This place has horrible customer service. I spoke with the manager over a mix up of vehicles when I was promised a larger vehicle and the manager yelled at me she was hysterical and neurotic. I was transferred to an associate and then I was hung up on. I ultimately had to book with another company, as this one was not able to or willing to get me taken care of. I will never book with this Company ever again. I strongly advise that you do not book with them either.

I hate leaving poor reviews since I know it affects livelihoods. Yet this one is deserved with hopes that people are forewarned and possibly hertz will improve their costumer service. This company stranded my widow mother in law in her 70s on the roadside for hours. She waited on hold for 2 hours for help. She then opted for triple a service since hertz was totally unresponsive. She was made responsible for the tire repairs and was also told to personally deliver the car instead of having a representative pick it up from the tire service center. They said they are β€œunauthorized” to pick up from the tire center. Translation: They are too lazy. I own a couple companies and believe we do whatever we can to help customers, especially those in dire need with less than ideal circumstances. You’ve been warned.

Awful experience! The car I rented had a parental lock which prevented me from driving over 80mph. This was a huge problem since I was driving mostly in Texas where the speed limits are high. I was unable to pass most other cars since I could not exceed 80. Whats worse is that I was not warned of this when I picked up the car. When I called to see about turning off the lock or getting a different vehicle, I could only reach people through the reservation line and they could not help me. They re-directed me to customer service, where I encountered an automated system that always sent me back to the reservation line. That was the only place I could go to speak to a human and they could not, or would not, help me. The parental lock on the car also prevented me from playing music above a certain volume. I am an adult who paid a lot of money to rent a car that I could not drive as I wanted or listen to music as I wanted, and I could not reach anyone at Hertz who could assist me.

These guys are the biggest crooks. Please deal with enterprise or just use a bike if you can.They won’t work with other insurances and they’ll end up charging you the full fee just because they are too lazy to work with the insurance. Then you’ll get dragged into a whole different kind of mess having to get your reimbursement.0 stars, and a piece of advice to the owner. It’s not smart to do such things, there are people out there that won’t take such actions too lightly especially during these times.

No one knew where my rental car was when I went to pick it up. They sent my into the parking lot with the key fob to go around clicking it trying to find my car. I couldnt find it and went to ask the guy outside cleaning cars and he said maybe it was in the next parking lot over. I was injured from a car accident, which is why I needed the rental and very frustrated. I went back in after I still couldnt find my car and someone finally got it for me. I complained about the service and was completely ignored. I did appreciate the gentleman that got my car for me. Ive never had such unprofessional service, though ( I also, work in customer service). I also, have never had a rental car company not do a walk around the vehicle with me to agree on the condition of the car. The car itself was fine except trash in the cupholder. Do yourself a favor and go with enterprise.

Car was great, check out was timely. Front windshield had not been cleaned in the inside.. hard to see at night. Only thing I highly recommend that you check the gas level before you leave. We had a bad experiance. Car read one thing, computer another, and they marked something completely different.

Rude workers, website and digital receipt have the wrong address. Computers dont work, they do manual paperwork and keep your credit card information. I made a reservation online, payed up front and never got a confirmation email, so I called the location. I told the lady what had happened and she didn’t say anything, I just heard her typing. Asked me what my name was, then said they weren’t going to be able to help me because the system shouldn’t have let me pick that car. That they couldn’t do anything for me. That I had to contact whatever third party website I went trough and get my money back. Well the problem is that I got it trough their main website. Now I had to call another number and be on hold for an hour to get a refund that will take 10 days to post. I get it isn’t the ladies fault, but the lack of empathy and the situation just makes it seem like they don’t care.

I went to pick up a rental car and from the beginning Lori was very unprofessional, rude and definitely no work ethics. Also the car was not clean at all exterior or interior (interior super dirty having lots of pets hair). I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone unless you have no other option.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.I prepaid via the pay now for a rental. Called the day before to verify. Upon arriving to the shop, was informed that I would need to run a credit check and was denied the car, even though there is more than enough on the card to cover deposit. Was told by the kid at the register that I had to call customer service to get a refund. Four hours and six calls later, I am on the phone with my credit card company, as it is impossible to reach a Hertz supervisor. The negative reviews are real, zero professionalism, totally disorganized and vacant office located miles away from stated pick up location at Amtrak. Lackluster, gee that sucks attitude from staff and I am now stranded without the car I paid for. Never once had this problem with Enterprise. Do NOT rent from this place. Scammy and shady.

