I came in for a facial and brought my daughter with me. We both had an amazing experience. We both had the signature facials. I was with Alex and when I tell you that he was one of those people you get around who is so genuine and overall a whole good vibe to be around, made me feel comfortable and like a queen. This place is professional, pretty, and very clean. Not only do they have good customer service but great service!!!

I have been here three times, and all three times I have had a great experience. The staff are all really friendly and very knowledgeable. Everyone I have worked with was fantastic. Sometimes it can make me nervous to have someone new work on my hair but every time I have been thrilled with the results. The space is great and inviting and my experiences have been relaxing and positive. Parking is no hassle as there is a garage and they validate at the salon. I am so impressed with the expertise, skill and enthusiasm about curly hair here :) I would highly recommend this salon, especially if you have curly hair! Wish I could rate more than 5 stars!

Tonee is a goddess sent to us from Albany, NY and I dont know what NEED Salon would do without her! The only person I trust with my curly hair, she is sweet, knowledgeable, supportive, stylish, and the best anyone could ask for. I love Tonee, go see her!

I get my brows done by Chantal here once a month and a curly cut by Tonee and I cannot explain how wonderful they are. Everyone in the salon is so welcoming and kind. I strongly recommend all my friends go here whenever I can!

I loved Mint salon when it was on Monroe Ave. The new location was not listed on the Mint booking site and I didn’t realize it was a new location until I used GPS. Upon arrival the covid rules were still very strict. The receptionist was not very friendly or welcoming. The owner was rude and disrespectful to me when I asked if there was somewhere else to sit. Their seating area was very cold and the cushion seats were uncomfortable. My 10 year old daughter was there for a haircut so I wanted to stay close by. I could have gone to the outside waiting area but the door coming in locks. I could see the owner using a clipboard to cover her face to talk to the receptionist about me and my complaint about the air conditioning and seating. The receptionist then did the same thing as they both made eye contact with me. Fortunately the manager came over to ask if I needed anything and he was very kind. We will never go back to Need/Mint Salon.

Rachel is the best and I would highly recommend her!! Her upbeat and caring personality immediately put me at ease. She understood exactly what I wanted and with her knowledge and expertise she was able to reach the desired shade of blonde that I asked for without compromising the integrity of my hair. I am beyond happy with the result!! She is definitely the perfect fit for such a beautiful, warm and welcoming salon! I look forward to every visit!!

This is sad because I really wanted to like this place but I just cant. I had my hair done by Noelani. Cut and color. First: the cut was uneven, I wanted a blunt bob below my jawline. She did the cut by the end of the appointment and was running out of time for the next appointment so another stylist blow-dried and styled my hair. I am not sure whether she wasnt finished and the other stylist didnt notice or it was just a mistake (it happens, not a big deal, just needs to be fixed). When I washed my hair at home I noticed it was un-even. My friends also noticed . About the color: I wanted blonde balayage with face-framing. I showed pictures, for clarification. I got two chunks of grey-like hair in front of my face ( bleached from my roots, not balayage). Their color station is in the back, with no mirrors, so I only noticed this after it was all done and she was ready to style my hair. I mentioned it and she put some dark color in my roots to cover it but it didnt stick. After I washed my hair once it was gone. That was the appointment! During this time ( 4 hours) Noelani was very friendly and recommended shampoo and conditioner for me.Two days later, I called explaining my experience. They would get me in for a cut re-do but for the color correction, Id have to book an appointment and pay for it separately ( which is pretty expensive). And thats all folks

Excellent salon for curly or thick hair - Rachel is the best! She takes into account what type of look you want, and how to care for your style to keep it looking great. She listens to what you want and makes it happen. Love this salon - fabulous atmosphere!

