spirits and keeps the gym looking clean. The gym has slow times during the day which make it easier to workout. The massage chairs and tanning beds are by far my favorite way to end a great workout.

I love the staff and it’s truly a judgment free zone. However, I noticed with the tanning beds the bulbs aren’t always kept up to date. Example tanning bed number 6 the middle face lamp has been dead for at least a month. It seems like a small complaint but major let down when you don’t get what your expecting.

This location just updated all of their cardio equipment with a handful of new additions. They had an opportunity to upgrade the machines as well but sadly passed on that. The new machines are very simple in terms of features and options. They work well but dont tie in to an apple watch or any other fitness tracking other than what the screens tell you. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the locker rooms and equipment are always clean which is appreciated. It is a good gym for the cost.

Not sure why I bothered with renewing my membership. Hot water has been out for over a month now. Based on other reviews longer than that. I do wonder if they are doing this to deter customers from using the showers.

Room for improvement!!! Staff don’t seem to know rules or equipment very well. Total body enhancement has multiple bulbs burned out and ventilation fan that makes a horrible noise when it’s on. Staff was informed on multiple visits and still not addressed. Hydro message bed is leaking water on the ground right where you exit the machine leaving your sox with a nice moist feeling for the rest of your workout. These are just a few things I have noticed in the two weeks of renewing my membership... I sure hope they can get back to the gym they use to be ...

Great gym where you can feel secure about working out. Its very clean and smells very nice. Theres also a nice variety of machines to work out on.

The hot water has been out for months. ALSO today there were no paper towels and the attendant said they would not have any today....GO to the store and get some towels. Where is the health department? And there are no cards for the manager AND the attendant would not give me a full name. This location makes the entire Planet Fitness org look bad.

This gym is nice for people who just want to walk on the treadmill or chill and watch other people walk on a treadmill. There are tons of cardio equipment and that seems like what most people like to use here.Bodybuilders:This gym is not ideal for bodybuilders at all. A lot of the equipment has design flaws and many do not accommodate people under about 5 ft 6 in. So petite ladies, prepare to be frustrated by the equipment. Also, the layout is pretty random so you have to walk back and forth across the gym when you use different machines for a particular muscle group. It’s also missing a LOT of crucial equipment which is pretty lame considering how much money the company makes, they should spring for some simple, inexpensive equipment like ab rollers or a quality back extension machine.Casual gym goers:This gym has the best atmosphere of any I’ve ever been to. No one really bothers anyone and people seem really relaxed and patient in their interactions with each other (unlike some classic body building gyms I’ve been to.) The staff is quite nice and the rates are great for people that aren’t super into going to the gym all the time. Also, the locker room facilities are quite nice and I LOVE that there’s actually air flow in this gym!Overall, it’s just okay for me and my preferences, but I do think this gym is far more suited to the average Joe or Jane rather than heavy lifting, body building guys and gals like me so buyer beware!

Clean facility with fantastic customer service and really nice trainers!! Kierstie is a really nice person who made me a plan suited for my abilities and goals! And the whole atmosphere just made me feel comfortable and welcome.

20 bucks a month for the VIP membership that includes massage chairs and beds... Trust me, its worth it.The gym itself its very clean and in excellent shape. We love the fact that is 24 hour place because sometimes we just prefer to train at night because its just less crowded. But It doesnt matter the time you get there, you will always find a parking spot, a locker room and a place to start your training :)

So Ive been coming to this gym for a while and Ive encountered miguel several times and he is aggressive and unpleasant! Hes rude to customers...interrupts you while your speaking and is inattentive to your needs his tone is very rude and he does not make me.feel welcome.at all as soon as able to cancel I am.doing so i would rather pay a few dollars more to go somewhere else than be treated as though hes foing me a favor by allowing me to pay to work.out there!

Made the huge mistake of signing a contract. Didn’t make it into the gym one time, let my contract run out and 9 months later see on my bank statement that they’ve been taking $20 out of my account every month. I called and they said oh it keeps going for another year unless you come in and sign something or mail a letter in? Don’t see how that’s legal but they’re saying they won’t refund. Would highly advise against this place.

Black card says “Unlimited Guess pass to all Planet Fitness Locations” walked in with my boyfriend and brother and they said I can only have one guest, I said okay someone can just sit and wait in the lobby and she told me that they can’t even just sit in the lobby because that’s considered as bringing in more than one... first off why advertise “unlimited guess” if I can only bring one guest? Also how in the world can’t someone just sit at the tables in the front area if they’re not working out? Absolutely ridiculous.. I noticed very early on that some of the front desk people are just there to get a check and are very rude, only two people have been nice to me/helpful while being there.

Nice gym weird setup but new equipment is coming in a week or so and maybe that will make this like the other planet fitness Ive been to. All lay down tanning maybe that will change, and a small gym, esp. for such a big area.BUT, they have lockers that are programmable so no lock is necessary 🙄

There’s a few people that work at this location that have really bad attitudes and tbh I don’t usually feel the need to leave a review.. but some of the employees are just flat out rude and bad at customer service. maybe instead of making your customers feel awkward or like they are a burden, just get a new job that doesn’t involve having to be friendly.I was told that there is no manager or anyone in charge. 👌🏼

Hot water has been ot for months. The amount of out of order signs is astronomical. Planet fitness generic bot generator...I know... talk to your club manager and were committed to your experience. You can save it.