If I could, I would give a 0 star. They got the time wrong for when they were supposed to pick up the rental and arrived an hour early when I wasn’t home. I got a call from Michelle who was at my house and she was extremely rude and told me to then call Becky at the office. Becky proceeded to yell AT me, yell OVER me when I was trying to explain, laugh and mock like it was funny & wouldn’t take my word for it that I never agreed to an 8 am pick up. I have the conversation on recording and will be sending it to corporate but I will NEVER use this company again. They are the most unprofessional business I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve never been treated so terribly by someone who was supposed to be professional. They told me I was not getting my deposit back and would be charged at least another $100 on top of it to pay for the wasted wages of Michelle who showed up too early, mind you. Needless to say, corporate didn’t allow any of this to slide thank goodness but I’ve never heard anything good about this place and now after witnessing this myself I see why.Michelle and Becky Cobb shouldn’t have their jobs... and by the time I’m done hopefully they won’t. Customers shouldn’t have to deal with this.

Wife and I made a last minute reservation and were looking for a rental to drive and leave in California as we were buying a motorhome and dining it back. When we showed up the phone was ringing, The person at the counter was being busy, no cars left and she made time to take care of us and find us a car. Even with the phone ringing off the hook, she still answered the phone and took care of us. Probably the best customer service I have witnessed. Im very happy we chose Hertz here in Salem. This is the office on Lancaster. If you need rental car be sure to check this Hertz office first.

My husband booked a car and paid in full in advance. We arrived to pick up the car to a woman yelling at a client on the phone for a good 5 minutes. She was unprofessional and created an environment where it was difficult and disruptive to others trying to conduct business. Her manager who stood right by her at the counter did not make an effort to right the behavior. We spoke to a young man who simply shrugged his shoulders when we asked if our car would be available. We spoke to the manager who said they don’t promise a car you pay for and book will be available for you. We aren’t talking about a specific vehicle just a car in the class you reserved. We canceled our reservation and went to Enterprise. I typically book all my business rentals through Hertz. I need a car for a ten day business trip but will never get a car from the Salem location. I also expect more from Hertz than a black curtain hanging by a shower rod to separate office space. Horrible first impression.

They are awesome... this establishment went above and beyond for me ...my transfer case broke on my car ...I get a call that my business partner hired a new manager and she went on vacation and the manager never showed up to work theres no money In the till ...in a frantic everyone was trying to figure out the next move and how to get to California... this hertz had only one car left top of the line .. they made it work .. Gave me a discount and got me on the road in less than 30 mins ... they saved me..my team and made it possible to get me on the road right then instead of waiting tell the next day .. Im forever grateful ... and pleased to give them all my business and refer this branch too all my family and friends ... thank you !!!!

They take their time to walk around the car, with you (if you want to), and make sure they note and photograph any previous damage inside and outside the vehicle. However, they were rather unorganized in the parking lot and I wound up waiting for about 5 minutes for them to bring the car around even though it was already perfectly close to the building. Also, it would have been nice to be introduced to the car, i.e. given at least a very brief idea of the basic functions of the car and its electronics.

If you think your rental experience was horrible read what the employees have to say about working there.Sometimes it is literally out of the employees hands on what happens. Cars are hard to come by, hands are tied by upper management and constant threats of write ups on a daily. Terminations happen more than raises and breaks!Seriously, be nice to the employees, they are not given a whole lot to work with and told to deal w it or figure it out.It is a brutal industry to work in.

If i could give negative stars i would. Absolutely the worst rental experience ever. Where do i start. So i needed a cargo van for a week. I was doing the prepay option. I add the insurance but it would not let me prepay the insurance at that time. So i called here and talked with Eli. Explained i have a limit on my credit card and if i book this prepay car rental could i come in and pay the insurance portion so when i go to pick up the vehicle all i would have to pay is the 200 deposit. He said no problem...they could do that. A few days before my rental date i went in to prepay the insurance. Thats when Eli said i couldnt do that. I was furious. He said i could and that is the reason i booked it and prepaid. If you cancel at that time...hertz does not refund you all your money. Fine...i decided to go through private insurance which was a lot cheaper anyways. Less than 24 hours of picking up the vehicle Eli called and said the pick up service i requested they were not going to be able to provide. Less than 24 hours before Im scheduled to pick up the vehicle. Than when i go to rent the vehicle both Eli and the other woman were very cold to me. Whatever....i was there to get the vehicle and leave. Than when i return the vehicle i was an hour late. I explained to them that when i was cleaning the van i fell out and went to emergency room where they said i sprained both my ankles. Its not something you can hide. They were huge. And i had the paperwork to prove i just came from there. They didnt care. They charged me extra because i was an hour late. Again both workers eli and the woman were very cold and treated me like i was below them or unimportant. They were not welcoming at all. Not a happy place. I probably dont need to mention they had no car service to take me home. Ive never had such horrible experience renting a car. Ive rented from enterprise and dollar and thrifty and a few others. All had great customer service. This was more than an awful experience. Its surprising they have people like this working in front dealing with customers. They have zero people skills.