I absolutely loved this place when it was Mint. As a curly girl, its hard to find a great place for a haircut but when I found Mint I was so happy and I was willing to drive over an hour to go in for services. I always raved about how wonderful they were and recommended tons of people try them out. Then Covid happened and they changed to Need Salon and it is no longer the same experience. While they might have lot of new things and it is a beautiful salon, the staff and salon feel very cold and unwelcoming. I have never in my life complained about a poor hair service (or any service in general such as food or hospitality) but when I left the salon, I sat in my car and cried because the one girl I dealt with made me feel so terrible and unheard during my service. It makes me so sad how much this place has changed and its not even worth driving for the services anymore. If Mint were still around, I would continue to recommend people to that Salon, but I would never recommend anyone to Need.

I have the hardest time getting my haircut because no one can cut it the way I want it. I came here for the first time and I just love my cut! They did it exactly how I asked them to. Staff is super friendly and knows their stuff! Clean and professional too.

Love the team at NEED! Rachel & Dom are a aiming stylist who make sure to get you what you want in healthiest way possible for your hair! The salon is always clean and organized! Don’t sleep on NEED

Staff was super nice. They took real good care of me, but didnt clean up my edges (my fault for having social anxiety and not telling them what I needed after the initial haircut and dye). They dyed my hair and I told them I wasnt a big fan of bleach because it tended to break my hair. She promised she had some protectants that would help as well as extra products that would help keep the color.Fast forward a week and I tried contacting her about additional products to keep the color strong. Radio silence. I tried contacting her again and still nothing. Shortly after, my hair began to break off in chunks. $170 down the drain. Still radio silence.Had to go to a nearby hair salon and get all of the color cut out, basically shaving my head. Not impressed with their price tags, but 1 star for their intial customer service.I will not be returning.

I drive in from Syracuse to have my curly/coily hair cut and colored for the past 3 years with Rachel, that’s how much it’s worth it. Beautiful salon and all the ladies are super sweet, helpful. Customer service is top notch. Always get compliments on my cuts and colouring; asked where I go...people try to give me recommendations for salons in Syracuse but I’m very loyal when I find someone who does an excellent job and is reliable. She is very relatable and knowledgeable abt trends which I love 💓

I’ve been seeing Rachel for over a year.I started at Mint then went to Need Salon. She does a fantastic job on my curly and color treated hair. She’s my go to girl, very sweet and knowledgeable! My hair looks healthy even after color treatment. She makes sure the heath of your hair comes first but does accommodate your wants. I recommend her to all my curly hair friends and her coloring to anyone! If you choose to go, you won’t be disappointed.

Aja does amazing work, the journey to get my hair to blonde has a been a long and dedicated one, especially with extremely thick hair. But she always takes the time and care that my hair needs. I have been driving 1.5 hours just to go here because they are so amazing!!

Rachel is my girl! She does a superb job of cut and and is a color Queen! And really all of the girls who work at Need are welcoming and fun. I really feel like I am visiting friends when I go to get my hair done. Need is a fantastic space. The hip downtown vibe is great and I love the underground parking especially in the Winter months. I cant recommend this place enough!

Very clean and chic! I recently started coming here when my usual salon, Mint Salon, moved to this location and I am in love! Its a beautiful salon in a very convenient and easy to get to location. Everyone is really polite and they are on their stuff when it comes to taking every COVID protection. I consistently recommend them to my friends and family ❤

The salon space is extremely modern and comfortable (I never would have thought a comfortable shampoo chair existed until I visited need) and everyone was extremely friendly. Covid precautions are very solid and well enforced.Toneé is an absolute dream - this was my first true curly cut and she did an amazing job! Im confident in no matter how my hair decides to behave its going to look great thanks to her. Shes the type of person you immediately want to be friends with and feel extremely comfortable trusting your hair to her. Cant recommend enough!

I received a fantastic gel manicure from Mia! She’s great at nail art as well. I had a special request bc I’m going to Disney and she nailed it! (Pun intended!) I had to change to 2 stars bc after not even a week my polish chipped.. on many nails. I think it’s the polish, but I expect if I pay almost $100 for gel polish it doesn’t chip!

I scheduled an updo with Sarah and had a great experience. Finally a salon that understands curly hair. I loved the style and the way it complimented my natural curls.
