This place is phenomenal; everyone (coaches and students) is so welcoming, encouraging, and kind. I had no experience in Muay Thai prior to coming to this gym and that didnt change how they viewed me. There is absolutely no judgment in this gym (except maybe for the type of anime you watch ;p). I have received so much guidance from the people here and I can feel myself getting stronger and better after each class. Everyone here is becoming like family and Im so thankful for this place. After a hard day at work, this is the one thing that I do for myself to relieve stress, build confidence, and improve my game. Not to mention its a killer workout ;)
Adult classes - Ive been coming here for almost a year, and this has been such a great experience. The coaches are amazing and with years of experience. They go around the room, making sure your technique/form are correct. They do this by telling you how to correct it or give a friendly hit to remind you to always have your hands up! Even if youre tired, keep them up. Dont let them down!! I see everyone as friends/family versus members/coaches of the gym. We support each other. Motivate to do better. Everyone is friendly, respectful, and helpful to one another. You will 100% get a work out in. You will come in with dry clothes, but will leave with wet and sweaty clothes. With that said, they clean the mats and equipment after each class. There are some sparring days, adult classes in the morning and evening, Saturday am classes (Boxing/Muay Thai). If interested, there are some private classes as well. They also have kid classes, and boy dont the kids just enjoy their time there! Be my partner or my friends partner and check the place out!!!
Ive been with this gym for about a year and absolutely loved my experience. All the coaches do a great job at supporting you and all the members are friendly and welcoming. I totally reccomend this gym if you wanna break a good sweat. 👍💪
Ive been with MTL off and on since 2009--and needless to say, Coach AK (Amphone), Tyler, and Art have become family. MTL has played an essential role in my own personal development and growth--not just in meeting my fitness goals, but improving my mental health and confidence. If you ask any of the current or former members, theyll say this isnt just an ordinary martial arts gym; its a safe place to be yourself and learn traditional Muay Thai from the most humble instructors. There is a laidback demeanor outside of class that truly welcomes all walks of life when you step through the door. During class, expect to sweat and give it your all. Please leave your egos at home, come open-minded and learn why our strength is our tradition.
Been going here for 2 years now and only plan on continuing. Coach AK, Tyler, Art are the coolest and very knowledgeable. You’ll get a great intense work out on top with learning self defense and self discipline. MTL family are always welcoming with open arms. You’ll grow spiritually, mentally and physically. Overall I have no regrets, love this place and the family. This is my second home! :)
Amazing place to train with amazing instructors and people!Coach AK (Not Andy K.), Coach Tyler, and Coach Art are amazing instructors that dedicate their time to helping you learn basic/intermediate/advanced skills in Muay Thai/Kickboxing/Boxing striking and defense.Ive heard many things about MTL in the past with past instructors but I started with the team two years ago when they underwent new management, Ive been here ever since and love the energy and work ethic. From amazing team building, confidence building, cardio work out, strength building, technique building, and a traditional feel, the Muay Thai Lao team does an amazing job instructing with children (Ages: 6 - 12), teens (Ages: 13 - 17), and adults 18+, you will NOT regret learning here 100%
Myself and my kids are excited since day 1! They treat you like family ♥️🙏🏽! Best around ! Coaches and teammates are awesome!