First of all they were supposed to pick me up at 8:30, the auto body place i was at suggested that I call and make sure they are coming because they tend to leave people. So I do, and they didnt have the rental guy on his way, so we wait an extra 25 minutes till he arrives. Then, we get to hertz. The lady takes phone call after phone call (we were the only ones in the building) without saying just a moment or anything. Okay, whatever. So then Im sitting with my tired, fussy daughter who was crying. We have been waiting for them to come get us from the auto body shop and then for the lady to finish getting us a car, as shes taking her time. She then has the nerve to tell us we need to go outside with our crying daughter because she cant hear on the phone. In the rain, in the cold, with no jacket. My boyfriend first refused but then I decided okay, if it makes her any quicker on getting us a car why not. We werent outside for longer then 10 minutes, but still. Ive never in my life would tell someone to go outside in the cold with their child because shes crying. Overall it took almost 1.5 in total time to get a rental (from 830), I was late to my other appointment. We have went through Enterprise before, they are FRIENDLY, and quick. And Im sure they would have suggested something other then to go stand out side with my daughter if she was bothering them that much. I cannot wait to return the car and never come back.

First time renting with Hertz thru my insurance 9/2019. Costumer service needs a lot of improvement. Car smelled like cigarettes. I called to let them know I was stuck on traffic and might be 2-3 minutes late... her answer we close at 5:30... made it @5:29. The way a lady next to me was treated because she had her daughter translate for her was very dissapointing. I hope I never have to rent at this location again. Over $9 per gallon if you dont return car filled up??? Seriously???

She has the audacity to tell me based off my credit score I am more likely to steal the car then to return it. I only went thru this company because its who my insurance company uses.I set up a reservation and gave all the claim info a week before I needed the vehicle. I was told the car would be at the dealership the night before my repair drop off time.Two days prior to my appt., I called to confirm my reservation, Michelle couldnt find me in the computer. I was then told they dont drop off cars, but they would meet me at the dealership and take me back to Hertz in Salem. When I raised a fuss cuz thats not what I was told originally, Michelle then told me the car would be dropped off at 730 for my 8 am appt.Needless to say the car was not there when I arrived. The dealership called to find out where the rental was. He was told the employees had left Salem for Mcminnville an hour prior. The rental showed up shortly afterwards.Despite giving all my information a week prior, the woman had no paperwork with her. She called the office and Michelle told me she would email me the paperwork that night. Off course it is 1030 the next day and still no paperwork.Upon calling Hertz this morning, Michelle tells me she had been there all day by herself yesterday and didnt have a chance to do any emails.Any time I have spoken with Michelle she has been rude and condescending.The dealership doing my body work wont use Hertz due to their lack of customer service and now neither will I! GO TO ENTERPRISE!

Hertz is great but they will lie to you. Theyll tell you that there is a cheap rate. And 3 days later youll get a bill thats $200 more than you planned on paying. Theyll stalk you with insurance fees when you didnt agree to and buy any insurance. Still tie up your credit card in all kinds of legal knots. And theyll make you do deals the require you to buy 2 and 3 and 4 days when all you wanted was a simple one day package do not trust Hertz car rental.

Apsolutely worst experiance ever and im still fighting it. I was rear ended and so the other persons insurance sent me to hertz so i had no choice. So i picked up the rental paid for by the insurance and am told there is a 50 dollar deposit i have to pay and i will get it back upon return of the vehicle which i agreed to. Then they asked if i wanted to pay for the tank of gas that was all the way full which she said would cost 36 dollars and since i didnt intend to drive the car that much i chose to NOT pay for the tank of gas and just return it full. She even made sure to tell me they would just take it out of the deposit (how nice of them) I told the girl that i had to borrow the 50 dollars and so it wasnt even mine and so i would need it back. So we returned the car at the same gas level it was when picked up excepting that to be the end of our experience. Well a few days later we realize our bank account has been overdrafted because they took 49 dollars out of our account. So i immediately call the office and am told that it was an error on there end and that i would be refunded the money no problem but it could take up to two weeks. So i wait two weeks and no money is put into my account so i call them back today and they tell me there is nothing they can do and to call there billing department so i do. Then billing tells me that it is my fault for excepting the gas charge that they snuck in there right after telling them no and now they say there is nothing they can do. Long story short is do not trust these people. The entire situation was very intentional. They refuse to take accountability for being theives with misleading buisness practices.