Not busy good workout

Manager and staff were very helpful. Clients were cheerful and focused. Atmosphere was bright and cheerful with no obvious distractions, all equipment was ready for use.

Its ridiculous with gyms do. Havent been able to go to the gym for 3 months because of Disability. So I called to cancel my membership. Which they charge me for the last 3 months plus the yearly membership fee plus the discontinuing fee which I asked them if they could not charge me. They cant do that,, wow!!.So they made a $150 on a disabled person on and very Limited income. This is ridiculous you guys should search the change your policy and make it more convenient for people. And on top of that. They man mistake with my checking in rounding Number on my account. So they decide to take my payments are the credit card we used for the dollar fee. Seriously its all about the money wheres the humanity and compassion For disable veteran.

Canceling membership now now. 4 times...I tried to complain to management or corporate behind circumstances and on every occasion there is no one to talk to no corporate number no voicemail to leave no way to contact through the web, and most of the employees are indifferent they do not care about their mistakes or how it affects people, and that is lousy customer service in the fact that youre unable to right your wrongs makes it an even more lousy experience Ive been coming to Planet Fitness since it opened and have a great relationship with many of the employees that I will truly miss! Cristobal is number one.

I love the 30 minute work out they have. And after working out I really enjoyed massage chair. The staff is friendly and helpful. The whole gym is clean.

I have never left a one-star review of a business before, but I was very disappointed with the treatment I received yesterday, 10/1/19. Ive been a PF black card member for over a year at this location, and up until yesterday have had a generally good experience. I hit some financial troubles recently and so called last week to cancel my membership (with the hope of reinstating it in a few months when the money works out). I called PF to explain my situation and they said I would need to come in to cancel in person so I could sign something. No problem. I asked if they offer a pro-rated rebate for days you paid for but didnt use. They dont, which is unfortunate, but fine. I asked when I would need to come in to cancel by to not be charged any more fees, and the employee I spoke with told me the 15th (my monthly renew date). I asked again to clarify that if I came in to cancel before the 15th, I would not be charged again. He said yes. Fast-forward a few days to the 1st and I see on my bank statement that I was just charged the $40 annual renew fee. I would have expected the gentleman I spoke with on the phone would have mentioned that when he was looking at the account and I asked if I had any upcoming fees, right? I go to the PF location in person immediately thinking that if I explain the situation, they will understand the miscommunication and refund me the $40 fee that they told me explicitly they would not charge me. The first employee I spoke with was polite and directed me to her shift lead. What followed was the most condescending, patronizing customer service experience I have ever experienced. The employee immediately accused me of lying about the conversion (its a he-said, she-said situation), and says that unless I literally recorded that phone conversation as proof, there is nothing he could do to help! He also goes on at length how this is not an annual fee (the wording used on the companys own website), but a once-a-year, one-time fee. I was literally shocked by how aggressive and accusatory this employee was being towards me. And all that for $40, less than two months of my membership due. It goes without saying that I will not be reinstating my membership with PF in the future and I would strongly encourage anyone else to consider a gym that treats their customers with respect rather than accusation and condescension. My entiren experience was a humiliating and exasperating.

Planet Fitness is a good place. I would like to see more ease to jack into the TV screens as A/V input saves my brain from eating itself alive while Im on the treadmill.

I would give this gym 0 stars if I could. Ive been dealing with this gym for over a year. When I signed up for I my account they never told me that I would be signed into a contract for over a year, it was lost in the fine print. Then I tried to cancel my account they tried to charge me $60. So I decided to wait the year long contract out. Then I ended up moving to a different States so I went into the gym and asked him if he would be able to cancel it at a different gym in another state because I was moving. They said yes. They were wrong. They told me at the other gym in my new home state that I would have to go online and switch my home gyms over. I tried to go online and my log in information was locked so I wasnt able to. I finally came home for Christmas break and went into this planet fitness and try to cancel my account and pay all of the payments I had missed from switching bank accounts and not being able to switch my card over also. They took my money, but didnt cancel my account. So then when I went back to my home state they continue to charge me more and more money. I called them and they said that I had never tried to cancel my account when I did cancel my account and the lady at the front desk had told me that before I left that I had canceled my account. Then proceeded to be rude to me on the phone, and I have to send a letter to a different state just to finally cancel the account that I was told was canceled 2 weeks ago. So About $500 later and I still cant cancel the gym membership I was unable to use because I live in a different state. Oh and did I mention that they were charging my bank $50 at a time but when I call them out and ask about it they had told me that they dont see any record of them charging my bank account that much money. So they were just taking money out and have no idea where it was going..

The great people at Planet Fitness gave a backpack with jump rope, water container and inflatable ball to all the kids at Swegle Boys and Girls Club. Bless your support of local kids, guys!