I have been going to this gym for awhile now and its been wonderful! I did Mixed Martial Arts years ago and was worried about messing up my money maker(face) because I sell Cars for a living. Never happened once. One thing I love is how they adjust for your experience level and will even adapt for my Southpaw self LOL. Ive had a blast with everyone as the environment is fun and welcoming. The coaches are legit too Ive mainly worked with Coach Tyler, Art, and AK and all have only made me more confident in myself and my skills. Every once in awhile or if you request it there is sparring too if you would like to test your skills. They have equipment there too to use incase you are just starting out. Personally I love it, love the environment, and the crew. Place is always cleaned up too, glad they care about being sanitary too.Oooooooooooooyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy LOL
I found MTL (Muay Thai Lao Kickboxing Academy) through Google search so it serves it right that I do a review about the gym here. I am however going to write from a parental view 😊My 16 years old twin boys trains at this gym under Coach Tyler, Coach Art and Coach AK. Each coach brings something special to the art of combat sport that makes this gym a desired place to train. The culture in this gym is rooted with pride, honor and respect. The limited square footage of this gym is almost unnoticeable because of the strong dynamic and connection amongst the fighters, students and even amongst the parents. Its a happy place even in moments of intense training. Everyone is ready to help one another get better at their craft. The support is pretty incredible at MTL which I was very happy to discover early on. They welcome everyone to the family with open arms and love on you whether its your 1st day of training, getting back to it after a hiatus or there to train for a fight of your life.MTL has given my boys something to look forward to each day. Its so nice to see how much theyve grown in such little time. I only have the coaches and the MTL family to thank for that!!! As a parent, I wanted to make sure my boys were surrounded with good people who will help and empower them not just in training but also in all other aspects of life. I got that and much much more!I definitely found a gem when I found MTL. Im a happy Mom!Thank you GOOGLE Search for leading me to MTL!
This is the best places to learn Muay Thai! You will learn the basics of the basics and slowly build you up! Not everyone wants to be a fighter but you should learn how to defend yourself and this is the place to learn! Unlike other gyms where they try to show you all the fancy stuff to make you stay, they will build you up properly while getting that beach body!
I currently train at this location of the Sac. MTL Academy and love it. Not long after I started training here Andy K. left and AK King took over as primary trainer - and it has been nothing but good. Everyone is supportive and have good attitudes, and everyone is willing to help out anyone who needs it. The training is intense and rewarding, AK knows what hes doing plus is entertaining and approachable, and the competitive fighters are always willing to give advice and support. Vinnie, the owner is involved and available. This is just all around a great place to train. Some of the fighters and students that left while Andy K. was trainer have returned and told me things similar to Dana Whites review below. I did not train under Andy K long enough to have formed an opinion, however it would appear that others had similar problems as Dana. They have apparently been happy with the changes under AK since they have returned and continue to attend.Bottom line - this is a great place to learn Muay Thai.
Great work out, training and even if you are new they set you up starting at your level I go twice a week but others are 3, 4, 5 times a week, Good crowd
Ill post a review about this place eventually on my YouTube channel (homelessninja) but for now Id like to say that training here was a great experience. Great practice for beginner/intermediate level kickboxers. If you are already pretty advanced, youll need to take private lessons to really learn anything new.I always got a good workout here too, though that wasnt the goal of practice. The instructors AK and Shawn (or Sean, maybe?) are great, and the students are very kind as well. I didnt notice any big egos or any tough guy mentality going on there, which is a good indicator of the instructors personalities. Each class you will jump rope, stretch, do bag work, pad work with a partner, and abbs. Maybe one a week you will shadow box, and sparring is optional at least once a week in the evenings.
Hello, I hope to add some insight to the public about this gym/school. To begin, do not join unless you want to add some cardio to your workout. Bottom line, YOU WILL NOT LEARN MUAY THAI at this gym. Andy K was a great instructor about 4 years ago; now, he will simply take your money each month and teach you the same old stuff you could learn from a youtube video. This is the daily routine: (1) jump rope; (2) stretch—as fast as you can to get it over with--; (3) shadow punch (jab, jab, cross); (4) body bag work out—the same stuff (jab, jab, cross, with a few kicks sprinkled in); (4) partner technique (same as the body bag); and (5) sit ups. Pretty dang boring if you ask me. So where are the elbows, knees, take downs …? Well, not here. You are better off watching a UFC fight and youtube to get the proper training. Plus, the prices he charges is $135 or $150 a month!! Way too much for tai bo !@#$% There is a reason he wants you to sign up for three months at a time … because he knows he is “hustling” you. To wit, you will not learn any elbow, knee, or other muay thai techniques here. Plus, the few students lucky enough to know it who fight, LOOK DOWN ON NEW STUDENTS AND SIT BACK AND LAUGH QUIETLY AT YOU. This is evident through their demeanor and sly comments to each other. They too know you are getting ripped off. Sorry to break the news but someone had to.