Im only giving 1 star because 0 isnt an option. I reserved a rental car online for pickup at noon, when the place was closed at NOON. No one inside the facility, doors were locked and no one in sight. Dont know if the person there dipped out early, but locking your door at closing and not even anyone getting anything together or being in the parking lot is suspicious. Not to mention, why on earth do you make a car able to reserve for a set pick up time when you CLOSE at that time? Very unhappy as we needed the car for tomorrow morning at 5am to leave town. Hertz has lost any chance at my business and I will be going elsewhere for any future car rental needs. I suggest you do too, or talk to someone in person if you plan on renting from this place so you dont get screwed like we did.

Two weeks ago we rented a car but the 1st one had a a tire flaw, so we got a free upgrade to an Avalon. That was a treat. The other problem last time was their computer was down so everything was hand written. This time the computer was up but the manager made us go to AAA to verify my wifes membership when we should have been able to do it over the phone. Thankfully they were close. We had arranged for a car, and then we had to wait a day to get it. Totally thru off our travel plans and we missed the wedding that was the main event of our trip.

Terrible experience, car itself was fine. State Farm asked that I go to this location after my car was in an accident. Took over an hour to get the van. Unprofessional environment.Got the car, no mention that the gas was close to a 1/4 tank. Also someone’s McDonald’s was left in the door in the 2nd row.Brought the car back after a few weeks later, tried to fill the car up close to what I got it at and got our stuff out like I would do to any rental. Got a bill for over 50 dollars in fuel charges and a 35 dollar excess cleaning bill.Called their office, talked with their manager Becky. She was rude and unprofessional. Told me that it was my job to return the car with exactly the fuel that I got it at and it was company policy not to start the car with a full tank. Also that her workers said car was β€œexcessively dirty”. Asked for before and after pictures couldn’t provide them. Asked for a refund. She eventually hung up on me.Called hertz National they promptly refunded both charges. Unreal how bad the service was. No idea how anyone there is employed.

That was one of the worst experiences of my life was going to Hertz Rent-a-Car and they said oh well they didnt update the cars that were available every 24 hours or maybe they only updated it every 24 hours but I was scheduled to get a car and they didnt have any for me and they said I could drive a great big something or other that only got 15 miles to the gallon or maybe 20 on the road or something and I said I dont care I had to go I had to go but my son refused to drive such a big vehicle and he said he wasnt going to let me drive it over two Forks Washington so we took his car I was very disappointed in Hertz car

❌ Repeated sales calls for people that do not live at the residence.Disrespectful sales associates, I was hung up on when asked to speak to a supervisor. When I called I spoke with a disrespectful sales manager by the name of Cory. Also the regional manager who I spoke with was condescending and did not care about my complaint one bit. Like two peas in a pod.If I was in the market for buying a car I would never give these people any business.I wouldnt recommend.

The vehicle i rented was wonderful. The customer service how ever was the opposite. Ladies were trash talking the customer before me with each other right in front of me as Im checking in. Then when I drop of the car the gas was 1 line under what their picture said it was at, they charged me 40 bucks for gas. Even though that one line would have been maybe 5 dollars or less. Then when I questioned the charge of gas one of the ladies got all snappy at me and brought up the fact that I signed a contract and told me she had way more important things to do their at the site. I simply just asked for an explanation. Anger management classes maybe? Will not rent from here again.

Tried using online reservation and was told i needed to call. Called and was put on hold for over 5 minutes. Called back later and again extended hold. Called third time and talked to someone who took my info but said all computers were busy. I told him Id already waited a lengthy time and could they just call me once they had it figured out. Three hours later and no call. Never have I had such a difficult time spending money.Very poor service!

We rent cars here all the time we need one. Their desk clerks are friendly. The only issue we have, which seems all the time, is that the cars are not ready for us to just go, sign and leave, but we like their prices and unlimited miles.

Most immature and disrespectful branch manager (Becky) and assistant branch manager (Tim) of any business I have ever delt with. The terms says ordinary ware due to reasonable use is expected. I rented a car for 17 days and took it to California to camp. When I returned the car was in perfect physical condition, except it was dusty on the inside. I had given it a simple once over with the vacuum but thats the first time Ive ever cleaned a rental out of the 10+ Ive rented. When I got to the drop off Becky and Tim were not happy about the dust. They reacted like a mother scolding her child. Raising their voices and treating me with complete disrespect, When I tried to respond to them reasonably they shut the door in my face.

We went there to just look..we found a car I fell in love with..my car got hit a few weeks ago as a hit and run at my work and they still took it in on trade in with the damage..this is the 3rd vehicle we have gotten from them and they have always gone out of their way to help us..the service is fast and super friendly Casey was a huge help and made sure we were getting what we wanted..thank you Casey and Hertz Salem!

Place was closed when we went to pick up the car at noon and was closed on Sunday. 2 days of our week rental. Luckily customer service was able to refund our money but the whole situation was ridiculous and awful.
